One of my buddies in high school had an older brother who was kind of this Byronic hero of weed...he was three or four years older than us and I think dropped out of college to play poker, xbox, and smoke weed. He would take up all these weird jobs to accommodate his lifestyle, one of which -- a joint venture with another stoner friend -- was selling, door-to-door, some sort of magical vacuum that cost thousands of dollars because, allegedly, it was the only vacuum cleaner that actually cleaned carpet.

I assume this is the same thing...

Lily P is basically GREAT except for their customer base. The textiles themselves are the best thing going, and every item I've seen in person has been of v high-quality construction...but I can only buy it on sale sale sale. Plus I've never lived anywhere that the priviliged masses wore LP, so I can afford to be kind of tongue-in-cheek with it.

do they have those outside texas? never seen em anywhere else.

the term "monster thickburger" is all kinds of RONG.

dmr, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

It’s a 1,420-calorie sandwich.

Eating one Thickburger is like eating two Big Macs or five McDonald’s hamburgers.

Add 600 calories worth of Hardee’s fries and you get more than the 2,000 calories that many people should eat in a whole day, according to Michael Jacobson of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, which calls the Thickburger “food porn.”

What’s in a Thickburger?

Two 1/3-lb. charbroiled patties of Angus beef, topped with no less than four strips of crispy bacon, three slices of American cheese, and some mayonnaise — all on a buttered, toasted, sesame seed bun.

scott seward, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

culver's is inferior to steak n shake in every way except for jingles. do they cook their steak in butter or just butter the buns? when i used to see that ad all the time for some reason i figured by 'butterburger' they just meant a buttered bun.

hardees is disgusting, those burgers are flavorless & mushy as fuck & i can only handle them in monsterburger/frisco burger form because theres enough bacon mayo etc to make up for the burgers.

deeznuts, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

oh they also cost like 5 bucks a pop & run the most annoying ad campaign of all time

deeznuts, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

there are a couple of whataburgers in my hometown of Tulsa. There was an execution style killing at one of them years ago.

I ate at Hardee's but don't remember if it tasted good. I do remember that a large number of drop-outs from my high school worked there. Made for somewhat awkward lunch breaks.

mizzell, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

ive never met anyone who eats a cheeseburger faster than me. the one time i was beaten was after id eaten like 10 frozen french toast sticks (yes, frozen french toast sticks) but forgot about it & i think was the last one finished eating at our table, which was really embarrassing for me

ADVANTAGES:
Hardee's - Can read newspaper for free.
Arby's - Jamocha shakes
Sonic - Can eat in car
Krystal - Such wonderful little cheeseburgers.

DISADVANTAGES:
Hardee's - You will die soon if you eat their food.
Arby's - That ain't really horseradish.
Sonic - Awkward tipping situations.
Krystal - NEAREST ONE IS IN FUCKING WEST MEMPHIS.

Your frat-boy-like habit of shouting out exactly how many days are left before the weekend in the last few seconds of the newscast, just before signing off and Good Morning America coming on, used to grate on me pretty bad.

But for some reason I have done a 180 and your gleeful announcement of the remaining days until the blessed weekend now make my morning. Keep it up, Dan Meisenzahl, you make mornings a little easier for this viewer.

grady, about two years ago they closed off wabash between wacker and kinzie because they were bringing in an air handling unit. because it weighed so much the sikorski twin rotor helicopter couldn't fly very far with it and the buildings are too dense and tall down there so they had to stop the truck on the bridge over the river and fly it up to the building.

a little advance notice from the city would've been nice.

lol the buy a pony and fuck it diet

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

For me, side-stitches were always connected to breathing, and not breathing deeply enough into the belly. Let it all hang out and fill it up with air. I also used to time my breathing to footsteps: one step to inhale, two steps to exhale, whic has the added benefit of making your jog feel like a little waltz around the park.

Laurel, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:45 (eighteen years ago)

oh yes totally

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

the side stitch happened to me for about a week straight, then vanished just as i was starting to really worry about it. i think these things come and go, but like robyn says watch your form. i find that when i get crampy it's because i've lost focus and am running like an idiot, breathing sloppily, etc.

side stitches for me=not enough water b4 running

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

I always felt like mine were connected to pounding a ton of water before running. I have not run in about ten years, though.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

thnx for advice yeah sometimes it seems like when i breathe deeply it causes the stitch or something - but i'm 'breathing deeply' every 10 steps maybe so thats the prob

deej, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I also used to time my breathing to footsteps: one step to inhale, two steps to exhale

whoa, i don't think i've ever done different numbers for inhale and exhale, perhaps i've been doing it all wrong. :(

http://www.well.com/~woodman/hike.html

gabbneb, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

nowadays I only get side stitches from smoking and walking too fast at the same time. I never get 'em when running, I thought it was always related to breathing

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

maybe i've been applying walking/hiking incorrectly to your mom

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

I like that hiking advice!! And yes, half the reason I hate walking is that in the city it's often not possible to do it efficiently, ie you can't ever find yr stride in a crowd and the wasted energy aspect drives me CRAZY, then I'm all out of breath or wahtever from stop-starting for people or intersections, and trying to pass the tourists.

If you're hiking trails and you just need to travel distance, like when people actually TRAVELED on foot, the lope of maximum efficiency is a thing of beauty! However on really uneven ground I think there's a different kind of zen balance state achieved in which you try to merge w/ your terrain and find a rhythm that's unique to it, because you can't count on a heelstrike or a cadence of steps when it's all rocks or rolling sandstone or swamp or etc. Or Arrakis desert.

KIU my car not being stolen (see CIU).

I love you Corolla-dear. We've gone a long way together (130,000 miles) and I've slept in you at least two dozen nights, and you've forgiven me for all the liquids I've spilled in you, or incited my dates to spill on you, and you've never broken down on me. I love you more than I love a lot of people, even your old gold rustiness, your chuggy-noise in the morning, your missing hubcaps, your broken rear speakers. I know I don't treat you as well as I should, but when I get a little money, I promise I'll buy you new mats and a transmission that's a little more modern, maybe a new battery. But you're a special car, and I won't leave you as long as I can help it. I <3 you, babes.

I hate to see all these cracker motherfukas who don't know a gottdamn thing about about true hip-hop throwing their little two cents in. Go back and listen to your rock and head bang before real niggas back slap your cracker ass. Honkey motherfuckas all pyscho analyzing the shit.

Now to the topic at hand. I only have on gangstarr album and that is hard to earn. Motherfucking Premo needed to ditch that fucking no rap skills having ass nigga. In the beginning this bitch nigga Guru going say what he did to get on with his no skills having ass. Premos beats is ill as fuck and joints definitely have your fucking dome nodding. Fuck Dr.Dre cracker happy ass. Fuck timalands new cracker happy synthesizer beat boxing , fat country ass. Havoc and Premo are two greatest producers out there. Premo should have just did all beats for Nas and left guru.

EPMD is alright, my favorite shit is the "cross-over" cause they be carring those cracker ass rappers like third bass.

I want niggas to respond to this shit cause I know devils don't want to here the truth.

There is a giant mongo list of synaesthete musicians & composers. All I can remember right now is Olivier Messiaen who made a big point of it in his music and Roger McGuinn who didn't.

Sorry, don't feel anxious!

I have an excessively associative mentality myself but not where there are consistent correspondences between things. Not synaesthetic, just the walls between things and concepts are very permeable for me. One of the reasons I can't argue very well.

yeah i did some readings and i pretty clearly have a the tone/sound/music = texture/colour/feeling kind + some word/letter & shapes stuff + the personification kind (though it wld seem that is harder to clearly test as usual vs synesthesia)

i remember a while ago talking with a friend abt auras (not sure how we got on that) and how i was skeptical about it all re: me because i don't really see straight-up colours, which it wld seem is key - mostly i see/feel what at the time i called "weather"

We've got one of their bed frames too, it's v good. I'll also rep for that one cheapish chair they make, the recurve one with wooden arms and an L-shaped cushion in between.

Their dressers SUKK though and lean like mad.

The real hell, of course is going there.

This (Hurricane Chris) seems to lie a little more within the novelty rap category. The child-sampling nonsense poetry of the eponymous chorus is effectively counterbalanced by some fairly well-elocuted if sterile rapping in the verses. Again, efficiently done, but there's not much to get excited about here. As an unpleasant bonus, the backing track is simply appalling.

CIO emusic not rolling over credits from month to month, though

-- milo z, Monday, 20 August 2007 04:48 (44 minutes ago) Link

when did this start happening?

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 20 August 2007 05:33 (eighteen years ago)

I think it has always been the case hasnt it? I get 50 songs a month and if I dont use them they dont roll over, but then again I've always used mine all up so its not been an issue so far.

Trayce, Monday, 20 August 2007 05:59 (eighteen years ago)

my emusic subscription ran out about like 5 months ago so i haven't been using since then, but i remember credits rolling over. but then again, i remember them sending out some email saying that they were changing a bunch of their subscription packages/policies, so maybe that's what's up.
or i could be wrong about the rollover in general. idk.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 20 August 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

the cloud blustering video of kate bush and donold sutherland reveal more fibs...don is suppose to be six foot three...and kate is suppose to be five three....when she hugs him she is more then 12 inches shorter then he is...

it looks like much more then 12 inches...she is pretty much shorter then five foot three...which she claims that she is...she is about five one...or five feet...

if don sutherland is really telling the truth about his height.

you haven't answered me about why you feel prejudiced against tall artists and feel that they have less brains...and don't work as hard...

why do you feel that people who are below average in height etc....are deserving of fame?

2 hours + bunch of inveterate drunks = 30 pounds of bacon consumed, as confirmed by resident statistician/bartender. This does not include bacon involved in Bacon Mary drink special.

Grebtest game I watched lately. Haven't played it, cause, well, I suck at playing videogames. But damn it looks beautiful!

Yeah I watched the ex play the demo the other day and my, it looks gorgeous. Brilliant deco architecture, wonderful creepy Ayn Rand atmos, it looks great, the graphics are incredible. I suspect I wont see him for a week when the game comes out (tomorrow I think?)
