sad little christmas orange

Mr. Que, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago)

SAD? THERE IS NOTHING SAD ABOUT THE CLEMENTINE.
It might be the best stoner snack evar.

ian, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

they made me sad for awhile when i saw them for some reason, but i love them now.

Mr. Que, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

i love clementines because they make your fingers smell good for the rest of the day

max, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

the only hazard of clementines is not eating the whole crate before they become sickly lumps of mold

elmo argonaut, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago)

just eat them all at once (thats what i do)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

in the NW, we call em SATSUMAS.
They come wrapped in COPYRIGHT NOTICE.

sexyDancer, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

they are too expensive now ;_;

mookieproof, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

i believe satsumas and clementines are both varieties of mandarins.

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

mutants, even

sexyDancer, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

those look crazy!!

rrrobyn, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

i call clementines mandarin oranges (westcoast thing i guess?)
and i think they taste different and also have fewer seeds
at any rate, i have eaten zero so far but will eat more than zero over christmas holidays yaaay

rrrobyn, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:46 (seventeen years ago)

i think i've seen mangosteens before but had no idea what they were! am totally going to buy now

rrrobyn, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

big MANGO aka the steen

max, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

robyn you live in canada - track some of those down - wikipedia says you can find them in chinatowns

theyre like a cross between a clementine and a cloud - with a purple cardboard peel

not allowed in usa due to pests :(

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

i ate like 1m of them when i was in sea

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

what do they taste like????

elmo argonaut, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

the flavor and texture is just the most delicate tender version of citrus imaginable. clementines are brutish in comparison.

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

anyway i just ate 2 more clementines so: 6

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:01 (seventeen years ago)

For the period since 2006 to present, private small volume orders from fruits grown on Puerto Rico are being filled for American gourmet restaurants who serve the aril pieces as a delicacy dessert. [12] Beginning in 2007 for the first time, fresh mangosteens are also being sold for as high as $45 per pound from specialty produce stores in New York City

mizzell, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

two. satsumas

jergïns, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago)

The clementine is not always distinguished from other varieties of mandarin: in German, it is generally referred to as "Mandarine" and in Japanese, mikan. However, it should not be confused with similar fruit such as the satsuma, another popular variety.

mizzell, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:05 (seventeen years ago)

wikipedia be schoolin.

mizzell, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:12 (seventeen years ago)

in the NW, we call em SATSUMAS.
They come wrapped in COPYRIGHT NOTICE.

Clementines != satsumas. Satsumas are the king of fruits. I have eaten 0 clementines in 2008. I have comfortably eaten 500+ satsumas. Daily intake increases further in the run-up to Christmas.

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

How to recognize

satusma: smooth, baggy skin, tastes like a million virgins are showering you with lotus blossoms

clementine: dimpled, tight skin, tastes like cheap cologne and fried chicken

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

500+ future eaten satsumas whoa

rrrobyn, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

Britain is one year ahead.

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

Also I have had two beers and am writing paper for publication in 2008 and my mind is weeping.

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:23 (seventeen years ago)

clementines are better tho

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

i have only eaten half a v small apple, 4 fresh dates and a v small tomato, fruitwise, and i don't even call tomatoes fruit so that doesn't really count
i gotta up my game
for 2008

rrrobyn, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

I may start satsumas.xls for 2008.

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

actually that is retarded

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

I clipped about 60 satsumas from my aunt jewell's tree last week
shook down about three dozen pecans, too
and held a grasshopper in my hand who was as long as my index finger

El Tomboto, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:37 (seventeen years ago)

wow, can I visit?

caek, Monday, 26 November 2007 22:42 (seventeen years ago)

homosexual II, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 03:28 (seventeen years ago)

they sell mangosteen powder at the veg market across the street from me. i'm sure this is -9874398w74645 times as good as the real thing

bell_labs, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 03:30 (seventeen years ago)

ch0wh0und has some mangosteen obsessives. they occasionally post alert threads to let others know that smuggled fruits are available in chinatown somewhere. if you really want them, it would probably be worth checking searching the manhattan board during mangosteen season.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:22 (seventeen years ago)

ok thx 4 the tip!

ceka - challenge accepted!

clementine total today: 0

iatee, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

I have noticed the year-round clementine bullshit. We started buying them in the middle of summer and the were cheap and plentiful and fucking good. After a month though, Safeway was trying to pass off these bruised, bitter fruits for like $9 a box. Someone made a stupid deal somewhere along the line.

Anyway, I checked the clementines yesterday. The fruits looked better, but there were only a few of them rattling around in the box, once again for $9. It wasn't so long ago boxes of clementines were so full that one or two fruits would dislodge themselves from the netting and roll around on the floor of your car on the way home from the grocery store. R.I.P. America.
