Marissa died.

milo z (mlp), Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

it was "tragic" - i don't like her character all that much and her acting was kind of laughable, but i think i'm just a sucker for ryan's sad-face + he cried too.

(they were run off the road by marissa's slacker surfer bad-boy ex-boyfriend just when they thought they'd gotten him outta their lives for good. he "just wanted to talk!")

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

mister rogers almost made me cry but when Bjork went down the gallows i busted out laughing. i was in a manhattan theater and the friend i was with was not pleased.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 19:37 (nineteen years ago)

i got really high and went to see the Passion of the Christ in the theater, and the beginning Matrix-like sequences with the devil were so funny that i was in PAIN trying to stop myself from laughing. i almost had to leave the theater (and i probably should have, that movie was gross!)

killy ii (baby lenin pin), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 20:48 (nineteen years ago)

when i was in middle school i went to see evita and cried at the beginning when they wouldn't let her see her dad's coffin or whatever.

tehresa (tehresa), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

when Bjork went down the gallows

I was muttering "hang her" for the last hour.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Matrix-like sequences with the devil

WHAT?

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

Pete I think we should organize a viewing of the Passion of the Christ now.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

DC FASW&WPoTC?

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

I'll netflix it, I should get it in about 2 years.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

wow, I don't have internet access for three days and look what happens.

These are the ones I can think of (I consulted my Netflix list because I couldn't really remember all of them). There could be more. also, I've *ed the ones that I cried particularly hard at:

*Land Before Time (When the mom dies)
*Mulan (only the first time)
*The Lion King (only the first 15 times)
*The Joy Luck Club (everytime, bawling from start to finish)
*Forrest Gump (depending on mood)
*The Abyss (just during the scene when he types "LOVE YOU.... WIFE")
*Whale Rider (during the speech)
*King Kong
*Pay It Forward
*Nobody Knows
*Boys Don't Cry
Braveheart
Casablanca
Cool Hand Luke
*Edward Scissorhands
*Finding Nemo
Gegen Die Wand
House of Flying Daggers
Pollock
Philadelphia
Say Anything
*Schindler's List
The Episode of the Simpsons in which Lisa and Bart play against each other in Ice Hockey
Unforgiven
Easy Rider
Dead Poets Society
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The Point
Sailor Moon R (movie)
Jibeuro (The Way Home)
The Episode of 24 when they killed off Edgar

ok, that's all I can think of right now.

val (notvalery), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

aww i cried at land before time, its one of the first movies i remember crying at, besides ET

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:32 (nineteen years ago)

i cried at Hard Candy because i lost $9 to see that shit

killy ii (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:36 (nineteen years ago)

and by that, i mean it was an awful movie. my face hurt afterwards from CRINGING so much. UGH!

killy ii (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:40 (nineteen years ago)

oh wow, usually i do get choked up at the end of edward scissorhands, thanks for reminding me.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:42 (nineteen years ago)

Tom got all fucked up once over an episode of Futurama. The one with his dog.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:53 (nineteen years ago)

aww

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

edward scissorhands is a weepathon at the end.

it's a wonderful life has me choking back tears from beginning to end. when harry lets loose with his "to my brother george bailey, the richest man in town" speech, i usually explode into hacking sobs.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

the very last scene of fire walk with me

milton parker (Jon L), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:21 (nineteen years ago)

& the ending of sweet movie when the commercial director whispers "yeeeeah, we're gonna sell the chocolate", I just lost it

milton parker (Jon L), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:32 (nineteen years ago)

& after the videos for "winner takes it all" & "the day before you came", my friend was looking at me funny and I was like "what, I just got a little soot in my eye, shut up"

milton parker (Jon L), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:35 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah.... it's a wonderful life should also be on there.

and just last night, the second to last hour of 24, where Biddy had to say goodbye to Checkers :(

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

Silverlake Life: A View From Here
I've only seen it twice and it's absolutely destroyed me each time. You will never forget this movie.

Nobody Knows
Plays on a strong debt to Grave Of Fireflies, but still a killer.

A Woman Under The Influence
The "coming home" scene in particular is a doozy.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 25 May 2006 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

Nobody Knows was great. The scene with the passing trains and the one near the airport with the suitcase are unforgettable.

Yi Yi - even moreso the second time
Eternal Sunshine

sleep (sleep), Thursday, 25 May 2006 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah. I cried during eternal sunshine too. Nobody Knows had me bawling. It should have gotten two *'s.

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

yeah its a wonderful life DEFINITELY

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:02 (nineteen years ago)

i cried at the end of everything is illuminated

tehresa (tehresa), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:07 (nineteen years ago)

I have not seen that yet, but I will netflix it. Also, I just remembered that I cried during Angela's Ashes. and, even though it's not a movie, I cried uncontrollably at the end of Where the Red Fern Grows (in class!).

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

first time i saw "Cries and Whispers" i didn't cry at all throughout the whole movie and then when the screen went black i just bawled for like 10 minutes.

other than that, all it takes is a halfway decent string section to get me misty-eyed.

also, Killy OTM re:Passion devil scenes. that's some funny shit

Fetchboy (Felcher), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

I got choked up during X2 last night. Until they cut to Cyclops and Wolverine being massive pussies and I started laughing, a lot.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/7380000/7382222.jpg

i cried when she died! this was before i knew it was a FAKE diary. bastards.

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:41 (nineteen years ago)

i continue to cry during Field of Dreams.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:45 (nineteen years ago)

also, during the episode of the Simpsons when they explain why Maggie doesn't have any baby pictures in the family album and it's because Homer keeps them all at work. I think I was probably having weird hormonal things going on but I definitely got weepy.

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 25 May 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

i actually didn't like mr holland's opus, but I still cried at it.

also, I've cried during ER (last time I watched was three years ago).

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 20:57 (nineteen years ago)

tehresa (tehresa), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:05 (nineteen years ago)

val (notvalery), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:11 (nineteen years ago)

will the noize board teach me how to cry?

gear (gear), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

i know, really. i never cry at movies. i cry at the news. i cried just now because my cat has to be put to sleep. but movies? fuck a movie. unless it has something to do with a kid's parents getting killed.

killy ii (baby lenin pin), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:16 (nineteen years ago)

sorry about your cat:(

-- gear (speed.to.roa...), May 25th, 2006. (gear) (later) (link) (admin)

the funny thing is i cry at movies but very, very rarely in "real life" situations.

tehresa (tehresa), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:48 (nineteen years ago)

i think i got glassy when dude had to kill his mom in Shawn of the Dead

jäxøñ (jaxon), Thursday, 25 May 2006 23:50 (nineteen years ago)

I cry all the time. at everything. Movies, books, tv, some commercials even, and ESPECIALLY real life. not that I'm sad all the time, just that it's easy for me to tear up when I think about depressing/emotional things. also when I think people are mad at me/don't like me.

val (notvalery), Friday, 26 May 2006 13:30 (nineteen years ago)

also, killy, sorry about your cat :( my dog recently had to be put to sleep. it's no fun.

JW (ex machina), Friday, 26 May 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah, I just remembered that I cried at Marie Antoinette (1938). Even though, yeah, she and the king shouldn't have been so ignorant of political atmosphere of France, I still wanted them to get away.

Episodes of Futurama that made me cry:

*the one where Fry's dog waits for him to come home and he never does
*the one where Leela meets her parents for the first time
*the one with the candy hearts where Fry choking on a "U LEAVE ME BREATHLESS" one and Leela was like "BREATH FRY BREATH!"
*the one where Fry gets the Robot Devil's hands and then he takes them back and he can't play his opera anymore but Leela is like "I wanna hear how it ends" and suddenly he can play beautiful music without the devil's hands WTF

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

I am such a weepy LOST nerd, but the most cryingest thing they ever did was when Jin & Sun broke up or whatever and there's that Damien Rice song and then Hurley's diskman batteries die.

I cried during Star Wars when the stormtroopers came on the screen. I think this was the rerelease, so I was 5 or so.

I cried during episode 3, even though it was bad. the other (first three) movies I didn't cry in because I was too young to cry (I didn't start crying at movies until I started getting my "moon").

Valery, if you read "other (first three)" as meaning episodes 1 and 2, people might get the wrong idea about your age.

I cried during an episode of I Heart 1988. Not the VH-1 one tho, the BBC one. (As if that makes a difference?!)

I KNOW! I was feeling really down and lonely that night and I was especially missing home. when baby lisa drops her ice cream and starts crying and then bart looks over and gives her a scoop of his - SO TENDER. god, I'm getting misty just thinking about it.
