Looks like he won't be NJ's problem anymore.
― Mr. Goodman, Thursday, 31 January 2008 04:15 (seventeen years ago)
I kind of hope he doesn't go to Dallas...if they do that, it seems like they're saying that they either win the championship this year or never win it. Because he's not going to help them more next season, whereas Harris probably would have (compared to what he's doing now). I guess if you're a long-suffering Mavs fan this might be a good thing, but I'd like to seem them continue on for a while longer with the same core.
― circles, Thursday, 31 January 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)
Even if they manage to acquire Kidd Dallas will still not win a championship. Dallas may currently be the best team in the West but I have almost no faith they would be able to get through the Hornets, Suns, or Spurs and even if they do, they would be stopped by the Pistons or Celtics.
I do want to see Kidd leave though because I dream of being able to see LeBron in Brooklyn.

Ray Allen is a huge disappointment? The Gasol trade wasn't stupid? People don't actually believe the majority of posts they make, I think. Rick Carlisle said this trade would make Mavs the favorite in the West, but didn't specify. I'm guessing he meant favorite to blow a 3-1 series lead. I like how there was a column in ESPN Mag a month or two ago about how, for various reasons, mid-season blockbuster trades are a thing of the past in the NBA.
― Granny Dainger, Thursday, 14 February 2008 05:56 (seventeen years ago)

lol u mad and rong
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)
i don't think ray allen has been a huge disappointment but i think it's safe to say he's not the player he was. but anyone expecting the ray allen of 3 or 4 years ago may be operating under some unreasonable expectations. i'm sure as hell glad the celtics have him.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 14 February 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
the ray allen of two years ago was ridic - last year he missed 25+ games - this year hes having near career worsts in nearly every statistical category. i mean hes shooting 42% while not being regularly double teamed for the first time in a long time. so yes he has been a huge disappointment. no ones talking abt it cause the celtics are rolling but this could come back to haunt them bigtime.
i dont know if his body is just breaking down or what. he still has plenty of time to get it together. hope he does.
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
his career shooting % is 44.5 and he's shooting 42.7, it's not an insane drop off. three years ago he averaged 23.9 ppg and shot 42.8% from the field. interesting to note that he's attempting less than 15 shots per game whereas last year he was chucking it up 21 times a game.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 14 February 2008 16:34 (seventeen years ago)
he was the primary scorer on his team - now hes getting tons of open looks and shooting his worst ever - the fact that hes not shooting over 40% from three in this situation is srsly retarded
he seems to be dibbling too much on drives and only getting off mediocre attempts around the basket too ffw
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 16:55 (seventeen years ago)
but anyway this thread is abt jason kidd
http://deadspin.com/assets/resources/2008/02/jasonkiddtub.jpg
1. Ray Allen's been playing on an ankle that doctors told him to rest completely.
2. Devean George nixed the trade because he didn't want to waive his Bird rights, which apparently going to a new team negates.
3. The Grizz-LOLFakers trade is stupid because of how lopsided the trade was.
3b. ...and because I hate Kobe.
yeah i know but i thought <Pietrus> was gonna be baller status all star instead of good role player
4. This year he's not even a good role player!
― Leee, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

ray allen has shot over 40% from beyond the arc once in the last 6 years. he's only shot above 40% 4 times in a 13 year career. he's currently shooting at a higher percentage than he did last year.
i'll still take 18.5 ppg from a gimpy-legged shooting guard on a team with pierce and garnett.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)
lee loses points for otm'ing himself.
kevin the whole point is ray ray is getting better shots than he ever has and hes shooting worse ok
im not confident the c's can compete for the whole thing unless rayray plays better
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

jhøshea otm
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
i'd say the weak spot for the c's competing for the whole thing is that their point guard is still a work in progress. and ray is playing at a level that he's been playing at for a while. i think whatever open shots he's getting (and they aren't all open) are more than offset by his ankles being fucked.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
calling sam cassell!
for real he is the missing link
maybe now that garnetts had his time off ray can get some rest
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:38 (seventeen years ago)
rondo btw has been absolutely on fire recently - not that his awful shooting v a well prepared playoff opponent doesnt still scare me - but he is so much better now than he was at the beginning of the season
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:40 (seventeen years ago)

― carne asada, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:44 (seventeen years ago)
from what i hear theyre just letting him heal fully and giving him a rest as he was looking kinda burnt there for a while - hell be back at full strength after the break - its been a great opportunity for some other guys (leon powe!) to get some burn and theyve gone i think 7-2 w/o him
― jhøshea, Thursday, 14 February 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)
- not that his awful shooting v a well prepared playoff opponent doesnt still scare me -
yeah, i'm not real worried game to game about him but in a series against a decent coach with a decent backcourt.... well, next year i won't be as worried i don't think.
what is garnet’s statues anyway?
last i heard he was able to run for the first time on sunday but they didn't want to risk aggravating it so they kept him out of tues./wed.'s games and the all star game. hopefully be back soon.

Rajon Rondo is shooting 50.1% from the field. Is that mostly layups or something? Seems like a pretty solid percentage, although his FT% and 3P% are both bad.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 14 February 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)
from what i've seen it's been mostly layups. dude is an INSANE rebounder considering he's shorter than me.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 14 February 2008 20:06 (seventeen years ago)
When the Celtics win against good teams its often because no one can answer Rondo.
(A year ago I could’ve never imagined writing that sentence)
Regardless, I don’t see the Celtics moving anywhere in a seven game series, especially against Detroit. Remember, this is a team coached by Doc Rivers!
Nearly every game I’ve been to this year KG is calling nearly every play. It’s embarrassing to have the talent they do and now win by greater margins.

uh they have by far the largest margin of victory in the association
nothing but injuries is keeping them out of the finals - and then its on
and rondos 50% looks good but its somewhat illusory - his .527 ts% is good for 32nd amongst point guards. and he gets left open from 15ft out all the time.

Although Kobe Bryant is the only player in the league with a specific no-trade clause in his contract, league rules dictate that players on a one-year contract -- but who also ended last season with the same team and are thus eligible for Early Bird or full Larry Bird free-agent rights at the end of the contract -- cannot be traded without their consent. George, who earns $2.4 million this season, is one of 18 such players in the league at present, afforded the right to either approve or veto trades because those Bird rights are lost if they do get traded.

im from boston and i dont really see how saying a team w/the best record, point differential and def eff has a shot at winning it all can be described as "delusional"

"It's done," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told ESPN.com via e-mail. "J-Kidd is a Mav."

J-Kidd? Does anyone in the NBA have a nickname that doesn't start with their first name's initial, which is followed by a monosyllable?

M-Less.
― Leee, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 20:03 (seventeen years ago)
dude got ran by chris paul tonight XD
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 February 2008 05:17 (seventeen years ago)
except for assists, dude was clanking tonite v spurs which was 2nd best game ive ever been to (bowen blocking nowitzki at the end was a religious moment)
― m bison, Friday, 29 February 2008 06:02 (seventeen years ago)
looking at the box score wasnt that bad for him (3 for 8) but dude made some bad mistakes (threw to no one at a pretty critical point). michael finley lighting up and dirk missing 4 free throws, tho, a+++++++
― m bison, Friday, 29 February 2008 06:07 (seventeen years ago)
he's going to tighten up the mavs well before playoff time.
― tremendoid, Friday, 29 February 2008 09:23 (seventeen years ago)

― J0rdan S., Friday, 29 February 2008 09:24 (seventeen years ago)

omg kidd is so shook - 1 for 8 and 0 trips to the line v the c's just now doesnt really explain how fucking obviously broken his confidence is - he is going to kill kiiiiilllll dallas in the playoffs
he shot an air ball 3 that reggie miller described as 2 feet short and 3 feet wide - the other announcer initially thought it was deflected
he blew a couple easy layups and passed up 1m open shots
he has a combined 8 points in his last 3 games
omg soooo shoooook lol
― jhøshea, Friday, 21 March 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)
omg kidd dallas is so shook
― carne asada, Friday, 21 March 2008 03:38 (seventeen years ago)

― tremendoid, Friday, 21 March 2008 05:27 (seventeen years ago)
u hav to see to believe. and maybe you have. i watched kidd all the time on the nets cause i get all their games and ive never seen him behave like this before. a few times rondo was double teaming clear across the court and kidd got it and just swung it. no drive no shot nothing.
hes shook shoooooook !!!!
------
Perfect. From someone who thinks a guy averaging close to a trip dub sucks no less.
