How sorry is every other team in the league going to be that they didn't draft Blair by the end of the year? Jeez what a beast.

We call them "meat hemorrhoids" (Alex in SF), Thursday, 29 October 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

every year theres one of these "undersized" pf beasts - is there some sort of rule against drafting them in the 1st round - im aware that blairs had knee issues but still

btw hes got a higher standing reach than griffin

greg oden has played 30+ minutes in an nba game 9 times ever

ice cr?m, Friday, 30 October 2009 21:28 (sixteen years ago)

Oden didn't start more than a few games last year, generally when Przybilla was injured. He played mostly with the second unit. Meaning only that the lack of minutes was by design. He still fouls too much and gets taken out for that reason, but part of that is the crappy NBA officiating.

Yeah. The question with JO'N is whether he can keep up this statistical pace for any length of time.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 1 November 2009 02:19 (sixteen years ago)

But if he can, and if Beasley continues to improve, the Heat will be pretty good this year.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 1 November 2009 02:20 (sixteen years ago)

BTW, did Carmello Anthony already sign a long-term extension with Denver? I never hear about him as a prospective free-agent.

囧 (dyao), Sunday, 1 November 2009 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

Hornets roster is really hodgepodge and uncomplimemtary. They just don't don't make sense as a team to me. Also Byron Scott should have been fired a year ago.

btw can we talk abt how +/- is the stupidest stat in the world - why the fuck does espn put it in their box score - even people who are into it acknowledge you need a big sample for it to be of any use at all

ice cr?m, Thursday, 5 November 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

yeah it's so fucking dumb - feel really bad with whoever has to calculate it. it's always hilarious to look at though because it makes utterly no sense - like, oh, luke walton was -11 in 8 mins last night - oh, sean marion was -23 in 29 mins last night etc

a goon boy (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 5 November 2009 16:38 (sixteen years ago)

yeah not the most welcome trend obv. but congratulations on behalf of basketball lovers everywhere. we've enjoyed every. single. one.

yeah totally--it was weird during the broadcast they were saying he's apparently going to have season ending surgery but that he was available and then he played? i know it's strange times we live in but i feel those things should be mutually exclusive.

omaha deserved 311 (call all destroyer), Thursday, 19 November 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

I think he has an issue that can't get worse, so he's playing until he has the surgery.

But anyway, he was always just a body to the W's. They haven't even signed any D league guys to replace all the guys who are injured. Very sad state of affairs.

windy = white, carl = black (polyphonic), Thursday, 19 November 2009 17:37 (sixteen years ago)

bell hurt his wrist and was going to put off surgery when he was on the bobcats (with the idea that maybe the playoffs could happen..ie lol first round exit) but now that he's on the warriors it's clearly time for the season-ender

btw does anyone remember that kobels had a busted finger that he just taped up and was putting of surgery? did that ever actually happen? was that last year or 08? was he just taping up a finger to make things more difficult for himself?

i'll see you in jamie mccourt then (agent hibachi), Thursday, 19 November 2009 17:53 (sixteen years ago)

"You can't exactly call it the shot heard 'round the world. For starters, the 73-foot swish that Kevin Garnett heaved in last night from just above the Golden State foul line didn't count. After a lengthy video review, referee Scott Foster determined that Garnett, who released the ball in a spinning, shotput motion, didn't beat the clock. For another, the Celtics forward was a blank slate after the game. He had to be reminded of the shot. 'I did make a halfcourt shot, didn't I,' he said after the Celtics' 109-95 win, getting the distance wrong. He turned to Paul Pierce and, in a mock scolding, said to the Celtics captain, 'Why didn't you tell me, dog?' Told the shot was actually made from three-quarters court distance, Garnett said, 'It was three-quarters, wasn't it. Whoa, that felt good.'"

Nothing he can do. CJ Watson has the swine flu and they are very thin at forward too, and they just signed Chris Hunter off the d-league. I think he was the only guy they could fit on the roster because they got an exemption just to sign him. And Hunter played really well tonight, so unless they drop Mikki Moore (which I would do, but Nelson loves Moore for some reason), they kinda just have to wait out Watson's illness.

he just playing much more focused basketball. i mean i'm sure the fact that the fans were booing him at the end of last season every time he shot a 3 is probably part of it. heard joe johnson got on him about that too. he's always been great, but it was game to game. much more consistent this season. think he's just growing up. great for the hawks since they just locked him up long term for a reasonable price.

not too surprised that the coaches didn't chose him for the allstar team given that he has a rep as a coaches nightmare (not true) and Horford's a coaches dream, but anybody who watches the hawks knows he's the teams mvp. needs to stop whining to the refs so much tho.

someone needs to compile a list of the most ridiculous stat lines put up AGAINST the warriors

i have to imagine that jason terry scoring 36 points and getting to the free throw line 13 times would be up there

jacka in the box (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 06:51 (fifteen years ago)

uh jason terry has put up higher numbers before - he's not exactly offensively deficient

99. The Juggalo Teacher (dyao), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 08:15 (fifteen years ago)

yeah he was a monster before he left the hawks, surprised how well he's restrained himself as a supersub or whatever he is in dallas

old persons (tremendoid), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 08:36 (fifteen years ago)

he's also 47 years old

also he's only scored 30+ one other time this year and hadn't shot more than 8 free throws in a game & it's not exactly like the warriors are riddled with old guards who can't defend

jacka in the box (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 08:43 (fifteen years ago)

yeah but the point is he's liable to drop 36 on anybody - in fact 36 is kind of disappointing against the warriors. not really what I would call a ridiculous stat line imo

in the past ive been on the fence about ginbobili b/c his decision making was so suspect when it comes to shooting threes or making defensive risks or crazy passes or whatever, but this season, esp after the all star break, he's been a total beast, the best pro ball he's played in his career (contract year lols). he's not as explosive, but he's as elusive and much more mature a player (MUCH less of a bitch about flopping and whining).

that block on kg was like manu reached into kg's chest and ripped his heart out temple of doom style, can't hate on batmanu

weirdly was just talking abt who the okc thunders could sign as a veteran free agent to fill the shooting guard spot and step up next year and i came up with ginobles...spurs prob wont let him go but doesnt that seem like a sick fit?

i'll see you in jamie mccourt then (agent hibachi), Monday, 29 March 2010 22:44 (fifteen years ago)

nowitzki 34 pts, 10 reb, 10 ast

☀ ☃ (am0n), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 14:15 (fifteen years ago)

hibachi, it wd be an excellent fit 4 them and the spurs may not be able to afford to keep him if okc offers 2 much (team is taking a bath this year luxury tax wise, thx rich jefferson).i don't think okc is dumb enough to offer what he may hope for (3 yrs max, and i'd say anything over 7 mil/year is probably pushing it for him given that w/in those years his body will probably turn into paste.) spurs def want him back, tho. he's become my fav player this season after years of having a total <3/h8 rltnshp w his erratic play. he is like reverse samson, the balder he gets, the wiser and stronger he becomes,

singing aged breaking down dude is so not thunder style, no matter how nasty he might be

~cankles~ (ice cr?m), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 15:29 (fifteen years ago)

yeah most def im kind of obsessed with okc's salary/contract structure the next few years but it's soooo good that they actually have the ability to roll the dice with a reasonable contract that prices in the chance that manu falls to pieces like a lego guy...like 3 yrs 5-7 mil sounds right yah? and even if his wheels come off that contract would be tradeable or buyout-able...seems like roster-wise they have a slot for one dude like that esp if the upside is if he has a couple of devastating playoff games left in him.
