i dont have anything to say abt this topic at the moment

johnny crunch, Saturday, 5 September 2015 02:10 (ten years ago)

osu has a good team and a lot of easy games is my understanding

johnny crunch, Saturday, 5 September 2015 02:21 (ten years ago)

I don't know diddly shit about how Alabama looks this year. Guess I'll find out Saturday night against Wisconsin.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 5 September 2015 03:08 (ten years ago)

my playoffs pick:

ohio state
auburn
baylor
ucla

J0rdan S., Saturday, 5 September 2015 21:39 (ten years ago)

(which was my opinion before today's games :D)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 5 September 2015 21:56 (ten years ago)

WTH is up with ESPN spending significant amounts of time on both Gameday and Final talking about spreads and covering the over/under on individual games now? STFU with all that gambler bullshit.

Also, Final is even more terrible than I imagined it would be with Davis, May and Holtz gone.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 6 September 2015 05:22 (ten years ago)

I think if USC doesn't make it into the playoff four sark will literally be sacrificed on a satanic altar by that school's boosters bc they are not used to this type of (relative/by their standards) irrelevance

slothroprhymes, Sunday, 6 September 2015 13:17 (ten years ago)

The talent on this Buckeyes team is unreal.

Sufjan Grafton, Sunday, 20 September 2015 05:26 (ten years ago)

Bama offense has no leadership anywhere. And the QB corps is the weakest since before Brodie Croyle 13 years ago. Ole Miss is for real, and Bama deserved this loss.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 20 September 2015 05:30 (ten years ago)

I thought one of the selling points of Lane Kiffin was that he's a hell of a recruiter. I've seen no evidence of that with these freshmen and sophomores.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 20 September 2015 05:35 (ten years ago)

i dunno, robert foster and calvin ridley were both like upper 5 star recruits, cam sims & daylon charlot were high 4 star guys. i don't think it's a talent problem they just don't have any experience. they leaned so insanely heavily on amari last season that the passing offense looks lost without him. i'm sure by the end of the season it will look better but it's not a shock that w/ the qb situation the way it is the passing offense would look kinda wack w/ all this inexperience.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 September 2015 15:05 (ten years ago)

foster somehow tore his rotator cuff

J0rdan S., Saturday, 26 September 2015 23:33 (ten years ago)

I've pointed out my alma mater Indiana's ineffectiveness in football before, but I figure I should post for now while they are undefeated at 4-0. They haven't really beat any really good teams, but none of them are total cupcakes and hey when you are IU and it is football, you got to take your wins when you get them. Now they are setup to get blown out by OSU 49-13 at home next week. That said, I will point out when I went to IU they were actually kinda decent in football with Bill Mallory as the coach and had players like "AT" Anthony Thompson and later a QB named Trent Green. That is sadly kinda the salad years of IU football. But hey as the T-shirts say "IU FOOTBALL: NEVER LOST A PARTY".

earlnash, Sunday, 27 September 2015 06:44 (ten years ago)

My current 'local' college team is doing pretty good too with UK getting a win going to 3-1 and now having 2 wins in the SEC over South Carolina and Missouri. They got some decent talent, especially at linebackers and DBs. QB isn't bad too but their receivers have stone hands.

earlnash, Sunday, 27 September 2015 06:47 (ten years ago)

After being thrashed by Utah, it looks like Oregon has fallen off the mountaintop this season and they'll be pretty ordinary.

Aimless, Sunday, 27 September 2015 18:29 (ten years ago)

oregons pass dfense is a nightmare and with how awful their qb play was vs utah, they just got dominated by the utah dline in that game; there was also some extremely odd plays, like utah pulled off the misdirection punt return that st louis (?) did in the nfl last season

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 01:07 (ten years ago)

that said, oregon being only slightly over a td fav @ colorado this week seems like literally free money

J0rdan S., Saturday, 3 October 2015 21:51 (ten years ago)

i also think ppl deluded themselves into thinking bama was like "bad"; olemiss qb/wr's made some real dope plays not sure who else is doing that on this d

johnny crunch, Saturday, 3 October 2015 21:57 (ten years ago)

bama definitely didn't look bad in that loss to ole miss

Even if you aren't playing in the BCS or the Playoff every year, you usually have at least 10 wins and your recruiting pull is KUH-RAZY good with Les Miles. Let's look back at Alabama after Gene Stallings or Michigan after Lloyd Carr or Tennessee after Philip Fulmer or USC after Carroll or...god, the annual disaster that is U of Miami. my concern is basically that saban is the best defensive mind of a generation so i'm not quite sure we know exactly what kirby is capable of. of course, muschamp was a defensive genius at multiple schools and was a disaster as a head coach so it's not like success is guaranteed either way. i guess i would just be wary of the kirby era turning out like every bill belichick assistant has turned out (i guess the jury is still out on bill o brien)

there was talk that OU would revenge themselves for last year's bowl loss. it was talk.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Friday, 1 January 2016 00:19 (nine years ago)

alabama's tromping of msu makes me depressed. now I must hope clemson can run through them like grease through a goose, which seems far-fetched, but I am willing to hope.

johnny crunch, Friday, 1 January 2016 20:18 (nine years ago)

"how the fuck did ohio state lose to michigan state?"

MSU hung around ok with Alabama in the first half, that interception right before half time in the red zone and then giving up the TD to start third quarter seemed to knock the life out of them. How the heck did Alabama lose to Mississippi State in a high scoring shutout? Same way really, it all comes down to mitigating mistakes often in football, perhaps more so in college ball. Alabama's turnovers were a big reason the Buckeye's knocked them off last year.

earlnash, Friday, 1 January 2016 21:34 (nine years ago)

Big thing with Alabama is that their backups on d-line and running back are better than most college clubs starters. Clemson looks pretty talented and quite fast. I could see them hanging with Alabama for at least a while. I got to think the Tide's got depth that can wear down any club on a good day.

they need to interview the trailing coach in these blowouts going into the half instead of the leading 1

johnny crunch, Saturday, 2 January 2016 03:22 (nine years ago)

Oklahoma State never seemed much interested in this game, while Ole Miss was fired up from the first. The results speak for themselves.

the drop off from adams to lockie was about as steep as imaginable

J0rdan S., Sunday, 3 January 2016 04:11 (nine years ago)

I always try to remember that the players are pretty damn young and 97% of them will never play beyond college ball.

Poor Jeff Lockie was a senior. After all that work, all that time spent on the practice squad, in the weight room, learning the playbook, getting bashed around. Now this is how he'll be remembered, as the fuckup quarterback who blew the big lead in the bowl game. Shouldn't happen to a dog, let alone a young kid who put his whole heart into it.

joe tessitore on saban just now: "interesting to see nick take the field, hes a man of rituals right likes to watch the weather channel, likes to eat his cookies, likes to have his lettuce with a little bit of tuna or some turkey, and likes to walk a hundred yards before he sizes up a victory"
