All The Girls I Like Are Lesbians!
I need to know about american politics
How is the rebel flag not a racist symbol?

ip check plz.

John Justen, Thursday, 6 September 2007 06:45 (eighteen years ago)

OK, now that I've read through the rebel flag thread, I'm sitting at about a 95% NS vote.

John Justen, Thursday, 6 September 2007 06:50 (eighteen years ago)

Ok, after a little bit of internet searching, he may not be Nude Spock (although the similarities are uncanny at times). This does not change the fact that he seems to be an idiot.

John Justen, Thursday, 6 September 2007 06:59 (eighteen years ago)

"All The Girls I Like Are Lesbians!" is a parody thread (in case you didn't notice)

Heave Ho, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah come on that thread is way more stupid than the other two

Noodle Vague, Thursday, 6 September 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I didn't actually mean to bother with that one, but in the flurry of copypasting it made it into the list.

ps google luriqua and you'll know the two are related.

humansuit, Friday, 7 September 2007 08:23 (eighteen years ago)

He's been registered for four months and there are no IP matches. I wouldn't put it past Nude Spock to be stockpiling usernames way in advance for when he gets banned, but I don't think it's him in this case.

I'd go with the "just a guy who doesn't know shit" theory for now, but I'm keeping an eye on him.

sanskrit, Friday, 7 September 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

I see, it's ok if someone acts just like Nude Spock; they actually have to be proven by science (i.e. self-admission) to be NS before they get banned.

gabbneb, Friday, 7 September 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

Surely there's no chance NS uses multiple aliases/sockpuppets in continually coming back here and trying to gain acceptance under 'normal' poster identies while pushing anti-social-ness to the edge and only going full-on NS when he gets backed into a corner and attacked (sometimes giving his sockpuppets prophylactic protection by using them to attack the revealed NS handle).

gabbneb, Friday, 7 September 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

I presume yr kidding, as that's pretty much exactly what he has done multiple times.

Maybe NS has a bunch of registered aliases awaiting the next time he feels like treating us to his wit & wisdom, maybe not, who knows? And, who cares, I mean we can't do anything about it if he has except play whack-a-mole when he does go on one of his lame rampages.

This current guy just seems like, as mentioned upthread, someone who doesn't know shit, but thinks he knows it all, maybe.

Pashmina, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)

Drunk Jerks. Is there anything appealing about them?

This was in ILM. It oughta be in ILE. Well, I could tell you where it really oughta be, but I don't say those words on Sunday.

W4LTER, Monday, 10 September 2007 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

is there a reason why King Boy hasn't been banned yet? Jewish Nazis - What's All This About?

Do people figure he's just an adolescent? Or has he actually contributed a single worthwhile post anywhere on ILx?

gabbneb, Monday, 10 September 2007 23:53 (eighteen years ago)

King Boy hasn't been banned yet because the ILX admins don't ban people just because you don't like them, which you should have noticed by now.

This guy is still a flaky socket at best, though.

so anyway, moved to a flat in camden a couple of weeks ago, thought it would be better for my music career to be part of the "scene". my friend tarquin needed a new bassist for his band "the costellos" so, here i am. my dad sorted my out my the place, a rehearsal room, bought me some furniture and musical equipment: a fender jazz bass and a marshall amp, not to mention a strat so i can work on my songwriting.

problem is: dad's only hooking me up with £600 a week, after rent bills, etc.. not really enough to live the rock and roll lifestyle, keep up with the latest fashions and keep a girlfriend in tow, it's really unfair.

so could anyone sort us out with some gigs? you get well paid for them, right?

our drummer went to boarding school with a couple of guys from the horrors, so they might be able to help out, but the music biz is a tough game and any help at all would be appreciated.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

Calum's been my suspicion for a while. Unfortunately Max R appears to have come back in under a new IP which is shared by a Scottish ILXer who is, I think, unlikely to want to take one for the team here.

Pashmina or someone would be able to ban him without taking out everyone on that IP.

I seriously doubt it's Calum. I email w/Calum a bit from time to time, and I really don't think he's got enough hours in his day to keep up something like this.

If anyone can point to specific examples of "the kind of shit we've banhammered people for in the past" (racism, spamming, consistent trolling/hateful shitheaddery) I'll drop the lock on the guy, but all I see is some kid who's a bit of a prat, and that doesn't make it, really, does it.

The guy is definitely trolling, he's doing the "hey I know what will push ILX's buttons" routine a la Nude Spock rather than going for outright abuse or racism. There was that "hey let's all vote BNP for a laugh" comment which he passed off as satire as well.

Matt DC, Monday, 22 October 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

its sort of cute how he keeps trying to get everyones attention and everyone except for pipecock is ignoring him.

Not sure about that. The Favorite Sexual Terms thread he started has drawn attention.

W4LTER, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

pipecock should be fucking banned. dude is a straight-up troll.

bo jackson overdrive seems like an over anxious dude to me, not a harmless one (c.f. the shower thread he started).

cat stevens, while a hilarious username, also looks to be a troll in the max r mold.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 03:16 (eighteen years ago)

BJO's reviving some stuff, but doing so with offensive single-word messages, e.g., "gay," which is how he revived the "101 reasons" thread.

bo jackson overdrive seems like an over anxious dude to me, not a harmless one (c.f. the shower thread he started).

Rt. Some of the things he's posted fall between WTF and over-the-line. Consider some (admittedly not all) of his threads, and his contribution to the "Radiohead -- In Rainbows" thread: "The thing I love about this board and its Radiohead worship is that if Thom Yorke has diarrhea, it's on Ilxor before the toilet flushes."

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 03:30 (eighteen years ago)

Jordan OTM. Did you catch his "Problem Solving Question" thread:

It's 1988 and Steve Winwood's tour bus is caught in traffic, in the United States. His bus driver is driving faster than normal to compensate but doesn't have a Class B driver's license, or part of his right hand.

The bus hits a slick spot and the driver loses control, and flips the vehicle, and the bus catches on fire. Steve manages to escape and save his bandmates and much of the equipment, but the bus driver is engulfed in flames. As Steve is sobbing due to the tragedy, he hears the godawful Terry Jacks song "Seasons in the Sun".

Knowing that if he recites the lyrics to Higher Love three times while that song plays, a time portal will open up, Steve is faced with a quandary. If he recites the lyrics to Higher Love and goes back in time, the song will cease to exist and he will be forced to relive his career without this hit being on the airwaves or performed. Performing it live will result in instant death.

The question is...does Steve go back in time to save the bus driver and ensure he gets his Class B license, or does he leave him there so he can keep playing Higher Love?

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 03:37 (eighteen years ago)

Not sure what you are having a hard time understanding--I'm talking about a completely isolated incident from today which has nothing to do with yesterday. You might want to take your own advice.

W4LTER, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:16 (eighteen years ago)

BJO, i HIGHLY recommend that you take a step back, spend a week or two just lurking without contributing, and then start adding to threads--NOT STARTING THEM--using a NEW NAME. dont be insulting, dont act like you know more than everyone on the bored. no one will be all the wiser, and everyone will be welcoming.

things that ILX hates:
- new posters who havent spent a while learning what ILX is like
- new posters who want to have discussions that have been had on the board several times before
- new posters who start 6 threads in ten minutes
- new posters who can't use the search engine

max, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

and it was kind of hilarious
xp

W4LTER, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)

max,

I understand all of that, as I just said twice in the posts above.

However, after taking the advice last night, I got banned in another forum for responding to one solitary thread on another board that I WASN'T banned on, with an on-topic post. So...if I follow the rules and show some level of restraint and still get banned, what else am I to do? I was only interested in finding out how long my ban on ILM and ILE was good for today, and am not protesting or questioning that at all.

I'm not technically a 'new' poster either, I was here once before in 2004 (no I was not Bo Jeeves Jackson).

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:21 (eighteen years ago)

ya thats why i said change your name, ILX is not known for being forgiving.

max, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:24 (eighteen years ago)

Well, to be honest, if that's the way it is, I think maybe this isn't the place for me, which is probably better for all of us. It's pretty counterproductive to tell someone "hey, knock it off", then they knock it off, and then you still ban them.

I'm kicking a dead horse though. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my birthday now. Evening!

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Thursday, 15 November 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i can't think of a worse way to spend your birthday then defending your honor on the internet after being banned from I Love Comics.

Dick Tanner certainly looks Spocklike - let me know if he puts it beyond any reasonable doubt.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

i was going to ask if someone would explain this to me, but i searched around on my own and i think i get the general idea. part of me wants to say "hay guys relax i'm no terrorist" but the rest thinks that maybe i misjudged the tone here. its probably way more complicated and issue-laden than i assumed. i'm not saying it's not my fault for not looking deeper into which posters say what and why, but it's confusing and maybe the place should have more strict entrance requirements, or be invite-only? i'm probably overreacting a bit, but it seems like if a guy can just drop in for some jokes (maybe silly and tasteless, but not mean-spirited and no more silly or tasteless than seems to be common here) and then find he's being watched as a potential enemy, that maybe the "trolls" are doing / have done more damage than maybe they should be / have / whatever

okay, i'm reading my response, so i guess i did already, and i have little at stake except that i figured this place to be funny/cool/whatever, so here goes

MattDC, i jumped in and registered the name only as a sub-Airplane joke because someone (chaki) said those words together on a thread and i thought it was funny for a couple of minutes. not even as long as it took to register it, to be honest, and i wished i could change it since, but there you go, at least i don't have a band.

as for finding this thread, i've been checking through the boards quite a lot lately and this was like in the top two or three here, so it was really easy. there really is nothing that strange about it and no ulterior motive on my part except curiosity (a little prurient, i admit, "whoa, somebody posted tubgirl? / hey it's the backroom'", etc). i've skimmed the bigger boards on and off for maybe a year, but i don't know anyone here personally (online or off), i have zero history/issues with anybody that posts here (that i know of), and am not a malicious person.

okay, maybe i shouldn't keep posting on this thread, i get a bad feeling about it.

Dick Tanner, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

no wait, you guys are right. people will forget all about ipods and the idea of them being able to play better quality files in the future. people will stick with CDs. they will have huge collections of them just like people have of vinyl now. vinyl will die. along with you guys, thankfully.
