i saw a roach in my apartment and was reminded of that time about five years before my grandma passed away when she was living all alone in her little apartment, going senile and blind and not realizing that her place had a massive roach infestation until my dad visited and thought "ok wtf" and got her a full-time caregiver. and it made me depressed because i visited her several times in the subsequent years and watching someone you love die slowly is a truly truly awful thing. pls don't ban me for being emo but i miss her. she was a nice lady.

My grandma's Alzheimer's is progressing much faster than anyone expected and all my aunt/uncle give a shit about is getting a piece of her money.
We let them in to her house to get some furniture that wasn't sellable, fuck-os made off with a bunch of collectible horses, dolls, etc.. even though they know it's all being sold off so she doesn't have to go on govt. assistance and get stuck in a shitty home. Wanted to buy her car for $1500 - Carmax cut a check for $4000 no questions asked. Didn't understand why one of their kids couldn't move into the house rent-free. Apparently intimated that I stole money from her in the process of keeping her fed and medicated for the last two years.

some 15 yr old kids tried to steal a friends car on sat night...only smashed small window, but then couldnt sort how to start the thing. they popped the hood, but then couldnt sort how to unlatch it, so tried a crow bar. they found a spare door key hidden in glove box, but couldnt sort how to get it to engage the starter. they tried that for sooooo long that they killed the battery. since that failed the totally wrecked the ignition.
thier idiocy got the best of them as patrolling members of ny's finest caught on to them and collared, as they like to say, them.
since there was a piece of mail in the car, the cops swung round to her place and woke her up and called her out to the street and get a statement. evidently the cops, in their childish pride, didn't think it would be a big deal to show the young fools who would be pressing charges against them and exactly where she lives.
i saw some teen getting cuffed on fri afternoon at the triangle by the lorimer L stop. she looked fucked!! off and a touch beaten...tears eventually came. a bunch of other youths hung about near by with 4 cops (including a lt.) and, for unknown reasons, a FBI man...as i passed under the bqe, two individuals looking like school officials with security badges and walkie talkies approached the scene. lord knows...

i had some crazy shit happen to me last week. these two guys who used to be roommates from freshman year in college both live up here in nyc, among others. x was a super intense business dude, y was a major partier and seemed like a slacker, but at times would mention wanting to go to fbi academy.
so i run into x at a cmj show three years ago. he burned out on i-banking and ditched his career to manage restaurants. seemed real happy. i asked him what y was up to and he said he works for the dept of homeland security. then about a year ago i'm at an old college friend's party and y is there. i ask him about his job and he goes "nah, there's nothing too secretive, lots of boring travel and mostly speaking at law enforcement seminars and conferences".
last week i'm walking in chelsea on 10th in the gallery and auto repair shop area. i see y walking towards me kind of shabbily dressed with a hispanic man. when his eyes met mine he just shook his head "no" and kept walking. freaked me the fuck out. either this whole thing is a put-on or i almost had a donnie brasco blow-his-cover moment.

Hey Edward - my ILX and IRL worlds collided yesterday when I was in yr town and at a record shop with some friends who knew the girl working there. She was wearing an eye patch and started telling them the story of what happened a couple weeks ago when I bottle exploded in her face. I was like - woah, that sounds familiar. I didn't say anything obv because I mean what is there to say. "Hey, this guy Edward who I don't actually know and whose whole name I don't know either is writing about you on the internet". Still, thought it was kind of wild.

hey enbb that's wild, I just saw her last night, too. she's doing a lot better, can see light & movement out of that eye so there's some hope. she is a peach and the last person in the world some dumb shit like this should happen to. dunno if she got into this - but she's in band with a girl who fell off a roof last week and ended up in the ICU. fractured pelvis & spine, ruptured bladder, shattered ankle. f'kn cursed.

She did tell us about her bandmate and that's just crazy. She did seem to be doing better though which is great. Such a freak accident.
We are actually in Pvd pretty often because a couple of our closest friends live down there. We went to the Pawsox game and then got BBQ take-out from some new place that just opened and it was AWESOME. Next time we're down there for the night I'll drop you a line to see if we can't set some sort of FAP up!

the weird thing is my wife begged and nagged and demanded i move out ... and then when i finally did it (today and yesterday) she got really pissed with me, she was like "i just wanted you to take a suitcase and move out for a couple weeks, or until i was ready to let you back in". and i was like, no way that's happening, i'm taking my books and CDs and clothes and all my shit with me, i'm not living like a hobo until you're emotionally ready for me. and that seems to be a huge sticking point for her, like i've pushed it to the brink by doing that. i don't get it. it's a mystery to me.

I'm biased, but her being straight up with the shrink right from the get-go may be about as close to a godsend as you can expect at this point.
I made my mistake and it hurt worse than I ever want to admit, but I somehow (sheer luck perhaps) maintained for the 11 months or so that it took to get back into life again. Last Saturday I was the cohost of a big housewarming slash engagement party. It ain't over till etc.
