yeah, my contribution to this thread was gonna be "all post-snes squaresoft games". i remember that final fantasy x came out when i was in tenth grade (appropriately enough) and i was pretty excited about it. but even then, when i was barely capable of dressing myself every day, something like this made me completely apoplectic:

I don't think that the proportions are really the issue here. The last one just looks like a really tasteless dominatrix with her feather boa and her fishbowl platform thigh-highs, but the first two are from some other universe of tacky bizarritude. Well, the first one wouldn't be that bad off if she ditched the dopey mask and the giraffe patterns, but the second design is just pure crap! They paid someone to come up with that?

I liked Raz's outfit, with the scarf, backpack, leather jacket, helmet & goggles. i thought was a little grotesque, sure, but without his helmet on(during the final cutscene), he's wearing a turtleneck and the combo of clothing + hairstyle makes him look like Ian Curtis.

Also, as many said, it's a shame that they didn't use Lili more in the ads, especially getting the game into Hot Topic more:

Sonic is supposed to speed around in verdant landscapes (alternatively: futuristic urban complexes) collecting coins and saving woodland creatures from robot enslavement. Yeah Shadow is ridiculous in the context of his franchise antecedents but since echidnas and hedgehogs as heroic racing warriors in a war with rube goldberg's robot army is pretty LSD to start with I don't think you can just say flat out that Shadow is "over the top" or something. Dan so OTM, but unfortunately Shadow the Hedgehog is rendered unplayable by low framerate and nasty controls. Had he been in a fast 2D Sonic game I'd probably love him.

The great thing about Voldo was the amount of imaginative filling-in you got to do with him. He was ... Italian? Some sort of gentry, maybe? Some rotten mummylike nobleman who's been lurking in a wine cellar since the 18th century, just waiting for a chance to come out and ever-so-gently tiptoe -- tip-finger -- over that uppity French girl Sophitia with his Kruegeresque spike-hands? His whole spiderlike movement deal was a lot of fun.

I mean, I don't really care what she does or doesn't do, and I'm sure I find it as weird as the next guy that her upper body is gonna be all dry and fuzzy-warm while her skinny little legs freeze in whatever rain originally prompted the coat, but still.
