Bears defense was end of the season don't give a s##t a good portion of that game. Not a good sign. O-line dumb penalties are not helping either. Williams is not great, but he is not the main problem either.

Lions looked more like last season, but the Chicago defense was playing ole! most of the time in the second half, they were pretty darn wide open and not exactly chasing plays side to side well.

Bengals won an ugly one, but they won the ugly one. Burrow got a toe injury to go to his collection. Good news is that they got so much talent, they are going to be somewhat workable with Browning, who has some experience and at times played pretty well.

It took awhile for the Rams to wake up, East Coast early window. Defense is playing outstanding.

ok now that I've gotten a good look at this offense I don't think McDaniel is the problem

Tua's mid when healthy, which isn't exactly a guarantee. Hill's a headcase and a distraction (and more recently, not a top flight WR). The offensive line has been terrible under McDaniel and the defense seems to battle overwhelming injuries every year.

McDaniel's always been a run game expert and if there's a through-line with his time there, it's been how well RBs have done. However solid his play design and play calling can be at times, I don't think he's enough of a head coach in the vibes/player motivator sense. He looks so done this year. I hope he hasn't fallen off the wagon.

If I was Miami, I'd play this year out (and assuming a bottom 5 finish), fire McDaniel, draft a QB next year, either keep Tua to train the new guy or trade him (they can cut him with relatively minimal pain after the 2026 season), dump Hill (easy to do after this season) and focus on improving the health and depth of the defense.

I kinda thought Daniel Jones had a chance to be something decent. He was fairly efficient at times for the Giants. Giants always seemed to play really stupid and was always getting offensive line penalties at bad times and their WRs were really not usually that great.

Jones reminds me quite a bit of Alex Smith in style. Alex Smith went through the gauntlet on some cruddy Niner clubs and eventually when he got around a decent supporting cast, could be a very effective player.

Defensive coaching is a factor there. And again using the Niners as a contrast, we have a lot of defensive injuries, but we drafted extremely well, and are coached by arguably the 2nd best defensive coach in the NFL with Saleh. Makes a major difference - at least 3 of our games were won with a defensive stop at the end.

It's going to be a rough time if the defense keeps playing like this and Cooper Rush has to start more than one more game

Broncos have one marquee win against the Eagles, but have the 4th weakest strength of schedule and 2nd weakest strength of victory of all 14 playoff seeded teams. Defense does 85% of the work, offense disappears for huge stretches of games. This isn't the 2001 NFL, it won't translate to the playoffs. I'm not sold yet.

Patriots have 2nd weakest SOS amongst playoff teams and 3rd weakest SOV, but have two marquee wins (Buffalo and Tampa, both on road), plus they had to overcome an 0-2 start which means they reacted well to pressure. Their offense can come up big in the clutch and can be explosive. So I think they might get ahead of their skis in playoffs but I trust them more than Denver.

Indy has had a weakish sched but did beat Denver and the Chargers, and played well in a losing effort against the Rams. They are getting an MVP season from Taylor, but Jones was bad-to-mid 2 weeks in a row. If he comes back down to earth, they become "pretty good" only.

Steelers have had a tough schedule but are inconsistent lately and sputtering on offense with Rodgers looking done lately. Rudolph is ass - he looked good against a pathetic Bengals D that didn't pressure him but if he has to start any length of time, they're in trouble.

Buffalo is probably the worst version of themselves over the last 5 years. Underperforming at WR, often porous on defense (esp the run) due to a nightmarish number of injuries on the defense. Allen not playing at MVP level, has thrown 7 picks across last 7 games. However...they're more battle tested in playoffs than almost every other AFC playoff team and have a history of mid-season slides. So..they could be a flawed sleeper.

Chargers have an LOL offensive line that got their franchise QB merced. 100% frauds.

Playoffs depend on two things - you either need an offense with a QB that is clutch and can pull it out late...or a defense you can count on to lock down the game late.

There are few teams that seem to have either. Most good QB playing this year has been "pretty good", few QBs other than Maye playing out of their minds. Jordan Love is 2nd in QBR and some Pack fans have been whining about him all year.

I think the champion this year is gonna be akin to the early 21st century - the one who runs the ball the best. So, more likely...the one with the fewest OL injuries come playoff time.

The Rams should be the best but.. we know it almost never works out that way.

the Bears win streak has been flukey but they actually do seem to be playing better game to game, the defense is indeed very good and Caleb is starting to resemble the good Russell Wilson a little.
