Alex Len is a guy who didn't make that list that I think teams should consider giving 9m+ and seeing what Sarver does. Worth the gamble.

Len would be good at that price, and you could probably count on minor improvement year over year for the next 4-5 years out of him.

i think his heroic return within minutes from a devastating knee injury that would have crippled lesser players for a season or two during their finals win was certainly legendary

NBA hof is a bit warmer to guys who have some kind of champion/winner pedigree than MLB hof, i think? you never really see the same kind of gatekeeping debates about cumulative stats and that sort of thing. I guess it could be argued that Paul Pierce is like an NBA version of Kirk Gibson, like a clearly superior player who could do almost everything, but one with a brief peak.

which is fair, a single player can definitely influence a playoff series way more in basketball than in baseball and we're still not great at quantifying that

You're acting as if talent is randomly distributed among a player pool and thus a larger player pool means it's harder to be elite.

If you contracted MLB the 20 best players would still be there.

casue on alternating years they traded not picks but the right to swap picks, so this year the nets will get the celtics pick (27th) and the celtics will get the nets pick (#1!!!), next year the celtics get both their own pick and the nets pick, lol

the cavs were giving like 20 mpg each to richard jefferson and kyle korver to be essentially useless. i think i'd take melo!

tristan thompson another player who was basically rendered useless in this series

tru, tho melo is a pretty unperfect fit

i think he would be an imperfect fit bcuz the cavs best offense vs the warriors is lebron and kyrie going 1 on 1 and they don't really need one more person to do that. in theory melo would be a great person to shoot open threes or make plays off the dribble on close outs or post up smaller guys on mismatches etc but.... that would take a complete sublimation of his ego so it would be a lot to ask.

i do think in general that's a problem when we're talking about them acquiring like paul george. the warriors could add KD bcuz draymond and KD were not ball dominant scorers, so there was room open for KD in that regard. but the cavs already have two of those guys, adding a third would start to get really complicated. is paul george just gonna stand around the three point line waiting for lebron to pass to him out of a double team?

it's a tough call, melo's track record of not playing like an ass is pretty short but if he arrived w/an open mind it could be interesting.

love is a great fit for them on offense vs every other team in the NBA except the warriors. in this series tho he had trouble taking advantage of theoretical mismatches in the post. i mean vs draymond isn't a mismatch, but klay credible defended him in the post which is a problem
