order baker's in a bar last week and was so good, which is why i bought the bottle tonight. it's really really good but now i'm not sure if this is in fact what i had at the bar last week. maybe she gave me booker's instead -- sounds similar & both beam brand. but the bourbon i had at the bar tasted a LOT hotter than this, a lot more alchohol (booker's is like 120 proof). had that cool numbing effect on the tip of your tongue. the baker's i have now is really tasty but doesn't quite have that heat (is 107 proof)

did not buy a bottle!!!! too busy!!! hopefully somewhere will be open on my way home. at least, i will have a drink at the bar on the way home. i think the bartendress who gives me free drinx is workin.

I felt very virtuous - my friend asked if I wanted another drink, and I said no, because we had walked to the bar, and there were a bunch of steep hills in between her place and the bar, and if I'd had another drink, I probably would have puked.

xp - my cousin made a pumpkin + knob creek pie for Thanksgiving. It was amazingly awesome.

it was kinda a sad Thanksgiving because both me and two of my cousins (including the one who made the bourbon pie) have recently broken up w/boyfriends. We totally bonded though.

oh god that stuff does suck ass, last year when i broke up with OG "thread to get up with a breakup" i had to go to an xmas party with the girls i work with, and it was sooo crappy. im sure its worse with family stuff surrounding you too.

no, it was actually nice, because there were three of us in the same position, everyone was really considerate and sympathetic. Plus, we could share stories - like how I barely cried sorting the movies, but started bawling when I started sorting the books, and how we sorted stuff together. My cousin took an inventory of the shared stuff and emailed her ex a list of everything with "mine" and "yours" next to each item, and asked him to email her if he disagreed with anything.

that does sound helpful actually. im glad that, all told, it was a (relatively) good experience for you.

yeah - probably best thanksgiving in quite a while, actually.

I was out of town for Thanksgiving and just got back today, but I'd like to say that I spent pretty much all of Saturday taste testing/comparing Zombie recipes, including the Don the Beachcomber 1934 original, a D.Beachcomber 1956 revision, Trader Vic's Zombie-esque Q.B.

I had my local bar making these over the summer so much that they added them to the drink menu. Their recipe is not exactly accurate or amazingly good, but it made for a lovely summer drink. I am going with Black Russians for my winter drink of choice.

1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz sugar syrup
1 ounce 151 demerara rum

Well, the thing is that I doubled it, and didn't have QUITE the right amount of lime juice - my one remaining lime was not up to the task, I was a little short. And I also added in a 1/2 oz of Grand Marnier because I am a lush. But overall it was pretty tasty! :)
