Bell Labs, 24, was found guilty in Superior Court of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the October 2005 murder of Billy Dewayne Carlton Jr. in Golden Valley.

Labs was also convicted of felony drive-by shooting and discharging a weapon at a residence in the July 15, 2005 shooting involving Carlton's brother, also in Golden Valley. Judge James Chaves will sentence her July 9.

who do you call people aspies when you yourself exhibit tons of aspergerian traits?

ian, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

Managing conflict: being unable to understand other points of view can lead to inflexibility and an inability to negotiate conflict resolution. Once the conflict is resolved, remorse may not be evident.

A sense of paranoia: because of their inability to connect, persons with Asperger's have trouble distinguishing the difference between the deliberate or accidental actions of others, which can in turn lead to a feeling of paranoia.

Making literal interpretation: AS individuals have trouble interpreting colloquialisms, sarcasm, and metaphors.

Reciprocal love and grief: since people with AS have difficulty emotionally, their expressions of affection and grief are often short and weak.

# Lack of embarrassment: although persons with AS have an intellectual understanding of shame and embarrassment, their ability to grasp the concept on an emotional level may be limited.

ian, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

# Clothing and personal hygiene: people with AS tend to be less affected by peer pressure than others. As a result, they often do what is comfortable and are unconcerned about their impact on others.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

# Financial imprudence: although some people with AS can manage their own finances, in many cases linear thinking impedes their ability to make larger financial decisions, where they require the assistance of others.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 19:59 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

there needs to be better street food in this city, why only have arepa vendors on special occasions?

i have tentative plans to go to red hook ballfield on sunday, mmm

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

i still haven't had street dosas, mostly because n@n(y talked about them all the time

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

if you go to the ballfields, you must get a spicy pork huarache. i like the arepas well enough, but to me the best part is the pickled cabbage stuff you get with them. there's so much amazing stuff to eat there that i think is more interesting.

lauren, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

you must get a spicy pork huarache

omg

dmr, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

ballfields just moved way up on my to do list

I heard about em two years ago but they're in freaking red hook

dmr, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

ok i will try the huarache for sure, thanks lauren!

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

I had cherry cornmeal pancakes in SF, mmmmmm. Worth 35-min wait.

pls to plan Noise ballfields expedition.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

i cannot emphasize the huarache thing enough. there are two stands that do them, both right as you walk in from the clinton/bay intersection. one will be immediately on your left, by the elotes (also superb), and the other will be on your left next to the fruit/agua fresca people. i think the latter is maybe a little better, but they're both amazing.

lauren, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

guys, i will go on noize food-related expeditions anytime (no vegans)

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

i'm dying to go back to the ballfields but am out of town this wkend. soon! also, there is a place in bensonhurst/new utrecht with the best dim sum i've ever had. i want to go their with a group, but no one will get up early enough to go with me (you have to get their by, like, 10.45).

lauren, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

river wolf, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

I read many of those ball field food stands come from places on 5th ave. Some of the mexican stuff on Roosevelt Ave in Jackson Heights advertise Hueraches or whatever, but haven't tried.

fwiw, this is definitely something i get from some of the skinny pretty chicks i've met---totally sexless. like, they're interesting to look at sometimes, but you get the feeling that they're totally cold in the sack.

river wolf, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

yet somehow they are always going home with boys!

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

I never notice this!

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, not all pretty skinny girls, mind. just the ones that have been most fucked in the head by what girls are supposed to look like or whatever. like, they're worried about what you think of their bodies WHILE YOU'RE HAVING SEX. srsly?? the die is cast at that point, ladies, chill.

actually, this might be limited primarily to american white girls: euros/latins/everyone else don't seem to have this problem.

river wolf, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

dan, a few of the ballfield people have or had restaurants in sunset park. i don't think the majority do, though.

lauren, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

they're worried about what you think of their bodies

I slept with this girl who was all "DO YOU LIKE MY BIG TITS?!?!?!?!" the whole time.

AWFUL. Also, not thin

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

HOMESPUN WISDOM BULLSHIT, GUYS

my opinions might be tainted by the fact that the only pretty skinny girls i've seen lately are all fratty/conservative blonde chicks from, like, Helena, whose sexual experiences are probably limited to getting tagged by a football player at a party and hating themselves for it or something

(note: this is probably not very true at all, but whatever)

river wolf, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

the skinny chicks in headbands thing was directly inspired by this girl: http://bp0.blogger.com/_6UzdmF8O-Oo/Rm-dx7aQ4pI/AAAAAAAABpo/FD-NFOkQEXk/s1600-h/R0047185.jpg
i have nothing against the very pretty, but that outfit makes her so unappealing!

to me anyways. but i'm a straight chick so what do i know?

also lobsters are great of course. i only eat them when i visit my parents though because they are much cheaper in maine, and best eaten outside on a porch while being bitten by mosquitos. with corn on the cob.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

how do you think that's any worse than dudes who are like 'do you like my big cock??!?!??!' the whole time?
xp

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

i should probably stop offering my opinions on what's actually happening in ladies' heads because there's a decent chance that i'm totally wrong and offensive.

xp uh, those are pretty much the same thing, trza. that is to say: awful

river wolf, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

which, i might add, applies to all guys - not just fat or skinny ones.

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

now lobster brain (or lobster "butter" in polite parlance) on the other hand, is incredibly delicious.
