The "L.A." thing about the album is this bizarre critical meme that has persisted forever and seems to have zero basis in reality. I don't know, Gary Wright (former Spooky Tooth and "Dreamweaver" hit guy)? Was he considered an "L.A." guy at some point? (He only cowrote and appeared on one track on this album anyway.) Andy Newmark (who plays drums on Sly and the Family Stone's Fresh album) and Willie Weeks were the rhythm section. It was recorded in England, so...

I just think it's a super strong late seventies soft rock album, I guess!

yeah, he's a britisher but has been in norcal for a long while, through the whole 90's rave scene.

i was the warm-up slot for him on saturday and his set was hella fun. lots of disco and 90's house, tons of dark, 80's john carpenter sounding stuff. dancefloor exploded for 1) "roxanne" into "chilly - for your love" and 2) some extended version of supremes "aint no mountain high enough" with this sick synth solo that went on forever.

maybe records all your selections ahead of time and save them as mp3's or wav files or whatever. then do your mix "live" in traktor.

Pedro Friedeberg. that 16 Hindu Astronauts was painted in the hotel we were staying at in Mexico City. it was huge, like 20'x30'. we ended up going to what i think was his old house in San Miguel de Allende, now turned into a museum and we met his ex wife. she was really nice and there were tons of prints on sale, but they started at like $500.
