rrrobyn, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

is that at a dam?

rrrobyn, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:19 (seventeen years ago)

Thing: The Glory Hole
Abstract:The Glory hole is a non- regulated spillway, which is located about 200 feet behind the dam. The outside diameter of the Glory hole is 72 feet. The hole in the center tapers down to no less than 28 feet. The distance from the crest (top edge), to the exit point which is situated in the south side of the canyon, is about 700 feet. The crest of the Glory hole, sits 16 feet lower than the crest of the dam. When and if the water level of the lake rises to 15 1/2 feet over the top of the Glory hole (its maximum design), it will release 48,400 cubic feet per second, or in layman’s terms, 362,000 gallons every
1 second !

gr8080, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

the other kind of glory hole wouldn't be too difficult to pull off.

Hi, Jon, first of all there are a hundred hundred second-hand shops in this city and esp in the boroughs many are not expensive. Also if you really want, you can take the train (NJT, for instance) out to places in towns that you can get to without a car.

Laurel, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

I am v fond of the SA in Passaic, NJ on Broadway (at VanHouten Ave). You take the Main Line out of Hoboken and walk from the train station. I've gotten the best, best stuff there. Actually maybe I'll go soon with my BIKE, that'll be even easier.

Also discovered -- well, "discovered" a totally insane furniture warehouse in Paterson, NJ on the same trip. It turns out other cities have buses, too!!

Laurel, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

no but im honestly surprised that you wouldnt go there to try to find a cheap smoking jacket.

is the party off Dan?
Between 100 and 220 people living in an old warehouse in Ridgewood converted to hipster lofts got the boot yesterday when the city shut the building down and evicted everyone because of conditions "imminently perilous to life." The lofts are on the second and third floor of a building on Troutman Street in Ridgewood. Word among the residents was that the evictions were because of (a). the illegal conversion, (b). the busted fire sprinklers or (c). the collapsing roof. All of which are little glitches in lofts that go from $1,200 to $3,500 a month and have 25-foot ceilings, wall-to-wall windows and views of the city. Someone apparently tried to "sabotage the evictions" by slipping notes under the doors telling everyone to get out or hide before the inspectors showed up. Seriously.

mizzell, Friday, 19 October 2007 15:35 (seventeen years ago)

funny you saw that. Got it emailed to me this morning and am waiting to find out. If we have to we'll move it. I'd love to do it in a loft, those are always so much more fun, but there's always smaller places in the WB that are friendly to us. We're open to any suggestions should this definitely be a no-go.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 19 October 2007 16:34 (seventeen years ago)

ok, we're definitely not doing it there. We have like a day or two to hustle to find a replacement. Any suggestions? We have a few ideas but are open...we can bring the bar if needed, we can bring the sound if needed, just looking for a space, but bars/clubs etc would be fine. What do you think?

One year in college I went as Charlie Brown in his fucked-up ghost costume. Most of the African Americans at the party thought that I was being some kind of Klansman. Lost that costume double fast.

Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 20 October 2007 02:51 (seventeen years ago)

due to unfortunate and unforseen events, we've had to move the Haunted Disco party to a new spot, luckily we got one of my favorites. The awesome back room at Union Pool. So without further ado...

Come to the Haunted Disco! The ghost of Dan Selzer, Jeremy Campbell's re-animated corpse and Matt Radune's posessed body DJ at the haunted disco, aka the back room of Union Pool. Scary costumes recommended...Velvet Vampire? Xanadu Zombie? Leisure Suit Lycanthrope? Studio 54 Slasher? George Hamilton in Love at First Bite? Pretty Scary!

This is our third annual halloween party/birthday party for my favorite person ever Nicole. You may remember Wild Kingdom at M Shanghai last year, or Disco in Space at Capones 2 years ago. You may not because you were too drunk. Whatever, this will be a lot of fun. A nice space and good music and great DJs and stupid costumes. what more do you want? Please spread the word and tell friends so people know not to go to the previous location and that this is where the fun will be.

Saturday October 27th 10pm
Union Pool Back Room
484 Union Ave and Meeker, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Take the L train to Lorimer or the G to Metropolitan.
