wow, this woman (can't really peg her age, 20s probably, obviously in some college class, one of her books is "myth & knowing")is sitting directly opposite me at a small table in the library and she is stunning. like mischa barton but way prettier. saffron burrows is a better comparison. i apologized when i accidentally bumped our laptops together (not a euphemism) and she very kindly said "that's ok"
hitting on her not really an option, but she is distracting.

I played a show opening for the Horrors and we had bought a dozen or so goldfish. The plan was that the live goldfish would be in champagne glasses at the front of the stage, and that during the show we would knock them into the audience. Lead singer of the Horrors heard about this and pitched a fit and the club owner wouldn't let us do it. Several members of our band were even appearing on a split 7" with him, and he still wouldn't let us go through with that plan.
Of course, the goldfish all ended up in the toilet. A more dignified way to go?

Art Thoughtz: Beuys-Z
Youngman introduces his Internet audience to the concept of "Personal Mythology" by comparing the work of artist Joseph Beuys and Jay-Z. By paralleling Beuys's story of being shot down in the Crimea when he was a fighter pilot with Jay-Z's tale surviving several shots fired at him at point-blank, among other examples, Youngman is able to establish a commonality between two otherwise disparate artists.

Emotions account for all of the story development in the play, as Tilly uses her melancholy and other emotions to influence the other characters. Love is also a prominent theme in the play, as it can lead to melancholy or happiness. The characters all seem to be searching for love and try to find it wherever and whenever they can to escape the mundanity of their lives. Love changes their emotions and can lead to happiness or strife.

Repressive Subderplimation is a term first coined by philosopher and sociologist Herbert Marcuse in his 1964 work One-Dimensional Man, that refers to the way in which, in advanced capitalism, “sexuality is liberated (or rather liberalized) in socially constructive forms”[1] so as to serve, rather than to challenge, forms of social control. Rather than acting against the social order (as the repressive hypothesis would suggest),[2] sexual liberation was thus co-opted to support the repressive order, through the undoing of sublimations and the release of pleasure in socially approved forms.

18. Lacan connects this case study to his schema of subjectivity: ... Is it the reality of objects that is at issue? Who normally speaks in reality, for us? Is it reality, exactly, when someone speaks to us? The point of the remarks I made to you last time on the other and the Other, the other with a small o and the Other with a big O, was to get you to notice that when the Other with a big O speaks it is not purely and simply the reality in front of you, namely the individual who is holding forth. The Other is beyond that reality. In true speech the Other is that before which you make yourself recognized. But you can make yourself recognized by it only because it is recognized first. (50-51)

Ro-, ro-, ro- your bro't, Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.
― nachomon real (nakhchivan), Saturday, 2 November 2013 14:43 (eleven years ago)
The idea that human beings travel along a certain stream [time] and suggests boundaries in the path of choices and in free will.[4] The third line recommends that challenges should be greeted in stride while open to joy with a smile.[5] Some have questioned the song's implied necessity to row one's boat downstream. This may in fact be a commentary on the paradoxical nature of time's arrow with respect to man's free will in a universe of materialistic causality.[6] The final line, "life is but a dream", is perhaps the most meaningful. With a religious point of view, life and the physical plane may be regarded as having equivalent value as that of a dream, such that troubles are seen in the context of a lesser reality once one has awakened.[7]

The Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri, is a theme park run by PMI. In January 2007, PMI announced the discontinuation of many of its attractions, including the "Fountain of Angels", due to "financial difficulties arising from diminished numbers of paid visitors resulting from higher gas prices and the general decline of the brand". Other closures include the "Wedding Island", "The "RV Park", "The Gallery", and "Souper Sam’s". In Spring 2007, "The Gallery" was remodeled, renamed "The Samuel J. Butcher Museum" and reopened.[8] The chapel, gift shop, and visitors' center continue to be open to the public

Finally watched this. Great fun, good cinematography, good soundtrack, etc. I couldn't really buy Franco's performance. He did a good job but it was just a bit too actor-y for me. The women did a way better job. I think I liked "Trash Humpers" more though.

Jarvis Cocker: A few years ago, I read a quote of yours that said that you wanted to purge your voice of emotion... that kind of foxed me a bit, because if you have got a voice which is emotional, why would you neuter it?
Scott Walker: I wanted to get it more neutral, because a lot of my earlier records are very heart-on-the-sleeve. As I've gone on, I want everything to be clear and heard without any emotional distraction. A lot of emotion can be absolute bullshit, you know, lying to yourself too. I'm trying to just be a person singing, without my personality or anything else particularly. I'm going to sound pretentious now, but it's not the first time, so, have you ever seen any Robert Bresson films?
JC: No. Say some films - I might know them.
SW: He's a famous French director; he's dead now.

Freemen will try to claim common law (as opposed to admiralty law) jurisdiction by asking "Do you have a claim against me?" This, they contend, removes their consent to be governed by admiralty law and turns the court into a common law court, so that proceedings would have to go forward according to their version of common law. This procedure has never been used successfully.[2]

Among his reported claims are that moderate drinking is less harmful than being teetotal, and that it’s only after drinking 13 units per day that alcohol is harmful. The Mail claims that UK guidelines are therefore too stringent, as the government currently recommends a maximum of one large glass of wine for women (2-3 units), and slightly more for men (3-4 units), per day.
According to the article, Professor Poikolainen has looked at "decades of evidence" to draw these conclusions. Sadly none of this evidence is mentioned in the article*, and his comments fly in the face of current alcohol guidance from governments and the vast majority of public health scientists.

The Wycherleys' bodies were unearthed last October from the back garden of their home, where they had lain undiscovered since 1998.
In a 15-year deception, the murderers tricked friends and family into believing the Wycherleys were still alive while spending their way through £250,000 of their victims' savings.
The Edwardses frittered away tens of thousands of pounds on an eclectic collection of celebrity memorabilia, including £14,000 worth of collectibles relating to 1950s actor Gary Cooper and an autograph collection worth £20,000. On arrest they were £160,000 in debt.
At the same time, Susan Edwards kept up the pretence that her parents were alive, sending Christmas cards to relatives assuring them all was well. In one, she told a relative her father was enjoying his "second youth", travelling in Ireland.
The deception started to unravel last September when the couple fled to Lille, France, after being spooked by letters from the Department for Work and Pensions requesting an interview with William Wycherley to continue his benefits. There had also been letters from Buckingham Palace congratulating the late William Wycherley on what royal officials believed was his upcoming 100th birthday.

Her Serene Highness Princess Theodora Sayn-Wittgenstein was in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court after admitting telling first aider Farah Jasmin Hussain: 'I was doing my nails this morning - I wondered how many Muslims I could kill.'
She attended the exclusive Oktoberfest party held at Kinkell Byre every March with friends and at the end of the night she tried to climb a fence before stripping off some of her outfit.
The charity Oktoberfest event is held annually by St Andrews students but attracts guests from around the world.
At last year's event an international businessman, Emanuele Ferrero Ventimiglia, who lives in one of London's most expensive streets, bit off part of a security guard's ear.
But he was acquitted of an assault charge after a jury decided he acted in self defence.

The survey said that 41% of transgender people have attempted suicide. It does not mention the percentage that were not alive to fill out the survey. I am guessing by what the general 'success' rate for suicide is that that number should really be more like 70%.Log in or register to post commentssormse46Thu, 2014-06-26 17:26Permalink//////// Its awesome.. WTF are you pple talking about?? Uruguay a poor third world country with ugly pple??? I mean...i can realize by that that u ve never visited that country before. In fact Uruguayan pple came (90%) from direct europe immigrants mainly from Italy and Spain. They r the most european population in latin america, more than argentina. They are the only country in latinamerica which dont have native pple because sadly they were all killed, and thats why (as a recognition) they named themselves as "charruas" which were the natives there.

Blunt trauma to the chest can cause cardiac rupture, but that takes quite a bit more force than a punch (MVA etc). A strong blow to the chest can disrupt the cardiac rhythm, could produce a fatal arrhythmia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_thump

A 25-year-old man has been jailed after filming Fast and Furious 6 in a cinema and selling copies of the movie on Facebook.
Wolverhampton crown court heard that in May last year, Philip Danks used a camcorder to record the film on its release day, before uploading it the following day. The UK release date was also the first time the film was released anywhere in the world, and it was downloaded more than 700,000 times from Danks's Facebook page.
Additionally, Danks offered copies of the film for sale on Facebook for £1.50, "alongside other well-known films such as Iron Man 3", according to the Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact).
Sentencing Danks to 33 months, Judge Keith Raynor said the case was unusual because of so many aggravating factors including the fact that Danks actually recorded the film, that it was the first release worldwide, and that Danks also offered physical copies for sale.
Raynor described Danks's actions as "bold, arrogant and cocksure", and said the seriousness of the offence had led to a multimillion pound loss to the film industry.

Posted by BellCurve on (September 22, 2014, 10:30 GMT)I've been playing and watching cricket for more than 30 years. For the last 8 years or so I have enjoyed the services and forums of ESPNCricinfo. However, reverse racism (such as the quota outrage in SA and the recent Gale affair) combined with rise of Indian nationalism and the commercialisation of the T20 format have ruined the sport for me. I have therefore decided to focus on other interests. So long and thanks for all the fish.

I hadn't read the article, I didn't know she hadn't actually escaped being raped, but was raped and escaped after the fact...I donno, my snark was in bad taste but it was ment to be cheeky, not evil. :/ so yeah, I'm an asshole. The end. Ok bye

Charles Buxton, like his father Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, was in the brewing industry. He was also an active MP. Writing in 1856, he expressed the hope that the house he was then designing for himself would "turn out beautiful and picturesque" (qtd. in Nairn and Pevsner 597); but Ian Nairn and Nikolaus Pevsner find it quite otherwise, describing it as "big and violent, with crow-stepped gables and glowing diaper polychrome brickwork throughout" (246).

MercurialRythyms8 months ago I don't like to watch this anymore, or anything real or fictional from the 70's, since the revelations. It's pure superstition I suppose, but I felt ill-at-ease watching any 70's tv since I was an infant. I dunno. Seems like the decade of 'should have known-better-but decided-to rape-children-anyway'. Just seems like a time when no-one was TAKING CARE. I hate this kingdom, it's monarchy, it's underclass, it's overclass, it's welcoming of all the abominations of the third-world, etc etc etc. I hate and loath this land absolutely.

The pollutant methylmercury is a globally distributed neurotoxin and an endocrine system disruptor. In the Everglades ecosystem, human pollution has led to increased concentrations of methylmercury, which have impacted the behaviors of the American white ibis.[67] Hormone levels in males are affected, leading to a decrease in the rates of key courtship behavior, and fewer approaches by females during the mating season.[68] In addition, methylmercury also increased male-male pairing behaviors by 55%. Both the chemically induced "homosexual" behavior and the diminished ability to attract females by males have reduced reproduction rates in affected populations.

Bangladesh cricketer Rubel Hossain has been granted bail by a Dhaka court, three days after he was sent to jail in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Judge (in-charge) KM Imrul Kayes of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing Rubel's bail petition. He was released from Dhaka Jail on Sunday afternoon and is likely to join the Bangladesh team's World Cup training session on Monday.
In the petition, Rubel sought bail as he is part of Bangladesh's World Cup team that will fly to Brisbane on January 24 to prepare for the World Cup. He has been given bail until the police submits the chargesheet to the court.
Earlier on January 8, Rubel was sent to jail by Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Muhammad Anwar Sadat who passed the order after Rubel surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail.
Rubel had, on December 15, been granted four weeks of anticipatory bail in the case. This came two days after the complainant, an actress, had filed the case against Rubel with Mirpur police station on charges of making false promises of marriage.

July 2013...Sadly over the past couple of years, since my last review, Bolton town centre has become a desert of pawn shops, charity shops and pound shops and as the retail life of the town centre has declined the population have voted with their feet. and gone elsewhere. Consequently even the multiples are closing their shops and leaving and even on popular shopping days the Market place shopping centre is very quiet.
In addition to this the town centre, particularly Newport street, is now filled with groups of people, standing about and shouting at each other during the day, and lots of people I have spoken to find this intimidating and unpleasant.

THE stinking pools of vomit and urine on the floor of the Bellgrove Hotel’s windowless TV room didn’t seem to bother anyone.
Two men were slumped unconscious in their seats – one with a beer can in his hand, the other had clearly wet himself after finishing the two-litre bottle of cider lying empty by his side.
The other occupants drank steadily and rolled cannabis joints while watching a soft porn film through half-closed eyes.
Everyone in the litter-strewn room spoke with the slur of hardened drug addicts and alcoholics and a member of staff who came and went seemed used to the depressing scene.
A young guy looked up from his booze and roared: “You’re going to fucking die here,” at his housemates, before muttering to himself: “I’m going to fucking die here.”

When a South Korean woman invested in a robot vacuum cleaner, the idea was to leave her trustworthy gadget to do its work while she took a break from household chores.
Instead, the 52-year-old resident of Changwon city ended up being the victim of what many believe is a peek into a dystopian future in which supposedly benign robots turn against their human masters.
The woman, whose name is being withheld, was taking a nap on the floor at home when the vacuum cleaner locked on to her hair and sucked it up, apparently mistaking it for dust.
The agony of having her hair entangled in the bowels of the contraption roused the woman from her slumber.

A few months before the 2003 invasion and occupation, an Iraqi civil servant secretly interviewed in Baghdad made a gloomy forecast. “The exiled Iraqis are the exact replica of those who currently govern us … with the sole difference that the latter are already satiated since they have been robbing us for the past thirty years,” he said. “Those who accompany the US troops will be ravenous.”

The overweight draftees manning checkpoints do not look as if they want to fight anybody. Rather than taking over rebel-held areas, the government simply bombards them so that the civilian population is forced to flee and those who remain are either families of fighters or those too poor to find anywhere else to live. Electricity and water is then cut off and a siege is mounted.

The opposition in Libya and Syria believed that the regimes of Gaddafi and Assad were so demonstrably bad that it was counterrevolutionary to question whether what came after them would be better. Foreign reporters have by and large shared these opinions. I recall mentioning some of the failings of the Libyan militiamen to a Western journalist: “Just remember who the good guys are,” she replied reprovingly.
Protesters in Benghazi would hold up placards written in perfect English, which they often could not read themselves, for the benefit of television viewers. At Ajdabiya, two hours’ drive along the main coast road south of Benghazi, foreign journalists often outnumbered opposition fighters, and cameramen had to maneuver their correspondents so the predominance of the press wasn’t evident to their audience.

A Libyan psychologist claimed to have distributed seventy thousand questionnaires in rebel-controlled areas, out of which sixty thousand were returned. Some 259 women volunteered that they had been raped; the psychologist said she had interviewed 140 of them. That such precise statistics could have been collected in the anarchy of eastern Libya was implausible, but her story was uncritically repeated, doing much to turn Gaddafi into a pariah. Largely ignored were reports a few weeks later from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and a UN commission saying that there was no evidence for the story, which appears to have been nothing more than a highly successful propaganda ploy. On another occasion, the rebels showed off the bodies of eight government soldiers: they claimed the men had been executed by their own side for trying to defect to the opposition. Later, Amnesty International unearthed a video showing the eight men alive after being captured by the rebels; clearly, they had been killed soon afterwards and their deaths blamed on pro-Gaddafi forces.

Early on in the occupation of Iraq, I went to al-Dohra power station in Baghdad after one American soldier was shot dead there and another wounded. This was a minor incident in an incipient guerrilla war, but the approval of local people as they stood around the pool of dried blood on the pavement was significant. “We are very poor but we will celebrate by cooking a chicken,” one man said. “God willing, there will be more actions like this.”

A correspondent in southeast Turkey recently visited a Syrian refugee camp where he found ten-year-old children watching a YouTube clip of two men being executed with a chainsaw. The commentary claimed that the victims were Syrian Sunnis and the killers were Alawites; in fact the film was from Mexico and the murders had been carried out by a drug lord to intimidate his rivals.

There may be less state violence than before 2003, but only because the state is weaker. The Maliki government’s methods are equally brutal: Iraqi prisons are full of people who have made false confessions under torture or the threat of it. Sunni villages near Fallujah are full of families with sons on death row. An Iraqi intellectual who had planned to open a museum in Abu Ghraib prison so that Iraqis would never forget the barbarities of Saddam’s regime found that there was no space available because the cells were full of new inmates. Iraq is still an extraordinarily dangerous place. “I never imagined that ten years after the fall of Saddam you would still be able to get a man killed in Baghdad by paying $100,” an Iraqi who’d been involved in the abortive museum project told me.

Use of the word "hardcore": All garage bands, even if they are not "hardcore", seem to love to describe themselves as such.Use of nicknames: In hardcore or death metal bands, all or some of the band members may have nicknames (John "Bones" Smith, Tim "Crypsy" Carnoy, etc.), and in some cases, only the nicknames will be given ("and on bass, the Deth-Hölder").Mention of music equipment: There may be detailed mentions of music equipment models and numbers, as an attempt to suggest that they are paid endorsers, or under the mistaken belief that you are dying to figure out just how they created that screeching sound on the hidden track at the end of their unreleased CD.[1]No albums are released: The article indicates that no albums have been released, or that they are forthcoming, or that the band has released only mixtapes. No neutral point of view: The article is filled with weasel words, peacock terms, and POV praise.Mention of fake company or label: The article might maintain a mandatory use of fake recording company, production company, or record label.Trying (and failing) to dramatize and/or praise the band or its members: Many garage band pages will include a poorly formatted list of the band's members, along with a puffery-filled list of their "accomplishments". There will also be desperate attempts to puff up any dubious, non-incidental contact with celebrities, notable bands, or record industry luminaries. In an article about an actual, notable band, an encyclopedic tone will be used and it will be free of golden praise and drama.Mention of upcoming local gigs: Yeah, because, you know My-Wikipedia-Space is a free advertising service.Certain phrases:"... had a dream ...""... is an up-and-coming ...""... take ... by storm ..."

The regional Helsingborgs Dagblad (HD) newspaper reported on Friday that the man was also convicted of molesting his neighbour's then five-year-old daughter in 2004, and was also suspected of raping a young teenage girl.
The man will now be able to adopt, after a review by the municipality's social affairs committee (socialnämnd) found that his risk of relapse was considered low, with all but one of ten members of the committee voting yes to the man's application to adopt.

He eventually lost the position of principal Clinton pet in 1997 when the Clintons acquired Buddy, a Labrador Retriever.
Socks found Buddy's intrusion intolerable: according to Hillary Clinton, Socks "despised Buddy from first sight, instantly and forever." Bill Clinton said, "I did better with ... the Palestinians and the Israelis than I've done with Socks and Buddy."[5] When the Clintons left the White House in 2001 they took Buddy to their new home, but left Socks under the care of Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie. Buddy would die within a year, being hit by a car in 2002.[6]
In December 2002, Socks was part of the Little Rock Christmas parade.
In October 2004, Socks made a then-rare public appearance when Currie was guest speaker at an Officers' Spouses Club luncheon at Andrews Air Force Base. Socks accompanied her and took part in a photo op.
In June 2008, Socks was still living with Currie and her husband in Hollywood, Maryland, about 60 miles from Washington, but had a thyroid condition, hair loss, weight loss, and kidney problems.[7]
In December 2008, Socks was reported to be in failing health, apparently suffering from cancer.[8]
Socks was euthanized on February 20, 2009, in Hollywood, Maryland,[9] after suffering cancer of the jaw.[10] It was also estimated that Socks would have turned 20 in the spring of 2009, placing his birthdate in the spring of 1989 rather than 1990.[11]

But because he had already spent five months in custody, he walked free.

If you are super-rich, you probably have an ex-leader working for you, like an overpaid tennis coach. Blair, for instance, has shilled for JPMorgan Chase, Qatar and Kazakhstan’s cuddly regime. Then there’s the modern ex-leader’s staple: giving paid speeches to rich people. Blair’s Queen Anne mansion outside London differs from the “museum of corruption” recently vacated by Ukraine’s ex-president Viktor Yanukovich chiefly in degree, taste and the period when the money was made. Both men got rich through running countries. It’s just that Blair’s version was legal.
No previous European ex-leaders made this kind of dough. Just 20 years ago the British ex-prime minister Harold Wilson was showing up at the House of Lords stricken with Alzheimer’s, led by his nurse, because he needed the daily attendance fee.

I am a believer in inherited wealth. This is not, sadly, because I have any strong personal interest here: the total amount I have received from legacies in nearly 60 years on the planet is £1,000 and a grandfather clock. It is just that I think society as a whole is stronger if some people are exempted – through no merit of their own – from the endless struggle to survive. They are well placed to help others, take long views, cultivate beauty and knowledge, and make life a bit more relaxed.

Makes me recall one of my most humiliating moment. Was in New York at some posh Hamptons do and saw this really nice dog. Said to the owner (at the packed dinner table mind) - "what kind of dog is that?". Response - "that's a pedigree coon hound".....pause.....and then I asked it "would that be from slavery times, were they used to hunt slaves?"...........cue total silence followed by "err, no - they are used to hunt raccoons". Talk about shitting the bed - let's just say I wasn't invited back....

Foreigners are useful “cannon fodder” for Isis, said an Israeli intelligence official, and did not play a role in the organisation’s hierarchy.
“They are completely useless as fighters,” said Peter Neumann, director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation at King’s College in London. “In a context like Isis in Syria you have all these battle-hardy Chechens and then you have some fat guy from Luton turning up.”

I dislike Rio Ferdinand, because he is endlessly arrogant, constantly making bullish bullshit statements and utterly repulsive - one of the ugliest people ever seen on a football pitch (but sure, feel free to post pictures of others who beat him in this regard), though like most ugly famous people he has probably had a string of attractive sexual partners ... a thought that makes me dislike him more and more. I greatly dislike the way he vocally and indignantly takes offence at fans despite being paid roughly 100 times what they are paid. I hate almost everything about him, really.
I thought this thread would be inspired by his comments today on so-called WAGS. I was going to say that though these comments were reported in a way that made them sound misogynistic and pathetic, the actual comments were quite reasonable and sensible.

Ozersky was found and pronounced dead in his Conrad Chicago hotel room on May 4, 2015, while in the city for the James Beard Foundation Awards.[19][20][21] Officials said the cause of death was awaiting further tests.[19]
Ozersky was the founder of Meatopia, a large meat-centric outdoor culinary event, which has been held in New York City for the past nine years. In 2013 Meatopia events were held in London, England and San Antonio, Texas, with more cities planned for 2014. Meatopia did not hold an event in 2013 in New York City. Each year has had a different theme such as "Slaughter of the Innocent" (baby animals), "Lamb Bam Thank You M'aam" (whole lambs), and, most recently (NYC 2012), "City Meat," in which the festival was divided up into multiple "neighborhoods" such as Offalwood, Carcass Hill, and Beaktown. Meatopia has been called "a glorious city of meat" by The Huffington Post[22] and "a bacchanal of pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, turkey and quail" by The New York Times.[23]

The hashtag #paracetamolchallenge has since been hijacked by others urging young people not to take part in the fad. Some have shared personal experiences. One user wrote: “My sister died from taking too much paracetamol – kids don’t do it.”
Another said: “I have liver damage at 18 years old from paracetamol overdoses, the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. DO NOT DO IT.”
A third wrote: “As a nurse who’s seen the devastation caused by suicide & paracetamol poisoning people need to reject #paracetamolchallege.”
On Tuesday the mother of a girl who died in 2011 after overdosing on paracetamol spoke of her devastation in an attempt to prevent other young people from making the same mistake.

NDTV rated the film 2 out of 5 stars and called the film boring enough to make almost everyone sleep. Rediff rated the film 0.5 out of 5 stars and called the film "A Slow Torture". Firstpost left the film with no rating also referring to the film as "a slog to sit through with too many unnecessary songs and diversions and not enough meat to either thrill or entertain." Indian Express movie critic gave only .5 stars and questioned "What is Ranbir Kapoor doing in a movie like this?" Rajeev Masand on ibnlive gave only one star calling it "The film limps lethargically and collapse in a predictable twist ending"

The potential for shock collars to have a negative impact on behaviour has been recognised by the UK courts. In 2001 Ostarra Langridge was prosecuted after one of her dogs attacked and killed a shitzu whilst on a walk. A control order, rather than a destruction order, was imposed as the magistrates accepted the defense that Ms. Langridge's dog's aggressive behaviour was attributable to the effects of the shock collar. "Ms. Langridge sought the help of a behaviourist when her dogs started to run away from her on their walks along the beach. The dogs were given shock collars, which Miss Langridge was told to keep on for three months and activate whenever they misbehaved. But the first time the dogs got a shock was by mistake, after a small dog they were walking past made Miss Langridge jump. From then on her pets associated the shocks with small dogs and became afraid of them. When Miss Langridge described the day in July when her dogs turned on a shihtzu she had tears in her eyes.". She stated ""They connected the pain of the electric shock with little dogs because of the first time I used the collar. The day that machine came in this house I regret." [28]

‘Accrington Stanley’ milk advert actor jailed for Liverpool murder https://t.co/IhRZsmhBnC— Guardian news (@guardiannews) February 22, 2023

In the milk advert, Spaine’s character, whose face is never in shot, asks another boy: “Have you got any lemonade?” The other boy, played by Carl Rice, replies: “If you want.”As Rice pours himself a glass of milk, Spaine reacts by saying: “Milk? Eurgh.”Rice tells him: “It’s what [the former Liverpool forward] Ian Rush drinks. He said if I don’t drink lots of milk, when I grow up I’m only going to be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley.”Spaine then delivers the familiar line “Accrington Stanley, who are they?” and Rice responds with “exactly”.

Lamarr sounds like he's trying to do the Michael Buerk thing where you convey poignancy by making your voice go up at the end of the sentence, but can't quite pull it off
