Steve Shasta, Thursday, 22 February 2007 05:50 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...
So maybe we should sort out what stats we'll be looking at in both our leagues? I'm assuming that they'll be changing from R | HR | RBI | SB | AVG &... W | SV | K | ERA | WHIP?
Should I a started a new thread?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 24 March 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

i dunno, it's kinda too late to change anything unless we do it before the draft? we might be drafting based on the stats that we see before us

no offense but steve shasta is kinda m.i.a. like galang galang

Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 24 March 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

good point.

seeing as i'll be out of the country for a total of 6 weeks of this season it may be a good idea to have another commissioner.

would anyone be interested in stepping in?

thanks.

Steve Shasta, Saturday, 24 March 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

I guess I could. But uh.. I just now realized the draft is tomorrow!! And uh... I've been known to abuse power :/

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 24 March 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

And also I am just now reading up on how h2h works.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 24 March 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

we COULD just decide now arbitrarily and then Thermo could take over. Or, we could just leave it the way it is. in my other league, we're rocking 7 categories for hitters and 6 for pitchers, but i'm still not happy about 'em.

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

Can we tweek the stats post draft?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

So uh.. there seems to a problem with our H2H league. I guess it's not going to let us do the draft with an odd number of teams!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

it's not letting me register a dummy team

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

should somebody register another team right now so that we can go ahead with the draft?

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

uh xpost

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

it probably won't allow a dummy team to be registered so soon before the scheduled draft time

we might not be able to do anything about it right now!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

i'm in, hope this helps

GOD DAMN IT SHASTA IF YOU FUCKED UP THE LEAGUE YOU ARE A DORKKNOB

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

still nothing

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

I really like the idea of having a dummy team, it'd be like the Kansas City Royals of our league (possible unfairness in the final standings: not every "real" team would play the Royals an equal number of times) (no wait, it's just like real baseball!)

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

um.. so what now fellas?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah but now we can't draft, so that SUXXX. DAMN IT.

but if we draft later then SPARTACUS ALLSTARS will pre-rank and blow yr shit all to hell

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

are you commish now?

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

shasta: watch out for email from the yahoo gods

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

I organized my whole weekend around this and now I have to go move furniture without even the soothing balm of knowing I picked Ryan Freel.

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

Nope.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

commish is now listed as d---_v----, it's on him

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

aside: i thought we didn't want to have 893293 hitting and pitching categories anymore ... more like kicking it old school with the 5x5 categories, plus maybe a couple of others (OBP, SLG, K/BB).

maybe it's a good thing that we don't draft now cuz it gives us more time to think about the stats

(translation: if we use more than the 5x5 stats, then I will rerank and Juan Pierre will be NOWHERE TO BE FOUND)

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

otm!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

okay but someone better schedule a draft immediately because there's only a week left!

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

actually as long as we're changing everything let's just get rid of head to head

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

I think our other, rotisery league was supposed to be 5x5 and the h2h was supposed to be more stathead crap but we never got around to setting the categories.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

x post

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

so we're just doing the one that's drafting at 3:30?

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

what, is that the non-head to head?

FUCK

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

team's ranked by aggregate stats.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

yeah

okay i promised my family that i would let go of my anger issues about little things like this, become more flexible and looseygoosey/hippieish, let the river find the stream etc. but this is really some inconsiderate shit.

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

Chillax, dude. Think of it as gaining a shitload of time over the coming summer months instead of losing a fantasy team!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

I really hate that word, "chillax", and i apologize for using it.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:01 (eighteen years ago)

thanks for that.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

Is the ILB2 draft going on right now? I can't find the link!

Leee, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

read thread leeee

also "thermo thinwall" thanks for caring

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

no need to be so formal, call me thermo!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

sorry guys,

i just realized i really don't have the time for this anymore.

best of luck.

Steve Shasta, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I deleted my team, so you'll need another person. I don't feel like re-ranking all of my players because someone thought it was a good idea to switch up the categories at the last minute. Have fun.

Oakland Mike, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think we sswitched around any categories around.
well it's moot now because it looks like both leagues are gone.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

yeah wtf everyone, this sucks, the other league probably got deleted because shasta droppt out

maybe we dont DESERVE to have a league

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

this is some kind of bowlsheet.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

or else someone start one up like double quick, i'm already a commish somewhere else so i dont really wanna do it

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

i'll do it, but it's kind of pointless w/ 2 or 3 folks.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

New league - same 5x5 settings

name ILBB
password: shafta

i had to push the draft time back because of the late creation of the leage - so it's 4:30 now

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

btw sorry for my own petulance but i was really looking forward to this

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

NEED LEAGUE NUMBER

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

thermo/tupac: you rock!

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

it's worth a shot - i'm sure most of us will come here when they see the league up and left. even 6 or 7 folks would be fun.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

we need the league #!

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

# 264412
sorry

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

thanks, dude.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

yeah dont know if i can actually be there for the draft but wtf lets give it the el shotto

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

sorry abt the time - there was nothing i could do - if i messed up somehting let me know - i threw it together super quick-like!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, time is gonna be tough. i'll def be tehre for the first few rounds, but i got to watch some hoyas!

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

uh can I suggest pushing the draft back at least a week for those who have no clue the entire league got deleted?

bnw, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)

4Y/40M For Everyone is BACK

I won't be there for the live draft but I will prerank my azz off right now

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

i would support pushing draft day back. anyonw know the drop dead date for putting one on?

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not sure, bnw - I think it's prolly best to stick with today - it's only an hour after the other draft was supposed to take place. If anyone else here agrees with bnw speak up and i'll do next weekend - which, speaking personally means i have to make more time in a week instead of getting it outta the way with now. either way i'm willing to bend if enough people want it next week.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

i am ok either way

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

WTF

OK, I'm in the new league.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

if you CAN do it sunday maybe that's gooder so we can get more people in the league, otherwise today is OK

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

oh wait eight teams NEVER MIND, ROCK AND ROLL BITCHEZ

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

Today is OK with me.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

alright i'll wait another half hour and if no one has a problem with doing it next sunday i'll switch.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

oh noes xpostin!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

So today or what guys?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

TODAY TODAY TODAY

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)

actually, either way is fine w/ me.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)

Ok today! man - i'm already understanding why steve split on us and i'm only an hour into my commisionership!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

A lot of crankiness on this thread and Morbs hates fantasy!

Half of my roster is guaranteed to be turned over by the AS break, so whatever we choose is OK by me.

Leee, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

it'll be alright, thermo! don't know if com-commissioning is possible, but, if so, i'd gladly help out.

j.q higgins, Sunday, 25 March 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

So, have we decided if we're going to push the draft back? I've already entered the draft WAR ROOM.

Leee, Sunday, 25 March 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

OK WHEECH ONE OF JOO WAN A-RAH

francisF, Sunday, 25 March 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

i missed the first four rounds (of COURSE I GET AROD) someone please do me the favour

francisF, Sunday, 25 March 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wait, apparently I need a FUNCTIONING shortstop.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, my team is slow!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

what happened?

hstencil, Sunday, 25 March 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

i thought i signed up but apparently i didnt?!?

hstencil, Sunday, 25 March 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

you did sign up Stencil, but we had two main problems:

1) someone dropped out of the head to head league right before draft, thereby cancelling draft

2) the commissioner of the aggregate league dropped out, thereby cancelling league

a new league rose from the other one's ashes, we poured one out for you during the draft

Dimension 5ive, Monday, 26 March 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

all yr mvps are belong to me

bnw, Monday, 26 March 2007 06:12 (eighteen years ago)

Keep 'em, I'm rolling with youth and fun.

Dimension 5ive, Monday, 26 March 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

just as well, i probably should just stick with my two other money leagues anyway.

hstencil, Monday, 26 March 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

I ended up with waaaaaaaay too many closers but otherwise I'm happy with my preranked/autopicked team ... except I have to root for Juan Pierre now! Fuck all y'all!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 26 March 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

Barry, I need a better bullpen, anyone on FRANSDEN COMES ALIVE pique your interest?

Thermo, ditto likewise -- what would you like for your Putz? Or Nathan even?

Leee, Monday, 26 March 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

Nathan will cost you your 1st born.
and Putz... well, I s'pose I could use some more speed...

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 26 March 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

This thread has hit rock bottom.

Can someone please tell me:

1. Is there a 2007 ILBB roto league?
2. If so, where can I sign up?

The !!!sDiggKs had the best pre-ranking ever. Please, don't let it go to waste.

f

p.s. Also I have a cute new avatar!

felicity, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry - both leagues folded when Shasta split. And our hastily thrown together roto league already had it's draft.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

If anyone else here agrees with bnw speak up and i'll do next weekend - which, speaking personally means i have to make more time in a week instead of getting it outta the way with now. either way i'm willing to bend if enough people want it next week.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall on Sunday, March 25, 2007 2:05 PM (Yesterday)

Sorry, Thermo, I just re-read your post above. I understand it's a lot of work for you, but if people are willing, I would enjoy this option. If I'm the only one, don't redo it I guess.

felicity, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

WTF
"non-ILBB league"?
Felicty, I'm sorry you missed the draft (also, apologies to hstencil) but unless you can get all the ILBB posters here to agree to redoing the draft (because, you see, it is a ILBB league - I don't know what made you think it wasn't) I think you're sol. bnw suggested pushing the draft back before we actually had it the draft - he wasn't actually suggesting redoing the whole thing. The thought crossed my mind but I don't think we could get everyone organized in time for another draft.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

felicity -- and everyone -- you are all invited into the yard-work.org anti-fantasy draft: click here for details

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

I'd be fine with redoing the whole enchilada if people want. Even if we miss a handful of games.

Or maybe we could resurrect the head to head league and people who missed the roto can get in on that.

bnw, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

i think you get retroactive stats if you start after the season has begun, but dont quote me on that

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

I could deal with that, another league - h2h. Maybe somehting other than 5x5 stats?
I don't think the season starts until the 6th so we have a bit to get ready. I wouldn't mind admining it also. Let's see who else is intersted and what stats we want.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

xpost - you can do that, yes.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

The 2007 Major League Baseball season will begin on April 1st with the New York Mets at the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium

Leee, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

That's ok, Thermo. Maybe next year. :) Sorry to get so huffy up there but I guess we'e all kind of itching to start the new season.

Oh and thanks to Steve Shasta/gygax! for commissioning 3 three years of this. It was fun!

felicity, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha - I was thinking of the J's home opener!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

Hey guys, I think something happened to our fantasy leagues on yahoo!!!!!!

cankles, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

I joined this crazy league. It is HARD to think of how to pre-rank.

Will M., Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Question for everyone in the anti- league has been sent to your email address, plz respond b4 tomorrow.

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

I just saw those emails and I agree. I was quite worried that people were just going to play to break even on AA duds or something.

Will M., Friday, 30 March 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

well whatever, if that's how you win an anti-league then go get bent

i think my way will work x10000

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 30 March 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

Could someone direct me to a detailed explanation of 5x5 roto league scoring? I've read a couple of explanations and they don't tell me shit. Why did we all start with 50 pts. each this morning? I know I got points from Glavine last night, but how are they tallied?

Rock Hardy, Monday, 2 April 2007 20:11 (eighteen years ago)

I think Yahoo is just slow to update (because of the new interface?). I didn't get any points for Reyes, either.

Leee, Monday, 2 April 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

Bump. I'm more baffled than ever, after dropping to next-to-last. Was that all due to Exploding Contreras?

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

Sometimes all it takes is another team doing really well and passing you in a few categories to bump you down. And Contreras was bad enough yesterday to sink even the best of fantasy teams!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

he earned a cool 73 points in the anti- league! can't do much better/worse than that yo.

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

Rock, it's early yet, so big conflagrations have a disproportionate effect on standings.

Leee, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm not panicking yet (not even with Andruw and Frenchy giving the big zilch yesterday), I'm just looking for a detailed explanation of roto league scoring. Anybody anybody? All I need's a link.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/baseball/scoring/basics/baseball-24.html

sometimes it helps to look at our actual league score breakdown:
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/264412/standings

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks Thermo, I completely missed that link to our league's score breakdown. That pretty much gives me the details I was looking for.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

Latest dumb question: how do I put a player on the DL?

I don't know if I'm just dumm or Yahoo's FB site really is so hard to decipher.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 8 April 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

If he has the red dl mark by his name, you can select dl for his position (in the edit column) as long as that game hasn't been played or isn't in progress.

bnw, Sunday, 8 April 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks, I was using drag-and-drop, and DL didn't show up as an available position until I grabbed him and started moving him. "Classic" edit type shows DL in pull-down menus. Argh.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 8 April 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

Aiyo, I'm getting hamstrung by all these PPDed Cleveland games! Are they ever going to make them up?

Leee, Sunday, 8 April 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I imagine when the snow melts....

Steve Shasta, Sunday, 8 April 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

in AUGUST!

j.q higgins, Sunday, 8 April 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

I've been picking my OF starters based on game-time temps.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 8 April 2007 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

Fuck a bunch of Mariners, I mean seriously.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

i just traded chris young for DAVID WRIGHT! what the fuck!!!

cankles, Friday, 13 April 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

I have a couple of questions for the more experienced fantasy leaguers.

How soon before gametimes are starting lineups posted? And does Yahoo Sports show the starting lineups in time to make last minute changes? Cause I would like to have known that Curtis Granderson was getting the night off.

Also, can multiposition players be plugged into the lineup at a position they're not playing on that particular day and still get points? Say, Ty Wigginton (1B/2B/3B/OF) for instance, let's pretend he's on my team. If I play him at 1B and in real life he plays 3B that night, do I still get his production for the night, or is it only if the fantasy manager and the real manager play him at the same position?

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

Lineups are posted about an hour or less before game time. Even when you check, it doesn't necessarily mean that that's going to be the lineup either.

And yes, you get Wiggy points if he plays no matter where.

Dimension 5ive, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

Nice...I was kind of hesitant about drafting multiposition players because I wasn't sure.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 03:14 (eighteen years ago)

This stuff is way too much fun, by the way. "Anything done the first time unleashes a demon," etc etc.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

Each subsequent time also releases a demon.
This years demon; thy name is soriano.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 03:50 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, so, i didn't expect howard to necessarily repeat last season, but, man...he's killin me!

(can't recall at the moment if that's this league or my other one)

j.q higgins, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)

I've got a Pujols-sized anchor around my neck, myself. Thank god for starting pitching.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

I dropped Kinsler to pick up ARMANDOGEDDON. >.<;;;

Leee, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

oh man - in the other head-to-head league i'm in my team has Howard AND Soriano! and i don't even have pitching to fall back on!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

Leee, sent you a trade proposal for your amusement.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

Quite amusing indeed.

(Let me chew on it, I'm really slow as in retarded w/ trades.)

Leee, Friday, 27 April 2007 02:18 (eighteen years ago)

Come on Leee, our boys in uniform deserve an up-or-down vote.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 28 April 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Matt, I have a knee-slapper for you now.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I'm actually thinking seriously about doing it, but I don't really have a good enuf shortstop waiting in the wings

give me 24 hours before giving up on the dream of hanley ramirez

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

I would possibly throw in Furcal for an interesting addition at your end.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

you wanna send me three guys for one shortstop? dude, seriously.

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

One shortstop plus an interesting addition! Three for two. POSSIBLY.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

PTBNL

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE, NEED MANY MORE DAYS?

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

i thought you were going to send me another trade offer with 3 for 2

Dimension 5ive, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

Hmm, I can't edit the trade proposal, I'd have to cancel it and start over. But before I do, is the current 2 for 1 offer a no-go?

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)

I'm having a hard time figuring a 3-for-2 that won't get me laughed out of court.

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 3 May 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sick, give me 24 more hours

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 4 May 2007 01:00 (eighteen years ago)

sorry old bean, couldn't pull the trigger on that the way ichiro's been hitting

sent you a return proposal

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 4 May 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

Haha Ichiro!

Leee, Friday, 4 May 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

AIIEEE! Sorry, can't let Cordero out of my sight.

I have to hang a big chunk of belly tuna around Ichiro's neck to get the other kids to play with him. :-((

Nobody's running away with the league at this point, so I guess I'll just sit tight for a while. But if anybody thinks Ichiro's going to turn it around and is worth a trade, propose to me.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 4 May 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still thinking of something in that area. I do think he'll turn it around, but I'm doing pretty well in his favorite categories.

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 4 May 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

I took this in a different direction and sent another proposal. Do you get an email alert when you get a trade proposal? If you do, I can quit posting these "HEY, CHECK THE BOARD, COACH" messages.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 5 May 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

seen it, contemplating it, probably do it. yes, there are notification emails.

Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 5 May 2007 22:40 (eighteen years ago)

Let's give a hand to my 20th-round sleeper pick, Barry "Lamar" Bonds!

Leee, Saturday, 5 May 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

Who?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 5 May 2007 23:53 (eighteen years ago)

I'll trade you Pujols for him.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 6 May 2007 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

I grabbed Clemens as trade bait, if anybody's interested in him.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 7 May 2007 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

So you have no interest in him whatsoever?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 01:58 (eighteen years ago)

Only as a prime cut of horsemeat.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 02:20 (eighteen years ago)

I'll trade you Clemens for Pujols.

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 02:49 (eighteen years ago)

What? Both of those guys are mine.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 02:53 (eighteen years ago)

Guh! I just realized I had email alerts turned off all this time.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 02:57 (eighteen years ago)

dang it, that Rock Hardy cottoned onto mah latest scheme!

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 03:04 (eighteen years ago)

I will trade you actual horsemeat for clemens

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

don't do it, i heard actual horsemeat is about to go on the dl

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

Thermo, if that horsemeat is named Magglio, I'll do it. (Why the heck am I up at 4:30 a.m.?)

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

So, uh, since I had email alerts turned off, I don't know what happened with the Andruw/Hanley trade. Is that in a waiting period or was it turned down?

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 11:13 (eighteen years ago)

I turned it down, sorry; still thinking about a counter-offer for ol' Hanle y

CR*MP GO TO SLEEP

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

Thermo, you need replacement for Halladay dontcha dontcha dontcha

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 12 May 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I have a rule about yankees. you understand.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 13 May 2007 01:45 (eighteen years ago)

I think somebody's been drinking and trading!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 14 May 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

You mean me or you?

Come on, Mags, baby needs a new pair of shoes.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 14 May 2007 13:59 (eighteen years ago)

JQH, I'm curious if I've got anybody on my team you'd trade Kelly Johnson for.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 20 May 2007 01:45 (eighteen years ago)

let me take a look again.

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

what's your team?

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

Mystery Trainers

I'd love to trade Clemens + O. Hudson for him.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

nope. i already have two other 2b eligible dudes.

i'd do it for ichiro.

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

dude: not interested in clemens!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

....
ah, can't go there. I finally got my outfield plates spinning on their sticks.

xpost sorry dude! D---- WILL NOT OFFER AGAIN

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

Kelly Johnson is a good ballplayer but I would vote against trading Roger Clemens and Orlando Hudson for him, because he's not that good.

Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, so I proposed Clemens-for-a-reliever to 2 teams; one of them accepted. I shouldn't cancel the other proposal in case the accepted one doesn't go through, right? Or am I supposed to cancel the 2nd one and re-propose it if the 1st one doesn't go through?

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 22:29 (eighteen years ago)

Keep 'em both until after the trade goes thru.

Dimension 5ive, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

If the other is also accepted you will have to split roger clemens in two tho.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)

Something to hope for then.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

I finally caved and picked up Pence.
it's about time someone snatched his ass up!
hopefully he'll be able to replace Ordonez alright.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

I know I gave up a lot for Ordonez, but I'm happy with how it's worked out.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 28 May 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

I honestly did not expect you to take that trade - so I'm pretty happy too! Peavy's two performances for me thus far have been amazing and Jones' hitting has started to pick up (two homers in 2 days)! Pence has also picked up the slack for me quite well, so far. well enough i felt comfortable setting JD Drew adrift!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 28 May 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

I knew I had to give up a monster to get a monster, and my pockets were full of starting pitching. I'll be interested to see if Andruw's homers are worth the crappy batting average for you by the end of the season.

I hope Beckett has been resting up while his finger heals. I also hope the Brewers pick it up -- I need those Cordero saves.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 28 May 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

Never mind that ... I can't believe you dropped Vasquez one week after trading the NL's best pitcher for him. Now THAT is indefensible.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 09:52 (eighteen years ago)

i can't believe the dudes that are FAs in our league presently: zimmerman? mccann? rolen?

RIDICULOUS!

we probably should've allowed for larger rosters.

ah, well.

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Dude, you know it wasn't Vasquez I was trading for.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

Then why trade for a guy that you don't even care about? Instead of Vasquez, why didn't you ask for a player that you thought could help your team (regardless of who you were "really" trading for)?

i can't believe the dudes that are FAs in our league presently

A lot of underachievers though, like the guys you mentioned, Johnny Damon, Michael Young ...

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

Because I thought you, like me, were dealing one from column A and then a side order of rice and beans. I seriously didn't want Andruw Jones on my team anymore. Also, getting rid of Andruw opened a roster spot, Beckett had just gone on the DL, and I thought it was worth giving Vasquez at least one start. I have a slight soft spot for the guy -- I saw him pitch a great game against Dontrelle in 2003 when I was in Montreal. (Willis' 1st loss.) As for why I didn't counterpropose something -- I had just made a ton of proposals and had them shot down. I had proposal fatigue.

Today's the first time I've had four starters going on the same day -- excitement!

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

I've unloaded every Atlanta Brave on my team but one -- what am I bid for Francoeur?

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

Last week I dropped Delgado, only to pick him back up as a free agent yesterday. Whattf you guys?

Leee, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

Hahaha, I've done that 2 or 3 times this season.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)

I bet I could do that with all my starting pitchers :/

bnw, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

that sounds like my infield.

i love that's how hollywood our little league is - that i can afford to pass on FAs like Rollen, Damon, Sexson, Young and oooohh look someone dropped McCann!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

That might have been a little hasty, if McCann's finger is finally healing up, but what's done is done. I've been pushing Braves out into traffic left and right.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

YA - I don't think he'll be out there long.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

But yeah, it's weird the FA talent that's out there. The 5th and 6th ranked catchers (Bengie and Varitek) were available, so why not trade up? (Don't answer that.)

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

HAYYY is this trade crazy - edgar renteria and al reyes for adam dunn and ryan shealy? i would be getting dunn/shealy in the deal.

cankles, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

what earthly reason do you have for wanting shealy on your team!?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, that trade is crazy. Dunn's not worth giving up those two, and Shealy isn't even an order of rice and beans.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

i've got peralta to replace renteria (lol) and dunn's gotta be one of the 10 best players in the league right now. do you think he's gonna cool down a lot? (it's too late the trade's already gone thru, :(()

cankles, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

i dont want shealy, that's just what the dude offered for symmetry i guess

cankles, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

I just wanted to announce - that as the commissioner of ILBB I will not be in attendance if or when Bonds breaks the home run record.
Thank you.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

Disrespectful!

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

Is this a black thing? Or a Canada vs US thing?

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

An unfortunate scheduling conflict.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

When will Yahoo cut Carlos Zambrano from the undroppable list????

Leee, Friday, 1 June 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

it's dependent on draft order, leee. you have to trade him or keep him.

Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 2 June 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

Not true anymore! (If ever.)

Leee, Saturday, 2 June 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

If you're certain you want to drop his ass i think i can turn off the list for you.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 2 June 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

¡Oh, thermopaws! You really didn't have to!

Leee, Sunday, 3 June 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

alex rios for takashi saito... y/n??? i would be getting saito

cankles, Monday, 4 June 2007 00:09 (eighteen years ago)

saito is v. good but when rios is hot he's pretty freakin' hot

Dimension 5ive, Monday, 4 June 2007 00:33 (eighteen years ago)

also saito left todays game with somekinda injury.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 4 June 2007 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

ok someone left me the craziest offer ever in my other league, tell me what yall think...

they wanna give me A-rod, Berkman, Dunn, Snell and Otsuka for Hanley Ramirez, M Cabrera, Hudson, Smoltz and matt Capps. is A-Rod enough of an upgrade over miggy for it to be worthwhile? i have jj hardy to start over hanley if i really want to. he also has Carlos Lee on his roster, would it be worth it if i can get him too? he is desperate for pitching so i hold all teh cardz.

cankles, Monday, 4 June 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

of course, in my other league, i'm not even w/in sniffing distance of first.

I sat Torii Hunter yesterday to get Shane Victorino in the lineup. WTF was my problem?

;_;

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 7 July 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

dude i feel you. victorino's been a pimp this year, i cant say i wouldnt have done the same.

cankles, Saturday, 7 July 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

If I could put an all-outfielder team out there, I think I'd be back in 1st place.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 7 July 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

i traded griff for ichiro and then realized i didnt have anyone left who hit homers :'( so now i hope griffey gets injured and dies, or something.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 27 July 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

ade, yr league is severely retarded.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 27 July 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

No, I caught it. I just still want you to sit all your outfielders because I'm in seventh place.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 27 July 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

AH HOW WELL I REMEMBER.

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 27 July 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

i like having specific outfield spots, tho star-quality right fielders are hard to find. which is another reason i'm fucking retarded for trading ichiro, since he's RF eligible :[

cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

I'm seriously tempted to roll dice to see who Victorino replaces tonight. I mean, John Van Benschoten, seriously, Shane's gotta play, he's gonna skullfuck this guy.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I picked Torii.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

sometimes when i am conflicted abt which matchup is best/who to start, i look at where i'm behind in the matchups and where i think i need to put up more numbers, and then start the dude who i think will mb produce more there? like in this league walks and *intentional* walks are stats, and i have barry and pronk. so even when they are sucking (which they are) (fucking hafner) i still start them and get hell of BBs~

cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

this guy in my league had a draft so good that it makes me wanna puke. keep in mind that this was held back in MARCH:

4. (48) B.J. Ryan

19. (217) Brad Penny

22. (264) Alex Gordon

cankles, Monday, 30 July 2007 12:37 (eighteen years ago)

Prince Fielder slipped to the 15th round? No wonder his draft was so good, he knew he was drafting against a whole bunch of addled stoners.

Dimension 5ive, Monday, 30 July 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

either that/and it's a 5 team league.

j.q higgins, Monday, 30 July 2007 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

Well Ryan is out for the season, Zumaya's also injured & Piazza just got off a long stint on the dl! But overall that is pretty gross.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 30 July 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

12 teams, i wasnt there or i sure as shit wouldnt have taken santana with my first pick. also 10 of those 12 people are retarded and/or women. the second overall pick was... ivan rodriguez. i shit you not. a-rod went in the second round.

tbh fielder wasnt on my radar at all coming into this season, i mean i know he was ranked higher pre-season but still.

piazza's been mashing it since he finally came back!

cankles, Monday, 30 July 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)

Oh i know - he's on me team!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 30 July 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

sweet jesus i traded johan santana for alex rios

cankles, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

Sixth place, it was nice knowing you.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

yahoo seems to be borken right now... finally my horrifying plunge downward has temporarily been halted!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 30 August 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, Thermopaws. Complain only after you fall 25 points in the standings, from first to 6th place, where I am in dire need of changing my "smack talk."

On the bright side, at least my new cellar dwelling has given me the freedom to add my team's namesake to the roster, finally! And to spell his name correctly.

Leee, Thursday, 30 August 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

Well - true, I wasn't in a 25 point free-fall, but my slippage was made more troublesome by the fact I actually have a good team. ;)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 30 August 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like I'll hit my maximums at OF and UTIL with about 10 days left in the season. I don't understand how that happened -- I never played more than one person per day in any position, so how am I 22 games over my max?

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 9 September 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

because there are not exactly 162 calendar days in a 162-game season

Dimension 5ive, Monday, 10 September 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

Oh shit, I think I see what you're saying. So, on off days I needed to make sure I moved players to the bench, and leave the positions unfilled? I didn't even think of that.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 10 September 2007 03:51 (eighteen years ago)

guys can we talk playoff STRATEGY?? i am matched against the no 1 seed this week and he is killing me (5-7 rn). the stats in the league are super weird:

batting: R, H, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, CS, BB, IBB, K, TB, E

pitching: W, L, CG, SHO, SV, HR, BB, HBP, K, WP

a bunch of these are non predictive (complete games, triples etc), which i hate. anyway my hitting is pretty competetive but his pitching is infinitely better than mine. the thing i noticed tho is that there's 5 negative pitching stats as opposed to 2 for batting. that's half of the 10 pitching stats. i'm trying to figure out if attempting to compete in wins, k's and saves (basically the only positive stats i have any control over) is worth risking the possibility of racking up a ton of negative stats. man i dunno!!!!!

(i understand why H2H is so cool now - even if you had a mediocre season, if you make the playoffs anything's possible. catching up in roto is a long-term project)

cankles, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe I picked up Zito!!!

Leee, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:30 (eighteen years ago)

So am I in freefall yet, dude? In 5th heading lightspeed towards 6th!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

LOL welcome to irrelevance, my friend!

Leee, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

I wonder how far I'll fall once I hit my maximums.

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 13 September 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

we can plunge together!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 13 September 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

...

Leee, Thursday, 13 September 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

in the standings.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 14 September 2007 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha

Rock Hardy, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

oh my god i am so furious right now. i had the most epic george mason-style matchup last week, my shitty ass team against the number one seed - i didnt have a shot!!!! but i scrapped and clawed my way from being 7-2 to tying it up at 8-8 yesterday... ONLY TO LOSE THE FUCKING SHITBAG TIEBREAKER.

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock will be broken using the following system:

(See below if your league does not use one or more of the following categories.)

1. Lowest team ERA.
2. Highest team AVG.
3. Lowest team WHIP.
4. Most team HR.
5. Most team wins.
6. Most team RBI.
7. Most team saves.
8. Most team runs.
9. Most team SO.
10. Most team SB.
11. Random "coin flip."

it came down to most team wins, which I had zero of because I made the strategic decision to bench all my starters halfway thru the week - his pitching was too competetive for me to take on, so i figured i'd let him pile up the negative pitching stats. we tied in homers tho and then i got assfucked. so pissed rn~

IN THE EVENT OF MY DIVINE VICTORY, MY MOMMY WILL STORE THE CUP UNTIL THE DAY OF MY MID-WINTER WINNERS PARADE

Dear Leeeeee and Matt,

Don't blow this for me.

Barry

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 30 September 2007 10:00 (eighteen years ago)

top 4 be tight!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 30 September 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

i did like a mets style swan dive in september

bnw, Sunday, 30 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

I am admittedly mediocre like the Phillies with an offense that went nuts in the second half and a pitching staff that kept me in it by some sort of miracle.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 30 September 2007 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

Although I have to say, no matter what happens today, that I think I did a good job in piecing together that pitching staff. If I lose, it's because I panicked (possibly with good reason though) when nobody was hitting in May-June and benched my SB guys, hoping to rack up more power numbers (which didn't happen at the time).

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 30 September 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

ah well, you earned the lightfoot cup this year, dude.

i'd have to say i'm disapointed i didn't do better. i had the hands down best pitching staff and was either 1st or 2nd place for most the year and couldn't keep it together. i'm pretty sure when i wake up tomorrow i'll still be in 4th.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 30 September 2007 23:46 (eighteen years ago)

Tied for 5th, unless points are adjusted later. I can live with that in my first year, even with that weeklong taste of 1st place. Solid in most categories, def. need to draft smarter for offense next year.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

in hindsight i dont' think our trade was the best thing for my team :(

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'd say Maggs was a definite improvement for me, and worth the Peavy.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 1 October 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

Considering that your pitching staffs headed in opposite directions after the trade, I'd say that the trade did exactly what it was expected to do. I think RH overestimated his pitching staff and underestimated his hitters. At the time, I personally would have traded Penny or Beckett at the peak of their value (which could have brought approximately the same return), but then again those guys didn't crash in the 2nd half like many people thought they would so what the hell do I know.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 1 October 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Who is the Mets and who is the Phillies???

Congrats, bnw!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 1 October 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, congrats on somehow grabbing four wins in two days thanks to some guy named Homer Bailey and despite Pettite getting shelled.

Seriously though, nice job. It was a fun season.

Ha haha!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I totally thought Pettite blew it for me, and somehow homer bailey won despite giving up like 6 runs or something.

bnw, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)

well i don't see what the big hassle was with being commissioner.
i don't mind taking care of the '08 league if we're all still down - i'll start a thread for it in the new year and we can sort out how we want it to work. in advance!
c'est bon?

congrats again BNW, even tho we were short on managers it was a fun season!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

Yup, congrats. Pretty fun for me this year, the learning curve was an e-ticket ride. I'm sure I'll be back next season, will attempt to eat all y'all's liver with fava beans, etc.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

Congrats I suppose to whoever won who wasn't me.

Barry, did I do my part and not hit more HRs than you?
