Browns vs Steelers on Sunday. Find big TV, watch game with Steeler fan buddy, come to blows, eat wings.

What are you doing?

brownie, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

Go Saints!

polyphonic, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

oh christ, Schef can you fix spelling in title please?

Should be a good game tomorrow! Luckily the Big Ten Network doesn't have the rights to this one.

As usual I'm pretty excited, and especially so when the Steelers go up 24-0 in the third quarter I'll get to see Brady Quinn come in and lead the Browns to a 27-7 loss.

brownie, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I think we should leave that as Regualr season. Let all teh regualrs hang out.
Oh god I'm hyped for tomorrow night's game.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

SO EXCITED YOU GUYS!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

STOP RUINING THE 2007 FOOTBALL SEASON WHO DO YOU GUYS THINK YOU ARE ROMEO CRENNEL

brownie, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor is still coping with the sudden exit of quarterback Byron Leftwich, his best friend on the team.

“It’s a dog-eat-dog business,” Taylor said. “We’re living in the belly of the beast, and sometimes that beast has to regurgitate itself."

o.O

bnw, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

beast otm

brownie, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

Oh good, maybe he'll suck and Del Rio will put in Jones-Drew for a majority of the carries!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

If he does, expect Greg Jones to get the goal line carries lol.

rogermexico., Wednesday, 5 September 2007 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

no no no no no guys this is not how we do it around here and you all know this.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 6 September 2007 02:13 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Thursday, 6 September 2007 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

hey chill out tomboGRINCH!!!!!! we can have both imho, i like the rolling threads in general bcz it cuts down the amt of time you have to spend wrestling with the search engine like it is a furious pack of voles

cankles, Thursday, 6 September 2007 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'll be at the Browns/Steelers game, the Browns/Ravens game, the Browns/Bills game, and the Browns/Seahawks game. And this year I bought a big fat grill that cooks steak and shrimp and boiled potatoes. I'm really psyched to use it. And I've got a new football. And I actually bought tickets when they went on sale this year instead of like in years past when I missed the on sale date and had to resort to paying like $100 a ticket on Ebay. Man, I need to get a PSL. GO BROWNS!!

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 6 September 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

That said, I still think Steelers -4.5 is the lock of the century.

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 6 September 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

I picked Cleveland in my survival league. LOCK

brownie, Friday, 7 September 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

BROWNIE I HAVE BEEN BLOGGING

and I just can't access ILX via work (which is actually good for my well being)

btw NBC HD is back on my good side :)

David R., Friday, 7 September 2007 02:10 (eighteen years ago)

Wasn't CK just on a thread bemoaning the fact that he was doing a fantasy draft?

Maybe he got lucky! :D

(no more smilies)

David R., Friday, 7 September 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

That tenderized fried chicken thing looked fantastic.

David R., Friday, 7 September 2007 02:28 (eighteen years ago)

So am I to understand that if I want to watch NFL on NBC this season, I'm going to have to endure that smug asshole Keith Olbermann?

also - speaking of smug assholes - nice td Colts even though I hate you

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Friday, 7 September 2007 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

So am I to understand that if I want to watch NFL on NBC this season, I'm going to have to endure that smug asshole Keith Olbermann?

If you can't change the channel during halftime, yeah.

David R., Friday, 7 September 2007 02:56 (eighteen years ago)

lol at folks like me who picked that game to be the SB XLII preview

El Tomboto, Friday, 7 September 2007 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

UGH

Rock Hardy, Friday, 7 September 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)

I am feeling pretty good about my Saints not making the playoffs prediction.

polyphonic, Friday, 7 September 2007 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

i cannot fix the error in thread title, mods have no ability to edit posts for christ knows why :(

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 7 September 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

wow...i did not expect last night...it was like "Hey..um...yeah everyone that has a big raging boner for Baltimore or San Diego or New England, we did kinda..you know...wanna remind you that we, like, won the FUCKING SUPERBOWL LAST YEAR....so, you might still wanna keep an eye on us."

i like the colts mostly cuz i love tony d. from when he was with the vikes, but love 'em or hate 'em, i'm not sure anyone ever has executed such a precision long passing game as manning and his current tandem....it's amazing to watch.

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

yeah it's pretty impressive, absolutely insane. but the real story is colts' defensive lockdown and/or saints' offensive wtfness.

Dimension 5ive, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i was shocked! there's a whole bunch of kinda no-name dudes on that defense esp. after some of the defections but damn they looked great...plus they made that one former colt secondary dude (can't remember his name) just look like an idiot

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, josh david was eaten alive.

*insert bill paxton freak out from alien(s?)*

where was the pressure?

j.q higgins, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

the nfln postgame was basically dominated by Deion's lecture on how much it sucks to be Jason David right now.

El Tomboto, Friday, 7 September 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

ah. deion drawing from the memory banks re: his stormy tenure in washington. what a mutt.

j.q higgins, Friday, 7 September 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Modz have had neutered powaz (no post or title editing, now the sole purview of admins) ever since ILX 2.0 or whatever, thanks to one Jay Dubz. All they can do is bring the ban-hammer down or delete threadz.

Leee, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

;_;

anyway 48 HOURS

brownie, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

yall see why i'm so pessimistic about the pats now???????? >:(

when madden asserted pregame that this was going to be a nonstop scorefest FUCK DEFENSE i knew it would be a boring game. i went to bed at halftime, did i miss anything KEWL

cankles, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:21 (eighteen years ago)

Modz have had neutered powaz (no post or title editing, now the sole purview of admins) ever since ILX 2.0 or whatever, thanks to one Jay Dubz.

okay totally the wrong place for this but how is it jon's fault that ilx is run by some fucking limey fucktard assbaskets who can't do anything right

cankles, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

not to mention the pats have to play the Browns this year. DOUBLE WHAMMY.tif

brownie, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

it was a weird game for me because they are the main rivals of my two fav teams, but at the same time i am rooting for peyton a little bit so the bradypeyton argument can die forever. also it would be great if indy was so dominant for the rest of the season that the pats become underdogs & sneak up on everyone, which is more satisfying than ppl being like "*shrug* give it to new england i guess"

cankles, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

how did I miss that the pats were your other favorite team? what you missed in the second half was Indy totally embarrassing the Saints. poor Drew Brees.

horseshoe, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

i was being lol funny in my post but does this mean the pats have to play the AFC North? Pitt, Cinci and Baltimore?

brownie, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

Brady > Manning, now and forever.

Just watch, you'll see!

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Friday, 7 September 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

who are you? that is false, btw.

horseshoe, Friday, 7 September 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

LOL @ Brady post.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 September 2007 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

mb it's cuz i am usually more interested in hating on other teams :[ i wuz born in/family is from boston, but i've lived in atlanta most of my life. my brother is 7 years older than i so he is more of a northerner than myself; i root for atl teams a little harder than boston ones and vice versa for him~

are you from buffalol btw? how did you become a BILLS fan!

cankles, Friday, 7 September 2007 19:53 (eighteen years ago)

Profiles in courage: TEH LONG-SNAPPER.

Leee, Friday, 7 September 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

I am from Buffalo(l). I was 11-15 during the Super Bowl run. that's pretty much the whole story, traumatized in my formative years.

horseshoe, Friday, 7 September 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

ha, yes, my children are going to get an education first, and learn about the most important athletic skills second: kicking, punting, long snapping, and catching knuckleballs.

El Tomboto, Friday, 7 September 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

of course there's probably about 800,000 other clever bubbas out there with the exact same idea

El Tomboto, Friday, 7 September 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

That article is odd.

" They are a unique breed. For one thing, most are abnormally down-to-earth guys.

After finishing an interview, Indianapolis Colts long snapper Justin Snow thanked a reporter for being interested enough to talk with him. When Condo was mistakenly addressed as "Joe" instead of "Jon" he simply said: "No problem, just please make sure you spell my name right."

Some have reputations for being quirky. Jennings, a deep thinker who takes a holistic view of maintaining his body, invariably is described as "eccentric." New England's Lonie Paxton, a Sacramento State product, made a snow angel after the field goal that beat Oakland in the 2002 Tuck Game.

Binn is gossip column fodder for being romantically linked to Pamela Anderson.

"We're friends," Binn said cryptically. "I guess it's just part of the NFL experience. Doors open that you never would have expected.""

forksclovetofu, Friday, 7 September 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

Also, WTF at Indy's amazing pass d and the saints inability to more the ball on the ground. Indy with a solid defense would be terrifying.

forksclovetofu, Friday, 7 September 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

catching knuckleballs

Line forms after Doug Mirabelli.

Leee, Friday, 7 September 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

The Browns used a draft pick on a long snapper when Butch Davis was coach. pretty much every spot on the had been filled with A+ STARTERS WOULD START AGAIN and the only thing missing from a super bowl ring was a long snapper.

long snapper sounds like a coastal salt water fish

brownie, Saturday, 8 September 2007 01:32 (eighteen years ago)

I'm pretty much drunk right now.

If the Hefty Lefty gets the Giants winning, the guy will be a folk hero by Halloween.

Have you heard about NFL security busting the Patriots filming the Jets' coachs hand signals and audible calls? NFL security confiscated the camera and film. The Hoodie is the Dick Nixon of head coaches. I bet that freakin' Moss wasn't even really hurt that bad in the pre-season as much as they did not want anyone to see how they were going to use him.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 02:51 (eighteen years ago)

that is basically always the better option

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 03:22 (eighteen years ago)

the only time commentary seems necessary is when your ENTIRE FIRST STRING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL gets hurt and may/may not be out for the entire year or hey maybe just a month or two oh fuck it

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 03:23 (eighteen years ago)

even then, the commentary wasn't particularly illuminating last night.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 11 September 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

:( Kevin Everett

horseshoe, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 03:30 (eighteen years ago)

that is the other time it is important so you at least know if a dude is still breathing. I was thinking about him as soon as I posted like "man what am I acting up about it's just a season, Everett might DIE"

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

is the ball made of butters?

BENSINGTON BUTTERS

i went to bed b4 the AZISF (the aztecan god) game really was in gear but i heard a minute of M&M and was all like "...wait... are those the fucking espn morning radio hacks?" i cant believe THAT'S their b-team.

cankles, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

It’s all part of the Bellicheck master plan. Step one, get a head coaching job in Cleveland. Step two, create a QB controversy. Step 3, get fired and return to old job as DC for your mentor. Step 4, get selected as next HC for that team, but quit immediately and switch over to division rival. Step 5, win 3 Superbowls.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

holy shit, this means Crennel will be the next coach of the Buffalo Bills.

brownie, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

I'm probably having my tenth nervous breakdown since 1999 but for Frye to start the opening game and then be pulled in the 2nd quarter and then traded two days later is simply amazing.

BRITNEY IMA COMING TO JOIN YOU

didn't say you were a non-fan, said you were fair-weather.

hstencil, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

same thing, captain backpedal!! a fairweather fan is one who abandons their team when they suck, while i am clearly supporting MAH BWOYZ~

cankles, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

1. that's not a backpedal at all, 100% consistent.
2. week 1 you watched all the game, big deal. i challenge you to watch every minute of every falcons game this season, then i will stop calling you fair-weather.

hstencil, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

dude hstencil, I think Ade's been watching all the Falcons games all season for a while now. /cap'n-save-an-ade

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

i can only assume the lack of bears talk is a mercy fuck because they are in trouble. cedric benson looks weak though better than rahsaan salaam or curtis enis. rex grossman looks worse than last year (should have picked up daunte!). favorite quote of the year so far, thanks to dr z:

San Diego LB Matt Wilhelm on the instructions his position coach Ron Rivera gave about trash talking to Rex Grossman: "He told us that Rex was kind of a mental midget so you can get into his head and create that doubt."

omar little, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

I came here now specifically to post that Matt Wilhelm quote!

polyphonic, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

gahahlkahgaHAHAHA HOLY SHIT that is so great. i swear i would root for the bears so hard if it wasnt for rex, he just ruins it all 4 me :(

lol stence is this fukkin soviet russia or limeyworld or something, guilty until proven innocent? the whole "you havent proven yourself yet" thing only works if the person is already under suspicion, but the only suspicion u providing is that i haven't proven i'm NOT fairweather! that is some str8 crazy pills shit my man~

also arent you the dude who picks a new team to root for every year

cankles, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

ahahaha that Wilhelm quote! I swear Grossman looks like the dimmest man alive.

I am working on being more of a Bears fan so I don't feel luck such an asshole in Chicago bars on Sundays. I'm trying to just concentrate on Lovie Smith.

horseshoe, Thursday, 13 September 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

1. cankles, you are already under suspicion, c'mon.
2. no, saints are my team dude. who are you, sean agnew?
3. when your team goes 3 and out every time they get the ball, plenty of time for pee breaks. wtf it's like some people on this thread have never even watched football.
4. which makes them even more suspect than cankles!

i challenge i love nfl!

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Sunday, 30 December 2007 08:11 (seventeen years ago)

nah that's not crazy - i def recall at least one sportswriter (prob si.com) saying after spygate.. oh shit, pats going 16-0 now

daria-g, Sunday, 30 December 2007 08:30 (seventeen years ago)

Brady > Manning, now and forever.

You are every braindead Count-The-Rings mainstream media asshole riding the Patriots' cock since Bledsoe had his lung punctured by a broken rib, and you should be totally proud for jumping on the bandwagon the one year that Brady actually outperforms Manning, which just so happens to coincide with Brady finally getting WRs worth a damn (including a previously underperforming world-class talent) and Manning having his #1 go down for half a season. Have some cake:

Seriously, though, TN deserves to be in the playoffs.

Football season is ridiculously too short. :(

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:17 (seventeen years ago)

Tenn deserves to be in; they also deserve to lose in the first round.

forksclovetofu, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:20 (seventeen years ago)

No way - they have a debt to repay the Chargers - remember December 9th? A day that will live in infamy among Titans fans...

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:29 (seventeen years ago)

If you can't win 10 you really shouldn't be there - ie 'Skins & Bucs.

Dude, I'm a titans fan and it's far too soon. Out on their ear.

forksclovetofu, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:32 (seventeen years ago)

No way - they have a debt to repay the Chargers - remember December 9th? A day that will live in infamy among Titans fans...

The Titans absolutely should have won that game, but I don't see them winning in San Diego. If the game was in Tennessee I'd give them a shot, but not on the road. Their first-team struggled to hold off Jim Sorgi and a lot of dudes I have NEVER EVER HEARD OF. (Lawton? Aromashodu? Dawson? Also, who is like every single dude on their defense who isn't named Bob Sanders, Jackson or Brackett? Are any of those guys any good?)

polyphonic, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:37 (seventeen years ago)

re: skins and bucs

i think it's considerably worse for a division winner to go in w/ 9 wins than the lower wild card seed.

j.q higgins, Monday, 31 December 2007 09:09 (seventeen years ago)

After the Baltimore Ravens' lengthy search for a starting quarterback in 1999 concluded with the underwhelming signing of free-agent journeyman Scott Mitchell, then-rookie coach Brian Billick attempted to allay the concerns of unimpressed fans by self-assuredly proclaiming: "Trust me, Baltimore, I know quarterbacks."

Those came to be infamous words in Baltimore, where Billick spent the ensuing nine seasons demonstrating that he knew very little about how to fix the Ravens' chronic shortcomings at the game's most critical position.

polyphonic, Monday, 31 December 2007 23:35 (seventeen years ago)

This is ridiculous:

“His head is, not like flighty, but he's got so much going on up there,” center Nick Hardwick said. “I'd like to be in his brain for a little bit. You can see him walking around almost bumping into things. I think he just sees routes and stuff up there. It'd be a trip to be in there for a while – like 'Being John Malkovich.' Being Norv Turner.”

Much of San Diego was fixated this season on how Turner so often looks like he doesn't know what's going on, as if he is caught in a maze he can't navigate.

The truth is Turner notices pretty much everything and is at least two steps ahead of most other people around him. He sees things they don't, knows things they'll know later.
