Alyssa you have to be the most intriguing and beautiful tv/movie star the world has ever known. Why, you ask? I'm not sure exactly but has there ever been a beautiful actress, who also knew so much about baseball? I don't think so; you're one of a kind Alyssa. How did your vacation go? Is there anything we, as your fans can do to support our favorite actress/baseball afficionado? Any acting endeavors for Alyssa Milano fans on the horizon? What do you think about Paris Hilton? I think she's been handling herself with a hi degree of class and dignity. I think we sometimes forget that actors and actresses are very human and not so much different from ourselves. Anyway Alyssa; I want you to know that although your life may not be exactly like most of your fans, we all appreciate you just the same. As far as baseball goes; I'm probably about as knowledgeable as your mother.

I got to meet Dmitri Young. He isn’t built for power. He isn’t built for speed. He is built for comfort and has the loveliest way about him. You can tell he has overcome a lot and was truly ecstatic to be there.
Although Ichiro’s inside-the-park home run was beautiful to watch, for me the highlight of the whole game was Dmitri Young’s five-pitch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth. It’s these fleeting moments that make me a baseball fanatic. (“Fan” just doesn’t suffice. I prefer the whole word.) With two outs and a long journey to redefine his career, he singled, paving the way for Alfonso Soriano’s two-run homer. When Dmitri got back to the dugout, he looked up in the stands, we made eye contact and he pumped both fists in the air. He then started dancing to the music.
And I danced, too.

Alyssa Milano is still everyone's favorite All-American girl. She goes the extra mile to help entertain US troops and apparently is quite the fan of baseball and more than that ballplayers. How can you not love her? According to Us Weekly this weekend, Milano, who has been previously linked to pitchers Barry Zito, Carl Pavano and Brad Penny, played it cool in her dugout seats as the Dodgers hosted the New York Mets at Chavez Ravine.
But an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com "she was smiling a lot." Meanwhile Martin is said to have rushed off the diamond after the game to text Milano in the stands. How sweet.
The Charmed actress, 34, flirted with Martin, 24, at the all-star game on July 11, and was overheard telling a friend she thought the catcher was cute. In a blog entry about the meeting, Milano sarcastically wrote:
"Okay, yeah, so I finally met Russell Martin. No big deal. And yeah, I was cool. Yup. And I didn’t have sweaty palms. Nope. I didn’t get star struck. Nope. I wasn’t even weak in the knees. Nope. My upper lip did NOT start sweating nor did I get blotchy and break out in hives. Phew. Thank God not one of those embarrassing things happened. I was cool as a cucumber. No big deal."

Right or wrong, it’s over. We are left with judgment relative to our own rights and our own wrongs. Hero or villain, Barry Bonds is our home run king and one of the greatest hitters baseball has ever known.
What are we left with? Nothing really. We are left with nothing and upon further reflection, that’s what makes me a bit melancholy. I sat with my dad and watched a game that I could care less about, while a man I have no compassion for, broke a record in the sport I love and I truly felt nothing. No tears of joy. No goose bumps. Not even anger.
Nothing.
At least it’s over.

Dear Mr. Little,
Hi! I know you’re real busy with the pennant race and all so I won’t take up too much of your time. I beg of you, in the future please refrain from batting anyone with a batting average under the Mendoza Line in the CLEANUP spot. I’m all for Saenz getting the start at first to get some more at-bats and give Loney a break, but you may want to consider batting him appropriately for a .185 hitter. Just a suggestion. Call me crazy.
Ethier_1 Also, while I have your attention I’ve got another crazy suggestion: You may want to check out Ethier’s numbers against lefties (AVG. – .329, OBP - .372, SLG - .466) and start him accordingly. With the way he’s been hitting, there is no reason for him not to get the start against lefties unless he is hurt. Crazy right?
Thanks, Alyssa Milano Dodger fanatic
Peace, Love, AND BASEBALL, Alyssa

For release: September 13, 2007 TBS Scores Alyssa Milano for Online MLB Postseason Reporting Role Actress Alyssa Milano to serve as correspondent for TBS Hot Corner on MLB.com
TBS, exclusive home of the MLB Division Series and National League Championship Series (NLCS), announced today that Alyssa Milano will serve as an online personality for the network’s new baseball broadband channel, TBS Hot Corner on MLB.com. Milano, whose extensive acting career has included television roles on Charmed, Melrose Place and Who’s the Boss? and was recently added as a reoccurring character on My Name is Earl, will be featured regularly on the channel providing reports and special features from ballparks across the country. A longtime LA Dodgers fan and season-ticket holder, Milano is a baseball enthusiast who currently pens the Touch ’Em All blog on MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, at http://alyssa.mlblogs.com. The blog, which has attracted nearly 400,000 unique visitors in its first season, was cited as one of the top celebrity blogs by Entertainment Weekly. Additionally, in 2007 she launched the clothing line Touch, specializing in women’s MLB apparel. Her latest film, Pathology, will be released by MGM in late November.
"This is a dream job,” said Milano. “I am looking forward to bringing baseball fans a unique, insiders perspective on the game we love and I'm appreciative to TBS and MLB.com for this amazing opportunity.”
Beginning Sept. 17, Milano will contribute regular reports and features from MLB parks as teams battle it out for postseason contention. From interviews with players, coaches and fans, to features on calorie counting at the park and the best in baseball attire, Milano will serve as the hands-on roving reporter giving fans the inside-the-stadium scoop from a mix of American and National League ballparks.
“Alyssa Milano has been a popular figure in the world of entertainment for a number of years and we’re excited to pair her star power with her passion for baseball to give fans an insiders look at the MLB postseason,” said Jeff Ogan, Turner Sports senior director of production. “In her role on TBS Hot Corner she’ll take fans behind-the-scenes from the clubhouse to the concession stands, offering entertaining reports on all things baseball like only she can.”

In my free time, I learned how to crochet (insert old lady joke here) and have been glued to the news for the primary coverage. It is so beautiful that people are engaged again in politics. And although I think both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would do a good job running the country, I voted for Obama on Super Tuesday. His message of hope has renewed my faith in politics. After the last (disenchanting) eight years of “fear politics” and controversy, it’s inspiring to feel hopeful again.

Which brings me to another point: If a player isn't producing, I don't care how much we are paying him ($18 million a year, is it?) -- either sit him or send him down to Triple-A. Putting him out there every night isn't helping matters. Andre Ethier, Juan Pierre and Matt Kemp should be our outfield right now, especially since every Jones at-bat is riddled with a vocal crowd that is causing more harm to the issue.
Andruw, if you happen to be reading this (by some miracle), hang in there buddy. I know this can't be an easy time for you. You are a competitor. Of course, I can't speak for every Dodger fan out there, but in my circle of family and friends, we want you to succeed. We have compassion for what you are going through and know that you will eventually pull out of this. I'll be cheering you on from my couch and the stands.

I don’t believe the Alyssa Effect has received sufficient attention by the statistical community. I took a closer look at the data based on dating information provided by this site.
While only 3 of her 26 documented relationships are major league starting pitchers, I think the results are interesting and reasonably predictive in the event she reneges on her 2008 pledge to swear off dating baseball players.
Exhibit A: Carl Pavano (2003)During their 2003 relationship, Pavano made 33 starts and posting 12 wins with a 4.30 ERA (33/12/4.30). In 2004 after their breakup he improved dramatically to (31/18/3.00). However this euphoria proved short lived, as Yankee fans can attest, and he regressed in 2005 to (17/4/4.77).
Exhibit B: Barry Zito (2004-05)Zito’s dating numbers averaged (34.5/12.5/4.53), remarkably similar to Pavano’s. After the breakup he also improved in 2006 to (34/16/3.83), nearly as big an improvement as Pavano’s. What happened the year after? You guessed it, regression to (33/11/4.53).
Exhibit C: Brad Penny (2006)Penny’s dating year of 2006 was also an unspectacular (29/7/3.90). He then experienced what I am now terming the Milano Bounce with a nice (33/16/4.33) and continued this into 2008 with a (33/16/3.03). Because we are not using precise dates on the relationship, the numbers are only estimates but it appears Brad remained mentally strong for a longer period before succumbing to the inevitable Milano Meltdown with a 2009 line of (19/6/6.27).
Conclusions:For GM’s and fantasy enthusiasts, the conclusions from a small but consistent sample size are: (1) expect mediocrity during the dating period, possibly related to distractions brought on by the newly smitten couple, (2) buy low as soon as a breakup is announced to take advantage of the Milano Bounce, and (3) sell high after one season to be safe before the predictable Milano Meltdown sets in.

So... speaking of green, Nomar possibly to the A's? I am going to miss him.
Did you hear Vin call Hudson: "O Dog", on Sunday? My dad and I laughed.
And... speaking of another kind of green, the whole Manny fiasco was kind of numbing. I am happy to hear that he and the club finally have agreed on the two-year deal. Don't get me wrong; I love the guy on our team. I want the guy on our team. He makes the difference. He is worth big money. But when we are in a time where people are struggling to keep their homes and jobs, following this obscene negotiation seemed like a total alternate reality. If I were Manny, I would have taken a big (and I mean BIG) sum of the first year's salary and given it to outreach organizations for at-risk children in and around Los Angeles. Or even better...he could have settled on 40 million for two years, 20 million a year, and negotiated another 8 million in donations that could be "deferred payments", to the charities of Manny's choice. Frank then could have just written off the 8 mil as donations, Manny would be making a difference in a struggling economy, and we could have just moved on from all this craziness and play ball. Instead, it dragged into Spring Training and now is finally settled.
Anyhoo, I'm venting. I've just noticed that this entry kind of has a green theme.
In other news, I'm about to start another pilot for ABC. That's all I'm going to say about that. Yup. I don't want to jinx it. Gribbet.

I can't believe in this economically depressed times ABC thinks that it's wise to waste money on an Alyssa Milano pilot. Those dollars could be used feed starving children.

The former "Who's The Boss?" star went on to say that her favorite player right now is Dodgers outfield Manny Ramirez because she loves the energy that he has brought to the team since being traded to Los Angeles last year. But she also enjoys great pitching -- citing Dodgers hurlers Clayton Kershaw and Chad Billingsley -- as two of her favorites.
But later on she was asked about a former flame (or it is flame-thrower?), Cleveland Indians pitcher Carl Pavano. The two dated briefly around 2004, and when told that he was going to be pitching Sunday afternoon against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, she said: "That's not going to be pretty."
While she spoke highly of Pavano's work ethic and dedication to baseball, she did make some rather candid statements about the former Yankees pitcher.
"He's got a lot of talent," Milano said. "But I think it's become a head game for him. If I were him, I would've stayed out of the American League."

Yesterday, May 6, 2009, I went to bed elated by the news that the Dodgers made history. Just 10 hours later, I woke up disheartened by the news that Manny Ramirez was suspended for 50 games due to testing positive for an MLB banned substance. I then proceeded to comfort eat. I ate two muffins with a side of frosted flakes. I now feel puffy.

“I just got chills with Pujols, during the Home Run Derby, with all the cheering,” Milano said. “I came here last year for an appearance at the stadium and was so struck. It’s awesome to see and be a part of.”
She is a big Dodgers fan, but she has mixed feelings about mop-topped star Manny Ramirez.
“When he first got there, I wore the wig,” Milano said. “I actually made a wig.”
But then Manny got a 50-game ban for using performance enhancing drugs.
“I don’t know how I feel about him now,” she said. “It weird when somebody from your team has steroids smeared over him.”

I married my best friend on Aug. 15 and I've truly never been happier. He is a beautiful person and I'm blessed to have found him.
He does have one minor, itsy bitsy, flaw though -- he's a diehard Yankees fan. Ah well, no one's perfect. I've chosen to overlook this because he just makes me so damn happy.
I know what your next question will be. I can hear you think it.
"What if the Yankees play the Dodgers in the World Series?" you ask.
I have no freaking clue. I may have to move back in with my parents for a while. Just writing that last sentence made me giggle. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.
Please accept my apologies for not updating my blog in a while. Between my wedding, honeymoon and being in preproduction for "Romantically Challenged", I have had my hands full of excitement. Oh wait, did I tell you that "Romantically Challenged", was picked up for midseason? It was! This has been an overwhelming year. I am blessed

Anyone who grew up in the '80s has a soft spot for Alyssa Milano. The Who's the Boss star and Dodgers fanatic has a new sitcom, Romantically Challenged, that debuts tonight on ABC at 9:30 pm. ET. Milano recently took time out to answer five quick questions for Hot Clicks Nation.
SI.com: Everyone knows you are a huge Dodgers fan. What's your prediction for the team this year? What is your biggest concern about them?
Milano: I never make baseball season predictions. Truly, anything can happen in baseball because the season is so damn long. I appreciate every game and just ride the wave. For the last few years, my concern has been our starting rotation and the fact we haven't had a true "ace" for quite some time. Other than that, I'm concerned with the McCourt's and the circus their divorce has turned into.
SI.com: Your new show is called Romantically Challenged. Romantically challenged athletes have been in the news a lot lately. What advice would you give Tiger and Elin Woods?
Milano: Ha! I would tell Tiger not to begin messages to mistresses with "Hi. This is Tiger." In my experience, not THAT many men's first names are Tiger. All kidding aside, I'm the wrong person to be giving advice to the romantically challenged. I'm happily married now, but my journey to find my happily ever after was filled with crazy amounts of angst and strike outs (pun intended). Ultimately though, I feel that everyone is on their own path and no one really knows the inner workings of a relationship, but the two people that are in it. I wish them both well and hope they are taking the steps to heal and grow.
SI.com: You have a clothing line of sports apparel for women. Which team (besides the Dodgers) do you think has the coolest uniform in sports? Which team has the ugliest?
Milano: I love the Yankees uni's. In football, I love the New York Giants colors. In basketball, I like the Celtics uniforms. Hockey, the New York Rangers. I tend to gravitate toward the classic uniforms that haven't changed much through the years. The ugliest uniform had to have been the late '70s-early '80s Pirates uniform with the striped cap! The '80s were just not a good era for fashion in general.
SI.com: You're a big Tweeter. What do you like most about Twitter? Is there anything you don't like about it?
Milano: I love that Twitter can be anything the user makes it. I love that it makes me feel like I am a member of a community and that it gives me a platform to use my voice to inspire positive change. There really isn't anything I don't like about Twitter as a service, although, there are times that I don't like how a user chooses to use the service. I have seen numerous accounts that seem to be used solely to spread hurtful or ignorant views. Luckily, there is a "block" button.
SI.com: What do you think Samantha Micelli is doing today?
Milano: Samantha Micelli owns a baseball team. Duh.

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0419/la_u_milano_400.jpgMarkazi: Before you got married last year the old joke was you had dated quite a pitching staff after going out with Brad Penny, Carl Pavano and Barry Zito. Do you think there was something about pitchers you were into or was their position purely a coincidence?
Milano: No, I think they were all very, very different. Going to Dodgers games was my social life and is my social life so I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of the players and since I wasn't meeting men elsewhere I wound up dating a few guys.
Markazi: Does that change how you watch the game at all when you're going out with the player?
Milano: You get an insider's perspective that is cool but also you're much more aware of the struggles the players go through and how hard that job really is after your time in a relationship with them and how stressful their job was. Before that I had this perspective that they're playing a little boy's game. I wish I could play a game for a living and be outside all the time. I couldn't quite wrap my head around how hard the pressure was so I do think I have a different type of appreciation for what they do.

Nope, but that relationship gave me baseball. I think from all my relationships I learn something about myself—and about humanity—and my Love of baseball was one thing that I learned there. And, also, that just because you're 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, it doesn't mean you're big all over.
