Ha ... we have two cats, one is typically the more aggressive one and the other one is very passive and nervous all the time. But one time a friend brought his pug over to our apartment; the aggressive one just hid under the bed the whole time, while the passive one was going all crazy with like hissing and sideways pouncing, it was awesome.

the first time I saw a photo of a tabby exotic (this was about 2 minutes ago), the skeptic in me was like, "not in my universe, maybe a parallel one," but it turns out this is a thing that really exists. x-posts Yeah see I really want to become completely fluent in German but I am starting to think that it would be in my best interest to relearn Spanish (I took it for 8 years but haven't spoken in forever) since a lot of the kids I'm going to be working with are native speakers. At this point I understand certain Spanish words, phrases and bits of stuff but that's about it. I'm hoping I'll pick it up quickly though since I was once pretty good. I think German is going to be put on the back burner for now.

I took 4 years of German in high school and 1 in frosh year of college, but I mostly only remember the names of sports and sausages. I wish I were an infant again so I could pick up Spanish with little discernible effort, but I'm afraid my brane isn't spongelike enough anymore, so I'll stick to good ol' babelfish for all my translational needs until I learn to be less lazy.

haha. my brain is really good at languages but i have squandered my talents on other things. i took 5 years of spanish, 4 years of latin, and 1 year of french in hs (like i used all the time i could have filled with study hall and pottery on taking languages for fun???) and i took a small amt of russian in undergrad but i still know only *one* language, which is so stupid. i am a jack of all trades and a master of none lol

Harbl I'm the same. I took spanish for seven or eight, latin for four and German for 3 but yet am fluent in only English. Languages sorta come naturally to me but it gets harder as I get older.
My Dad is from Germany and my mom is American but fluent but for whatever reason they didn't raise me bilingually which I am really mad at them for. Any German I picked up as a kid was just from listening to my parents and their friends speak and visiting with relatives. If I could spend a month there I'm pretty sure I'd be fluent but at this point what I really need is a reg conversational partner. Unreg - sports and sausages are pretty important to Germans though. My uncle would <3 you.
Like I said though it looks like I'm going to have to concentrate on Spanish for now if I get my lazy ass in gear and find the time.
