is anyone apart from H.P. rooting for the dodgers?

possibly jimmy mod

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 00:38 (four months ago)

they do have nice uniforms, at least

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 00:39 (four months ago)

Snell looking unhittable

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 00:40 (four months ago)

Wowwww Collins

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:00 (four months ago)

Crazy catch. Wouldn't be out of character for teo to get doubled up there; glad he got back

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:01 (four months ago)

Xp jinxing, but Snell has looked unhittible consistently for the past month and a bit. Hot at the right time, definitely the ace (among aces) of the post season staff

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:02 (four months ago)

Ohhh my god !!!!

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:04 (four months ago)

Wtf that sucks

I disagree that rocks

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:05 (four months ago)

What do you even do? Deepest outfield-infield fly play. Boooooooo

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:05 (four months ago)

That’s gotta be the wildest double play in playoff history

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:11 (four months ago)

amazing that the refs and players got it right in real time, or at least the refs and the brewers catcher

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:22 (four months ago)

amazing that ppl like h.p. and gyac understand baseball so well, because it is so stupid

can't even imagine trying to explain to a non-fan why sometimes it's a force-out and sometimes you need to tag

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:27 (four months ago)

Yeah really impressed by Contreras I mean that’s a once in a lifetime play

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:45 (four months ago)

I would like to order 8 innings of Snell with 1 inning of Roki on the side. Yeah, the shut-out combo, that'd be great, thanks

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 01:56 (four months ago)

when did snell last go 8 innings?

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:07 (four months ago)

certainly kevin cash never let him do so

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:07 (four months ago)

Thankfully

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:11 (four months ago)

Dodgers won 2020 thanks to a quick Snell pull, Cash taught Roberts a valuable lesson. Snell literally told Roberts he was staying in for some 7th inning traffic last month with 100+ pitches; and so it happened (got through unscathed)

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:12 (four months ago)

Can’t even be upset he’s hitting every spot he wants

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:31 (four months ago)

let snell pitch leave snell in snell

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:34 (four months ago)

STOP WALKING OHTANI

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:37 (four months ago)

I guess another team didn't get the memo that intentionally walking ohtani is always the stupidest thing to do

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 02:39 (four months ago)

I mean - good odds he would have walked either way.

I was at the movies, but that double play is one of the wildest things I’ve ever seen. there’s no way that’s ever happened before, right?

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 05:48 (four months ago)

an 8-6-2 double play with the catcher making both putouts! what on earth

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 05:50 (four months ago)

All it takes is a bit of baserunning magic from Teo

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 06:03 (four months ago)

I promise I love him.... but he's been making boneheaded play after boneheaded play for the last couple months, which hasn't been picked up as much because his bat/the rest of the team have been able to neutralize his mistakes.

H.P, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 06:05 (four months ago)

The double play was one of the wildest things I've ever seen.

In the late innings i got the feeling that the Dodgers were entering Beast Mode and would be nearly unstoppable, but then Sasaki started blowing the game. Should be a great series.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 06:12 (four months ago)

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 12:38 (four months ago)

i like this dodgers team theyve got some cool guys and ive always been a fan of the uniforms but i gotta root for the small market upstarts on principle

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 13:27 (four months ago)

pretty much same, i don't have any animosity towards the dodgers but it just feels boring to have them in the world series again

na (NA), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 14:15 (four months ago)

still feels like the brewers have a decent chance, the dodgers barely won that one even with snell going ham

na (NA), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 14:17 (four months ago)

true but if not for one of the wildest double plays in MLB history the Dodgers would've scored what, at least 3 more runs? would that have been a grand slam?

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 October 2025 14:21 (four months ago)

yeah not sure if anyone was paying attention to the Dodgers the last two months or the last series, but their bullpen is going to make any game feel winnable for the Brewers. Dodgers are putting starters in the pen to try to stop the bleeding, some to mixed results, and others to disastrous outcomes.

imperial frfr (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 16:55 (four months ago)

Dodgers uniforms are classic but then again the Athletic wrote a whole article about the large number of short kings on the Brew Crew

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6698271/2025/10/08/milwaukee-brewers-mlb-postseason-height-analysis/

The average big-league hitter in 2025 registered at 72.3 inches, just north of 6 feet, according to Elias. With the exception of Christian Yelich, the 6-3 face of the franchise, no Brewers regular exceeds that standard. Among the players, the lack of height does not go unnoticed, especially when watching Frelick, catcher William Contreras (5-10), first baseman Andrew Vaughn (5-10), shortstop Joey Ortiz (5-10), outfielder Isaac Collins (5-8) and third baseman Caleb Durbin (5-7) exit the diamond.

“There are times where we sit on the bench and you look out after they’re running in off the field, and you’re like, ‘Man, we’re tiny,’” veteran pitcher Brandon Woodruff said. “We’re fielding a team that’s tiny. But man, these dudes, it’s just a different brand of baseball.”

smaller strikezones https://i.imgflip.com/1l540t.jpg

imperial frfr (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 14 October 2025 17:47 (four months ago)

we got good seats one game and I was kinda stunned to see Yelich wasn't actually particularly tall - on TV he looks like a monster, but I realized that's only because everyone else on the team is shorter than average. I've wondered how much that's correlated with Milwaukee apparently taking more pitches than any other team....you'd think the little buff dudes would be the hardest to pitch to.

I had to watch the replay of the DP a few times because the clip I was watching cut off the end, where Contreras touches third. I was quite confused. Played it for a grade 6 class today and one kid was able to explain everything quite well (on a second try; he thought the fly ball was caught).

User Sharivari: Have you heard the Teoscar news?
Me: No, what, is he injured?
User SV: He’s left the team hotel because it’s haunted but he’s said he doesn’t believe in ghosts but his wife does.
Me: Oh…That’s just the Pfister.

Classic Bob Nightengale missive on the subject:

Teoscar Hernandez makes it clear he doesn’t believe in ghosts, but his wife does, so they have switched hotels in downtown Milwaukee

Went looking for some good Pfister stories, here are some of the best I found:

Unnamed Pirates player, date unknown:

Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle isn't buying that ghosts were behind the team's losing streak. One of his former players, however, definitely thought there was something to it:
"I have not seen that ghost," Hurdle said. "I have not had any relationship-building with that ghost. I had a player call me one night assuring that there was a ghost, and the ghost had turned on his TV twice in one night.
"I actually had him come into my room -- not to sleep. I settled him down, went back to his room with him, sat for a while. The TV did not come back on. I exited. Everything was OK. It's real to some people, there's no doubt. I'm absolutely positive that I don't want to name names. He's still playing."

Mookie Betts:

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts has refused to stay at the team hotel in downtown Milwaukee for years, convinced that the famous Pfister Hotel is haunted.

So when the Dodgers come to town, he always checks into an Airbnb away from the team, not ready to encounter any ghosts.

Brandon Phillips:

Brandon Phillips, Reds
We play Milwaukee a lot, but I remember one time I came into the room and just sat on the bed. Then, for some reason, the damn radio turned on. So I turned it off and got in the shower. When I was done, that motherf---er had turned back on.

Pablo Sandoval:

I don't like the ghosts there. In 2009 I went to take a shower, and I remember putting my iPod next to a speaker. When I came out, it was playing music, and I have no idea why. I left the hotel after that. I didn't want to stay there. In 2010 me and Edgar Renteria stayed down the street and paid for it on our own. Then last month, I decided to stay there again. I asked myself, Why do I have to be afraid? The only thing I asked the ghosts was to let me sleep. And they did.

Carlos Gomez:

Gómez said he has heard voices while staying in the Pfister, with the worst happening when he got out of the shower one year and heard static playing on his iPod. So he grabbed the device, which then changed to another song. He raced out of the room and into the lobby before putting his pants on.

"I'm scared to go there," he said. "They should change the hotel. Everybody here doesn't like the hotel. Why do they always put us in the same hotel when you can't sleep?
"Everything's scary. Everything in the hotel, the paintings and pictures, it's a lot of old, crazy stuff. No good, man. No good."

Tis the season, perhaps the Crew really do have the spirits on their side 👻

NLCS Game 2 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto's last start facing the Brewers:

0.2 IP, 5 Rs, 0Ks, 2BBs

Peralta went 6IP, with 7Ks, 0Rs in the same game.

I mean the reality is they're also running hot but man they look like a video game team. yeah okay I am bitter, getting your ass kicked over and over by the same team is no fun. that 6-0 record vs. them in the regular season feels a lot like the Bucks in-season tournament trophy right now. oh well baseball is weird lets get 'em on Wednesday
