NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

Oneida Blue has been kicking the entire league's sorry asses. That 900 team OPS can't stand up for the entire season, can it?

Has Yanc3y made a single roster or lineup move? He autodrafted his team too! And now he gets Clemens? WTF?

As of today, I have reclaimed my rightful place at the top of the Lightfoot Cup standings. Me = Alberta Bound. Thermo and MarkP = The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think Yanc3 has even bothered w/ his team since the autodraft! He's the anti-LaRussa!

As for my team, I need A) someone besides Schmidt & Webb to do something for my pitching staff (Jeff Francis allowing 2 ER and getting tagged w/ a loss because Matt Holliday had a case of the clanks does not count), B) someone to homer more than once a week, and C) saves.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

Key words there, Barry - "as of today". Enjoy it while you can! Todd Helton, Mark Kotsay, Carlos Guillen, Jim Edmonds, Ramon Hernandez, Craig Monroe and Placido Polanco can't slump forever!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 1 June 2006 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

Well.. I certainly hope not.
Not all of them.

Edmonds, maybe.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

Oh pish, Dave. You're second place -- no right to complain! (Though I can say that I'm pwning you in HRs!)

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

There have been Edmonds retirement rumors. His shoulder needs reconstructive surgery.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

Is that what's going on? I've kept reading about "shoulder problems" and was hoping all he needed was a good massage. fuck.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

Whoops, I spoke to soon... he has a groin pull or perhaps a sports hernia, he got an MRI today.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

He's missed a few games now with that - but his poor numbers this year so far are being attributed to his shoulder.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 1 June 2006 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

Dudes, no gloating: I don't check this team every day, or even every couple of days. Every time I do, though, I'm in first. Have I been there all season long?

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 2 June 2006 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

ooohhhh

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 2 June 2006 12:03 (eighteen years ago)

Just proof that AD&D Baseball is like 3% knowledge and 1097% luck.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 2 June 2006 12:13 (eighteen years ago)

And by knowledge I don't mean anything secret esoteric or insidery, but knowing which players are still alive and still have all their muscles and joints in the proper locations.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 2 June 2006 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

OOOOOHHHHHH

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 2 June 2006 12:15 (eighteen years ago)

Fucking Cardinals, just put JEdmonds on the DL already!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 3 June 2006 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

hey, someone just proposed this trade to me... beltre, biggio & dontrelle for ichiro, arroyo and ricky weeks. is that a good trade? it doesn't seem like it to me. he also has soriano, who i would gladly give away those three dudes for, but i don't think he wants to let him go.

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 5 June 2006 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

He's trying to TRADE Adrian Beltre? That's some funny shit. Dude has as much value as a used condom.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 5 June 2006 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

well, this is after i offered to trade giambi, weeks and patterson (dude's on fire!) for soriano, expecting a counter-offer. in retrospect it was a pretty crappy idea.

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 5 June 2006 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

how about reyes, ichiro and weeks? is that too much? OR TOO LITTLETLET?

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 5 June 2006 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

Cheeses Dave! How the hell did you know to pick up Accardo? WHO IS YOUR SOURCE OR I WILL SUBPOENA YOU.

I'm Batman.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

Don't worry, tho - he's a Giant reliever; ergo, he'll get shelled and/or screwed by Fatmando Chunknitez.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

What's with the lack of trades this year? Is everyone hedging their bets that certain players will improve/break out? General apathy? More talent in the free agent pool?

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

no good offers

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

lol I benched Giambi for the weekend cuz he had a stomach virus... and then he comes out and hits a 3-run homer yesterday.

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

My replacement outfield of Marcus Thames/Reed Johnson/Manny is working out far better than the Edmonds/Kotsay/Manny one I started out with!

WHA?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I understand SS, but why do you need a 1B??

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

I might start making trade offers just to spice this bitch up.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 14:02 (eighteen years ago)

*insert used condom for Aubrey Huff joke here*

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

Dammit, I didn't notice that you'd dropped Brad Radke.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

HA aha!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

Because Youk doesn't HOMSAR enough! And Shelton is getting the gasface from Jimmy Ley!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

leyland is all about the gasface, innhee?

if he were a stock character in a horror movie, he'd definitely be the blustery sheriff...but probably not played by omar sharif.

i wish i had some more holds, but trolling for holds is a fool's errand!

jonathan quayle higgins (j.q. higgins), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

Why troll? They're out there for the taking!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

So I just realized why there's been no trades - no one's put anyone up on the trading block!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

wait...did you create that trading block w/ numbers?

damn you, sir!

i've got mike cameron (#6 in MLB in SBs in the last month). i'm looking for a holds guy with a WHIP under 1.25 season to date.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Sunday, 11 June 2006 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

is it bad that when a hit by berkman bounced off of horacio ramirez' skull, the first thing i thought was "YUS! an RBI!"?

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 12 June 2006 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

also, and this is probably a tangent for another thread but FUCK YOU PAL, can someone explain why they use aluminum bats in college and HS ball? isn't it way more dangerous? and don't dudes who go on to play pro have to unlearn all their aluminum bat skillz at tha next level?

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 12 June 2006 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

berkman did ramirez a favor by getting him out of the game.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 12 June 2006 03:32 (eighteen years ago)

Who's in the top 5? Because you'll have to decide who among yourselves will give up a spot to my surging upstarts!

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

My team, under the steadfast leadership of Ramon Hernandez, has decided to surge aswell. You can take a spot right behind me at second.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

On paper, my team should be middle of the pack.

In reality, it is dreadful.

I feel like Paul Depodesta.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

hay guys, is papelbon worth giving up ensberg & patterson? patterson i don't care about, but ensberg's hard to replace...

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:02 (eighteen years ago)

no wai!

papelbon may be the best closer in baseball this year and ensberg is icecold.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:13 (eighteen years ago)

ok i am going for it, thanks steveshasta!!!!!!!! the weird thing is, this guy already has glaus and wright, so I'm not sure what he needs ensberg for. not that i am complaining

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:18 (eighteen years ago)

wait wait.... i'm messed up... you've got Ensberg and Patterson and he's giving up Papelbon...

who's your saves guy and back-up 3B?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:26 (eighteen years ago)

yeah sorry i'm bad with words... i'm getting papelbon, the other guy is getting my two d00dz. i don't have a backup 3b guy lol, i will probably pluck youkilis out of FA if i can't get a good trade after this. I already have BJ Ryan & Otsuka, but I have a glut of offense rn and am trying to trade away some of those guys for more closers...

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:31 (eighteen years ago)

Do that trade, pick up Youk.

Then trade (package) Otsuka for Tom Gordon and you will have the best bullpen in the history of fantasy baseball.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:33 (eighteen years ago)

haha, I just traded andruw jones for tom gordon! I WILL RULE ALL

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

CAVEAT: You're talking to a guy in 16th place (out of 2o) whose offense is being led by Mike Cameron and Rocco Baldelli.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:41 (eighteen years ago)

[cameron is a single shy of the cycle tonight though....]

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:44 (eighteen years ago)

the pain in the ass abt roto scoring is that it really won't matter how many saves i end up getting, because it only means i lead in one category. and this is assuming that i even pick up the lead, as I'm behind the league leader by *34* saves rn. so basically i am just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks :(

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 02:50 (eighteen years ago)

There are 20 spots in our league? AWESOME (I'm not last)

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

The only real success I can brag about in this league is 49 stolen bases (tied for #3) and only 9 caught stealings (tied for #2).

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:10 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe my team is in the hunt for the stolen base lead. This is what Tito felt like when Theo traded for Dave Roberts, isn't it?

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

i guess i didn't understand that you can't actually delete yourself from a league after it's already drafted. i wish i knew that before i decided to join like 4 public leagues yesterday :'(

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Friday, 16 June 2006 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

okay so dudes how do you deal with the annoyingness of the max innings/games thing? like, no matter what i will run out of innings before the season is over, which is cool with me. but i will have extra games left for my offensive dudes as well, which is uncool. i basically shifted all of my bench from the offensive side to the bullpen, so i have 12 pitchers and 1 guy for every skill position. i don't want to keep a lot of backups that i'm not going to lose, but i hate losing potential opportunities on every rest day. what do you guys do to get around this? do you keep any backups or do u just say fuckit?

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

that i'm not going to lose = that i'm not going to USE

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

If I'm reading your post correctly (i.e. your projected innings will be less than max. innings), I try to keep 2-3 offensive bench guys and sub them into the lineup when my regulars have off-days or when I'm on top of the ball enough to know when they're not starting. Also it's a good idea to keep bench guys when starters slump.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

My cumulative pitching line from last night (four appearances):

1 GS, 5.2 IP, 3.35 WHIP, 11 ER, 2 L, 1 HR, 3 BB, 1K

Surely this is rock bottom for my pitching staff and things will finally start getting better.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 17:09 (eighteen years ago)

Only 1 HR = things can get much worse.

A 3+ WHIP is Erickson-esque, tho.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 17:09 (eighteen years ago)

i emptied my bench partly because i was killing myself with all the goddamn lineup changes. i tried to stay disciplined about it, but i ended up tinkering with that shit every day, which obviously just leads to more frustration. maybe the solution is to just have really shitty backups.

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, micromanaging leads to second-guessing, second-guessing leads to anger, anger leads to fear.

The best method that I've settled on is to see who's hot over the past week or month, and to start them. Baseball is largely composed of hot and cold streaks -- hitting is, anyway -- that unless your guys are complete chumps, you'll do pretty well.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

STORM (Players to Trade)
A. Soriano
(Was - 2B,OF)
M. Alou
(SF - OF)
W. Rodríguez
(Hou - SP)
M. Prior
(ChC - SP)

I Like Nelly (Players to Trade) (this is me)

C. Patterson
(Bal - OF)
J. Papelbon
T. Glavine
C. Schilling

soriano is reeeeeeeeeeeeeal tempting, and i would still have a lot of solid guys in my bullpen, but i'm not sure...

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

Mark p., otto and I rotate for 18tha nd 19th place. It would be nice if my #1 draft pick got off the DL before the All-Star break.

I am very happy with my Freddy Sánchez. He is a popular presence in The Denny Maclean clubhouse.

Enjoy your moment in the sun, Jays O' Thunder - with your slight lead over me - for it shall not last long!

Earlnash, I see your smack talk. We are coking-and-queen of saves.

It helps to have 4 closers/vultures:

Hoffman 18
Rodriguez 17
Dempster 11

Wow, I'm quite surprised that Trevor Time has more sv than K-rod at this point.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 29 June 2006 02:47 (eighteen years ago)

mulder went on the DL for me and then i cut him, fuck that guy. maddux is in the tank. blanton teases with potential and then goes out and does what he did tonight. kelvim escobar is doing everything to prove the angels wrong for that dumb contract extension. gagne and tyler walker are on the DL, so my saves hopes are pinned on jenks and that guy the royals are tossing out there. roy halladay is pretty much the only starter i can count on though i'm hoping anthony reyes does something the rest of the year. i can't hope for much more than third place now.

team MVP: bobby abreu, which isn't saying that much fantasy-wise.

gear (gear), Thursday, 29 June 2006 04:59 (eighteen years ago)

lol @ tyler walker...

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 29 June 2006 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

I was only five points behind first starting yesterday's games! Now I think I'm back to a double-digit deficit. Blast it all.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 29 June 2006 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

so my saves hopes are pinned on jenks and that guy the royals are tossing out there

Ambidextrous Burgers?

sLeeeter Kinney (Leee), Thursday, 29 June 2006 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

You've picked up, what, twenty points in a week, now?

I am genuinely concerned.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 30 June 2006 13:35 (eighteen years ago)

PHEAR THE HAWPE

Would've been nice if SOMEONE remembered to start his #1 starter yesterday, tho. MR RAPSO.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 30 June 2006 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'd just like to point out that 3 of the 8 NL All Star starting pitchers are Moneyball City Maniacs.

That is all.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 13:29 (eighteen years ago)

Oh - that's not all.
Since my pitching staff is unfairly awesome I think i might be looking to unload Glavin for some respectable power hitting.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

DUDE, AUBREY HUFF HAS BEEN HOT LATELY

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 14:43 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe if he played 2b.
But still, probably not!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

My pitching has hit the ditch hard in the past week with Derek Turnbow and Mark Buehrle both giving up a bazillion runs in about five innings pitched. I'm about as good as I can get on the hitting side, excepting getting walks and stolen bases.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

My pitching line yesteday in my other league: three starts, two relief appearances, 16.2 innings pitched, 20 earned runs, two blown saves, and yet only two losses. The only dude who wasn't awful was Dave Bush. Even Johan coughed up five runs in five innings. AWESOME!

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

It takes a real man to lead the league in strike outs.

585!!

AUBREY HUFF (HITTING OVER .400 FOR THE LAST MONTH) IS AVAILABLE

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 12:51 (eighteen years ago)

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

i just picked up PUJOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had to give up nomah & bj ryan though. i thought it was an awesome deal, but my friend seems to think i got jobbed... what say u guyz? i still have pappybonz so it doesn't seem like a big thing imo.

BUTT LIKE A HOLE, BLACK AS UR SOUL (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 13 July 2006 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

nomar could snap a hammy at any moment, bj ryan could have a second half with 15 saves and an ERA of 4.00

gear (gear), Thursday, 13 July 2006 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

And Pooholes could age 5 years at any moment!!

Stephen Shasta (Leee), Thursday, 13 July 2006 21:40 (eighteen years ago)

Bad Leee....

Try "Pujols might strain another oblique circling under another routine pop-up".

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 13 July 2006 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

gahaha, the guy who i traded with is now GLOATING to me, as if i got completely ripped off or something. this is the point where i want to try and build, like, the perfect team now - papelbon & pujols could be great trade material. though i bet by the time all the trades go through and i have my ultimateroster assembled, the season will be over.

BUTT LIKE A HOLE, BLACK AS UR SOUL (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 13 July 2006 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

what ranking are pujols and papelbon in your league?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 13 July 2006 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

papelbon is 1, pujols 5th (to BJ Ryan's 6th). i just assumed the rankings were identical across all the yahoo leagues, is this not the case?

BUTT LIKE A HOLE, BLACK AS UR SOUL (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 13 July 2006 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

what's weird about this league is that it doesn't count ERA & WHIP, which basically means closers are good for saves and NOTHING ELSE. so if it was adjusted to the league they would naturally be ranked a lot lower, right?

BUTT LIKE A HOLE, BLACK AS UR SOUL (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 13 July 2006 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

so the top two pitchers in yahoo fantasy bb are papelbon and ryan, and 3, 4, and 5 are santana, liriano, and nathan!

starters who i've benched (Radke, Ohka & Penny): 2-1 | 1.78 era
pitchers who i've started (Penny, Lieber, Zambrano & Glavine): 2-2 | 7.20 era

*i failed

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 4 August 2006 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

My team is such shit. Why can't Ben Sheets pitch every night? Why did ARod decide to have an off-year this season? Why are my underperforming players waving their assy-ness in my face by going on the DL after a season of suck?

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Friday, 4 August 2006 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

You think your pitching is bad, take a look at the Clutch Hustler staff over the past month.

Mark Buehrle
Derek Turnblow
Tim Hudson

Those three alone are a freaking nightmare and really the rest of the staff other than Huston Street have hit the mountain. I lost sixty points, pretty much every point, from my pitching.

My catcher (Javy Lopez) earned a hold last night. Will I get credit for this?

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Monday, 21 August 2006 07:37 (eighteen years ago)

I know the answer is no, because batting stats for NL don't count either. I mainly wanted to know if anybody knows the last time a catcher earned a hold (I'm sure Jayson Stark is bugging the shit out of Elias as I type this).

The thing is, I looked at the boxscore and saw that his entire appearance consisted of one walk and zero outs recorded, so I figured the Red Sox intentionally walked somebody and didn't want to waste a pitcher (particularly considering how tired their bullpen must be at this point).

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:21 (eighteen years ago)

Closer Hut Department:

Due to the magic of autodraft, somehow I have 4 closers. Who knew Trevor Hoffman would be any good this year? Now I have 99 saves, more than enough to lock up the saves catgegory for the season, I think.

Anyone want to make a run at the Taco Hut and trade me for some offense?

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 04:38 (eighteen years ago)
