i just bought a steel drum band record for $5. it is not very gloomy, though. but it has a great lo-fi one room mic kinda feel.

what steelband? i love those things, i don't know why. i've got multiple esso, trinidadian, and when i was in the midwest got something called the flambeaux steelband with wicked santana "evil ways" cover.

the skip was actually on the cut before minimal man, i think? or after, i dunno. i thought minimal man played through okay.

jon, we were talking about the sample sources for the quiet village record and i said i had like 4 of them w/o knowing i had them and sanskrit or someone said "they're calling from in your house" and i put the david mcwilliams version of pearly spencer on my site and wintermute (what the hell is yr real name because i can't type that moon thingy) posted the disco version that was actually sampled.
