Take Deb and Sara (formerly known as Mike), a Brooklyn couple whose first date went so well, they ended up at Home Depot ogling chains and ropes and playing in Mike's van in the parking lot. Thirteen years later, they are married, and say they explore all facets of their sexuality together, incorporating electricity, knives and other potentially risky tools in what some might refer to as "edge" play, as well as activities like ABDL (adult baby, diaper lover) that don't necessarily fit under the BDSM rubric. Deb, 55, says she and Sara, 41, are so close they've ceased using a safe word: They can sense the others' boundaries just by breath and nonverbal cues. When she plays with others, Deb, a lifelong Mets fan, uses the phrase "Yankees Rule," which she could only utter under extreme duress.

― k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 March 2013 02:59 (twelve years ago)
lolololololololol
Even when they're on the field, players aren't safe from the butt dialer. First baseman Ike Davis said he's received more than 100 butt dials from Horwitz, but none confused him more than the one he received during a game.
"When I got back to my locker, I checked my phone and the missed call was from 8:10 p.m.," Davis said. "I'm like, why would he call me at that time? I'm at first base. He sees me at first base."
Players try to seek refuge during the off-season, but the butt dialer finds them. Ex-Met Jason Bay learned that the hard way a few winters ago. "I called him back right away and said, 'What's going on?'" Bay said. "He said, 'What do you mean what's going on?'"

I guess so. Long ago there was a certain amount of mystique attached to the mid-season acquisition of Donn Clendenon in '69, but looking him up, his impact must have been exaggerated: .252/.321/.455., 12 HR, 37 RBI from June 15 forward, pretty good for the era but hardly earth-shattering. No MVP votes, either (he got a few the next year).
― clemenza, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 20:46 (eleven years ago)

the whole 'booing wright' thing is kind of embarrassing, although i think/hope a fair bit of it is ironic at this point. pedro is in the derby, ffs (and i'll bet he sucks at it)
it's kind of bullshit that mlb puts wright/cano in that position re the hr derby tho

Oh. Fuck.
Tommy John surgery may be required, although a decision will wait two to three weeks, until swelling subsides and a clearer assessment of the extent of the tear can be determined.
Harvey expressed hope he could avoid surgery by strengthening the area around the ligament tear, although Alderson noted pitching through partial tears often is unsuccessful and suggested the procedure ultimately might be required anyway.

dear Matt Harvey,
get the fucking surgery. chad billingsley waited all off-season after spraining his ucl around the same time last year and getting a platelet rich injection.. he lasted about a week in spring training and had to get TJ. if he got the surgery done he would be ready for the 3rd year of his 3 yr deal. Now he might be in the pen at the end of the 2014 season.. maybe..

any good lines?
This seems pointless:
Harvey has decided to forego surgery in favor of rest and rehab, with the hope being he can return in 2014, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
There is no guarantee that this approach will work, but it's worth a shot. Harvey will attempt to rehab his right elbow, and begin a throwing program 1-2 months after that -- if it turns out that there is still pain, or his condition worsens, he can undergo off-season Tommy John surgery and still be in line to return for the start of the 2015 season.
