funny, I heard Van's "Into the Mystic" at the bar tonite ....
two thots: Van rools everybody's sweet ass unequivocally; Bob was rite to worship Van and it made him millions

― cutty (mcutt), Friday, 12 May 2006 21:57 (nineteen years ago)
"Pharoah had this song called 'Pisces Moon,' which he was playing every night as a theme in New York and he asked me if I could put some lyrics to it. I came up with 'The Creator Has A Masterplan.' A classic was born...."
The yodelling trademark first materialised in the late 1960s and came as a result of somebody owing him money. "I'd been trying to reach this cat for ages with no luck. I was at home and thought 'I'm gonna make this cat pick up the phone'--mentally. I began my yoga exercises and got to the head stand. With one intake of breath, I planned to walk to the phone upside down, dial his number, and make him answer with this mental projection.
"As I crossed the threshhold of the bedroom, I transcended. I was one place and my body was another. I dropped to the floor, right on my face and my teeth went into my bottom lip. There was blood everywhere....
"So I couldn't do my own show with Pharoah. I had eight stitches in my mouth. I couldn't do anything. Pharoah came by to see me [and he said] you can't pull out."
Leon decided to play the gig, a church benefit for a group of anti-police activists in New York. "I couldn't smile. I could hardly open my mouth...but I went along anyhow. I got up on the stage and when it came time for me to scat, this sound just came out. It shocked me. I didn't know where it was coming from.
"I realised it was me and I realised that the ancestors had arrived. Pharoah, standing beside me on stage just raised his eyebrows at me. The ancestors had given me what we call throat articulation and they said to me 'You will sing like this with your mouth CLOSED.' And that was the first time it presented itself to me, in a church. My God! Thank you....It surprises me, it does everything of its own volition. I call it Soularfone. The pygmies call it Umbo Weti....This voice is not me, my voice is ancient. This person you see before you is controlled by ego but my voice is egoless."

Two and a half years ago, the Willitses produced a bat boy, their son, Jaxon. They took him right from the hospital to the cage. Jaxon fell asleep to the whir of the pitching machine and the crack of the bat.
When Jaxon was old enough to walk, he helped Reggie collect balls in the cage. And when Reggie left for road trips, Jaxon hit in the cage with his plastic bat.

my 86 honda accord died in 98. the transmission died. it woulda cost $2000 some dollars to fix and that's about all the car was worth. i sold ol' girl for 250$
― jaxon, Monday, 2 July 2007 20:35 (eighteen years ago)
recent tranny story: some friends of friends - all irish blokes that grew up in dublin - were out and they met a few hot chix. turns out the girls hands were bigger than the boys. 2 of them noticed this and said late dawg. one dude went home with the chick and their friends never told him.
same dude a few years back was in Thailand and was fucking a hooker when he realized the hole "felt wrong", but he kept fucking because "she was so hot"

my old roommate DJ'd with Garth.
― Steve Shasta, Monday, 2 July 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, he's a britisher but has been in norcal for a long while, through the whole 90's rave scene.
i was the warm-up slot for him on saturday and his set was hella fun. lots of disco and 90's house, tons of dark, 80's john carpenter sounding stuff. dancefloor exploded for 1) "roxanne" into "chilly - for your love" and 2) some extended version of supremes "aint no mountain high enough" with this sick synth solo that went on forever.
you should def. try and see him some time if he's playing near you. really great dj.

― jaxon, Monday, 2 July 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
i would assume so but i know nothing about garage band. i record my mixes from my dj mixer into audacity aka recording software for cheapos/dummies.
are you using th e"ask jaxon" thread to ask me about something i know less about than you?
― gr8080, Monday, 2 July 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)
maybe records all your selections ahead of time and save them as mp3's or wav files or whatever. then do your mix "live" in traktor.
― gr8080, Monday, 2 July 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)
i dont have much experience w/ traktor, but i assume you just want to crossfade between tracks, no beatmatching etc.

Pedro Friedeberg. that 16 Hindu Astronauts was painted in the hotel we were staying at in Mexico City. it was huge, like 20'x30'. we ended up going to what i think was his old house in San Miguel de Allende, now turned into a museum and we met his ex wife. she was really nice and there were tons of prints on sale, but they started at like $500.
