A-Gonz isn't a bum but had a ~.725 OPS for the first half of the season. That's pretty rough for a $21mn-per 1B and when it lasts that long it remains in the public's memory even if you start hitting again (as A-Gonz has).

It's like you can't even have half a a mediocre season in Boston without being torn to shreds. Imagine if Pujols had started the year in Boston instead of LA.
