Durant is very likely to "just go OFF" against LA, but in the playoffs that can screw up a team pretty badly. No one can play one-on-five in the playoffs and win a seven game series. High entertainment value, though.

the playoff scenarios are dizzying imo, but the most likely scenario has the spurs and mavs fighting first round. i want 2 believe we can beat them, we def have the talent and i think we matchup better than we have in the past (certainly last year). parker can lite up kidd p badly, manu is healthy *knocks on wood*, mcdyess is as good a cover for nowitzki as we've ever had, but the mavs have a lot of weapons

the recipe for ok citys success would seem to be bonkers durant + sik D - id feel a lot better abt their chances if westbrook hadnt been playing like ass for the last 2 months - pg is where they can and must dominate - generally if la losses before the finals people are gonna be pointing and loling at fisher et al

I think that LA has a tough go of it this year, but will ultimately pull it off. Next year, they will be healthy and will have acquired a better defensive point guard to replace Fisher. I predict next year, they will romp.

However, if Denver pulls its head out of its ass, or the Jazz learn how to play anywhere but Salt Lake City, they may stand a chance.

i mean, both should stay. the heat are positioned better than any other team to get much better, much faster. aside from having a great organization and management and facilities, they have a top-5 player already under contract (who can therefore be re-signed under the "bird rules"), with room for another maximum contract, a midlevel exception, and even the possibility of a sign-and-trade for amare s. that's better than any other options. i can see wade leaving for the bulls, but i think chances are he'll stay in miami.

the sun-sentinel reporter who covers the heat did a story a few days ago, about how -- other than wade -- the entire roster has lost all of the goodwill they built up during the regular season. basically it said that -- aside from wade -- everyone's stock has obviously been seriously devaluated, they're all playing for their jobs, and the roster will likely be shaken-up dramatically in the offseason.

the thing is, many of us fans have anxiously been awaiting the offseason -- even when the team looked okay during the regular season -- so that this "dramatic shake-up" could unfold.

that's why i say it's likely feast or famine for the team in this (or, in some scenarios, next) offseason. either we lose wade and the team is sub-expansion quality, or we resign wade and likely add some top-caliber free agents. with the right retention/additions, we could be amazing.

had trouble imagining how a 5 seed could just implode like this and then I remembered it's the lol eastern conference.

been thinking about how the NBA has been basically concentrating on promoting SGs/SFs since MJ, yet in this year's playoffs it seems it's the teams with the really strong front lines which have been doing really well, and is basically why the west has been so so so much better than the east in the past ten years.

yeah the problem with dirk is that he's such a dangerous shooter and impossible to guard when he's on his game, so u tend 2 think "aw man dirk is unstoppable" but you don't notice him on d because he usually doesn't cover the opposing team's best player b/c he's such a fucking matador, so you have to have guys like chicken fries (early ILH ref 4 the newjax) and haywood on the roster who are offensively challenged but are there to conceivably compensate for dirk's shortcomings. i mean he's a deadly shooter and has actually hit some clutch ones, but do you ant him on the floor to make a stop? i would trust duncan and ginobili to either hit a shot or get a steal/block/force a stupid shot and that's why spurs pwn them when healthy.
