tonight jameer nelson threw him an alley-oop but when he threw it you couldnt see howard and he kind of just emerged from this crowd in the paint and soared over them like a flare and after he jammed it even the other players on the floor almost seemed stunned by what had just happened. breathtaking, this dude.

After watching Oden in the GS game on Tuesday, what impressed me most was that he still seems very awkward, rusty and rookie-ish so much of the time, and yet he still put up a double double. When gets his NBA game up to speed, he'll be wonderous good.

He must stay healthy for that to happen, but at present I expect he will stay healthy. In three years people will wonder why everyone was so quick to peg him as an injury-prone dud. Or, contrary to my expectations, he will be an injury-prone dud. I am willing to wait and see.

Have to like Harrington just because he obviously hated playing for Nelson, and will probably get a lot of minutes, but he is very streaky, and shoots low percentages a lot.

so much for that new focus on defense phoenix

plus now amare is openly annoyed that shaq down low is the focus of the offense (as he has every right to be - yes let's ignore our unguardable, incredible dunking AND jump shooting, league leading percentage free throw shooter and-one machine mvp type candidate to throw it to 100 year old lolquille)

f u steve kerr, get back in the booth with marv where you excel

and i say this loving shaq and impressed by his hot start

schrödinger's googler (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

but dude Kerr's thinking about the PLAYOFFS and you can't win in the PLAYOFFS unless you clog the lane with a past-prime center like Shaq and go against type wrt the roster of talent you currently have @ your disposal

re: Phoenix & Kerr screwing the pooch, this ESPN write-up is a U&K read

I shudder to think what would happen if Reggie Miller got a chance to GM

David R., Tuesday, 2 December 2008 22:27 (sixteen years ago)

Didn't I read a bunch of articles early last season about how the Suns weren't having fun anymore, long before Marion was traded? Is the problem the makeup of the offense, or is it Porter's game plans? Porter was brought in to help develop the half-court offense and the defense, but Shaq isn't exactly an energy guy on defense. I suspect he'll be injured and out of the rotation by March anyway.

likely hell flip ai at the deadline too

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

tho it is curious that he didnt get draft picks or prospects in the deal - obvs chauncey can still play

ice cr?m, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 13:42 (sixteen years ago)

it was really only marion that was unhappy before the trade because he's kind of a moron, amare was a little annoyed that he wasn't top banana but trading marion for, like, ak-47 and a few spare parts to convert into a nash backup

now EVERYONE's unhappy except maybe matt barnes ?

schrödinger's googler (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 17:30 (sixteen years ago)

trading marion for, like, ak-47 would have made amare the co-#1 option and made everyone happy, i mean

i think the thing is trading for shaq wasn't WRONG, but focusing everything they do around a not-very-mobile big man when their strengths were speed, quick decision making, and great shooting seems like failing GM 101

schrödinger's googler (agent hibachi), Thursday, 4 December 2008 21:34 (sixteen years ago)

Maybe not magical magnets, but RR has disproportionately massive hands for a dude of his size. Add that to some good timing and you've got a nice rebounding guard. The hands may also be why he can't shoot J's tho.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 28 December 2008 05:30 (sixteen years ago)

i wouldn't say that he's been terrible, he's just not putting up AK golden years numbers. still fairly young but he's always played sort of recklessly, w/ little regard for his own body - that kind of mentality really takes its toll over a career. wouldn't be surprised if he retired from basketball or went to europe within the next 3-4 years

News: Durant's scoring binge continued Tuesday, racking up 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting.
Spin: Durant also added 10 rebounds, six assists, two 3-pointers and three steals in yet another terrific performance. It was his ninth time scoring at least 30 points in the last 10 games, and the 13th time in 17 games, during a surge that's landed him right behind Kobe Bryant for fourth place in the NBA in scoring.

Gasol 10-10 in FGs in the first half on this game? Are they trying to guard him with Jason Terry?

Alex in SF, Sunday, 15 March 2009 20:51 (sixteen years ago)

that phoenix demolishing of the warriors last night, it always happens when some team drops 150 pts you always expect their big man to have gone off and ended up with some sick stat line but of course nash only ended up with 11 pts and 9 assists. they always spread the wealth in those games.

The Prices are .......... VERY AFFORDABLE!!! (omar little), Monday, 16 March 2009 19:20 (sixteen years ago)
