While the proposed trade between the Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers had not become official as of late Tuesday evening in L.A., Harden and Tucker were welcomed by the Clips the moment they got out of their SUV in the Crypto.com Arena loading dock.

Team president Lawrence Frank was there to greet both players and walk them to the Clippers' locker room. Soon after, team owner Steve Ballmer came over to shake hands with Harden and Tucker.

While Clippers coach Ty Lue and players Kawhi Leonard and Westbrook said they could not comment on the trade until it is official, Westbrook hinted his approval.

"Right now, James and P.J. off-limits. I got nothing for you until it's official," Westbrook said with a smile and a grin after LA beat the Orlando Magic 118-102 on Tuesday night.

Asked if the smile means he's happy despite saying he cannot talk about the deal, Westbrook made it clear.

"Yeah," he repeatedly said. "I mean, s---, why wouldn't I be? Yeah, excuse my language, but definitely, definitely happy."

In the locker room prior to the game, Westbrook and Harden were reunited again. The two played together with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Rockets. Westbrook snapped out of his typical pregame routine and joked with Harden that he can stay on the other side of the locker room, where Harden's new locker will be situated.

Eventually, Tucker and Harden sat near Westbrook and Paul George to catch up over an hour before they faced the Magic.

Asked by a reporter in the locker room how excited he is, Harden replied, "You don't understand."

The categorical mistake a lot of these squidillionaires make is thinking that, because they understood one thing enough to make tons of money at it, they understand, and are good at, everything. To admit that they don't know how to run the sports team they just bought would be admitting that that belief is not true, which is I think pretty threatening.

Not to say sports owners aren't already insanely rich, but I think the steeply escalating values of sports franchises regardless of relative success in the sport is a bigger factor now. What other assets that you can buy only go up and so dramatically without you having to do anything? Even real estate can be cyclical.

he's to arrogant to admit it but i wonder if some part of JJ wishes he took a more normal path....coming in as a head coach without paying any dues and coaching guys *you played with* is a high degree of difficulty.

yeah if youre gonna go straight to head coaching without being an assistant which prob isnt the best idea at least go to a more low key situation

the thing with Nash is he at least had a reputation as being a next level basketball genius who theoretically could have a lot to offer as a HC, Redick on the other hand is a podcaster

if you think people don't think jj redick is a next level basketball genius i'd encourage you to read anything that has been written about jj redick being a coach

i think he is probably a good coach i'd also agree w/ lagoon that he is going to burn out pretty quickly if he doesn't learn how to moderate his emotions, that shit wears on people and if they're contending for the finals then it can prob be accepted as part of the deal but if they're going out in round 1 every year i don't think he's going to be very long for that job

The thing about the McCain trade is that the thought process was a disaster on every level — player eval, timing, negotiation, long term cap/money management, reading how it might affect the locker room. Not to mention the coaching side of it, who very obviously limited and misused this guy, and who was hired and backed by this front office. Like if you just had competent decision making on any of those fronts, this trade doesn’t happen.

The decision to trade McCain now, the way they went about it, and the return they got really highlights the areas of top to bottom organizational brainrot. Just an all-time fuck up, I will never get over it, and I will bet anything that it continues to look worse and worse over time.

obviously i agree with them, i do theyre overreacting but i respect it
