Trae Young is averaging 28.5 PPG & 10.2 APG. The most PPG by anyone to average 10+ APG in the @collegebb_ref DB is 18.1 by current NBA ref Leon Wood, back in 1982-83 https://t.co/f6O4h2x2Fw

Duke and FSU have been going at it hammer and tongs, as if it were March and an NCCA tournament game. They're playing back and forth across the border between sloppy and amazing.

A is for (Aimless), Saturday, 30 December 2017 21:32 (eight years ago)

50 years ago, Pete Maravich averaged 43.8 PPG his 1st season of varsity at LSU. He scored or assisted on 51.8 PPG and his offensive output has never been rivaled.

Until Trae Young.

Young is scoring or assisting on 52.6 PPG entering today.

No. 13 Kansas took 35 free throws, while West Virginia took two.

mookieproof, Sunday, 18 February 2018 21:09 (seven years ago)

I am generally suspicious of the notion that basketball players move by brownian motion, resulting in an even split of fouls. And west virginia's whole game plan is relentless press.

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:23 (seven years ago)

they have to take down a banner, but it ultimately doesn't matter--everyone remembers what happened, and there will be plenty of record of Louisville's win, even if it's not written in the official record books

sports records are perhaps less thoroughly kept and preserved than the records of our criminal courts. in this way, louisville has strengthened its legacy.

A plan is expected to include the NBA starting relationships with elite teenagers while they are in high school, providing skills to help them develop both on and off the court. It would ultimately open an alternate path to the NBA besides playing in college and a way 18-year-olds could earn a meaningful salary either from NBA teams or as part of an enhanced option in the developmental G League, sources said.

fn about time

lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:40 (seven years ago)

particularly w the g league up and running theres really no need to have college in the loop anymore, also it wld be good if the nbas involvement with high school players got to the level where it prevented guys from shooting from the wrong side of their heads

lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:42 (seven years ago)

tho prob from a marketing standpoint still nothing will ever be better than a two and done rule

lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:44 (seven years ago)

they will have to up the salaries pretty significantly cos you know, you could get 100k + from Arizona... vs only 26k current max g league salary.

college hoops should be for dudes that stick around for 4 years and that (at the most) have a minor shot to play overseas.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Monday, 5 March 2018 17:49 (seven years ago)

the best high school players shd just get drafted like in the garnett days but you can still give them run in the g league if theyre not ready for grown man minutes, and then yeah raise the G league salaries for non nba players/two way contract guys to compete w foreign leagues/illicit ncaa money, and regardless of competition they shd just be paying these guys a living wage

lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:55 (seven years ago)

maybe tack on a year to the rookie contracts of straight out of high school players to allow teams more time to develop them idk

Watching that I was thinking that Ayton must have dropped about 8 draft positions with that game. His fundamentals were dismal. He looked flummoxed on defense and easily kept off the block on offense. Even so, basic economics will make sure he's a one-and-done and that some team will draft him by number 15 for sure.

https://sports.yahoo.com/theres-no-escaping-historic-embarrassment-virginia-043006234.html

The 1-16 upset has long been considered one of the final frontiers in sports. The truly impossible upset. And it has been perpetrated by a commuter school from the America East upon the leafy upper-crust Atlantic Coast Conference enclave founded by Thomas Jefferson.

As TJ himself once said, “I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” Now here is that hostility being visited upon his own school. Virginia has gagged upon its own privilege.

omar little, Saturday, 17 March 2018 20:17 (seven years ago)

what a prayer of a shot. he looked like he splayed out trying to draw contact/foul. defender went straight up, arms in his face, nothing you can do there.

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Sunday, 18 March 2018 13:25 (seven years ago)

Best thing about college basketball, having to go the full length of the court for these shots. Inbounds play at half court wouldn’t have been nearly as exciting.

Jeff, Sunday, 18 March 2018 13:28 (seven years ago)

What an incredible shot, truly one of those moments you live for as a sports fan. I usually hear from my mom when things happen to Michigan sports, but I didn't hear from her after the shot, because she turned the TV off with three seconds left!

piper at the gates of d'awwww (voodoo chili), Sunday, 18 March 2018 14:25 (seven years ago)

Incredibly unlikely shot, but Poole has ice in his veins, and even though he's a freshman, he's probably the guy on Michigan to make a shot when it matters most.
