I saw Andee C. at Trader Joes the other night, Ithought of you.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 07:44 (nineteen years ago)

Still figuring it out -- its a relative of Jane so I would be helping out if the lawyer deems it ok for me to make the evaluation of the library's value. im guessing probably this month or april if it happens.

i am jealous of your orderly life.

it has only been march for just under 17 hours, i havent done any of those things yet. soon this day will pass, and i will have only 30 left

girls, cuet"

initially a spelling error, left uncorrected as a semi-conscious homage to the noise board

codename: hilary duff (gareth), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

satwa is brazillian hippie jams, guitar and morrocan sitar. pretty. scant vox, minor fuzz guitar on one track.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

REISSUE CAME OUT LAST YEAR ON TIME LAG...ITS SO GOOD.

it's acoustic raga type stuff. reminds me of Musica Dispersa w/o the vocals.

team jaxon (jaxon), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

they had the satwa vinyl at the record store, but it was pricey and i didn't know anything about it so i didn't get it. the record store has since sold the vinyl on ebay. doh!

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:00 (nineteen years ago)

um, the reissue that is. sometimes i think i should just buy everything that time-lag has for sale when they have it, wait 6 months, and see a nice 10 or 12 percent return on my investment.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

beats an IRA.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

some of the timelag shit goes for such bank on ebay, it's ridiculous... that tower recs set, the charalambides 'historic 6th ward' set and their split with 6 organs. it's all silly. we distro'd the satwa LP at work here, but we're sold out now. we have the CD though.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

I am stuck on the Embarrassment and Pylon at the moment. Wd like to have a brain chip that would just play "Drive Me to the Park' in a loop, non-stop. Or, even better, be in a movie-like montage scene where that song is playing wherever I go.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

i just bought a Dead C lot on ebay. harsh seventies, DR503, 3 singles and two comps. yay!

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

love that shit laurel, check out oxford collapse.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

Mwahhha, Matt -- I went to see Oxford Collapse a couple of weeks ago, in the basement of some bar in Chinatown. I like them v much.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

i think he wants satwa. you can buy it at cost - ask h3l3n about setting up an account.

i think it's funny to post this, instead of just telling you.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:45 (nineteen years ago)

i think it's funny you'd post about ian's breath, instead of just telling him.

twisted village singlehandedly redeemed boston for me:

v/a mutant disco vol. 1
george brigman - jungle rot (ham'ron's feature helped convince me)

(not impossible finds obvs, but philadelphia shops are pretty bad for restocking titles like these.)

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:15 (nineteen years ago)

i hate to say it, cuz i'm not the biggest fan of beantown, but boston pwns philly with a vengeance when it comes to record stores.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

it's a disgrace to philadelphia and the ivy league that upenn could never cultivate ONE MEASLY STINKING record store of note, or even one crappy one! so sad.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:29 (nineteen years ago)

ghost town djs - my boo
shorty swing my way

ham'ron (dubplatestyle), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:31 (nineteen years ago)

i couldn't agree with you there, skot. newbury comix ranked as sub plan 9 (virginia indie chain) in my opinion. i had different expectations having never been here.

on the other hand, sound of market, without used product, outdid newbury handily. that west philly has no decent record stores is what's at issue.

spaceboy = decent and aka = pretty good, althougth the latter could certainly improve.

xpost

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:33 (nineteen years ago)

v/a mutant disco vol. 1

i was on my honeymoon in france (shit, almost 3 years ago) and this hadn't been released in the states yet. i was in a Virgin Megastore and actually jumped up and down like a little girl when i found this. the marriage was almost over.

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:34 (nineteen years ago)

"newbury comix ranked as sub plan 9"

dude, that's one store. i don't even go to newbury comix. i don't know, i'm kinda talking about vinyl anyway. when i was around harvard i went to store after store after store that had decent used vinyl and philly pales in comparison. (as much as i do like individual stores in philly. and i do.)

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

cambridge is where it's at for me. i don't bother with boston proper.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:52 (nineteen years ago)

when we visit maria's step-mom in newton i sometimes go to the newbury there and it's really only good for used dvds. that one is right down the road from the new england mobile book fair which is the shit. i could spend all day in that place.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:55 (nineteen years ago)

i do love sound of market. don't get me wrong. the only store that carries at least 40 nurse with wound CDs on any given day. and for jazz CDs you can't beat it with a stick.

sorry, I am listening to : max roach quartet (w/hank mobley)

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 March 2006 23:58 (nineteen years ago)

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 4 March 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

Just listening to the S/T Armageddon album for the first time in about 15 years, this is freakin' awesome! Early 70's blues rock taken into a new dimension throught the medium of Martin Pugh's "Communication Breakdown" inflected riffing and Keith Relf singing lyrics such as these :

Riding high on burnished wings
And with a brazen eye
The buzzard waits to take its pick
Waiting on that helpless cry
In the time it takes
The moment that you're right off guard
Bridges that you thought you'd crossed
Got to cross 'em all again

Not to mention Louis Cennamo's "electric bowed bass guitar". Oh, and there's a 15 minute song suite in 4 parts called "Basking In The White Of The Midnight Sun".
I can't recommend this one highly enough.

Also playing today :
Tetuzi Akiyama & Jozef van Wissem - Proletarian Drift
Todd Rundgren - Hermit Of Mink Hollow
When - Writercakebox : The Unblessed World Of When 1983-1998

Ennio Morricone - Il Poliziotto Della Brigata Criminale (1974) - amazing. great creepy theme repeated throughout in various different arrangements. some w/a whistle, some w/jazzy muted trumpet. some just piano. one track is sorta loungy w/chick orgasming on top and another track is super fucking rad. ascending and descending strings all crazy growly. it just keeps growing and growing and growing. can't even imagine the tension it would have created in the movie. figured noize dudes would appreciate it

I have that album

"i think i really do like this better than any elevators/floyd album."

it's cool, dude. so, have you flipped for the byrds and gone nutz with THEIR discography yet, or what? i can't remember. i did for the last 2 years or so. my fave moby grape might actually be moby grape '69 and it's possible that "Seeing" might be my fave Spence song and I might even have to vote for seeing over jugband blues for *all-time fave last song on the album/last song hurrah by prominent nutter 60's division*. maybe.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:57 (nineteen years ago)

for the adam and the stormy -- mudhoney just good mudhoney plus horns (well done, methinks) -- mark arm wit applied to current politics (including the "hard on for war" song that was up on that thurston moore political song site whose name i forget) and also lonely yetis ("in search of"). then again, i love mudhoney so what the fuck do i know -- the only worthwhile band that was on sub pop during the "crazy time."

I picked up that new mudhoney disc last night, it's really good, v heavy playing, thick dense sound. Dunno abt the brass section, it's a good idea in theory, and it works well on a few of the numbers featuring them, but on others the guitars take up so much sonic space that the brass sounds like that mellotron sound the stones used on "we love you", which is ok, obv, but a bit of a weird thing to do. Bits of it were hawkwindish, some bits reminded me of sundial. Dan Peters is such a great heavy drummer!

Ian, I think it is just the recording quality that is causing that phasing effect ... that is some serious-ass "cassette recorder another county over" action.. I am just glad it exists. You know, I've never heard Grape Jam! I've always been scared away by all the negative comments. I've never heard "Super Session" for that matter. I'd probably like that though, I love Bloomfield...

You know what there needs to be? A big-ass Clarence White boxset, with all of his rare session work, a big booklet with a sessionography, some Kentucky Colonels live shows ... man, that would kill!

Jack, good news about the Mudhoney; I'm psyched to hear it. I just hope they tour again ... the tour for the last album was awesome, it was just so much better than I thought I had any right to hope for at that point.

Bits of it were hawkwindish,

Pash -- when I saw 'em last time, they encored with "Urban Guerilla"!!

you guys should really check this album by Kay Hoffman out, called "Floret Silva." it's a reissue on Robot Records.

"1977 avant/folk progressive masterpiece from minimalist composer Kay Hoffman. Includes collaborative performances from Jacqueline Darby and Gaio Chiocchio -- members of the legendary, Italian progressive group Pierrot Lunaire. Originally slated for release on RCA/IT (Italy) in '78, the album was later rejected due to recording deadlines, release schedules, and requests by RCA for other artistic/musical considerations. However, many years later, Floret Silva did end up surfacing on a very different shore. Copies of the masters found their way to the highly eclectic Japanese label Belle Antique, whose musical director had heard rumors about the early project in the mid-1980's. As a result, Floret Silva was finally released eight years after the completed sessions in 1985 as a small edition, but very well received LP (Belle Antique 8502, Japan). Apparently, not many copies of the record were exported outside Japan. This merely created even more mystery surrounding the recordings as well as rumors associated with a Pierrot Lunaire-related project. The recordings were based on the 'Carmina Burana' -- a collection of medieval poetry written by various authors of which little is known. Floret Silva was an attempt to find a voice for these anonymous authors in the late 1970's in Florence. Now, nearly 30 years after the completed sessions, Floret Silva blooms again...this time in the US. Available for the first time on CD with remastered sound, including a 12-page booklet with full lyrics and English translations. A lost (but now reclaimed) gem from the Italian progressive underground."

Children's Television Workshop -- improvisational art fuck rock from former members of Sfericic Experiment and Chris Heazelwood cohorts that pretty much sailed anywhere it wanted from the rhtythmic pulse and subliminal melody splattered with guitar of "Tripster".

skot, you heard the Edan "Beauty & the Beat" album? it's farging fantastic. all the songs are built off of old psych and 60s soft pop samples. and he throws a bunch of moog noise on top of them. and instead of trying to rap like he's on helium he tries to sound like Big Daddy Kane.

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 02:59 (nineteen years ago)

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:03 (nineteen years ago)

oh, easily! (no slight on black sabbath intended)

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:08 (nineteen years ago)

did you read the wcpaeb page?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:13 (nineteen years ago)

i'll take the children of sabbath over the children of the byrds anyday.

children of sabbath - all heavy metal ever

children of byrds - REM

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

on a side issue, i wonder if you would like

mathew jonson - marionette (live edit)

its kind of drowsy and a bit k

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

scott, lets not blame the sins of the children, on the parents

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:15 (nineteen years ago)

i do not know know mathew johnson, gareth!

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:17 (nineteen years ago)

track down this record! hes canadian, and it might not be your thing, and it doestn sound anything like the byrds, but i cant stop playing it, its really trippy, in the kind of stare into space kind of way, more k than acid really, its definitely a 6am record

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:19 (nineteen years ago)

and, have you seen ronan yet, he is...there!

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:21 (nineteen years ago)

i haven't seen ronan!!! i don't socialize with ILX people ever really, except from the noise board. i also don't like to go to manhattan. how long is he here? i would like to meet ronan. he's funny sometimes.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:22 (nineteen years ago)

right now I am listening to charalambides 'joy shapes.' i was cooking sausages, and now i am eating a sausage, cheese & basil sandwich!

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:23 (nineteen years ago)

tonite is kind of weird, took half a pill, but it wasnt really that kind of night, so got home too early, but im not really up or down, perhaps i should listen to mahogany, but im only really listening to minimal plip plop hawtin style, or prewar music at the moment, i forgot what rock music is like

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:23 (nineteen years ago)

you should listen to some neil young.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:25 (nineteen years ago)

i dunno, he djed at subtonic last night. its weird, these people (ronan, tracer etc), i forget they are ilx people, it all merged into one, so long ago

you;ve got miss lp back now havent you?

i think i should put the cosmic michael lp up onto some webspace, its upstate ny psyche, seeds meets bobby brown

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:26 (nineteen years ago)

i love neil young! well, everbody knows this is nowhere, and on the beach, anyway, those are the 2 lps i listen to

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

dont tell stormy;)

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:28 (nineteen years ago)

i am not sure if LP is back yet or just going to be back very soon; i haven't seen her at any rate.

do you like time fades away?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:28 (nineteen years ago)

i actually do love lots of byrdsy stuff. felt are one of my favorite bands. i dig beechwood sparks too. and the tyde.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

i'm too scared to meet ilx people.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

i think i have time fades away, but never really played it, thats like 74ish?

beechwood sparks? the tyde? this is terrible news:(

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

i met a couple ilx people once

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

time fades away was recorded on tour after harvest. side 2 is killer. side 1 is slightly spottier, but still got some good dongs. "don't be denied" and "last dance" though are fuckin amazing.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

nightcrawlers - little black egg

pity the lp is just rehashes of same song*

*yea, i know, all the best music is rehashes

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:35 (nineteen years ago)

i have a double live lp bootleg of neil young in cincinatti 1971, its great! it has that song that the pixies covered, and i cant remember what it is, is it...winterlong, or something

im kinda drunk and coming down sort of, so i might be wrong

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

was "it's all been done" by the barenaked ladies(?) omnipresent across the pond as it was here?

xp; that is winterlong.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

i love the tyde album i have. they do one song that sounds exactly like felt. on purpose, i think.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

my roommate, is from cincinatti. xpost

we had a felt record at the store and i listened to it and was like "oh, this is not very good."

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:38 (nineteen years ago)

it felt kinda.... goth?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:38 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, you might not dig felt. they aren't everyone's cup of tea, you know? i'm fine with that.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:39 (nineteen years ago)

i mean, i could point you in the direction of their great instrumental guitar stuff and all that, but, eh, why bother? there is plenty to listen to out there.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:40 (nineteen years ago)

barenaked ladies werent big here. there name was kinda known...ish. ive never heard them

re: the byrds, i forgot yesterdays train. gene parsons was good too!

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:41 (nineteen years ago)

do i need more than the first two albums by the band? i mean, i love them so much. but am i just setting myself up for disappointment?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

REM were a power pop band w/ some post-punk dance whatever elements and Pete Buck had listened to a lot of psych records but they sounded almost nothing like the Byrds.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 26 March 2006 04:22 (nineteen years ago)

I think "Why" is my favorite, too, but "Renaissance Fair" is something - the counterpoint between the two guitars and Hillman's bass.

Also: children of Byrds = early Velvet Underground (very Byrds influenced)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 26 March 2006 07:30 (nineteen years ago)

I really like gareth's top 10 ... I can't have a problem with any list that has "Draft Morning" so high! holy fuck! amazing, sad, trippy tune... "Goin Back" -- yeah, that's up there too of course.

"WHY"
"OLD JOHN ROBINSON"
..

let's face it, they ruled

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:08 (nineteen years ago)

... for one album at least ... I think the first four have their silly/filler spots, no question (YOunger Than less so -> "Time Between"!!!!! Fucking beautiful toon) .. but, on Notorious, it's just so perfect and creepy and sad and beautiful ... what a record.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:10 (nineteen years ago)

he wasn't yet a member, but Clarence White makes Notorious the beast that it is .. wow. it's such a sad record .. david leaves .. vietnam .. covering "Goin Home" -- it's like this "holy shit life in america is sucking right now" move ... even tho these dudes never got sucked into trendy psychy stuff.

When I was driving around the mountains west of Boulder a year and a half ago, trying to get the election out of my mind - Notorious provided a perfect soundtrack, and salved wounds

"Change IS Now" ---- in my psychy dreams, there is a 10 minute version..

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:26 (nineteen years ago)

oh yes, i can see that

its funny, how they cycle in and out of vogue, isn't it. at the moment they seem to be neither in nor out

sometimes i think of the byrds as 'america', and other times as 'LA'. i never think of them as holloway road though (though holloway road is great, in a different way)

anyway, i decided, draft morning is my favourite, because it does one of my favourite tricks, being all trippy and languid, and then the bass sort of tidies things up again

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:42 (nineteen years ago)

haha i kind of described minimal/plipplop music, but lets not get into that here

I think we can be thankful that "Triad" didn't end up on Notorious Byrd Brothers.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 26 March 2006 17:15 (nineteen years ago)

Royal Trux did a cover of "Why" on their tour after the third album (the second self-titled one). They were doing a lot of covers then. "Radar Eyes." The show I saw they did "I'm Waiting for the Day" from Pet Sounds and "Dear Mr. Fantasy" with Hagerty singing. I heard they were doing "Scarlet Begonias," too.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 26 March 2006 17:18 (nineteen years ago)

Do you guys know "Lady Friend?" Surely Crosby's best! I agree w/ Meltzer that it would have fit great on Notorious Byrd Brothers.

I bought the McIntyre CDR at the Euphonics / Vorticella concert on sunday -- Euphonics is McIntyre and Karen Stackpole, they played a duet with a huge wall of 10 gongs, melodies & drones, sounded like Thomas Koner's 'Teimo' but live. I begged them to record an album.

http://www.gongmagic.com/Adventure_with_the_gong.htm (scroll down)

have only listened to disc 2 'gongbath' so far, but it's pretty deep.

a friend loaned me about six CDs of Tuvan music in response to me loaning him 'Hearing Solar Winds', the Huun-Huur-Tu Live CDs are the best things I've ever heard from them, I'm going to wake up the Tuvan thread once I get through all of it

I NEED THIS. i've never seen anything of his on cd before.

team jaxon (jaxon), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 22:10 (nineteen years ago)

He did that mix CD a couple years back that, frankly I didn't dig too much. DG stocked it for a while..

Stormy Davis (diamond), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

this one? what was wrong with it?

http://www.dustygroove.com/images/products/z/zzdiscothequeofalexan_101b.jpg

team jaxon (jaxon), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 23:39 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, I don't know ... it definitely started out sounding ok but by the end the whole just got too gay and samey ... no real super-blissful moments or shocks or anything, just kinda there

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 30 March 2006 05:19 (nineteen years ago)

V/A The Celluloid Years -- god knows why, but i had a yen to hear "world destruction"

Jack Cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 March 2006 06:46 (nineteen years ago)

also just got in the mail the messthetics greatest hits comp -- Tronics never fail to please

Jack Cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 March 2006 06:49 (nineteen years ago)

from tom?

The Celluloid Years is weird, it's missing the Phase II single right? That's like one of the key Laswell hip-hop releases of that series.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 30 March 2006 07:44 (nineteen years ago)

fun set last night Dan.. that is a nice spot, we ate Burmese right at the bar + drinks were ridiculously cheap

meth lab for doug flutie (sanskrit), Thursday, 30 March 2006 11:44 (nineteen years ago)

i'm spotty when it comes to hip hop and dance stuff, dan -- so i don't think i've heard the phase II single, or if i have, i don't remember.

loved the puritan guitars song on messethetics.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

new ihsahn solo album. pretty cool progmetal hoedown. arcturus fans will dig it.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

mike- I thought I saw you there for like a second then no more. It was way crowded, there was some kind of going away party, that luckily we didn't scare away, a birthday party, then our friends/crowd. Mr. Bumrocks was unbelievably nice/cool and played some great stuff. I hadn't pulled my records untill an hour before so I basically did a little post-punky stuff and a little 60s baroque pop stuff...but we all had fun, if we can maintain that vibe in the future we'll be good, but we'll see.

The Phase II single is part of the same series, with the Futura 2000 artwork and featuring B-Side, the french female rapper who's on Change Le Beat and who did some other singles with Laswell in that style.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

did i mention that i have been carrying around a cassette copy of the celluloid *beat freaks* comp in my coat pocket for weeks now? well, i have.

supposedly, the new dissection album was overnighted to me yesterday. can'twaitcan'twaitcan'twaitcan'twait!

i have never heard of this place either, a quick google reveals: http://www.hospitalproductions.com/

jammyland is a good spot for those $8 dub represses from white plains that cost you $10-$12 elsewhere.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Friday, 31 March 2006 05:49 (nineteen years ago)

no idea -- i just got the reissue on Water. like it a lot -- sort of folk psych with synth damage manipulation around the edges.

here's one of my favorite battiato tracks, ian. there's a pretty good comp called gli anni settanta - the first disc of it is consistently great.
