HI DERE, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)

GOT MY GMAIL ACCOUNT BACK.

It seems one ebay seller got fucked over by this fucking guy.

W4LTER, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:30 (seventeen years ago)

lxy: I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ASK THAT!
actually it is super boring, but i'm super excited. i'm doing a class at uni on book-making history and learning how to letterpress print. our practical printing project is this:
choose from one of the standard postcard sizes; design a p/c for a real or invented client and audience - using paper of your choosing, one ink (black only) and no more than 15 words and no images; must include budget for projection of a 100-edition, explanation of concept, diary of development etc etc...

so my idea was to use the guerilla poetics project as our client, with the notion that our PCs would be a kind of promotion of an antipodean branch of the GPP, trying to expose undiscovered NZ poets. so the PCs would be placed in suitable books in both the uni library and bookstore (the same way GPP operates).

i will post pics when we have the final product printed on monday, but the text is:
although 'caution' is not a dog,
we implore you to exercise it.

[poet's name - friend of girl in my group who is weirdo]

www.guerillapoetics.org

we're using super nice paper, with a special overlay that will be held in place with a kind of rivet. and the idea was all mine! and i also made everyone agree to use garamond (we could only work from a list of about 10 fonts), because i love it so much and it's also the typeface in the GPP reader....

OMG i'm so sorry this is pretty boring :/

and way long

Rubyredd, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

(xpost to Dan) hmmmm, I don't know what that even is, but obviously you like it.

I don't suppose your parents have always wanted you to have a sister, Dan. They could adopt me! Cuz my birthday is next month, and really, right now I'd be happy if I just had a decent pencil sharpener.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

Rubyredd, I will look forward to seeing your pictures of your project!

Well, even if we can't see you, we should be able to hear you clearly. ;)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 January 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

17. just got an email from one of the dudes who runs the GPP, and he is interested in ACTUALLY PAYING ME TO PRINT THE POSTCARDS FOR REALZ

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 January 2008 01:21 (seventeen years ago)

AWESOME!

Sara R-C, Friday, 18 January 2008 01:25 (seventeen years ago)

yeah he was really impressed with my idea, and wants to do it here in NZ. don't know if i'll have the time or opportunity to actually do it, but still... and it's good to be making some connections for when i actually go out and try to apprentice myself to some poor old printer.

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 January 2008 01:44 (seventeen years ago)

Sounds cool... I hope you get to actually do it!

Sara R-C, Friday, 18 January 2008 02:28 (seventeen years ago)

ruby, thanks! it's NOT boring, it's totally cool! i am intrigued, and i hope the guy will pay you lots to make them for real.

(and secretly, selfishly i wish i could get one in the mail.)

lxy, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:56 (seventeen years ago)

lxy if you webmail me your address i will send you one; we're supposed to only print off 10 but i'm gonna do a few extras. i definitely won't get paid lots to do the job for the GPP - they're a non-profit organisation so i'd only charge for materials and studio rental, but it would be an excellent thing for my cv, and i really love what they're doing.

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 January 2008 09:52 (seventeen years ago)

RR, i will! thanks thanks!!!

21. CLOVERFIELD YAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 04:27 (seventeen years ago)

Is that your way of saying "two thumbs up?"

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 05:39 (seventeen years ago)

I watched the previews and I was all, hmmmm, looks fun... but how likely is it that I'm going to end up cowering behind some random stranger because I had to go alone because finding a babysitter is so hard? (How scary is it, guys?)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 05:40 (seventeen years ago)

not actually all that scary, more thriller/action. but not in a standard way. maybe?

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:19 (seventeen years ago)

It should probably be noted that I watch a lot of the Asia Extreme/Horror stuff though, so I might have sort of a high tolerance. Still, I don't think it's really horror per se.

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:21 (seventeen years ago)

Obviously we need to create a standardized scale.

Also, it looks like it has the potential to create motion sickness in the viewer. (I never get motion sick, so this is hardly problematic for me, but A. seems concerned that I'm going to yak on some stranger, and Northfield IS a small town.)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:24 (seventeen years ago)

DONT SIT TOO CLOSE.

I think that the motion sickness thing is mostly an excuse to bitch about the movie when you don't have anything interesting to say.

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:25 (seventeen years ago)

Kind of like how "terrible dialog" translates to "I didn't get it why they talk so fast" and "unrealistic" means "i dont like to make the imaginarium wackitude part of my brane work are you sure 'you've got mail' isn't on a different channel" 90% of the time.

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:28 (seventeen years ago)

Well, since the odds are that if I went to see it, it would likely be at Southgate Cinema - which is unchanged (except they don't rent movies anymore), even if I sat in the front row it would not be a problem.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:29 (seventeen years ago)

BECAUSE DRIVING TO HASTINGS OR LAKEVILLE JUST SEEMS SO DIFFICULT

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:30 (seventeen years ago)

uuuuuug "You've Got Mail." But I think it was "Sleepless in Seattle" that traumatized me more. Mostly because A. wanted to watch it and my recently widowed uncle was sitting right there... awkward.

Also, I don't like cute and Meg Ryan is cute.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:31 (seventeen years ago)

and the way "well i saw that coming" translates to "oh shit i better say something or people are going to figure out that i'm dumb".

OK, I'm done. xposts I saw Super Mario Brothers at that Southgate theater.

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:31 (seventeen years ago)

wow was i drunk

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:32 (seventeen years ago)

also, still terrible despite alcohols best efforts

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:32 (seventeen years ago)

I think I feel the same way about most people talking about film as Tombot feels about most people.

John Justen, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:33 (seventeen years ago)

I have seen many movies at Southgate, none of them while drunk. I wish I had been for Bram Stoker's Dracula, but it's too late for regrets now.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:33 (seventeen years ago)

...There was a Super Mario Brothers MOVIE?!

I have been living under a rock for a very long time, haven't I.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:34 (seventeen years ago)

when it comes to Super Mario Brothers, stay under the rock.

Rubyredd, Monday, 21 January 2008 03:56 (seventeen years ago)

still needs to be trimmed down and the rice paper overlay riveted on.

Rubyredd, Monday, 21 January 2008 04:02 (seventeen years ago)

Will the color be changed significantly by the rice paper overlay - or just subtly?

Sara R-C, Monday, 21 January 2008 04:55 (seventeen years ago)

the overlay will only be riveted at one point. you'll be able to clearly see the text through it, but it will fold back. it's basically a design feature to give the card longevity: placing it in books means that we're not concentrating on the design being 'eye-catching' because there's no competition for that; but we need it to be something that the reader wants to keep, so the overlay takes it out of the realm of junk mail and makes it a little more collectible.

Rubyredd, Monday, 21 January 2008 05:00 (seventeen years ago)

Oh!

I would probably keep it either way, but I am a notorious "keeper" of... uh... everything.

xpost Believe me, it's usually much bigger mistakes. I hate being the person to call my father up and say, "uh... L---- added when she should have subtracted, so one of your stores has a surprise $3,000 deficit" or whatever.

I don't know what happened this year; she finally realized that she should double check her math? It's a mystery.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:43 (seventeen years ago)

JESUS that sounds utterly amazing! a house like that in wellington would probably be around the 750k mark. backyard?

W4LTER, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

I think our house was... 213K or 219K; we moved in 2003. Love the location and the space. Wish we had a mud room (not such a problem if you have no kids, though). Wish we had a bigger kitchen and more cabinet space in kitchen.

WISH WE HAD A CHINA CABINET (I have two sets of china, for god's sake!)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

Okay, I'm really, really jealous (except for the moving part, which I loathe).

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

ok i will fix positive manifestations on you getting it. sometimes i wonder if i will ever own my own house. i am sick of paying other people's mortgages.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:49 (seventeen years ago)

Re: kitchens - I was just talking to a friend about our kitchens, and we wish we had kitchens with more than one way in and out of them. We both have breakfast bars that divide the kitchen from a broader living area. Personally I feel kinda trapped in there if others are in the room and I have to walk past them to get through. But it is a small kitchen.

That's just a random detail that I know I will change when we move from here (and please god build a house ourselves).

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

having looked at a bunch of houses now i have realized that people sort of forgot how to build things well between 1940 and 1975

John Justen, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha yeah

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

Wait, 2300 square feet for 239??????????

ARGH

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

I mean, CONGRATS

(fucking Boston real estate)

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

Our house was 213K and I think it is 2400 square feet. (Northfield!)

To be fair, though, the laundry room is huge, unfinished, and kinda creepy (that is where the centipedes show up when it's warmer... soooo many legs).

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 04:16 (seventeen years ago)

Considering the recent weather, I'm not sure that the higher prices of Boston wouldn't be better. But I'll probably get over that.

In June.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 04:17 (seventeen years ago)

i need to know what dan thinks of the PS3 (i got an xbox360 instead and im kind of regretting it) and also brand of 40" TV

sunny successor, Thursday, 31 January 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

JJs house sounds great

sunny successor, Thursday, 31 January 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

PS3: Apparently Rock Band is the only game out for it that I am likely to ever play, at least until Street Fighter 4 and Soul Calibur 4 come out. Fortunately, I FUCKING LOVE ROCK BAND.

TV: We got the "cheap" Sony Bravia (ie, not the $2500 one with the recessed glass backing frame) on sale from Sears.com. It should be delivered sometime next month.

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 18:29 (seventeen years ago)

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

I am totally envying the tv! Should I ask about the crying thing?!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 18:57 (seventeen years ago)

42. We finished watching all the Arrested Development episodes, which is a bit ;_; because we've seen them all, but mostly ^_^ for lolz.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 18:58 (seventeen years ago)

I think my favorite thing in all of it was the pastors wife coming on to Michael with the line, "I want to please you... secularly."

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)

Please ask about the crying thing!

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

HI DERE PLEASE TELL US ABOUT THE CRYING THING

lxy, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)

So we are in the middle of a high-stress work-all-night project with a hard stop date next week that's being coordinated between the East Coast, the West Coast and England. Every time someone makes a change on the West Coast, something someone on the East Coast has worked on breaks. This has caused a large amount of frustration for the East Coast, particularly since all of this tends to happen between 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM PDT, which is 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM EDT, yet the East Coast ppl still have to be around working to react to these changes/breakages.

Yesterday, there was a ping-pong effect going on where someone on the West Coast would break something and someone on the East Coast would revert his change, only to have the dude on the West Coast revert the reversion, etc etc etc. This was bad because the system needed to be up and running for a demo today at noon. At about the third go-round of this, someone in my office sent an email basically saying "STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD, DO NOT CHECK IN A SINGLE THING" that made the dude who kept breaking stuff cry.

lololololololololololololol

We also got yelled at today for sending mean emails to them for breaking our stuff that said, "Please stop breaking our stuff."

lololololololololololololol

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

Okay, that is kind of crazily hilarious, but at the same time wow I am not envying you right now at all!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

The best part is that the guy who caused the crying is like the most even-handed, non-mean person we work with! It's like... it's like watching L4r4 M1s3g4d3s make someone cry!

HI DERE, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)

ha ha ha, okay, that is kind of awesome

Sara R-C, Thursday, 31 January 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

(for non-HSTNGS ppl, imagine if a less-meek-but-as-polite Radar from MASH made someone cry)

"Taking a close look around us, there is some sort of a harmony. It is the harmony of overwhelming and collective murder, and we in comparison to the articulate vileness and baseness and obscenity of all this jungle...we only sound and look like badly pronounced and half finished sentences out of a stupid suburban novel, a cheap novel. And, we have to become humble in front of this overwhelming misery, and this overwhelming fornication, overwhelming growth, and overwhelming lack of order. Even the stars appear in the sky look like a mess. There is no harmony in the universe. We have to get acquainted to this idea that there is no real harmony as we have conceived it. But when I say this I say this all full of admiration for the jungle. It is not that I hate it. I love it. I love it very much. But, I love it against my better judgment."

Remind us how you met...?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 23:35 (seventeen years ago)

I've known him about 5 years - hate to admit it but we did meet online at first. He was dating one of my best mates and they both lived in perth. We've always been supportive buds to each other over the years, moaning about our love lives, telling each other everything, swappingmix cds, etc, and I always quietly had a massive crush on him but either or both of us always seemed to be taken.

Then last may he came to visit (2nd time I met him in person) and we were both single, and we hit it off in a big way. Still put that aside (long story, but I was going through some major emotional baggage at that point), but he'd decided to move to Melb so as a close friend I said "hey be my flatmate, that'd be fun!"

IN the ensuing 3 months, we realised we'd fallen in love with each other so now we're living together as a couple instead of as flatmates and it has been fscking brilliant, I'm stupidly happy :)

Trayce, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

El Tomboto, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

Hey Tom if worst comes to worst can you help me get a DC job?

HI DERE, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:59 (seventeen years ago)

Tom, you should just go look once. If you hate it, you don't have to go again, but you never know - you could find someplace awesome!

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:59 (seventeen years ago)

Dan wants to flee to DC...?

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:00 (seventeen years ago)

DC's changed a lot since the summer I spent there but I still have superfond memories of it, plus my brother lives there and it has the National Opera for Joei.

HI DERE, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)

I have nothing against DC; I just didn't know you were thinking of leaving Boston!

My only memories of DC are the trip I took to the pro-choice march in 1992. So I saw, like, a zillion people in the streets and walked past some landmarks. I would like to go again someday and, you know, go inside some buildings or something.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:12 (seventeen years ago)

Hahaha I've been thinking of leaving Boston since 1997!

HI DERE, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:13 (seventeen years ago)

Dan I can probably help you get a job but keep in mind almost all my contacts down here work in and around SCIFs

El Tomboto, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

MPLS/STPL has all the things that you listed there except for your brother and the National Opera for Joei and probably superfond memories of it. on the bright side, we've barely changed at all!

John Justen, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

so keep handy that file of every place you've lived and every overseas vacation for the past 10 years plus the names and contact info of three people who can verify all your jobs and mailing addresses for that same period. also I hope you hate windows

El Tomboto, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:15 (seventeen years ago)

The beginnings of my software career was a LISP/UNIX job with a TS clearance. I'm totally cool with all of that.

HI DERE, Friday, 8 February 2008 22:19 (seventeen years ago)

Hmmm, I've been wanting to visit Boston since 1989! THE IRONY

(not really)

And yeah - MPLS/STPL CHEAP HOUSES and also, um... well, lots of entertainment laughing at your friends.

Wow. And he's 40!

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)

And he can KICK! And STREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETCH! And KICK!

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:34 (seventeen years ago)

Okay, now I'm thinking of a mashup of your brother and Molly Shannon. DISTURBING

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah well my sister is cooler than any of your siblings SO THERE.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know, I think Dan's brother might be competitive here.

My siblings probably not so much... ;_;

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:43 (seventeen years ago)

Has your sister been on HBO, Ned? MY BROTHER HAS.

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

LATE NIGHT HBO = how Dan's brother paid for law school?

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

(omg CATHOLIC GUILT - I don't even KNOW Dan's brother!!! It is so wrong to pick on him.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:46 (seventeen years ago)

Has your sister been on HBO, Ned? MY BROTHER HAS.

I see you your lame HBO and play the ultimate trump card. Now STFU.

WHERE'S YOUR NETFLIX LINK???????

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)

Fame and appreciation from peers, WHATEVER. *handwaves*

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:52 (seventeen years ago)

Nice try, but even though your hands are in the air, you are waving them as if you do care; in fact, you care a lot.

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

Lips move
Can't hear what saying
Comfy numb

Since some scoff at my sister's greatness, though, a more recent example -- so when we were in Hawaii and hung around with gr8080, he took us to a Quentin Tarantino-themed birthday party that a friend was having. Now, many people there were reasonably cool (it's Hawaii, therefore plenty of Crazy 88s in attendance, etc.). My sister, informed of the party a couple of hours before attending, said, "To heck with trying to imitate a character, I'm coming as a line of dialogue." And she did:

Back of shirt: "How many dicks is that?"

Best costume of the evening.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

(Oh, and the tattoo on her wrist there is of a needle and thread stitched around her wrist because she is a sewing and knitting fiend, and this picture of her sitting out in the Zeitgeist beer garden in SF is essentially her idea of paradise, the one absence being her boyfriend, who was at work at the time:

SO ANYWAY.)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)

guys, my brother wanted me to tell you that youre all wrong. he has the coolest sibling ever.

sunny successor, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:15 (seventeen years ago)

also, ned sister is cute on that submarine video.

sunny successor, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:15 (seventeen years ago)

also, i dont think thats a nosegrind but i could be RONG

sunny successor, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

I'm feeling very outclassed in terms of siblings here.

;_;

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:30 (seventeen years ago)

It's a bad angle so it looks like the back axle is on the lip of the pool. Or maybe the back axle is on the lip of the pool; I picked that picture because it was a grind on a pool, much like what my 40-yr-old brother has been doing recently.

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:32 (seventeen years ago)

dans brother is SO FUCKING AWESOME

John Justen, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:36 (seventeen years ago)

1n fact:

81. DANS AWESOME BROTHER IS AWESOME

John Justen, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

At least I know my siblings are cooler than JOHN'S siblings.

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

Only by dint of existing, but still. I must take my comfort where I can find it.

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

now its settled, because it has been numbered on the ^_^ thread.

xpost: i wouldn't know, i have not actually met them. (i has mystery half brother and half sis from previous parental marriage, which many of you that know me may never have been aware of)

John Justen, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)

WHOA that is the craziest thing I've ever heard about you, John.

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

Well, not really, but I was kind of taken by surprise by that and apparently if I'm surprised I will make an inaccurate statement.

(The whole scurvy thing probably still wins for craziest thing)

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:42 (seventeen years ago)

82. NONE OF US HAVE HAD SCURVY (except one)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2008 21:49 (seventeen years ago)

I knew about the half-sister! Maybe at one point I knew about the half-brother...?

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

82. I just found out that my brother's wife is in "Step It Up 2". (also a candidate for "ROLLING o_O THREAD")

HI DERE, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:15 (seventeen years ago)

who had scurvy?

dan's bro may win the best sibling ever sweepstake, but how bout WORST sibling ever? my big bro could totally win this: he's the biggest asshole in the world, and basically i haven't spoken to him in about 5 years. and as for half siblings: my younger bro and sis, as well as the elder, are all halfies because my mum somehow managed to have 4 kids to three different guys O_o

Rubyredd, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

WOW DAN THAT IS CRAZY

xpost Dan is in charge of helping John create the official ITR John Justen Trivia Challenge.

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

xpost I don't think it is a secret that John managed to get scurvy his first year in college.

lol, last night we were talking about assessing for respirations and the first step is "inspect the chest for symmetry and unusual findings." I SO wanted to tell the story about John and his chest, but I thought if I said, "yeah, same guy I know who had scurvy" that people would think I was making it allll up.

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

83. the one positive thing about being stuck here for extra couple of months is that i can now be part of the international print project i was invited to be in a few weeks ago. i emailed the two main guys today with a couple of ideas i had, and they LIKED them! which made me all blushy and stuff, like an idiot, because they are super good at what they do and have been doing it a long time and i have tons of respect for them.

84. came to realisation the other day that if i had not been such a procrastinating loser and had gotten my degree in the normal amount of time, i would most definitely not be eligible for the new 12 month visa to the US (is only for full-time students and those who've graduated within the last year). so all my fucking around for all these years was for the greater good!

Rubyredd, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:28 (seventeen years ago)

YAY for both those things, Rubyredd!

Sara R-C, Friday, 22 February 2008 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

85. I have finally made it through all 12 months of the last of my dad's stores checkbooks. And I have found many errors, which I will enjoy teasing Dad about.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 23 February 2008 02:32 (seventeen years ago)

86. The best part is that the errors mean that his balance is about $3,000 MORE than he thinks it is. (He should really give me some of that money, don't you think?)

Sara R-C, Saturday, 23 February 2008 02:32 (seventeen years ago)

he should def give you some $$$

87. my sister

remy bean, Saturday, 23 February 2008 03:01 (seventeen years ago)

I wish I had more in common with my siblings. Or rather, that they had more in common with ME.

My SIL is prety great.

xpost Well, he will pay me the usual amount for doing the work at least...

90. Hangover (which is a bellringing horror) totally worth it due to seeing Gay Witch Abortion and drinking beeeeers with Fluffy Bear, Subgenius, Caledonia, gff, and non-ilx awesome dudez last night

John Justen, Saturday, 23 February 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)

Gay Witch Abortion

Bandname or actual incident?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 23 February 2008 17:00 (seventeen years ago)

best band in MN right now. although if i had to watch an actual gay witch abortion, i couldn't think of a better crowd to share it with.

John Justen, Saturday, 23 February 2008 17:02 (seventeen years ago)

I am so tempted to go see that band, just to say that I did it.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 23 February 2008 23:16 (seventeen years ago)

xpost I guess it's time to consider another trip to an actual movie theater. Although is Step it Up 2 really going to come to Northfield? Hmmmm.

John Justen, Saturday, 23 February 2008 23:30 (seventeen years ago)

Hmmmm. Maybe they will have a show during my spring break. I WILL HAVE A WHOLE WEEK OFF AND I WILL BE ABLE TO COME OUT AND PLAY. (Uh... not sure of the dates because I can't see past the massive homework thing here, but I will tell all of you someday. Hopefully.) Otherwise I'm going to have to wait until after June 15 to have any fun. ;_;

Oh, do you think FB would let me hang at his house after Sat. clinical shifts that end at 11 pm? (I'll be up at Fairview Riverside sometimes, and food-wise, it SUCKS. Otherwise really cool though.)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)

at first i read that as "I think J is at a friend's house" and I was going to congratulate you on your free-wheeling parenting style.

"Seen the kid anywhere? ah shes probably at a friends house, lets go chow down."

John Justen, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

why don't i say "chow down" more often?

John Justen, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

96. just sold a vintage fender amp (the store, not personally) for MAD MAD LOOT take that shitty economy

John Justen, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:14 (seventeen years ago)

So it looks like I might drive X-C sometime in mid-April. Should I take the extreme northern route up by the Twin Cities? I have been to 42 of 48 states, I would like to knock off a few more (ND, WI, MN)... but I don't want to be driving through treacherous icy conditions.

Worth it or not?

remy bean, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)

TOTALLY WORTH IT

John Justen, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:23 (seventeen years ago)

mid april will definitely not be treacherous here or in WI, and i really doubt ND would be trouble either

John Justen, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

If it's treacherous and icy in mid-April, I think I'm going to have to run away. MN might still be cold, but the roads should be fine. Also, sometimes MN April is like 80 degrees one day, 40 degrees the next.

AND YES YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY COME

Sara R-C, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

ND probably would be fine, but it is like, the FLATTEST state in the U.S. You can watch your dog run away for days. I'm not a fan.

Congratulations on the sale, btw, John!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 28 February 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

xpost awesome, enthusiasm is all we could ask

John Justen, Thursday, 28 February 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)

nipsy rusell = the one with habeneros Y/N

Sara R-C, Thursday, 28 February 2008 21:42 (seventeen years ago)

last weekend we didn't have the proper ingredients for a nipsy russell (still had the booze and the habenero) so we subbed all manner of strange canned "beverages" from the asian market for the grapefruit juice.

of course we had to rename it, so it was initially christened the "Kurt Russell". After drinking it, we dubbed it the "Big Trouble In Little China"

xpost Y

HI DERE, Friday, 29 February 2008 13:12 (seventeen years ago)

102. Crazy ass house woman called the realtor we had make the offer and is hyper-apologetic and somewhat humbled which means maybe perhaps new house for low dollars reallllll soon.

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 23:18 (seventeen years ago)

which would also mean that my rekkerds would be released from prison into their natural habitat which is REAL LOUD ALL OVER MY HOUSE YEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 23:19 (seventeen years ago)

john did u guys just call up a realtor and start having them show you around or how did you go about it? i realize you buying a house in minnesota and me looking at condos in the capital of the fucking nation may be slightly different in some ways but I got 0 XP in this

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 23:19 (seventeen years ago)

K4l1 was referred to the dude by her parents, and i swear to god having a "buying agent" is about the best thing ever, basically an informed realty hardman. Also, they can often force the seller to pay their commision and most of the closing costs, which makes them FREE realty hardman.

srsly, this guy has not only spotted shit like slight chimney leans, but also taught me a shit ton about all the things that can be fucked up about a house/require irritating regular and expensive attention (hi dere shake siding) that i never would have seen or known about in a million years

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 23:24 (seventeen years ago)

oh yeah, and the right dude has the temperment of a pitbull. one thing though, a bunch of these people basically walk you around and talk about how awesome what you are looking at is, because they want to score their commission as quickly as possible. You want the guy that's willing to crawl into the attic and say WTF THESE CEILING JOISTS OMG

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Awesome news John! Sounds like Seller Lady may be beginning to face reality.

Also expect me to grill you on all this next time we buy/sell a house (NOT anytime soon).
