there've only been 2 episodes and tonight is ep 3, so i'm not really sure! but i'm still watching it, so i think i'm sold! also: cute people, superheroes.

(bear in mind that what i watch is partly dependent on: being in canadania, have not cable, rely on airwaves, antenna, 3 channels, internet)

TH, I remember many winters of ice cube feet. I got a little washtub and would fill it with hottest tap water and soak my feet while I read/TVed, just to thaw them out for a while. Very good for your circulation, too -- the heat draws blood to your feet and circulates the cold blood that's pooled there back to your trunk.

You don't need an excuse for doing those things, Laurel.

FYI everyone unless things have changed dramatically since last I was "involved" in such there IS no "default date" for heat turn on, it's a default temperature and if your building is below it, they need to turn the heat on. You should talk to you landlady/lord ASAP if you are not getting heat (though do be advised that the default temperature is actually kind of absurdly low).

if it is really 55 or lower you need to call, they have to turn it on. Haha tho be careful what you wish for, one year in NYC my heat was just gone, like wearing 3 pairs of socks to bed + sweatpants + leg warmers + long sleeve shirt + hoodie + hat kind of thing going on, so I bitched and bitched, then realized that was dumb because I was the asst prop mgr and could just do it myself, got someone to fix the problem (which turned out to be that there was something sketchy going on with the BOTTOM floor, which was over 100 degrees, and no one else was getting heat--why bottom person didn't complain is a mystery), and then my apt was 98 F FOR THE REST OF TIME. ;_;

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

You could get a space heater, if you really don't want to interact with her. It wouldn't raise your electric bill by that much, you'd just have to remember to turn it off and move it as necessary. The space heater is my current solution to my heating problem and it actually works ok.

I just wanted to make you appreciate nature.
Susan stop crying i don't hate ya. the worlds not against you I'm sorry your
father raped ya. So what, you had your coochie in your dad's mouth. Thats no
reason to start wiggin and spaz out.
she said "Help me I think I'm having a seisure!"
I said "I'm high too (bitch) Quit grabbin my T-shirt (let go!)
Would you calm down you're startin to scare me.
she said " I'm twenty-six years old and I'm not married. I don't have any
kids and I can't cook"
I'm over here Sue, (hi) you're talkin to the plant, look!
We need to get to a hospital 'fore it's too late
Cause I never seen no-one eat as many shrooms as you ate.

[Chorus:]
[1st repeat Em says "Whoops!" after first line and "It was an accident!" at the end]
[2nd repeat same as original Chorus]
Susan (wait!) Where you goin? You better be careful
[G] Leave me alone dad, I'm sick of gettin my hair pulled
I'm not your dad, quit tryin to swallow your tongue
Want some gum? Put down the scissors, 'fore you do somethin dumb
I'll be right back just chill baby please?
I gotta go find Dave he's the one who gave me these.
"John, where's Dave at before I bash you?"
[J] He's in the bathroom; I think he's takin a crap dude!
"Dave! Pull up your pants, we need an ambulance
There's a girl upstairs talkin to plants
choppin her hair off, and there's only two days left
of Spring Break, how long do these things take to wear off?"
[D] Well it depends on how many you had? I took three she ate the other
twenty-two caps Now she's upstairs cryin out her eyeballs, drinking lysol.
"She's gonna die dude." I know and it's my fault!
My god!
[Chorus:]
[1st repeat Em says "I'm sorry!" after second line and "What do I do?" at the end]
[2nd repeat same as original Chorus]
My God, I'm so sorry!
I'm so sorry! Susan please wake up!
Please! Please wake up!! What are you doing?!
You're not dead!! You're NOT dead!
I know you're not dead!

Circus Circus still the most fucked up thing on the planet, New York New York is incredibly strange, MGM Grand, the Coca-Cola Museum of Soda, don't miss old Vegas downtown off the strip & do one complete walk down the strip (which is now one long shopping mall, compared to ten years ago -- retail shops lining the sidewalks) and for god's sake stay no longer than 1.5 days or it'll take you the next month to throw off the depression

i've been teaching my tutoring students about impulse and conservation of linear momentum this week and i've been talking about collisions all week! and giving seatbelt lectures to everyone!

whatta hypocrite!

the real issue is that i've turned into a lazy palo alto suburbanite, and i keep getting nailed on this seatbelt thing because i keep having these mornings where i hop into my car at the gf's house, drive three blocks to peet's coffee, jump out and grab a drink, drive two blocks to the tutoring office, duck in to grab paperwork, drive three blocks back to my house.

if it's too short of a trip to fuck w/ a seatbelt = i should just walk or use my bike.

With a tendency to stare zombie-like and run into stationary objects, a new species of impaired motorist is hitting the roads: the Ambien driver.

Ambien, the nation's best-selling prescription sleeping pill, is showing up with regularity as a factor in traffic arrests, sometimes involving drivers who later say they were sleep-driving and have no memory of taking the wheel after taking the drug.

It was not until her son came to spend several nights that Ms. Evans said she realized that despite the body cast, she was getting up to eat while she was asleep. "During the day, I couldn't even make it to the bathroom by myself," Ms. Evans said.

The first night her son was there, he found her standing in the kitchen, body cast and all, frying bacon and eggs. The next night he found her eating a sandwich, Ms. Evans said, and sent her back to bed. Later that same night, her son arose to find her standing in the kitchen again. "I had turned the oven on," she recalled. "I store pots and pans in the oven and I had turned it to 500 degrees."

...

"One day," she said, "I got up — my husband describes this in great detail — I got a package of hamburger buns and I just tore it open like a grizzly bear and just stood there and ate the whole package. He said a couple things to me and then he realized I was asleep." She has switched to working days and no longer takes Ambien.

'Lost' Star Up for X-Men Role?

Lost star Josh Holloway is being tipped to star in the next X-Men movie as fan favorite Gambit. Holloway, who plays Sawyer on the hit TV show, was set to star as Gambit in X-Men: The Last Stand but pulled out because of TV commitments. But it's reported the model/actor will star in the next installment, which will not feature many of the film's original stars, including Hugh Jackman, Sir Ian McKellen and Halle Berry. The film's producer Lauren Shuler Donner tells Moviehole, "Remember in Lost? There was a guy in there that was the perfect Gambit, the guy with the straight hair, good-looking, the bad boy… Sawyer. The reason we didn't use Gambit was because in a sense his persona is a bit like Wolverine in that he's got attitude and his power is not quite as exciting as the others. That's why we went to Nightcrawler on 2 because he looked different than everybody else and he had a great power. So yes, I think we would weave Gambit within our story, (but) it wouldn't be The Gambit Movie." Gambit possesses the ability to charge objects with energy, causing them to explode.

BEIJING -- A 17-year-old boy in northeastern China was so disappointed with the looks of a woman he met over the Internet that he hanged himself after seeing her face-to-face, state media reported Friday.

The unnamed teenager first contacted the woman -- known by her chat moniker "Qunjiaofeiyang", or "Flying Skirt" -- using the popular Chinese online messaging software QQ, Xinhua news agency said.

The girl described herself as a beautiful 19-year-old and the pair chatted on the Web for weeks before arranging a December 26 rendezvous in the nearby city of Mudanjiang, in far northeastern Heilongjiang province.

The boy arrived to discover the woman far less attractive than advertised and 10 years older than him, Xinhua said.

The boy immediately returned home, lost his appetite, and four days later hanged himself from a tree.

The other night, around the corner from my apartment, a racist white gun shop owner attacked Ashy Larry!

Ashy Larry Gets The Don Imus Treatment
May 4th, 2007 | Author: A-Plus

It’s been a rough week for former Chappelle’s Show standout Donnell Rawlings.

The comedian, whose memorable appearance as Ashy Larry on the show, was fired from New York radio station Power 105.1 this week.

The termination comes on the heels of a two week suspension.

Rawlings seems to be one of several jocks who may be caught up in the “Imus fallout.”

The controversial comment came the same week as the “Imus incident” and prompted Power to suspend Rawlings and issue a statement about a commitment to more responsible programming.

Rawlings trouble’s did not end with the radio.

After a performance at a Jersey City nightclub Thursday, the comedian was also the victim of racially charged attack.

Rawlings and his girlfriend left the club around 10pm and found themselves confronted by a Caucasian man in an SUV.

The allegedly yelled racist remarks, brandished a gun at the pair and fired three shots. A short time later, police intervened and arrested the unidentified suspect before anything more serious could occur.

"This is the sort of incident that the authorities and the powers that be need to be concerned about,” Rawlings tells Hip Hop DX, via his publicist.

“Rampant, overt and baseless hatred that lives and breathes on our streets daily. Jokes spoken in jest are not the root of evil in our society... it's ignorant, angry people that create chaos. I think that the saddest part is that if this had happened to someone random (read: with no media presence) this incident would go largely ignored...that is the scary part"

friend and dad to be calling me up asking: "circumcision: y/n?"

gr8080, Monday, 11 June 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

so last summer crush-x and i went on a few dates. i went out of town and wrote a 'hi i really like you, let's pick this back up when i return' email, and got a very favorable response. but when i returned, i got stood-up at a date.

i didn't hear shit until december, when i got a 'hi, i treated you really bad' email, kind of hairshirt, with a bit of 'if you want to meet up again...' and i responded 'yeah, okay, let's try again.' and then i never heard back.

today (june) i got an email that said 'hi, i've been meaning to email you for a while, i really want to talk to you on the phone -- what's your number?' and i'm not sure if i can respond. mostly i'm embarrassed to have gained 15 lbs in the intervening year, but i don't want to get emotionally involved again, and then be stood up a third time.

Q:
Dear tipsy 21-yr-old college dude who just got out of his first serious relationship,
Ever since seeing 'an inconvenient truth', I've been wondering what I can do about global warming - I live in a small town, so I can't give up my car! And the recycling depot is in the next town! But I know I need to do my part. Do you have any tips for me?

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Quit 1. and 3. but keep 2. I mean c'mon.

I can't drink it all the time

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

what about iced coffee? you are drinking it through a straw, so it doesn't really touch your teeth all that much? probably extremely flawed logic but i'm going to keep telling myself that.

bell_labs, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

Keep drinking tons of coffee, use the expensive Rembrandt whitening toothpaste, problem solved.

But yeah soda = poison.

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

smoking and soda are def worse for teeth than coffee (dentist has told me anyway in conversation (i don't smoke or soda-ize tho.) also, those two are worse for health in general! a cup or two of coffee a day though, yeah, benefits outweight risks - but wait unless your enamel is at super high risk?

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

parents leaving house tomorrow morning for two days at seaside

youngest and most socially insecure brother "proving himself" by inviting all his (far more streetwise) friends round to ostensibly drink and smoke in garden

this can only end horrifically
