I'll never forget when I was playing Half Life 2 for the first time and Alyx is getting all mushy on me in the elevator for coming to save both her and her dad. The character actions seemed so real I actually felt the same way I would in real life, that is to say: "Oh my God, a girl, being nice.... LOOK AWAY!" It took me a second to realize I didn't need to move my mouse to look away since it was a game. This is what I'd like to see further developed in my games.

the invisible enemies solidified it for me; they turn the game from a "Holy shit, this game is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and it has an ass-ton of cool-ass weapons" experience into a "okay, I have to learn PRECISELY WHEN to press the melee button to kill the scripted invisible one-hit-kill enemy" experience which quickly transferred over to the scripting of every other enemy I encountered. I have absolutely zero time for games which fundamentally serve as training games for themselves. I'd much rather just jack off.

Why don't you try using C++, creating the game world, updating the game loop, creating classes for the enemies, weapons, etc, calculating the physics of what it takes to move the character, putting in collision detection, including AI behaviors such as cohesion, flocking, path finding, a finite state machine, and whole bunch of other shit that I can't even mention because I don't fucking know everything about what they put in there but I damn well know those are the basics. Then again, I probably just wasted some more energy in my fingers telling you guys that because once again, 99 percent of you probably went "what the hell does any of that mean?" Point being, I hate all of you. Especially the commentators on this page. All of you are the reason why the series has started to suck, if it even has started to do so in the first place.
