Dang! It's too early yet to even create a league and stuff, but who's in this year? My rookie season was awful, but this year I'm gonna be a muddafuggin GENIUS!

thanks johnny caravella!
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
Nice to see, but can't we draft actual defensive players? That was missing last year and I'd like to have it back (no pun intended).
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)
Sure I can change that up.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)
I added 1 DB and 1 DL position. I've never played with individual defensive players before, so this should be fun. I just kept all of the settings the same as last year originally, except I changed some of the points and the playoff system. (All td's are now 7 instead of 6, playoffs are 3 weeks, but include 6 teams...)
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)
cool, i'll log in at home where it isn't blocked and check it out. thanks for doing this.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
Why are TDs 7? Making it really TD-based is sort of sucky I feel, 'cos they're basically luck - I'd rather see them at 3 or 4?
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
Also that would give people a chance outside whatever ends up being the RB big three, if the LDT weren't posting 18 points more than your replacement-level Warrick Dunns every week or whatever?
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)
td's should be six.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 19:03 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, I'll change them back.

― sunny successor, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
No hardcoreness required. You can even let it autodraft for you if you don't wanna sit through a live draft. It would be nice if you hung around the whole season, though, in case someone wants to make a trade with you or something.

And that's twelve. I'm gonna get whupped this year, aren't i? Thank god my girl is patient with my football addiction. I think we're gonna haveta get tivo this year. Anybody on here wanna sing the virtues of tivo for the sportswatcher?
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 27 July 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)
Four more league spots available. Anything more than 16 teams would pretty much exhaust the draft/post-draft player pool, right?
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 July 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)
Agreed. A twelve man league means everybody gets a ton of talent (at least one solid qb/rb and two good receivers per team) and it becomes a serious punch em up. Either way can be fun.
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 27 July 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)
okay i signed up :[
― cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)
Should we cut it off, at 12, so everyone kicks ass this year? It might not be such a bad thing (except I'm not sure everyone who's said they wanted in is actually in yet).
chicago kevin, where'd you go?!
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 July 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)
i have a few demands requests tho!!!!!!!
-points per reception please -one or two more bench spots -replace "fumbles lost" (fumble recovery is non-predictive) with simply fumbles (something that the player actually has control over)
― cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)
i like bigger leagues cuz u gotta plumb the depths to fill out ur roster but i am cool with it either way. also more ppl means fewer ILXors excluded! those whimpering buttbabies on ILB always fill up their league w/o me ;_;
― cankles, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)
-replace "fumbles lost" (fumble recovery is non-predictive) with simply fumbles (something that the player actually has control over)
But why should a player (QB) lose 2 points if the fumble is recovered? People fumble, it happens, but it only really makes a difference if it's a turnover.
-points per reception please
RBs don't get extra points per handoff, so WRs shouldn't get points per catch.
-one or two more bench spots
Under consideration, but I'd really like to have the live draft not go on through the following day.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, there are now 9 bench spots. You can either fill them all or leave a couple blank. It's up to the individual player.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 July 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)
we don't need nine, i was just concerned that there were more roster spots than bench spots? bcz everyone would have to go w/o a backup for at least one position. it's not a huge deal tho
lolllllllll what. i just-- what.
catching balls is a wideout's job. i mean, that is like the #1 thing you want a WR to be able to do: catch hell of balls. the handoff is more analogous to, like, whether or not the WR gets a clean release at the line, except you can't keep track of that. also it increases the value of backs that are more active as receivers.
dang, we are like bizarro fantasy football players cuz u r a mystery 2 me. QBs fumble more than anyone bcz of their vulnerability so maybe they shouldnt be punished for that, but various players have been/are known for their issues protecting the ball - but no player is known for their elite fumble-recovering skills, because it's impossible to predict which way it's gonna bounce. i just h8 stats that have nothing to do with the player's production or stuff that's completely random~
oh man i feel like such a giant dbag rn
― cankles, Saturday, 28 July 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)
impeach reggie bush is in!
― hstencil, Saturday, 28 July 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)
Wideouts get points based on yardage already, though, and to get that yardage they have to catch passes that are thrown to them. I don't see why they need an extra point per reception or whatever. Plus, a stat like that is nearly useless for players on teams where the QB spreads the ball around, and would totally favor spotlight players who get the majority of the passes.
And if we're going to really analyze the fumble this way, maybe it should be a null scoring category. You fumble, you don't gain or lose any points at all. Fumbling is an inevitability, right?
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 28 July 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)
Yay stence!
That makes 13...three open spots left.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 28 July 2007 03:30 (eighteen years ago)
yeah i was gonna say, let's just do away with fumbles altogether. they are too ~*controversial*~
uhhh, the current system already favors 'spotlight' players!!! guys aren't getting 1k+ receiving yards and ten touchdowns if they're the QB's third option. and the running back by committee is as popular as ever right now, making true feature backs more rare (and thus wayyy more valuable). if anything the reason i like PPR is *because* it gives more value to marginal players like slot receivers and third-string running backs. even guys like jason witten, a talented pro-bowl TE who caught a lot of balls last year but didnt score much, are suddenly more valuable. if your team has crappy RB depth and you need someone for the W/R spot, the guy you end up with will probably be worth 1-2 points a week and maybe have 3-400 all-purpose yards at the end of the season. add a few receptions in tho and suddenly they are kind of useful.
― cankles, Saturday, 28 July 2007 04:17 (eighteen years ago)
do away with fumbles altogether? but they are such a great part of the game!
― hstencil, Saturday, 28 July 2007 12:01 (eighteen years ago)
ok people Resulting Paste is here
― brownie, Saturday, 28 July 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)
btw, Banjo is the name of my pit bull. He enjoys eating delicious Michael Vick burgers. Given the chance, I'm gonna draft him in the aftermath and let him ride the pine all year.
― forksclovetofu, Saturday, 28 July 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)
We stand at 14, which is what we had last year. Two spots remain.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)
Also!! There's been a request to push the live draft date by someone who'll be travelling 8/19. Is Saturday 8/25 alright with everyone?

Points-per-reception, aka The Keyshawn Rule, is an interesting one to me. I agree that possession receivers and backfield threats are underrated in traditional fantasy scoring (unless they are Brian Westbrook, who is both a backfield threat AND a possession receiver)... I'd be willing to try this out (pretty much a guarantee that it will bite me in the ass).
Fumbles, I sez no change of possession, no harm, no foul, no -2. This will also come back to bite me on the ass.
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 31 July 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)
If the league comes up 1 short, pencil me in if you lot are ok with me letting Yahoo pick a team. And if two other people want in, I'm happy to defer to them.

― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 31 July 2007 21:24 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, le draft de automatique.
As long as you pack your pre-draft ranking with everyone you want, you'll probably do fine.

fuck, the recital is 1 to 3 and it will take me 90 minutes to get up to evanston on a sunday. plus there's an awesome show the night before and undoubtedly an afterparty so there's a huge chance i won't be coherent enough for the draft or the recital.

We didn't have individual defense player stats last year, so I was just winging it.
Draft order is random and will be determined by computer shortly before the draft starts.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 19 August 2007 02:56 (eighteen years ago)
No worries.. just curious. Man... 16 teams w/IDP = this is going to be a long draft!
― rogermexico., Sunday, 19 August 2007 07:55 (eighteen years ago)
I set most all IDP points to 2, but left shared tackles at 1. Long? Yeah, I'm ordering a pizza.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 19 August 2007 07:57 (eighteen years ago)
I'm gonna go get chicken and waffles and then set up at the computer for a three hour draft with my loving pit bull. Afterwards, it's Madden wii. Life is good.

so, who do we think has the best team (besides your own)? I think Keystone Krunchers can be deadly if his team stays healthy.
― t0dd swiss, Sunday, 19 August 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)
hard to say yet, because there's going to be some serious IDP free agency raiding before the season begins.

dunn's gonna catch more passes this year (supposedly) so he'd be good for a PPR league oh wait

Mexico picked right in front of me and sniped my preferred pick twice and then heartbroke me in the second round.
1. (7) Rudi Johnson - Wanted Joseph Addai, but Rudi was sixth on my depth chart anyway; past drafts I've shied away from building a team on a reliable RB and regretted the hell out of it. Really enjoyed watching him play last year and wanted him.
2. (26) Reggie Wayne - hard to argue with + elite wr quickly disappearing by the second round due to some odd autopick stuff. Hoped against hope that my mancrush player Brandon "the giant that runs like a man" Jacobs would make it back around, then promptly lost him in the next pick SOB SOB SOB
3. (39) Deuce McAllister - last of my top twenty backs left on the board, though I would've preferred Colston. A tetch gun shy on this pick: not entirely sure I believe th' Deuce has another 1000 yd/10td year in his quiver but I'd dearly love for him to prove me wrong.
4. (58) Terry Glenn - Third year in a row with me and Glenn; I really like him to rebound with an even stronger season in 08 when TO's operating system seizes up and he begins publicly arguing with new coach/sodomizing Romo/doing sit ups in the huddle.
5. (71) Jon Kitna - Elite QB's picked over and I took a chance on a player who I've never seen take a snap. The buzz is good, but it's DETROIT and I simply do not trust eggs in this basket. I'd say QB is my weakest position right now; I really need Kitna to come through with a defining season or I'm gonna be doing a lot of waiver wire crawling.
6. (90) Vincent Jackson - Everyone's favorite sleeper, the charger's #1 receiver and my new favorite Madden receiver; dude played a game last year with a bone poking through his hand. I look forward to him playing a full game without a head. 7. (103) San Diego - Rush on defenses (in the fifth round?!?!) + solid 3wr and 2rbs = me taking my 4th pick team defense in the seventh. I blame peer pressure.
8. (122) LaMont Jordan - 40% chance of "steal of the draft", 40% chance of "dumped in the fifth week and reviled", 20% chance of "fucking with my head all season with drastically inconsistent play". Place yer bets!
9. (135) Amani Toomer - I just need one giant or jet on the team so I have an incentive to watch the home games. Toomer is feast or famine and he's due for a good year, mehopes.
10. (154) Ron Dayne - I feel good about Dayne becoming Houston's goal line back; I think I may end up falling back on Ron in the W/R position when/if Lamont fractures his spleen.
11. (167) Desmond Clark - The last "name" TE on the board that I trust.
12. (186) Jake Delhomme - One more Jake? Jake? Jake, are you breathing? Jake? I'd still rather have him than Grossman, Leftwich, Favre and Pennington.
13. (199) Olindo Mare - He kicks balls.
14. (218) Chris Henry - I drafted this guy KNOWING that he was in some sort of trouble and then discovered that he's serving an eight game suspension, so he promptly got dumped in favor of Antonio Pierce.
15. (231) Marcus Pollard - maybe if shaun has a comeback season, the ball will get shared a bit? I like to have two starting TEs.
16. (250) Troy Polamalu - Lotsa tackles, very fast 17. (263) Zach Thomas - ditto 18. (282) Ronde Barber - see above

Hopefully, for you, Schaub will throw to Owen Daniels in the end zone as much as Carr liked to.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
News: "After Matt Schaub hit TE Owen Daniels for 45 yards on three catches at Arizona, he told the Houston Chronicle that he's going to have an eye for Daniels this season. "I've always liked throwing to my tight ends," Schaub said. "They can be an incredible asset in the middle of the field. It keeps the safeties back and helps open up the running game." Analysis: "Daniels is officially in the conversation as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE. Because the Texans run the west-coast offense, he'll get a lot of receptions. Look for him as a late-round steal in all leagues this season."
oh, yeah!

ya rly - i'm prepared to forfeit Week 1 based on name alone
― rogermexico., Thursday, 30 August 2007 06:21 (eighteen years ago)
i don't think i got hosed. i had the depth at RB to trade barber. and i also think julius jones may get a few of those goal line carries that barber had last season. and mike furrey is certainly not going to have the same kind of numbers he finished with last season, now that calvin johnson is around. i was willing to part with those two in order to make a significant upgrade to my team of WRs, which is exactly what houshmandzadeh does. he's only going to improve on last season's stats w/o chris henry around for the first ten weeks. trust me. it's not going to be tab perry that gets all those additional throws. and defenses can't double t.j. with chad johnson on the other side of the field. i think this trade was good for both teams involved, which is how it should be.
― MikeJonze, Thursday, 30 August 2007 13:56 (eighteen years ago)
I'm counting on Tab to get short routes (a lot of them)...well, on the bye weeks of my better receivers anyway.

That's a good question I don't even know the answer to. For anyone who's curious, it's a trade of Dwayne Jarrett/Dante Hall for Dwayne Bowe.
brownie, it doesn't show you having accepted yet. Just says it's still pending.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 30 August 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

― brownie, Thursday, 30 August 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)
inconsequential trade. no review necessary IMO. all three of those guys will spend time on the waiver wire this season.
― MikeJonze, Thursday, 30 August 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)
Hall's useful in this league, at least, because runback yardage counts.
On my end, Bowe looks to be the chief (no pun intended) counter receiver to Kennison.

― forksclovetofu, Monday, 10 September 2007 05:31 (eighteen years ago)
two days w/out internet is a crippling thing without a waiver order - do we have, like, 100% free agency all the time in this league?
― rogermexico., Wednesday, 12 September 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)
birdfingers vs. lawn wranglers should be a good one this week.
― Rock Hardy, Sunday, 16 September 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)
so wait we gotta pay to see teh scorez now? that's just cold.
― rogermexico., Sunday, 16 September 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)
Yah, sucks. I had it last year and I'll probably spring for it again this year when I've got a spare 10 bucks.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)
wtf BROWNS?!!!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)
ok fuck you jp losman.
― Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)
on the behalf of lee evans that is.
― Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)
xxpost -- oops, wrong thread.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)
so some fantasy advice needed, i have been proposed derrick ward for roy williams. my inclination is to say no, though i kinda hate how i seemingly never accept trades in fantasy leagues. what does ilnfl think? yeah i thought so. naw just kidding, please tell me what to do.
also my team sucks. in my other league i'm not doing so bad today though.
― hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
who are your other rbs/wrs, how many do you start, etc.?
― Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)
I'd be inclined to accept that one, for the simple fact that WRs are either feast or famine and RBs at least get you some number of points every week
But as JS says above, I don't know anything else about your roster.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:56 (eighteen years ago)
but i'd be inclined to say yes as well if you want to use ward as a 3rd rb or if you guys have a rb/wr spot.
hes good for at least 70 yds a game i'd imagine, plus 1-2 tds every game or two.
― Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)
I HAT U CARNELL WILLIAMS. I HAD U LAST YEAR AND YOU SUCKED!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)
This is so awesome, Brees has matched his -1 points from last week. Way to go, hi fives!
― Rock Hardy, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)
Do any of you guys play in other non-Yahoo leagues where the live scoring is FREE? If so, I say we relocate ILNFL next year.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)
cosign dat
― Rock Hardy, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)
I'm in a CBS sportsline league where live scoring is free. Can't remember if there's a cost for the league itself, but I don't think so...
― rogermexico., Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)
my team, impeach reggie bush '07:
vince young qb t.o. wr roy williams wr kevin curtis wr shaun "homoclap" alexander rb chester taylor rb jason witten te derrick mason wr j.p. losman qb (bench) tony hunt rb (bench) lorenzo booker rb (bench) kevin walter wr (bench) david thomas te (bench) jason elam k dallas d cincy d (bench) justin miller db mel mitchell db
― hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
i much prefer espn fantasy football to yahoo, btw.
my team in that league is rollin' 70-31 right now.
this is a terrible team. i would do the trade and hope to pick up a hot random wr who catches fire. obvi you can't go at it starting chester taylor much longer.
― Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)
DOES ESPN HAVE LIVE SCORING FOR FREE?
I just looked at NFL.com/CBS league setup and it looks like there's a 12-team max for private leagues and the scoring seems to be predetermined (no customization).
Will look at ESPN now.
If enough people agree, maybe we can switch before Week 3?
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)
Nix ESPN...custom league creation is already closed for the season. :(
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)
espn has live scoring for free, yes.
switching over this season would be too complicated/stupid.
― hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)
You're right...plus a couple people have already given Yahoo their $10. I'd hate to waste their monies.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)
people paid for this shit?
― hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:50 (eighteen years ago)
I AM SOLICITING YOUR ADVICE, FANTASY NERDS, STILL.
― hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)
You have two go votes for a trade.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)
I have run into a buzzsaw this week, and its name is Braylon Edwards
― rogermexico., Sunday, 16 September 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)
Dammit, I left Bowe on the bench. :(
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 16 September 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)
fuck you, carson palmer. loser
― mookieproof, Sunday, 16 September 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

thx!
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)
some of those scores are going to be adjusted - I know I'm credited with some unearned points there, not sure why...
― rogermexico., Monday, 17 September 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)
PS tanquerat lewises looking for Akers' leg to deliver the come-from-behind victory tomorrow. Whoever takes that one, sucks to be (possibly) the week's second-highest scorer and lose yr game.
― rogermexico., Monday, 17 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
I know that since the league gives tackle points to IDPs this year, everyone who makes a tackle (solo or assist) gets points added later.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 01:09 (eighteen years ago)
Thank god for IDPs, assuming my QB never shows up for work.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 17 September 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)
I'm more perplexed by M. Colston's 70 yards +TD being good for 15 points...
― rogermexico., Monday, 17 September 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, I concede the season.
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 17 September 2007 02:18 (eighteen years ago)
as do i, ocho cinco cant catch a break...im so changing my team name.
― johnny crunch, Monday, 17 September 2007 03:05 (eighteen years ago)
That's weird about Colston. They're crediting him with one Rec TD and one Rush TD, but that ain't right.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 17 September 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)
Not that it matters. I have no answer for the unstoppable force that is Braylon Edwards.
― rogermexico., Monday, 17 September 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)
They'll sort it out at about 3am EDT when they do the final scoring update.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 03:23 (eighteen years ago)
my sex boat is full of all-stars this week! also, Minnesota Defense is going to score a TD every week this year!

It's probably because your IDPs are shitty.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)
Dump your DBs and pick up some linebackers.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

i need clinton portis to score tonight ;_;
― mookieproof, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)
I need McNabb to throw for 3 tds and have no interceptions tonight. That's a tall order with the Washington D this year. :(
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 17 September 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
Larry Johnson and Ronnie Brown are murdering my $ team. I am never picking good players from crappy teams again.

I've got both Cutler and Garrard in a two QB league with Palmer in the first slot. With Jax at Denver, I'm leaning toward Cutler, but they've both been playing like little sleepy squirrels lately.
― Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)
Unfortunately for my MJ-Drew, the Jags have been concentrating on the passing game so far this year. As much as it pains me to recommend it, go with Garrard.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)
Ha. Tell that to Matt Jones.
― Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)
When I heard "That's Aker's fourth field goal" something in my head went "Wait a second..."
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)
Just like last year, my roster is weak at the QB position. I'm starting Campbell over McNabb in week 3, even though they're both going against defenses this week that resemble swiss cheese (WAS vs NYG/PHI vs DET). If one of them doesn't step up and get me some points (they're at 11 and 10 for the year, respectively), I'm gonna eat my own head.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 07:40 (eighteen years ago)
i think that i am going to lose this week :(
― t0dd swiss, Sunday, 23 September 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)
ooooh, if I had two wunning backs you would all be in trouble grrr
― rogermexico., Sunday, 23 September 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, somehow autodrafting stocked me with wr's and eff'ed me with rb's
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)
i haven't even really paid attention to my team. oh well.
― hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)
i beat you is all you really need to know ;D
― brownie, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)
stence, if that's going to be the case, do you feel like offloading T.O.?
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)
maybe.
― hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, I proposed a trade that would only be considerable if you plan on forfeiting your ilnfl season. ;)
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)
be serious.
― hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)
Well, like I said...it was only a pipedream trade if you plan on abandoning yr team.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)
How good do I feel about reversing my QB start back to McNabb right now?!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)
fu Ronnie Brown
― rogermexico., Sunday, 23 September 2007 22:42 (eighteen years ago)
Johnny Fever I hate you, you might have the single highest fantasy score ever this week!
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)
oops sorry, wrong league; my other team is up against a dude with BOTH McNabb AND Westbrook in his starting lineup. This week I'm losing to someone else.
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:33 (eighteen years ago)
I don't have the stattracker, so I have no idea. chicago kevin got 120 last week.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:35 (eighteen years ago)
Just be glad the guy in your other league doesn't have Curtis too.
(I have him in my other league, but left him riding the bench ;_;)
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:36 (eighteen years ago)
Following the Dallas game; basically, these are the final scores. No one who's losing could realistically come back with even a solid monday night performance.

sweet! first stop on the comeback trail, baby!
― hstencil, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:32 (eighteen years ago)
HOT DAMN 138!!!
I can't see my actual points yet, but I bet it has to do with McNabb, the NE defense, Matt Stover and my IDPs Ryans and Willis.
My RBs and WRs are average at best.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)
127, alright.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)
JF, you got 23 points from Ryans and 13 from Peterson.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)
Man do I love DeMeco Ryans! (roll tide!)
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:49 (eighteen years ago)
with updated points, I'm within striking distance if Vince Young has a horrible game and Reggie Bush has an amazing one (hahahahahahahaha oh never mind)
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 24 September 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)
Well, the Saints haven't played at home yet. Maybe that's what wrong with them?
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, westbrook was helpful.
― j.q higgins, Monday, 24 September 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)
of my 127 points i think ronny brown got me 118 of them. odd, because he killed me in my other league.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
hahaha, you guys, if I ever get a real QB I'll be awes.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 13:41 (eighteen years ago)

― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 30 September 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)
Ally and Hynes have apparently abandoned their teams, so anyone playing them should have a guaranteed win.

― Johnny Fever, Monday, 1 October 2007 03:25 (eighteen years ago)

THANKS DONOVAN, YR CAN OF CHUNKY SOUP IS IN THE MAIL
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 1 October 2007 13:09 (eighteen years ago)
housh vs. vrabel, to decide the lawn wranglers vs. tanqueray lewises matchup. go TJ!
― MikeJonze, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)
My draft is starting to look really depressing: two of my top four picks are done for the season (Terry Glenn and Deuce) and my number one pick is gimpy and underproductive (Rudi).
If Kitna had thrown for THREE MORE FUCKING YARDS, I'd be up seven points instead of two and have half a chance at winning this week.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)
I'm sort of happy with my roster the way it is right now, and could probably win most weeks if I just wasn't benching the WRONG PLAYERS!

If you'd played your optimal lineup and I played the same guys, we'd be tied going into tonight's game, with me done and you with Welker's points still to come. (StatTracker might be a little bit of a ripoff, but it does have tasty info-on-the-fly like that.) I missed out on 18 points, myself. (Kaeding, Furrey, KC-DEF)

waitasec: only the top SIX teams do the playoffs? Really? Not the top eight?
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 8 October 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, I thought that was screwy too, but three playoff weeks with six teams was the most I could squeeze out of the Yahoo set-up. I think there were only three choices re: playoffs and that was the most inclusive.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 8 October 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)
That's crazy (on Yahoo's part, I guess), since two teams get a bye in the first playoff week. It wouldn't take any longer to go from eight teams than six teams to a winner.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 8 October 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)
PLAYOFFS??? Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win another game!!
― rogermexico., Monday, 8 October 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Damn, my home email picked a bad day to go down. But no, that doesn't sound too cool.
xpost -- I think Ally tanked the season even before the draft.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)
Fellas, they were out there for the asking, because it was obvious to everyone that Ally orphaned her team early on. All I did was propose it to her just like any of you could've done anytime you wanted. :P

Seriously though dude, all due respect, it's not cool to pillage a fantasy player who tanks for choice bits. All leagues frown on that.

troof
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 9 October 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)
Well, it's not like I'm buring up the standings as it is (I'm 2-3-0), thanks to a bunch of B-list receivers and hot/cold running backs. My only strength before this trade was my IDPs and one week of McNabb going crazy with the pass.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)
wtf aren't we supposed to get veto votes on that?
― bnw, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)
Well, it's not like I'm buring up the standings as it is (I'm 2-3-0)
Though you are #3 in points...
Anyhoo, trade for like value and it's not an issue.

Okay, but we're still vetoing this one.

yeah, that's a garbage trade. no denying it.
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 01:56 (eighteen years ago)
C'mon people, it's not like I traded her Rex Grossman and Vernon Davis. Campbell exists somewhere in the middle of the QB pack and Heap is in the upper class of TE's.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 01:59 (eighteen years ago)
almost, man. everyone knows palmer is the best QB in the game behind brady & manning and gates is unquestionably head and shoulders above any other TE in the league. campbell's on the waiver wire in another league i'm playing in. todd heap could be considered a top 5 tight end, but he is also battling injury. srsly, any league that allowed voting on trades, this would get squashed unanimously. this is why all of us other owners are livid.
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 02:10 (eighteen years ago)
Well, chalk it up to my inexperience then. I didn't know it was a fantasy taboo.
I'm still not getting rid of them, though.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)
I just tried to change it from commissioner approval to league approval, but that had to have been set before the season. :(
Everybody HATES me!

Hate is such a strong word. I don't hate you, but I would drop your favorite shoes in a bucket of piss.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 02:39 (eighteen years ago)
No! Not my Pony 74 Starters!
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 02:43 (eighteen years ago)
Yes, those very shoes. And that's just because I've already played you and won. If I were one of the nine teams coming up for you, I'd drop all of your shoes into the piss, and then upper deck your toilet.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 02:50 (eighteen years ago)
No one on here believes that's a "like value" trade; a fair trade might have been campbell and heap for gates, but only barely. My guess is that those were her "can't cut" players in any case.
I'd propose that all of Ally's players go entirely off limits for this year to everyone except her and ally trades back those players. Otherwise, it's hand in the cookie jar for whoever dips.
I really don't want to be all "SERIOUS BUSINESS" on here, but I for one devote WAY too much time to fantasy to feel comfortable with this kind of inconsistency in the genepool. 2-3 at the start of the season could easily turn into 7-5 in December. Furthermore, the heat of Bengals and Chargers teams fighting to make the playoffs will almost certainly make those two players incredibly necessary and hot at the end of the season.
Be fair, commish. Convene a vote on the ILNFL board and abide with the outcome.
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)
Trading them back seems fair and right to me.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, here's what I'll do...
I'm keeping Palmer, but I'll trade McNabb to someone who lost a starting QB already and had to settle for an unreliable starter.
I'll trade Gates for a utilitarian TE and a semi-productive WR combo to someone who's already stocked up on awesome receivers and has a TE to spare.
Does this sound fair? I'm not going to bother Ally with this again, as she's obviously occupied with other things. B this way, the impact of these players entering the pool again is lessened and maybe a couple people who are hurting can get a little bump.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)
B? But, rather.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)
and had to settle for an unreliable starter.
I'll give you Brees for him, lol
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)
I've proposed McNabb to Sex Boat All-Stars for Kurt Warner and Gates to Shark Week for Shockey (without the earlier WR qualifier...just a straight TE/TE trade). Even QB trade, weighted TE trade, sound good?
Of course, they don't have to take these trades, but I just thought I'd throw them out there.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)
ugh...just quit playing dumb & innocent and instead play fair and reset everything to the state it was in pre-trade. i thought this would be a serious league when i signed up. if not, i'll quickly be done with it. do i really need to bring up a previous incident?

FUCK!
1. The only other league I've ever played in EVER was ILNFL last year, and trades were reviewed by commissioner, right? They were, iirc. I didn't know that league approval was such a big fucking deal.
2. See above. I also didn't know that trading with orphaned teams was a big fucking deal either, as I distinctly remember doing it last year when blount was having his fantasy firesale because he was going to ditch his season (and I wasn't the only one).
3. You all need to quit busting my fucking balls on something I did that seemed perfectly sensible at the time. Frankly, I couldn't believe no one had offered Ally a trade before I did...NOW I know why, but at that time I didn't.
4. I've offered to fix this as best as I can without undoing the trade altogether, so get the fuck over it.

Fever: When you get in these people when you...get these people in, say: "Look, the problem is that this will open the whole, the whole ILNFL thing, and the Commissioner just feels that" ah, without going into the details... don't, don't lie to them to the extent to say there is no involvement, but just say this is sort of a comedy of errors, bizarre, without getting into it, "the Commissioner believes that it is going to open the whole ILNFL thing up again. And, ah because these people are plugging for, for keeps and that they should call the FBI in and say that we wish for ILE, don't go any further into this case", period!
Cankles: OK
Fever: That's the way to put it, do it straight (Unintelligible)
Cankles: Get more done for our cause by the opposition than by us at this point.
Fever: You think so?
Cankles: I think so, yeah.

I'm out of the pool on the issue at this point; this is kinda wack.
But onward to week 6.

ILNFL: teh * season
― rogermexico., Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)
hey, man. i'm done arguing about it. if conniving your way to winning a few more games in this bogus league helps you feel better about yourself and sleep better at night, then go for it. but don't try to tell me you were powerless to go and switch it back. you're the commish. you have the control to make roster moves for any of our teams. anyway, i'll be trying to win it fair & square. in the meantime, i haven't forgotten what happened in week 2.
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)
I'm done bitching about this particular fuckup, but I have a question for next year. If trades are set to league approval instead of commish approval, does it take majority approval or unanimous approval for it to go through?
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
^^think it can be fixed at a certain percentage. i seem to recall being in other leagues where 1/3 disapproval could axe a trade..
last/only thing i'll say: that's total bullshit if you didn't think or can't see why everyone has a problem with this...speaking for myself but probably/hopefully most folks perspective is not that you just thought of this first and beat dudes to the punch but that i would never consider proposing some ripoff trade to someone else who's all but quit the league...if you think that's 'sensible' that's pretty effed, man..
― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)
Johnny Fever has apologized and is moved on.
But to put this painful incident behind us once and for all plz change team name to CHEATING CHEATMASTERS before going all Belichuckles on league kthx.

Pickpocketfingers
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)
Ooh, I do like Belichuckles!
Next year, I <i>will not</i> be the commissioner...no way, no how! However, yeah...I think the Yahoo! standard for league approved trades is 1/3 disapproval and is probably the same in other fantasy leagues too.
However, I still have absolutely no ethical pains over making that trade with Ally. If someone else had done it, I'd just say "d'oh!" and move on sort of upset that I didn't think of it first. This league approval stuff is for the birds, but if everyone else wants it that way then who am I to bitch about it? I'd never vote yes or no on a trade. If someone's willing to take a running back who has 3 yards all season for someone like Ronnie Brown (just for example), that's his/her own cross to bear. I don't see why all the other players in the league feel entitled to have veto rights over something like that. Even before this, I had no intention of ever squashing a trade, no matter how lopsided it might have been.
And Jonzey, you sure are fucking cranky for someone who's already beat me this year. Let it go.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)
Dude, it's like you think this is "Survivor: ILNFL" and you can form a coalition with another manager! I know you think that it's not collusion if you're making a deal with a manager who doesn't give a shit one way or another, but the rest of us were under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that this is a mano-a-mano competition of draft, FA and start-em/sit-em smarts.
― Rock Hardy, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)
the rest of us were under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that this is a mano-a-mano competition of draft, FA and start-em/sit-em smarts
Yeah, and that's how I've perceived it all along too. I'm not in a coalition with Ally or anyone else. I went after players I wasn't even sure I'd get, but then I did. Thirteen other people had the same opportunity. I still don't think it was wrong or cheating or poor sportsmanship, no matter how many times anyone says it is. Trades are just as much a part of fantasy as the draft, free agency, waivers and starting/sitting smarts are, and if you don't think a trade someone's offered you makes any sense then you're free to squash it. However, I think it's fucked if other managers have a village mentality about it and fuss about having yes/no power over a transaction between two individual managers. Lovie Smith doesn't have a say about a trade between Cleveland and Carolina, so wtf!
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:38 (eighteen years ago)
However, I still have absolutely no ethical pains over making that trade with Ally. If someone else had done it, I'd just say "d'oh!" and move on sort of upset that I didn't think of it first.
JF, I'm over it except for the roffles, but the issue here is apparently Fantasy Football n00bness. No one else thought of it because it's UNTHINKABLE. It's not that it's just lopsided. It's a major breach of etiquette, which is why we've all been waving our hankies about it. Like farting in church or dropping in on someone else's wave - just not done.
This league approval stuff is for the birds, but if everyone else wants it that way then who am I to bitch about it? I'd never vote yes or no on a trade. Have you ever participated in a fantasy league that wasn't free?
Not every participant in a lopsided trade is actually trying to improve their own team.
― rogermexico., Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)
Note that the etiquette breach is not the lopsided trade qua lopsided trade; it's making a lopsided trade with an abandoned team.
― rogermexico., Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)
And I frankly don't need league approval - then you just get people voting against trades based on their own matchups!
― rogermexico., Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)
Lovie doesn't, but Goodell does, and I think you forgot at the worst moment that you wear two hats in this league. (xxxpost)

― Rock Hardy, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, so because I'm a manager AND the commissioner I have to suffer in the W/L column rather than make advantageous trades?
I get NOW that trading with a dead team is poor form, alright. I mean, I get that it is, but I still don't get why it is.

― brownie, Friday, 12 October 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)
It's taking every bit of willpower I have not to start Brees instead of Garcia.
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)
Brees is having a great season! If his line starts blocking and any receivers other than Colston start catching the ball the Saints will be back in business...
― rogermexico., Friday, 12 October 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)
Last I looked, Brees has 9 INTs. Can't blame all of that on the line.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 12 October 2007 20:48 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, he's spending every dollar he earns, fantasy-points-wise. Meanwhile, Little Jeffie is pick-less. I can't help thinking Brees is going to break out big one of these weeks and I'm going to have him on the bench, but thinking like that is why I don't bet on ponies or dogs, or blackjack, or slot machines, or dice or roulette wheels.
Plus, depending on Brees kinda means having to depend on Devery Henderson, and he gave me The Fear last weekend.
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)
for the record, Jason Campbell (who I traded away) is doing better than either Palmer or McNabb right now.

ha! You're team's not as bad as you think it is, for sure. Hasselbeck will have a good week picking the Rams apart, the Colts are back from a bye and Manning's just been itching to throw to Clark for nearly two weeks. Just dump Hackett and pick up a one week kicker and you'll be 4-3-0 this time next week.

― Johnny Fever, Monday, 5 November 2007 01:39 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, in the espn league i'm in we only start one running back though. well one rb one rb/wr flex, then two wideouts, a qb, te, d/st, k.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 5 November 2007 01:43 (eighteen years ago)
That sounds a lot like the ILNFL league last year. No IDPs, and no points for kick/punt return yardage. Obv. I'm enjoying things better this year with more scoring categories.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 5 November 2007 02:03 (eighteen years ago)
In a league like this one that's sixteen teams deep, you need as many scoring categories as possible or else 4 or 5 teams would dominate every week while the rest completely stink.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 5 November 2007 02:11 (eighteen years ago)

so, after stat adjustments, i'm knotted up w/ shark week at 89-89. the only player left to play is najeh davenport and it is very likely he will get no points.
are there ties in this sumbitch?
― j.q higgins, Monday, 5 November 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)
yes, I tied All-time jones. They haven't been the same since. Davenport could get a TD though!

I find it stupid silly that Jonze wouldn't have won without David Harris...2nd NFL game EVAR!
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 05:22 (eighteen years ago)
hey, who's to say i wouldn't have played anybody else who could have easily given me a mere 13 points? with that, i still would have won my matchup. and it was actually the 9th game harris has played in, just only the second one he has started. DH was a standout player at U of M. i saw what he did week 8 and knew he'd be a good pickup.
bring on marvcus!
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 06:10 (eighteen years ago)
Ha! That's why I drafted DeMeco Ryans in the 9th round, because I saw him own opposing offenses in games at Alabama. When I did it, everybody was all "har har, you picked an IDP!" He's probably given me the winning edge in games at least 3 times this year.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 06:49 (eighteen years ago)
okay jonze but before santonio holmes went the eff off last night it was all on harris and you know it

^^ JF, I was with you all the way on DRyans. ^^
Beyond that, I was bummed that you snapped him up before I did. And double-bummed that my own league-pwning LB chose yesterday to disappear... If he'd put in even an average day's work I could have overcome the Peterson factor after all.
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 6 November 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)
Speaking of Peterson, I totally got him for a steal in the 3rd round. I'm sad there's no way in hell I'll get him next year unless I draw the 1st or 2nd pick. :(
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 20:14 (eighteen years ago)
Are there leagues where you keep your players from year to year? Seems that would most mimic a "franchise".
― brownie, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)
I think that's what a keeper league is? I dunno for sure, I'm still pretty much a novice.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)
makes sense. I only participate in the ILNFL league
― brownie, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)
Yup. Keeper or "dynasty" leagues. You get to hold onto some but not all of your roster.
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 6 November 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)
Yay, let's do that next year! ::dodges rocks and garbage::
I like my chances against the Brady-less bnw, but I think the unbeaten streak is going to be in real trouble during weeks 11-13.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)
I take it you haven't noticed his replacement: joey harrington!! prepare for 9 and ONE.
― bnw, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)
I aint afraid of nobody named after a baby kangaroo! After this week I'll have more wins than the Pats themselves!
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)
wait a second, this victory will be tainted like no other if Brady's not playing. I motion that this weekend be the ILNFL bye week.
― brownie, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)
motion seconded
― brownie, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 14:21 (eighteen years ago)
i'm in another league that is a variation of your typical keeper league. it's what we call a "sleeper" league. basically, you can keep two players from your roster the following season, but you cannot protect anyone that was taken in the first three rounds of the previous year's draft. also, you can only protect a player twice. so after you've had him on your team for 3 seasons, he's back in the pool the next year. it's a good structure, imo, b/c there's still elite talent in the draft pool each year and plus team owners are rewarded for finding good talent later in the draft.
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)
Oh man...I kinda like that. Can Yahoo leagues be set up that way?
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)
I kind of like that too, actually. What other provider do you use for fantasy, Jonze? We need a better setup and a smaller league next year.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)
that league that i'm talking about is managed through CBS Sportsline. it's not one of CBS' free games, though. it's the fantasy football commissioner game. don't know if the same things could be run in one of their free leagues. i doubt it. the commissioner game is "fully customizable", though. we've got 12 teams and each of us paid like 12 bucks to cover the cost. i really think it's the best site to use for running a fantasy site.
- Your entire league will enjoy unlimited access to live scoring - Customizable league rules - add/drop, trades, roster limits etc. - Customizable league scoring system - Customizable league website - post stories, change colors and more - Free access on your mobile phone** - Dynasty (keeper) league capability and individual defensive players - Archived league information by year and even more!
http://football.sportsline.com/splash/football/spln/mgmt
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)
I guess we'd have to start from scratch next year. It's moot for me, since my main doods (LT and Brees) were early-round picks.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)
Well, paying for a fully customizable league with that capability is only two dollars more than buying Stat Tracker in the stoopid Yahoo! league. Sounds do-able.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 19:53 (eighteen years ago)
I vote we go even wilder with IDP scoring next year, because those dudes just dont get enough love in the real world.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 19:54 (eighteen years ago)
i don't know about that. they already score more points than stud RBs on a routine basis.
― MikeJonze, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)
but this is FANTASY!!!!!
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

― Johnny Fever, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:23 (eighteen years ago)
four points that prove the people in this league don't give a shit anymore:
1. two teams, the keystone krunchers and the fall fridays, packed it in prior to week 1 either b/c they were unhappy w/ the way the computer drafted for them or b/c it wasn't important enough to them.
2. although it didn't matter b/c they were only facing the fall fridays, tanqueray lewises started kelly holcomb, deangelo williams, bobby wade and f'ing ronnie brown, all while leaving matt hasselbeck, dj hackett, and willis mcgahee on his bench.
3. the aforementioned snooze move by hstencil, starting alexander and huard, neither of which were expected to play this week. at the least, if he had started derrick mason and put vince young in at QB instead of leaving a bench guy in his lineup, it could have made a difference between a win and a loss.
4. sex boat all-stars lineup included marshawn lynch (out) and brian griese (out). while he didn't have another RB on his roster to supplant lynch this week, he still could have played kurt warner instead of griese.

Uh, well, change "the people in this league" to "some people in this league" and I'm with you. But, uh, so?
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:36 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, that just means that active players are now just moving toward the playoffs whichever way they can.
kevin (tanqueray lewises) and hstencil (impeach reggie bush) both seem more involved with their other league at this point than they are the ilnfl league, but with their records right now I can't blame them.

I hear you; it's kind of a bummer that this league feels like it's drifted.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)
i can't speak for h but in that other league he started players who were out and on bye so i don't think he's paying much attention to it either. and while i hadn't consciously abandoned my team things going on in my real life took precedence over it. i'm in a couple other leagues (including one where i had been undefeated, thank you brady/moss/a.p. triplets) but i've pretty much abandoned them as well. the only one i'm still setting a roster for is the league i've been in for four years. and even there i'm not taking the time to sign players, just looking to see who's on bye and sitting them.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)
We can just keep it small next year...8 or 10 participants who nerd out hardcore about their lineups every week.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 19 November 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)
yeah. and besides, it's not that difficult to set lineups for teams in multiple leagues. it might take ten to fifteen minutes, if you have two different teams, to look over your rosters and make a couple changes here and there. no more of this "i'm focusing on another league" gobbledygook.
i'm down w/ a ten or twelve team league, as opposed to 16. i kinda thought that was too many to begin with.

:-/

re: me v. the sex boat all stars
i still have a guy left in tonight's game and put up the most points yesterday so it's not as if kurt warner would have made that much of a difference.
― j.q higgins, Monday, 19 November 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)
I won on a tackle by my TE :O
― bnw, Monday, 19 November 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)
sorry, i was travelling sans computer this weekend. it's only a game you guys!

With the Kolby Smith pickup, JESUS THESIS has completed the All-Waiver RB trifecta. Nice work!
― rogermexico., Thursday, 22 November 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)
more like the superfecta. ive been adding back up RBs all season. fortunately a few have produced a little. thank you mssrs graham, fargas, morris...you are all heroes in my quest to get to .500
― johnny crunch, Thursday, 22 November 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
I wish I had a real opponent this week. My roster is kicking football ass!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 25 November 2007 21:27 (seventeen years ago)
Unless LT and Ray Lewis go apeshit starting any minute now, I'm going to have my 3rd loss in a row after tonight's game.

169!! And I still have Ginn's return yardage/potential receiving yardage to go tomorrow night.
Adrian Peterson's not even playing. zomg
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:35 (seventeen years ago)
If I had NOT played the Tennessee defense and instead substituted, oh, no one; I would've at least tied.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:53 (seventeen years ago)
sonned by Minnesota D
― rogermexico., Monday, 26 November 2007 19:15 (seventeen years ago)
I definitely made six points worth of mistakes this week. :-(((((
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:19 (seventeen years ago)
tofu, after the tackle points got added today, you won!
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:56 (seventeen years ago)
what??? that's f'ing garbage! i don't even see where they were added. isn't there usually an asterisk besides stats that are adjusted later?
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 03:49 (seventeen years ago)
They were there earlier today, before that Yahoo machine started gearing up for MNF.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:03 (seventeen years ago)
Huh, that's weird. They were there earlier, jonze, promise.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 04:38 (seventeen years ago)
no, i get it. there are usually slight scoring changes that are accounted for later. i'm just upset that it had to happen this week when i thought i had squeaked one out, only to find out i had, in fact, lost. ROWR!
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 14:53 (seventeen years ago)
I've lost the last two weeks by a total of ten points, and dropped from 1st to 3rd. This fucking game, argh!
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:22 (seventeen years ago)
Fukk. Barber's a great RB, but Dallas' offense is too balanced for him to be a great fantasy RB. I shoulda kept Houshmanzadeh.
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 30 November 2007 04:34 (seventeen years ago)
Since I didn't see it, I don't know how bad Favre's elbow injury was. Would it be worth the risk to pick up Rogers?
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 30 November 2007 04:58 (seventeen years ago)
rock hardy, back when we made the deal, you thought you were pulling one over on me. lol now.
paul, why would you need rodgers? don't you have palmer?
― MikeJonze, Friday, 30 November 2007 14:34 (seventeen years ago)
I know! lolz indeed -- it just goes to show ya.
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 30 November 2007 16:51 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, but he's my only guy now. I sacked McNabb.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 30 November 2007 16:55 (seventeen years ago)
lol, asking the competition for advice
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 30 November 2007 17:52 (seventeen years ago)
Nice, having bff jills and marvcuses face each other in week 14. If I can squeeze out a win, I'll have a bye in week 15 no matter what.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 14:17 (seventeen years ago)
yeah. this is one of several 1 v. 2 matchups i've had so far. you have brady, i have moss; both are facing the pitt d. my two quarterbacks are facing each other.
oh, tension...can you feel it?
― j.q higgins, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 15:59 (seventeen years ago)
I wish I had Brady! No, I'm in 3rd place, happy to let you and bnw fight it out this weekend so I can (hopefully) claim 2nd place and a round-one bye.
Good matchups for me this week: Brees vs. ATL, Barber and Folk indoors, Ray Lewis (hopefully with his dander up) vs. Indy. Will probably be too close for comfort.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 16:12 (seventeen years ago)
yeah I have Brady and Pitt D :/
(i will gladly trade losing fantasy for Pats loss though)
― bnw, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 17:40 (seventeen years ago)
yahoo fantasy games apparently just got blocked by my company's IT dept. that fukkinsux. at least it didn't happen until now, after i got knocked out of playoff contention. i still have a hoops team that i can't get to, though. grrr.
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago)
Not so fast. You play the Krunchers this week, which is an auto-win.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago)
right, but after i win, and if the two above me lose, i've still got one less win than them b/c of my tie. right? i can't verify since i can't get on the league page from work, but i when i was looking at it sunday night, that's what it looked like.
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:14 (seventeen years ago)
5 players are currently locked for the playoffs, with one open space left to be determined. You win this week (which you will), and it will be yours (unless Resulting Paste wins his game this week by like 400 points).
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:19 (seventeen years ago)
oh, i was thinking only four teams were in it for some reason. COOL!
― MikeJonze, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:27 (seventeen years ago)
wow. wtf happened to me this week? time to retreat to the corner, lick my wounds, and gently stroke my salary-cap team, which has now cracked the top 2,500 worldwide and made it into the top 50 in the Fans of Buffalo group lol.
― rogermexico., Wednesday, 5 December 2007 05:48 (seventeen years ago)
Aw crapz! Travis Henry didn't get suspended, so now Andre Hall being on my roster is probably worth about 1 point per week at best.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 6 December 2007 00:31 (seventeen years ago)
God dang, Swiss, that new team name is pretty rude.
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 7 December 2007 02:45 (seventeen years ago)
ok, made me lulz but im fairly jaded/heartless

― rogermexico., Monday, 10 December 2007 07:40 (seventeen years ago)
I like my chances to get one point with Brees and Roddy White, but I think I'm safer not to field a team defense at all rather than put the Saints out there.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 10 December 2007 15:16 (seventeen years ago)
Playoffs, bitches!
I'm rooting for Banjo and Jones.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 13:36 (seventeen years ago)
bye week of brady vs jets? QQ
― bnw, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 03:15 (seventeen years ago)
Look at the silver lining. Your first game after the bye is Brady vs Dolphins!
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 03:32 (seventeen years ago)
My dudes have been clicking for 140+ two weeks in a row, I almost don't want a bye.
― Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 04:53 (seventeen years ago)
Coincidentally, I'm also rooting for myself.

― MikeJonze, Monday, 17 December 2007 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
Good thing I had a bye -- 81 pts. this week.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 17 December 2007 16:43 (seventeen years ago)
how much brady plays next week = how much of a chance I have
― bnw, Monday, 17 December 2007 21:11 (seventeen years ago)
Oh shiiiiit, this is going to be close.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 24 December 2007 02:09 (seventeen years ago)
FUCK
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 03:27 (seventeen years ago)
Come on Denver, make it close enough for SD to put the starters back in.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 03:29 (seventeen years ago)
MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS!
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

― j.q higgins, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 14:50 (seventeen years ago)
Oh yeah, so NOW Carson Palmer decides to have one of his best games of the year while he's warming my fantasy bench! Eff you, mang.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:01 (seventeen years ago)
Tainted goods, bad karma, etc.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 31 December 2007 00:33 (seventeen years ago)
ha! eli would have won me the title. how fucked is that?
― j.q higgins, Monday, 31 December 2007 09:13 (seventeen years ago)
Wow, a 1-point squeaker in the 3rd place game. :-))) And winning the Pick 'Em League is a nice consolation prize.
Enjoyed the season, gentlemens. Count me in for 2008 -- no graverobbing this time.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 31 December 2007 15:49 (seventeen years ago)
Count me in too, in a non-governance role!
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 31 December 2007 23:17 (seventeen years ago)
I think a four-week mini fantasy league for the playoffs would be awesome. New draft on the Mon.-Wed. before the first game, and major risk-reward decisions to be made regarding drafting from the teams you think will be in the Super Bowl vs. drafting high-achievers on risky teams. Four or six teams per league, fewer players per roster, winner determined by total points.
― Rock Hardy, Saturday, 5 January 2008 22:23 (seventeen years ago)
Well, roll that shit out.
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 6 January 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)
2 games are already in the books now, though. :(
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 6 January 2008 07:53 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, it's too late for this year. But I think it would be doable! It could be a bit of a pain to keep up with the numbers, though. (Solution: Player A keeps the game stats for Player B, who keeps stats for Player C, etc. Everybody's got somebody checking their math.)
― Rock Hardy, Sunday, 6 January 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)
