latest wii news : metroid in august, battalion wars in sept, geometry wars announced. excited!
― zappi, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 07:37 (eighteen years ago)
Any news on a rechargable battery pack yet (or is there a third party one)? I've not played mine in over a week because every AA in the house is run down to the point of only working in remote controls, not of the Nintendo variety. I should invest in rechargables and a charger, really.
― melton mowbray, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 11:56 (eighteen years ago)
The most annoying thing, of course, is I can't play VC or Gamecube games either, because you need to press A on a wiimote when the console boots up!
― melton mowbray, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 11:57 (eighteen years ago)
just get some rechargeable batteries - they're quite cheap.
― zappi, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)
And a charger! I'm pretty sure the one we've got here has probably had it.

STILL NOT ON AMAZONG! http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0009VXBAQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_olp_1/002-0198138-2066423?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1183699966&sr=8-1 Kororinpa, btw, is mega-awesome.
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 6 July 2007 05:33 (eighteen years ago)
im going to win one via coke rewards. i may have no stomach lining left but ill have a "free" wii.
― sunny successor, Monday, 9 July 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)
How many cases of Coke do you have to buy to gather enough points?
Wait, have you checked eBay (for coke points, not the wii)?
― Z S, Monday, 9 July 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)
Ok, the Wii is 6250 coke points.
There are coke points auctions going all over ebay, usually for 200 points each. I'm guessing, because they all end about an hour from now, but I'd say they'd probably go for about $15 each.
$15 per 200 points
6250/200 = 31.25 31.25 x $15 = $468
Oh.
Hey, there's also some auctions for 1000 coke points, although the one I'm looking at now is at $26 with an hour left, and will probably go way up.
Damn, who ARE all these internet nerds?!
― Z S, Monday, 9 July 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)
haha
im going old school and drinking the stuff. im up to 135 pts!
― sunny successor, Monday, 9 July 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)
Where's Morgan Spurlock when you need him?!?!?
― David R., Monday, 9 July 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)
How many points do you get per unit of drink? do cans count? my work has free coke cans... i could probably collect them (from all employees) if they were worth something! of course i'd look like a hobo.
― Will M., Monday, 9 July 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)
Weigh your priorities, man, because in my personal cosmology:
Owning Wii > looking like hobo > being hobo
― Leee, Monday, 9 July 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)
its like 3 points for a 20OZ and 10 points for those 10 pack of cans things. its going to be a long, sweet ride.
― sunny successor, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 13:06 (eighteen years ago)
So if I was being given one of these in the next couple of weeks, which games should I be looking to pick up for it?
Paper Mario, Zelda, what else?
― aldo, Thursday, 26 July 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)
Metroid Prime 3, on Aug 27. Resident Evil 4. Warioware. Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Trauma Center. Get Wii Play if you want a second Wiimote (which you will, might as well get the free game). Madden is supposed to be fun on the Wii, too.
At least those are what I would buy if I could find one.
― marmotwolof, Thursday, 26 July 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)
Ta. I suspect I will get Kororinpa and maybe Elebits as well.
― aldo, Thursday, 26 July 2007 14:09 (eighteen years ago)
kororinpa would be excellent as a rental or if you can find it real cheap - its really good fun but there is not much to it.
― zappi, Thursday, 26 July 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)
Looking at Kororinpa it seems like Mercury Meltdown is close enough to make only choosing one of the two a sensible option, and it gets better reviews.

Is Mario Strikers Charged as good as it looks?
― m bison, Sunday, 5 August 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)
anyone played wing island yet?
― creme1, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
can somebody please tell me they've successfully had their Wii repaired (in britain)? Ninetendo Uk's support service is Awful Awful Awful and nobody picks up the phone at their "dedicated repair centre". They don't even an @nintendo email address. The store i bought from says "give up, we have" But i'll be damned if i'm starting zelda and VC paper mario from the beginning.
Any suggestions?
― Slumpman, Monday, 6 August 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)
the US has a new channel available via Wiiware in the shop, means you can watch video previews of Metroid Prime 3. http://www.youtube.com/v/m8Ur_NJPfdk which brings up the question, why the hell have they not done this before, and not just for Metroid, but for all game including VC???
― zappi, Friday, 10 August 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

It is finally easy to buy a Wii....in Ithaca, NY. After casually searching for almost a year, I casually located one within 5 days of moving here.
I have the Wii, two full controller sets, Wii Sports (duh), Play (Bleh, but I needed another remote), and Resident Evil 4 (splooge!). I also have graduate school, starting tomorrow. Fuck!
― Z S, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
The stores are out, but if the local craigslist is any indication, you can get good used package deals.
Also, some people's apparent taste in games SUUUUUUUUUCKS
― kingfish, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)
The Target by my house, completely out of the blue, had 14 of them yesterday. The guy behind the counter said they'd been there for a week, and they'd only sold 2 of them. WTF?
― John Justen, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 19:03 (eighteen years ago)
I bought Wii Play, Warioware, Zelda, and Paper Mario. In an amusing related note, I almost ended up with 2 controllers and 3 nunchuks due to my astonishing ability to not read the "things included" portion of the box, which would have been irritating.
Not that I'm running out of things to play, but any suggestions for next game purchase?
― John Justen, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

(though a little generous, perhaps, with the thumbs ups)
How many Wii points = $1?

(I know I could probably just look this stuff up, but I'm lazy and distracted by having a Wii, so take that into account plz.)

I can't believe that over a year later, still?!?
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:58 (eighteen years ago)
I know, it's freakin' crazy. Not as crazy as my 60-year-old MOM coming back from something and telling me how much fun Wii Sports was at her friend's house and demanding to know why I haven't gotten one yet.
It's weird.
Also weird, since I was a GameCube owner last generation, to see the complete opposite of what I used to see: no Wiis on the floor of any store I go to, while there are tons and tons of 360s and PS3s (and PS2 bundles, surprised they're still pushing it so hard, but it must doing okay) stacked up in piles all over. Bizarro.
