Hi Remy, I'm going to be around on Friday night ... I have a show at 8 pm, and then I think we're trying to arrange to meet up afterwards...?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

wednesday night. hangout.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 12 December 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

jaymc do you think my parents would enjoy your band, or would that be too weird?

tres letraj (tehresa), Monday, 12 December 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

hi I am also around at the end of this week.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Monday, 12 December 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

theresa -- I don't think it would be too weird, actually! We're a pretty parent-friendly band... I was just going to see if you had gotten my e-mail.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

(Oh, and the other nice thing is that we're going on at 8 pm, so it can still be an early night...)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:06 (twenty years ago)

cool. i will let them know... my dad wants to go to frontera grill for dinner, so i will tell him we should make it early. note: i may be a bit tipsy when i show up because my dad has already mentioned a margarita challenge!

tres letraj (tehresa), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:10 (twenty years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

chicago pizza sux (too soupy). but gino's is the place everyone seemed to love

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 12 December 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I'd second that. I have my own favorites, but Gino's is understood to be the CLASSIC Chicago pizzeria.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

jaymc, where is the show? 8 pm is awesome because I wanna see Fushitsusha at 10.

It's at Rothko.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 12 December 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

gino's is the best, fer sure. i think i only made it to their now-not-so-new newer location by the rock n' roll mcdonalds once.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 12 December 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

wow i need to see Fushitsusha. is there a tour?

O RLY? (eman), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

i dont have any set return date but if i need to be mindful of my time so i dont piss off jon and laura!

remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 01:00 (twenty years ago)

O RLY

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

Timofeev described H@@@@@ckford as "The nicest dude ever. He has a very nonthreatening demeanor and is very honest." Timofeev also said, "His face and his eyes go along with what he's saying," and that "his humor can't be taken too seriously by people and you shouldn't take it that way."

GET EQUIPPED WITH LOLZ (ex machina), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

having fun with stockholm cindy on stage (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 10 February 2006 16:59 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
if I was to go to NYC for a long weekend, where would I stay that is good location and cheap but not festering?

As a young person, I stayed in the evil CHELSEA HOSTEL or the Banana Bungalow on Upper West Side. No more of that crap, I'm too old.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:47 (twenty years ago)

someone's couch.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:55 (twenty years ago)

but not mine, it's too small.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:55 (twenty years ago)

i am going to NYC for a year. where should i live that is good location and cheap but not festering?

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:56 (twenty years ago)

not bushwick

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:56 (twenty years ago)

crown heights or sunset park.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:56 (twenty years ago)

Crown Heights -- if you don't mind being called "Snowflake".

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:57 (twenty years ago)

Don't worry, this isn't a lead-in to stay on someone's couch-I'm not even sure anyone on this board even likes me that much!

I'm just thinking hypothetically. There are some good fares.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:58 (twenty years ago)

if i had a good couch, i would let you stay there.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:59 (twenty years ago)

you could stay with me, adam, if you come here before my lease is up.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:59 (twenty years ago)

my friend who lives in washington heights insists that i must live there. but he went to columbia, and so did everyone he knows in new york. i don't want to be in columbia-town.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 19:59 (twenty years ago)

I've never been to Brooklyn!

And I lived in NYC for a VERY short time - about three months.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:01 (twenty years ago)

washington heights isn't bad.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:01 (twenty years ago)

i keep picturing you as kyle maclachlan from when you used "Special Agent Dale Koopa" if that was the same you.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:05 (twenty years ago)

i am not quite that sharp.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:06 (twenty years ago)

what is the chelsea hostel like, Adam?

UL® (blastocyst), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:06 (twenty years ago)

BAD

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:08 (twenty years ago)

full of large Australians who wanted to beat up a teenage Chuck tatum and I for being "gay".

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:09 (twenty years ago)

adam go from the 5th-8th of april

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:09 (twenty years ago)

were you, though?

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:10 (twenty years ago)

Granted, Chuck was wearing Marilyn Monroe sunglasses and hawaiian shirts with SHORTS.

But I looked totally heterosexual.

xxp

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:10 (twenty years ago)

well who woudn't next to that

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:11 (twenty years ago)

haha

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:12 (twenty years ago)

I should find a picture of us! We were so young.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:24 (twenty years ago)

oh to be young and gay in chelsea.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:26 (twenty years ago)

No, anything but that!

This budget hotel in midtown has a decent rep:

http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7175634/

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:27 (twenty years ago)

ugh... i was a young, heterosexual female living in chelsea (going to FIT) and that was fucking dismal.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:28 (twenty years ago)

I think Chuck "scored chicks" like that, though!
I didn't do so well.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:28 (twenty years ago)

which was a bad idea.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:30 (twenty years ago)

I was 18 and I got served everywhere! I was also British.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:30 (twenty years ago)

oh, you bitch!

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:31 (twenty years ago)

I know! I really can't help it though.

I mean, that's where I'm from.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:31 (twenty years ago)

I don't know if I've mentioned that before on this board or anything.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:32 (twenty years ago)

Being british helps. I faked a passable British accent in Las Vegas once when I was 19 and got served super easy.

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:32 (twenty years ago)

haha. i looked like i was 12. i did drink at a bar called Great Lakes in brooklyn one time. with a dude i met on the internet. his friend was such a snob -- he was like "what are the last 10 records you've bought?" and i said "philophobic" instead of "philophobia" (that arab strap album) and he laughed in my face. what a loser. i remember his records were all like dinosaur jr. and bedhead.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:33 (twenty years ago)

I like that Arab Strap record.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:33 (twenty years ago)

yeah i liked them for a 6-month period and i saw them at maxwell's in hoboken. i haven't heard it for many years except once it was playing at spiderhouse in austin and i was racking my brains trying to remember the name of the band.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:34 (twenty years ago)

you've been to a lot of places.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

no, not really.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:36 (twenty years ago)

adam, come to rochester. i don't have a couch.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:42 (twenty years ago)

ummmm...

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:42 (twenty years ago)

i mean

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:43 (twenty years ago)

:-o

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:43 (twenty years ago)

some of my friends have couches

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Being british helps. I faked a passable British accent in Las Vegas once when I was 19 and got served super easy.
-- gbx (in....), March 8th, 2006 2:32 PM. (skowly) (later) (link)

This also helped us get in the Lady Sovereign after-party!!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:45 (twenty years ago)

god, I'm pleased I wasn't around to witness that

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:46 (twenty years ago)

btw, British people aren't like Americans. If they see each other outside of Britain they prefer not to acknowledge each other! So I don't see how faking an accent (no matter how expertly) would get you anywhere with Lady Sovereign's people.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:47 (twenty years ago)

For instance, there are two other English people in my office. We never speak to each other, EVER.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:48 (twenty years ago)

He didn't use it on her people. He used it on the bouncer, to convince him that we were with her people.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:49 (twenty years ago)

Also gbx is like half-Irish or something.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:49 (twenty years ago)

SO?

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:50 (twenty years ago)

hey i am 3/8 welsh, everyone.

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:50 (twenty years ago)

jaymc british people hate irish people

xp

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:50 (twenty years ago)

not really

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:52 (twenty years ago)

well I don't

I've never been to Ireland

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:52 (twenty years ago)

it's more the vice-versa.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:53 (twenty years ago)

you're adam

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:53 (twenty years ago)

no, i'm not.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:54 (twenty years ago)

XPOST anyway, it doesn't matter because you're not supposed to get them confused. once an australian girl called for my roommate and even though i knew she was australian i said HEY THERE IS A BRITISH PERSON ON THE PHONE FOR YOU and she got really mad for some reason and i laughed

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:54 (twenty years ago)

i was drunk. but yeah, it totally worked on the bouncer. Later, lady sov said it was crap.

;_;

and yes, I am half-Irish. So much so that it IS LEGAL FOR ME TO WORK IN YOUR COUNTRY, ADAM

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:55 (twenty years ago)

You'd still need to do a lot of paperwork. It would be a big hassle!

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:56 (twenty years ago)

Don't bother!

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:56 (twenty years ago)

i am also half irish!

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:56 (twenty years ago)

I'm working in YOUR country now. wtf you gonna do about it?

;)

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Really? I just sorta figured I could wave my irish passport around anywhere in the EU or Britain and just get a job, magic.

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 20:57 (twenty years ago)

i'm kind of mad because my dad never got dual citizenship though he could have and that means i can't get it either :(

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:01 (twenty years ago)

No, ask mark p!

You'd have to jump through all the hoops that my wife would have to if we ever moved back. It's not like that.

xp

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Well, you could get restaurant work pretty easy, I guess.

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Is Q--nn a Welsh name?

killy (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:04 (twenty years ago)

I didn't ask about quinn. I asked about Q--nn.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:26 (twenty years ago)

See, it's not about the individual, or not just, It's about the whole useless swoon I fall into when evil & cute intersect and there are peaky eyebrows and totally hot sinewy wrists involved. Ohhh I really need to not think about it.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:31 (twenty years ago)

Why, what would happen to you?

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:31 (twenty years ago)

my friend who lives in washington heights insists that i must live there. but he went to columbia, and so did everyone he knows in new york. i don't want to be in columbia-town.
-- killy

my friend went to columbia and that's where we used to stay when we'd go to NY. it was kinda balls. especially late at night when the express stopped running. it'd take at least an hour or more to get home. f that

team jaxon (jaxon), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

If they see each other outside of Britain they prefer not to acknowledge each other!

this is about right. well, usually, anyway

i think, i should go to nyc, perhaps in early may

terry lennox. (gareth), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 22:46 (twenty years ago)

tehresa (tehresa), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 22:55 (twenty years ago)

Adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:00 (twenty years ago)

the gershwin is the worst, i hated that place. i remember the paramount being relatively cheap?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:03 (twenty years ago)

I used to stay at Hotel 17 when I was single.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:04 (twenty years ago)

the Gershwin is that cheap?

senseiDancer (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:08 (twenty years ago)

I never stayed there, only filmed during the day. I sent Kyle there and he HATED it and check out. Something to do with midgets.

bb (bbrz), Thursday, 9 March 2006 15:50 (twenty years ago)

I have a "loveseat." It is "broken."

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 9 March 2006 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Can I go SLIGHTLY offtopic for a second. We have a cousin of Sarah's from Indiana coming to visit for a while. We have a smallish couch and an air mattress. But this girl is...really rather large and I'm worried it would be difficult/uncomfortable for her. What does one do in these situations? Also we are both small, slight people and our house has similar proportions. Everything is small. Our bathroom is just big enough for one person to stand in and we have an antique clawfoot tub that favors the smaller person. It's awkward.
