feeling mad guilty tbh

ian seemed well. i didnt talk to him long. he looks better than he has in the past (bloated phase)

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:20 (sixteen years ago)

That's understandable. It's an existential issue!

For me, I think I want someone I really like and have fun with around so that I don't get bored, because bored = depressed = et cetera.

But it can be so hard to find someone right! Because it's not just about having fun, it's also about staying together and all this relationship stuff.

And you don't even know if you're supposed to find someone right, if it's worth the bother, if it's just a scam, &c.

It sounded like a real heavy relationship, anyway. And you being prone to, you know, sadness sometimes, maybe you don't need that.

The problem is, if you date some dude who's free and easy, he may be too free and easy and therefore insensitive. But if you date a sensitive dude, you get some guy who's bummed and bumming you out!

So you've got to strike a balance. Just like you've got to strike a balance between interesting and too interesting.

The guilt! Yeah. He's probably a really nice guy and taking it tough. It's okay, though - sooner is better.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

i dont know, hes being kind of a huge asshole actually

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:26 (sixteen years ago)

Before or after?

Well, it's no excuse. I'd say that rejection has it's defense mechanisms, but dude can at least have the sense to be a sadsack instead of an asshat.

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:36 (sixteen years ago)

Yes! Man!

So when I broke up with Susie? I I I I felt hurt. I went crazy. I was the one who felt rejected.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:37 (sixteen years ago)

And when she hung out with some people I would get jealous. I felt sexually inadequate!

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:37 (sixteen years ago)

thats CRAZY we're all CRAZY!!!

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:38 (sixteen years ago)

But it's better now. But guys are crazy? Yes. And girls, sure. And when you're rejected, it's the worst.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:38 (sixteen years ago)

Totally! Did you know that it's been shown scientifically that your attachment to someone increases after they reject you?

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:39 (sixteen years ago)

i believe it

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:39 (sixteen years ago)

But anyway, it's okay. I mean, Susie and I are okay. We're even talking about post relationship stuff, like crushes and stuff.

That crush I mentioned by text, by the way? Pffffffft. Big pfffft.

But it's healthy - I don't want you to get the wrong idea that we're diving into Jealousville.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:41 (sixteen years ago)

And if romance is really something you kind of believe in . . . don't worry too much about it. Have to be enough stand-up dudes out there.

haha, i feel u

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:41 (sixteen years ago)

i had that happen where some guy broke up with me (like beat me to the punch tbh) and then would get jealous if i flirted with other dudes?

wait this has happened more than once actually. one guy would give me shit about like, every guy i ever went out with after him.

tehresa, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:42 (sixteen years ago)

What I'm picturing? For you? Corcoise with some tweaks. Some emotional/sensitivity tweaks. Is that out of line? Maybe I didn't know him well enough, but that's who I think of when I think of Emily's boyfriend.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:42 (sixteen years ago)

Well, Tehresa, in the case of me and Susie, she had already bailed emotionally because she freaked out - she has this three month freak out pattern - and she wasn't being affectionate so I was already devestated and heartbroken when "I broke up with her." But she doesn't really know about the irrational jealousy - I kept it to myself. I mean, she might have an inkling, but I'm not generally a jealous person. I never minded when she hung out with some dude who had a crush on her, for instance. In fact, sometimes I just thought it was kind of sweet. My heart goes out for lonely people, I guess.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:44 (sixteen years ago)

Anyway, Em, hugs hugs hugs.

bamcquern, Thursday, 2 July 2009 22:45 (sixteen years ago)

Corcoise would need a lot of sensitivity tweaks to be ideal or even workable imo. It occurs to me that maybe I'm not 100% over his stupid ass

I'm guessing that recumbent is lying down. But idalol?

bryce, today me and dunlap (did u ever meet her) went to where the job corps murder happened on the ag campus and found what i would like to dub A CLUE, i.e. in the very old part of the cracking cement, a very old graffito reading "PIKE", the killer's last name. we read the trashy book about the killing and walked the steps from the old job corps (now volunteer studios, a pretty creepy place in itself) to the site. all of ut and fort sanders looks creepy and wrong now. dunlap agreed, when we drove past it on the interstate. i used to look at the ut area and think about m compton, then i looked at it and thought about sean, now i will think of a brick repeatedly to the head

*hands imitating scales*

No, I never met Dunlap. Unless she has a first name I don't know about. Even so, I probably would hardly remember her.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:04 (sixteen years ago)

her first name is my name too

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:05 (sixteen years ago)

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:05 (sixteen years ago)

I want to say, "You mean she's hilarious?" but you and Heather are different enough.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:07 (sixteen years ago)

I shouldn't be up, but I'm waiting on a phone call _and_ an email.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)

hilarious, but also rude

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:10 (sixteen years ago)

What annoying things does ilx do for you? For me, it doesn't jump to the end enough. It will render a page in the middle, which is annoying. It also effs up with Google Chrome, making it so that I have to open another browser to post sometimes. That I blame on Chrome, mostly. I downloaded a program just for moving my bookmarks to another browser. I sort of hope it moves my history, too, because I like being able to type in part of an address that I'm not sure about and have the browser remember.

Okay, hilarious and rude. Kelly = not really rude. The one thing that all the Robinson sisters have in common is not getting the wolf shirt that everyone else seems to get (at least partly get).

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:12 (sixteen years ago)

I love having the browser remember stuff! Only now that I finally have my own computer, though.

You're right about us! Kelly is not rude, but can be cutting. Usually never to someone's face, though, and if so they are in our family and can deal with it. Heather is the most outright rude, but most people love it. I am somewhere in between (best of both worlds, imo). Yes, what is with that wolf shirt?!!?!?!

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:15 (sixteen years ago)

I won't go into the wolf shirt. Okay okay. I went to a party and this is a discussion a couple of people had:

"I like your shirt."
"Yeah, cool shirt."
"It's like, uh, he's asking you to dance. And anybody who saw it would say, 'Yeah, of course I wanna dance.' "
"But he's, like, sinister."
"Yeah, he wants you to dance, but he's all like, 'I'm going to ravish you.' "

Okay, they were part way there at least. It was a funny exchange.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:19 (sixteen years ago)

This was Saturday.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:20 (sixteen years ago)

ok i think im starting to get the shirt, i still dont understand what its specifically referencing

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:21 (sixteen years ago)

maybe nothing?!

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:21 (sixteen years ago)

It's not a non sequitur. It's very literal, in a way. He's a wolf, and therefore wolfish - a sexual predator. His inviting someone to dance, maybe Little Red Riding Hood or some other girlish character, is a guileful opening, intending to be seductive, but blatantly not to the person looking at the shirt who just sees a wolf and knows what that represents.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:23 (sixteen years ago)

yeah sexual predators are hilarious!!!!

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:30 (sixteen years ago)

Sarcasm? First, all kinds of things are hilarious - the scary and taboo underlies why we laugh a lot of the time in the first place. Second, it's the set-up that makes it funny - the rigging of the whole thing that creates an off-kilter or dissonant message. In this case, the wolf is rendered with conflicting signs: it's realistic and at the same time sort of anthropomorphized, and it has exaggerated saliva coming out. It's just hints at being a cartoon illustration. Second, the lettering of "Wanna dance?" is chunky and friendly and boisterous and exaggerated. The letters paired with their friendly message draw up the contrast between them and the predatory nature of the wolf, the image of which has been toned down itself. It's a Alexander Calder-ish (Rube Goldberg-ish?) balance of parts that creates the humor.

Except when people get it, the just get it right way. They wouldn't explain it like that.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:36 (sixteen years ago)

mayeb ppl laugh because it is unlike you to wear a shirt touting a sexual predator

gucci gone bonkers (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 05:37 (sixteen years ago)

Well. These people at the party didn't know me. Most people who comment on it don't know me, just because most people don't know me and those who do just get one vote about the shirt like everyone else. Vote. What a weird sentence.

Anyway, I don't think it advocates predatory behavior. I think it is, horror, at heart an ironic statement.

There's a guy who sits behind me, by the way - on nearly a related note - who gets a laugh out of the class every time he makes a vaguely (or not vaguely) misogynistic comment.

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:50 (sixteen years ago)

Guess what? Do you think it will work, y / n: I am going to try a personality overhaul.

Do you think I am different than when you met me? Different than just two years ago? I think I can change internally by practicing and reinforcing certain habits, ways of seeing and ways of expressing.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:51 (sixteen years ago)

yes i think you are different, but not drastically. ive noticed subtle things, for sure. most notably since you moved away, but also before that a little ways. sensitivity things. empathy things.

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:52 (sixteen years ago)

Although I am not going to get out of the house and so I'm not going to start tonight. Although maybe I sort of already started because I took a bike ride to Oviedo and later in my bare feet I kicked warm water around on a red brick street downtown while it rained a lot all over me. But I still need new ways of seeing and new ways of expressing. I can't simply see new things.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:53 (sixteen years ago)

btw, sea world: c/d

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

Well, I need to get back my sense of humor. Right now it is too situational. And I think in some ways I was more creative three years ago, although now I'm smarter. I don't want to have to balance it out!

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

when you come back to knox your sense of humor will return, in the form of joseph and me

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:55 (sixteen years ago)

OKAY, Sea World . . . I am pro-aquariums. That is the answer. And Sea World is too expensive just for an aquarium. I could just go to Chattanooga if I were in Knoxville and pay way less and kick it way more.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:55 (sixteen years ago)

You mean you and Joseph are like my conscience except you're my laugh factory or what? It's so boring here. Especially especially especially in the burbs.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:55 (sixteen years ago)

I went to Sea World once and I remember almost feeling sorry for my mom for taking us there, and therefore determined to have a good time. I cannot lie, the aquariums were cool, but I also remember walking around these pathways with tall smooth colorless walls that were rounded on top like some giant kid made them of clay, and I remember seeing Shamu and the dolphins and seals was kind of boring.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:57 (sixteen years ago)

we are your laugh factory, yes, that is exactly what i am saying

downloading chestnutt right now

how expensive IS sea world? i want to see a killer whale. i was obsessed with sea world as a kid -- it would be nice to go, for my inner child.

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:58 (sixteen years ago)

what a sweet kid you were!!

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:58 (sixteen years ago)

But I think I am against theme parks mostly besides water parks because the way they help indoctrinate our kids. And that smaller attractions can be more fun, anyway - a go kart track or mini-golf course or one of those water slides on the side of a hill coming off a state road.

Well, if you come in the next two or three years I'll take you! I'm sure it's not THAT expensive.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't tell you. Susie is sort of planning to move here in the winter, or possibly late fall at the earliest. It is a weird situation, but maybe tolerable.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:01 (sixteen years ago)

hm, i wonder how that will affect things?

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)

The reason I bring this up about changing my personality is mostly my bland didacticism. It doesn't indicate any unique worldview and I hate it. In a way, it's not even me, because when I speak to Thomas whatever it really is becomes this really sharp tool in a dialog. But with someone who may not be very learned about whatever the subject is, it starts to bore me no matter how nice and tolerant and "no, I like talking to you" they are.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:03 (sixteen years ago)

Well, Susie and I have talked about his, obviously. Answer: we don't know. I mean, it's sort of been decided to see other people until then. Except we might hurt each other's feelings doing that.

With her being here, she seems to be certain and I strongly suspect that it will be a very good thing.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:04 (sixteen years ago)

"seeing other people, at least that's what we say we are doing."

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:05 (sixteen years ago)

wait i thought you were broken up anyways

ive often wondered about the didacticism, if it was reaaaallllly sincere. especially since the time that you said that about the beatles and not drinking

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:06 (sixteen years ago)

You know that conversation we had about my t-shirt? I think a lot of that has to do with how often I get to laugh and tell jokes in my day to day life. There isn't enough danger and taboo and strangeness and fear to get the laughs out of me.

We are broken up, but what do you think about loving someone enough anyway to move to some shithole town 3000 miles away?

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)

What do you mean really sincere? You mean I would fake it? Gosh, who would dare and for what purpose?!

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)

i think its weird

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)

well i just remember this time you were in some kind of mood and you were like "you know why i dont like the beatles? the same reason i wont drink. no reason, no reason at all" and threw a piece of paper or something

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)

haha that makes it sound so dramatic

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)

A couple of nights ago we had a conversation and that was when it was established that we weren't going to be official during the intervening time. Later on before we were getting off the phone I ruminated further on how complicated everything was going to be and she said, "Wait, are you breaking up with me AGAIN?" It's mixed up like that.

About Beatles: that's true in a way, but also it's a way of trying to be funny. Didactic - I mean reading a book or having some thoughts and then just saying what I think and then finishing and realizing that the only reaction is, "Uh-huh." I want to say things that make people want to say things! And many things that I want to say are only fit for Thomas or someone else in particular. Of course, most everything I say I say to Susie.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)

"only fit for thomas"

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)

yeah why do you do this, when you broke up with me its like we dated for another year after that or something, its very confusing and hard on ppl tbh, you should just make a clean break in some way

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

or, you know, commit

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

He's just got this mindset and all of this crazy knowledge! It brings out the best in me intellectually. There's no foundering or grinding against nothing at all or other cognitive unpleasantness.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)

You never talked to me about it! I mean, I was probably in love with you still and that's why I was so susceptible to hurt during that March-June whenever time period.

But I AM in love with Susie and never stopped. There is no not committing or playing around or anything. She sort of fucked up and now she's regretting it and seeing me being myself again, so her reaction is, "Oh, I want to be with you." You know, instead of me being a saddo. Except we can't and we're not willing to do this fucked up long distance thing again.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:15 (sixteen years ago)

She says she's moving and we'll be bf/gf if she does.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:16 (sixteen years ago)

But also during that time with you and me . . . I dunno. I'm sorry even though you don't care anymore. I didn't know if you were upset or what. You didn't talk about your feelings. I was pretty devoted for being an ex-boyfriend.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:18 (sixteen years ago)

Cognitive unpleasantness - sometimes the grinding feeling just makes me dumb - not feel dumb, but be dumb.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:19 (sixteen years ago)

yeah its not that big of a deal its just like...why do you dump someone if youre in love with them? ESPECIALLY if you just keep things the same afterward

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:19 (sixteen years ago)

Do thoughts of how best to operate in existence occupy your mind often or do you just figure out the best ways to do it semi-consciously?

Well, with Susie I did it to save myself, and to shock her into recognizing what she was doing. I think both ultimately came about, even if I got really fucked up on depression.

With us, I think I was convinced that it wasn't going to work out, and I was also extremely stressed out from my illness. Plus you were extremely stressed out from my illness. And . . . I can't remember if the drugs thing came before or after. I used to think about it. Drugs and a lot of alcohol use are pretty much the only things that creep me to some other place, that make me really unrealistic about a person. I mean, one time you were drunk and really passionate and I thought it was great, except I didn't really wish you were drunk and wished you hadn't smoked so much that night, and so I couldn't keep my mind on what I was doing at all. But that's not really related to the drugs thing. I'm just completely prejudiced against them.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:25 (sixteen years ago)

I dunno. I was not a good boyfriend/fake boyfriend to you in many ways.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:26 (sixteen years ago)

I did not always give you my all, and think about that sometimes.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:26 (sixteen years ago)

yeah you always acted like you thought i was an alcoholic or something, and i thought you were probably way off base with that

and drugs, i mean i smoked weed probably twice during that time. haha yeah it probably was not going to work out! i smoke more weed than ever now, though i drink way less

its all water under the bridge now, though

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:29 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah. Well, it was the cocaine allusions, not the weed. The weed I am not as wary about.

I am going to miss getting to Publix! I will have to make due with what I have, but I'm out of mushrooms and everything! Maybe I'll go to Wal-Mart.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:30 (sixteen years ago)

allusions are allusions, but a fig newton is fruit and cake

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:31 (sixteen years ago)

But there are still all of these weird unshakable implications in my head that get fired off over weed and even alcohol. Just different social aspects of them, I'm sure, but a lot of it goes unnamed.

You know how there's all this shit in your brain, like almost all of it, that doesn't have words to name it? Like that.

But weird social implications, like this suggestions that I don't share a great deal socially with the "user."

Shit. I'm going to Publix! Pants ON!

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:32 (sixteen years ago)

wtf fig newton will think about that in car (bike light shorted last night and almost got hit by semi!)

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 01:32 (sixteen years ago)

Obviously any communication problems we have have everything to do with willingness and personality and nothing to do with smarts. Not only are you smarter than me in about a dozen different ways, but you're often better educated too.

Speaking of better educated, I wish you could tell me what was going on with the tunings and harmonics of this merengue album I bought.

I bet you know exactly what I got at Publix.

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 02:06 (sixteen years ago)

But wouldn't I be Chandler?

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 02:08 (sixteen years ago)

blobfish russian (harbl), Saturday, 25 July 2009 02:09 (sixteen years ago)

haha remember how much you hated buster in AD, and then thought tobias was the straight man? you really cnofused me that day

whatd you get, juice and yogurt? pretzels? goldfish? sunscreen? a cookie?

dont blaze me dro (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 July 2009 02:11 (sixteen years ago)

Well . . . I thought the whole point of Chandler is that he's neurotic, uptight, obsessive and not the good-looking one. Whatever, I don't mind being Ross. (Or bamcquern or whatev!)

Practically all of that stuff from the store. Wait, who is Tobias? And I hate Buster's character, or hate him as if I were imagining knowing him in real life?

bamcquern, Saturday, 25 July 2009 02:13 (sixteen years ago)

knowing him in real life

this was after i compared you to him, haw

So does anyone else say goodbye on ilx or just me? I think just me. But goodbye, anyway, at least for a while.
