Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Friday, 11 November 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

what's that?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 11 November 2005 21:16 (twenty years ago)

I have a friend from Rome, Manfredi Romano, who played me some of their music, it's crazy, I think it overlaps personnell wise with Capricorn a bit. I don't have any though, I just heard it through him and it's cool Italo stuff.

JW (ex machina), Thursday, 20 April 2006 05:17 (nineteen years ago)

listening to the tantra album tonight, i felt like downloading a few tracks for u jon. they might be a bit gay for you, but they are epic

The Hills Of Katmandu
Wishbone

STRAIGHT FERN GULLY (jaxon), Thursday, 20 April 2006 05:48 (nineteen years ago)

and here's one that's nowhere close to italo, but i think you'd like it. super heavy, loopy, rhythmic, kraut/motorik beat, neu! cum talking heads disco. good for the coca

Hamilton Bohannon - Dance Your Ass Off

STRAIGHT FERN GULLY (jaxon), Thursday, 20 April 2006 06:20 (nineteen years ago)

tantra is godlike. also check out "a place called tarot"--there's a good idjuts remix of it too

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 20 April 2006 06:37 (nineteen years ago)

jaxon have you heard that idjuts edit of bohannon's 'the groove machine', SO rad.

lil' merzbow wow (haitch), Thursday, 20 April 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

thank you, friends!

JW (ex machina), Thursday, 20 April 2006 12:35 (nineteen years ago)

i have not heard the idjuts edit of the bohannon track.

STRAIGHT FERN GULLY (jaxon), Thursday, 20 April 2006 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 20 April 2006 16:53 (nineteen years ago)

Bangkok Impact remix of Alexander Robotnik's "Dark Side of the Spoon" is great!

Dominique (dleone), Thursday, 20 April 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

DS, I met this girl (Ivonne) last night who mentioned you being nice to her. We played her the first Hawkwind record (she liked) and we talked about how much money it costs to get "the skinny puppy sound".

Also, I might have a little party favor for you next time I see you.

JW (ex machina), Thursday, 20 April 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.viceland.com/issues/v13n2/htdocs/eastern/1.jpg

STRAIGHT FERN GULLY (jaxon), Thursday, 20 April 2006 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

I've known Ivonne since she moved here from austin, had an electroclash kind of band called Masculine Feminine, saw them play at the Ghost Exits party at the BQE lounge. I WAS THERE. I remember she had Severed Heads as a fave on friendster. Hadn't seen her for some time untill she started coming to capones on fridays.

and...fuck the bootleggers. flexx.be has a new boot with Mr. Flagio's Take a Chance, best italo-disco song ever.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 20 April 2006 18:01 (nineteen years ago)

i like the lindstrom remix of robotnick's 'dark side of the spoon' better than the bangkok impact one. but the original owns them both!!

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 20 April 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

what has flexx repressed besides come on closer and take a chance, dan?

pssst - badass revolutionary art! (plsmith), Thursday, 20 April 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

nothing I know of. I just meant they're carrying a boot of Mr. Flagio. Come On Closer was their first release and if it's out of print, I know they plan on re-pressing. I bought the official last copy of the first pressing. I had tried to order 2 copies and they only had 1 to send.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 20 April 2006 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

Ivonne!!!!!!! IS RAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ddb (ddb), Thursday, 20 April 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

I just remembered Ivonne made a MOST AMAZING SHORT movie...that took place in a GAME ROOM.

Capones, saturday night. Jeremy's bday. My first time at Capones since the final alldisco. Me, Jeremy and Scott Zacharais from Detroit. Dance music, free pizza, that classic capones smell. What more can you want. And yes, lots and lots of quality garlic soaked italian disco, beardo house, dance rock, the Doors, Captain Beefheart, etc.

g®▲Ðұ, Saturday, 17 March 2007 04:21 (eighteen years ago)

dan selzer, Saturday, 17 March 2007 06:54 (eighteen years ago)

dmr, Monday, 19 March 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

can we talk about chilly?

because "for your love" is like the greatest thing ever.

is there more than one version? where did the idjuts get the female vocal and the guitar solo for their version?

moonship journey to baja, Monday, 19 March 2007 04:50 (eighteen years ago)

Soccio is the best.

The version of For You Love on the LP is 11 minutes long and has female vocals and a guitar solo, I think.

dan selzer, Monday, 19 March 2007 06:28 (eighteen years ago)

Y S I??

moonship journey to baja, Monday, 19 March 2007 07:53 (eighteen years ago)

can not stop playing this right now.

g®▲Ðұ, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

I like the remix but prefer the original...I'm just a sucker for those lyrics.

here's the longer chilly...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/vx4ke2

dan selzer, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

thanks for the gino stuff, btw. He's one of those guys who's so good and people don't rate his career enough, like you learn about Dancer or one other track and you figure he's another disco one hit wonder, but he put out TONS of hot stuff, not to mention Witch Queen and Kebekelektrick and Sandy Steel and whatever else he may or may not have been involved with.

dan selzer, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

Face to Face is like 5 really good songs out of 6
I like that one a little better than S-Beat
the version of "Love Is" on there is a lot different from the prince language one (editions disco) ... I guess that comes from a longer 12"

dmr, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

that "remember" track is like lindstrom meets alan braxe

dmr, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 05:41 (eighteen years ago)

Remember was a big song, you can hear it in all the old WBMX mixes so it definitely struck a chord with the early house music crowd in Chicago. I'd heard it on a bunch of those mixes before I knew what it was...it was only when I heard Porkchop playing it at our party and got to ask him about it that I realized who it was.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCqalVJ8l2E

dan selzer, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 23:20 (seventeen years ago)

hey what's that one with the black and white video with the dancers and the room full of mirrors that was doing the rounds recently - ft. oldish guy 'rapping' - not 'italian disco' as such but it was italian and from 1969 or thereabouts. think it may have disappered on youtube as it's mysteriously disappeared from my favourites.

blueski, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

nope. vahid just started a thread on him yesterday.

i'm guessing the reason he posted the video upthread is because that's the girl in the video?
