there's only one game that i wouldn't consider a gimme (the bears), and that still shouldn't be too hard @ home around thanksgiving. minn's defense is pretty good but that's about it; jax was a punching bag to them last year and that's when they were a playoff team, nevermind now that half their best defensive players are on IR; as for indy... lol. pats are gonna be 14-2 unless tom brady contracts GRIDS before the end of the season. their only concern rn is whether or not they have to face denver in the playoffs, which leads me toooooo...
2006 Denver BroncosRecord: 5 - 1 - 0Head Coach: Mike ShanahanPoints scored: 79 (#31 of 32 in the NFL) [!!!!!]Points allowed: 44 (#1 of 32 in the NFL)
with Lepsis gone for the year I was tempted to proclaim them to be FUKKED, i mean you can probz count on one hand the number of left tackles who are better than him. but this game against Indy is gonna be rilly rilly rilly interesting even though i nominally hate both teams with THE HATE OF 1001 HELLS - if the denver d holds its own against wario manning then that could be enough to carry the team a long way.

pats remaining schedule:10/30 8:30 PM @ Vikings 11/5 8:15 PM vs Colts 11/12 1:00 PM vs Jets 11/19 1:00 PM @ Packers 11/26 1:00 PM vs Bears 12/3 1:00 PM vs Lions 12/10 1:00 PM @ Dolphins 12/17 1:00 PM vs Texans 12/24 1:00 PM @ Jaguars 12/31 1:00 PM @ Titans
pats d is better, they're only allowing 13.3 ppg, a td and extra point less per game than indy. indy also seems to have problems stopping the run as evidenced by the 948 yards they've surrendered on the ground. that's almost twice the 503 yards the pats have given up. if it comes down to a big game i'll always take the brady/bruschi/belicheck triumverate over manning and his hang-dog, "what the heck just happened did i blow another big game?" face.

* whatever, Bengals fans.
xpost what does the comment about "where you lose you go home" have to do with the upcoming "big game" on 11/5? I don't think the Pats and Colts will get to the point where they even play each other in the postseason; one of those teams and I am actually betting on the Pats to be that team will be watching from home by second game.

uh, nothing. i don't look at it as a big game. i put it in bold because i didn't realize they were playing this year. more of a surprise than anything else. the "big game" comment goes back to my original point:
"their schedule is a cake walk the rest of the way so if they could play the colts or chargers at home in january i'd take them in a heartbeat."
bold there to indicate what i think is a big game. sorry, kind of scattered today and surely not making much sense.
― otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 17:50 (nineteen years ago)
"You sound exactly like every other fan of any other team that's had to play the Colts this year."
ya lol what were those teams again?
Sep 10 @N.Y. Giants Won 26-21 Sep 17 Houston Won 43-24 Sep 24 Jacksonville Won 21-14 Oct 1 @N.Y. Jets Won 31-28 Oct 8 Tennessee Won 14-13 Week 6 BYE Oct 22 Washington Won 36-22
there's exactly one team on that schedule that I think you could charitably describe as 'good'. I'll say this - booger mcfarland is gonna look a lot better in indy than he did in tampa for the past few years, and the pats secondary is still pretty ugly (Rodney's losing it - just a couple years ago he would've run away with at least 40% of the "league's dirtiest player" vote, not a paltry 23.) both teams r still gunna be in the playoffs tho so who carez.

ally, i think we're pretty much on the same page! like i'm pretty sure neither of us really thinks the pats or the colts are that great right now (i was totally making that point about the pats schedule btw - it's CAKE, which is why they could conceivably be a #2 or #3 seed come playoff time, same with the colts) (tho apparently richard seymour's injury is worse than anyone thought so who knows). shane lechler is obviously the best player in the game, i mean check out dude's madden rating

I just cannot believe my hatred of the rest of the NFC East has me pulling for the Giants in games. I respected the LT, but I freakin' hated the NYG back in the Parcells days. Other than L.T., they were about the most boring good team ever in the NFL. Run the ball left, run the ball right, punt... over and freakin over.
I also like the Viks a bit this year.
I just want the Eagles, Cowboys, Steelers and Skins to all miss the playoffs and I will be happy.
I'm also kind of liking old boy in Miami get his comeuppance with the Dolphins being completely crap. I don't like when tv commentators start calling a coach a "genius" before his team has won diddley crap. LSU is fine, but you know that is the SEC, that is only "kind of like" pro football.
It must be tough being a die hard Cleveland Brown fan these days. The owner steals the team and for joy they come back as the worse team in football.

they installed a state-of-the-art system under the turf that would heat the ground to keep it from freezing and feeling like cement but it wound up killing the grass in the process.
i don't know, it's the same stuff they use in philly's new stadium and i think in seattle. i know u dub has used it for years and the pats indoor practice facilty has it.

NFC is much easier, Giants, New Orleans, Seattle, Chicago barring teams dying in a horrible plane accident or something. Philly & Atlanta as tentative wildcards though I am wondering if GB will make some kind of last ditch run and make it on the basis of Philly & Atlanta sucking so badly.

Well, for one thing, San Diego plays Denver twice, and their defense is in shambles right now. That would be a solid way to fuck things up. But if Denver is going to keep playing down to their competition, I don't think it will matter much.
