what suxx is i'm not even completely sure it's blocked - i know it definitely used to work but now it just doesn't load, i get a yellow yield triangle with an exclamation point. everything that's definitely blocked by websense (ffl, myspace, craigslist casual encounters) something will pop up saying 'nuh uh! - websense'. w/ youtube it just does nothing and it's not like i can go complain to my boss 'hey i'm having a little trouble slacking on the job here - a lil help?'.

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

The trick is to find elements of your job that are hindered by the program and complain about that. I work for an art school and our censoring program would filter out things with "nude" in them. Uh, not gonna work, fellas.

blount & otto, here's a tip from an acquaintance of mine who's a "penetration tester," i.e. he tests web security by hacking for hire.

"A good trick, but that will show up in your employer's proxy logs no doubt, is to go to Google's translation page and ask it to change the target page from Japanese to English. As there's no Japanese text on the target page it'll just display the original text...but you'll have made a connection to Google, and Google will have made a connection with [target page], so your work filters will be relatively happy."

I don't know if that'll help you around the roadblocks or not, but it sounds worth a try.

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 28 September 2006 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

most disappointing thing about that clip is that I have zero recollection of ESPN2 from that era when they wanted to be MTV.

milo z (mlp), Thursday, 28 September 2006 03:06 (nineteen years ago)

Remember when ESPN2 introduced "the crawl" ... ESPN2 used to be this wasteland that nobody cared about EXCEPT if you wanted an up-to-date score, then you would turn to "the deuce" as long as it took to get your score update.

But Warner said he never thought he had lost the job because he hadn't heard it from his Savior Jesus Christ.

“I was looking into that MySpace.com, and somebody did it for me. I think that was pretty cool.”

– Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, on a website which is campaigning for his firing

Scott Fajita :( (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 28 September 2006 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

Jeff Fisher is not a bad coach, he just should have gotten wise and bailed two or three years ago instead of sticking around. The Tennessee Oilers ownership is not exactly the brightest in the league.

Most of the time when a player cranks off about not getting the ball I think they are pretty much full of crap, but I think this time The Edge might have a point with how they are using him in Arizona. James got bunches of his yards later in games with the Colts going from bombs away to clock control.

Kurt Warner let his success go to his head and turned into a total knob. Ever since he hurt his hand a few seasons back the dude cannot hold onto a football.

jonathan quayle higgins (j.q. higgins), Monday, 2 October 2006 12:23 (nineteen years ago)

Hopefully it's Ian Eagle and Solomon Wilcots. I was watching their broadcast Sunday when TEH WISDOM OF SOLOMON was presented. It consisted solely of Solomon reciting who the second string QB's were that replaced their respective starters.

dude, tony eason no. champaign tony was booed out of new england. replaced by the heart and soul of the pats, STEVE GROGAN. i remember in about 81 or '82 grogan's knees were so bad that he couldn't play. so against the 49ers matt cavanaugh started and got knocked out. grogan was so immobile he took EVERY SNAP from the shot gun, even the running plays because he couldn't take two steps, turn, and hand the ball off. one snap came in too low and grogan couldn't bend to pick it up. i remember my dad remarking that he was "gonna get fucking killed out there". but he stayed out there, something champaign tony would never do.

i really don't have the attachment or the knowledge so i'll take your word for it. i only say "yes!" as in the forgotten qbs of my (our?) youth. someone might have a larf on my ass re: jay schroeder and doug williams or the skins awesome scabs (huh huh), but i'd say count the rings, fool!

i really have no defense for john friesz, jeff george, tony banks, the wuerffler, etc.

When you talk about those Washington QBs, why the heck is Art Monk not in the Hall of Fame? That dude was freaking tough and a BIG reason it did not matter who was playing QB for the Skins.

certainly part of it, but that's almost more of a reason to elect the hogs en masse. two more words to back up my argument: timmy smith!

actually, there's a great story from that super bowl against the broncos. apparently, after bugel and gibbs deconstructed their d, the hogs were actually calling out the running plays on the line and mecklenberg, rulon jones & co were powerless to stop them. also, watch almost any game from the last super bowl season. the kind of time rypien has is ridiculous. for my money, i think gary clark is the receiver that gets the shaft. that guy was fearless over the middle!

None of the Hogs are in the hall either...so they perhaps are also getting the shaft. They were all pretty good especially Mark May and Russ Grimm, but Joe Jacoby was a freak of nature back in those days. Funny thing is like the Fridge, ten years later there was bunches of players that size. Offensive linemen in general seem to get kind of a backseat to the HOF or at least have to wait quite a few years longer.

Monk will go into the hall this year, most likely.
