i think that people who are new to ILX or post very infrequently tend to go unnoticed, but are all of a sudden are on your radar when they post a picture of themselves.
i had been posting for six months before the post that resulted in nicka's opening post, which was my first wdyll.
also, for some people it may take some time to "get" how things go on ILX, whereas wdyll is a pretty straightforeward concept and is almost always in the new answers.
