a keeper league is a league where you get to keep some of your players from year to year. I have never done this but I think it might be fun. indicate interest by typing a random slur against an NBA coach.

BY THE WAY: I have changed the league to reflect NBA realities about the flexibility of positioning. In this league no SG PG SF PF designation; you start three guards, three forwards, two centers. Also two utility spots and six bench players. WE ROLL THAT DEEP.

I can't believe how bad my autodraft went after I left. Goddamnit.

You compete against a second team according to stategories: points, rebounds, etc. If your lineup has more rebounds, you win that category and get a point in your head-to-head matchup. Whoever wins the most categories (out of a total 9) wins the week's H2H matchup, which counts as one (1) "win."

But you know, Yahoo isn't even like Yahoo anymore. (Why can't I check the full standings from my team page??)

i hate the nba.com league but i want the keeper thing, we could probably work out a way to do that for next year (just everyone agree to draft first two rounds according to their sleepers or else risk giving them up, man i dunno)

Is this a matter of doing one or the other? Because I'm down for both: Y! because of ILX tradition, NBA.com because I'm in love with my Okafor and Josh Smith tandem, and I get to feel like Chris Mullin without the flattop. If we had to go with one, and it was a keeper in spirit, then I guess we could mandate that we draft X number of guys already on our rosters, which I think D5 is suggesting.

PS to hibachi: winning 5-4 when I got one game out of Gilbert in Champship week before he blew out his knee is hardly sonning anyone, and earns you a meeting of the minds... WITH MY BELT.

my problem is that only one person has actually re-upped his nba.com team as of yesterday, and the person is me, and at least one person is done with the league, and a bunch of them are i-dont-know-who anymore. i sent out an email and got one response.

but i'd be down for a yahoo league in which everyone got to declare his keepers from nba.com teams; those people would be off-limits to everyone else in rounds one and two

or else just re-do the nba.com league while nuking a bunch of teams, whatever. can anyone figure out how to set a draft time on that jammy?

i think i'm back in on nba.com; last time i logged in it was asking for a commissioner gordon to get up in there. i think if you go to league tab->draft central you can reset the draft? either that or the commish tab...it's confusing. it does say we're currently set to draft offline, which is not what we want. i can't find any info on the keeper thing, which is really the main reason i wanted to keep that league rolling.

we could switch it to yahoo and do that mock-keeper by just drafting our keeps in rnds 1 and 2...i'm cool with that if everyone from the old league wants to switch

can't add any new teams to that one though. two yahoo leagues? crusty exclusive repeat customers + open season league with a fresh draft?

i'm cool with it- 2-3 keepers for next year's squad? keepers generally you can throw away all your doodz if they wound up crap, right? (ie if you place last you can toss those fools out and start over next year)

maybe we should do something weird and you can keep two next year, but NOT the top yahoo rated dude from last year? (ie i draft shawn marion and uh...deron williams and monta ellis, next year i can keep deron and monta but not shawn (assuming he stays in like fantasy top 3))

I could go either way. TOs tend to penalize good players, but it's nice to have like one negative stat. Right now they are in. Convince me otherwise.

I don't see any reason we couldn't do a keeper league next year -- just everyone has to denote two Players Who Cannot Be Drafted By Anyone Else, take them in the first two rounds, and then it's on from there.

It was a good draft. I especially liked the parts when I picked Warriors.

I'm sorry I missed the draft and now have a crap team with no rebounding or and no shooting and no passing. I regret this.

you did get three potential breakouts, though, with scola, outlaw and thornton (who is probably going to play a lot of minutes for the clips out of necessity). people are assuming durant will be good. your team rebounding is pretty good (you have some good rebounding guards in josh howard and mo williams) but take it from me, you don't want rasho as anything but a benchwarmer.

Also I'm pretty proud of my 4th place finish! Way better than my dead last in the league a few buddies of mine and I do every year.

I decided to take a break from kicking your butts this year, instead focusing on handicapping myself with my worst draft ever (worst than the time I drafted Troy Murphy in the second round) so that I could spit and claw my way up to a semi-respectable 6th place. :\
