We don't need to make any dramastic changes to what we're doin' WEEK THREE MUMBO JUMBO

In honor of Eli Manning's new word he invented. I think finishing drives instead of choking on stupid penalties would be pretty dramastic for the NYFG but hey he's the QB.

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

how could you possibly pick the jets?

hstencil, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

cuz they're marginally better than the dolphins

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:08 (eighteen years ago)

jets are at "home"
dolphins are "crap"

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:10 (eighteen years ago)

no wai. and i hate the dolphins. but the jets are terrrrrrrrible this year.

xpost lol jets are at "home" CALLED GIANTS STADIUM

hstencil, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:10 (eighteen years ago)

continuing this from W2 thread (man if only there was some kind of rolling thread)

The Rams have been disappointing. I figured they would do a bit better, as they played well in the first half of last year and then got hurt. The Rams are just not putting the ball in the end zone.

the rams were an interesting team 2 me 2 and i thought they might do something this year, but they were fucked as soon as pace went down. bulger can't even complete a five step drop now, which is kryptonite for that offense

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:11 (eighteen years ago)

uh dogg have u peeped the fins this year? they are two shitty teams but one is mb less shitty than the other and also happens 2 b playing at home, idk i think that is pretty solid rationale~

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:12 (eighteen years ago)

Jets can actually complete some passes.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:12 (eighteen years ago)

is anyone else wayyy more fascinated by the bucs winning than the saints losing? i was sorta afraid of this, i could envision garcia and gruden meshing really well (yes homo) and maybe the defense getting its shit together slightly, this could be a 7 or 8 win team which is astounding to me

also kind of astounding - brees & garcia threw for abt the same number of yards but garcia was 10/16 while brees had something like 44 attempts. isnt grudens offense like based entirely on throwing into the flat??? i just thot that was weird~~

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:18 (eighteen years ago)

homo

mookieproof, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:20 (eighteen years ago)

21-11 in pick em.
And I steal your arrows.

Arizona vs Baltimore → Ravens, but a pair of TDs slip through OH NO
Buffalo vs New England → New England scores 69 points on purpose
Detroit vs Philadelphia → Detroit, Kitna with 300+ yards or a neck brace
Indianapolis vs Houston → Indy, but it's not a blowout
Miami vs N.Y. Jets → Miami by default
Minnesota vs Kansas City → Minnesota; Kansas City is in trouble
San Diego vs Green Bay → Green Bay is the upset pick; I want to pick bolts but I haven't seen anything in the last two games that suggests I should... GOOD TIMES
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh → Pitty Sing
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay → The other Saints get back on track
Cincinnati vs Seattle → Cincinnati
Cleveland vs Oakland → Oaktown 3-5-7, playing less over their heads than Cleveland
Jacksonville vs Denver → Don't know, don't much care... let's say jacksonville? No, Denver. Okay, neither.
Carolina vs Atlanta → Carolina; anybody want to guess what week Atlanta wins?
N.Y. Giants vs Washington → Washington and the FIRE COUGHLIN chants start today
Dallas vs Chicago → Dallas; I pick over on Sexy Rexy with two picks
Tennessee vs New Orleans → Gut pick with hometown boys, how bout some tennessee ti'aaaaaaaaaanz

forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

By the time Jeff Fisher finally hangs his hat, he'll be up there with longest-tenured coaches surely. He just another 4 yr extension or something, iirc.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:28 (eighteen years ago)

lol @ everyone pickin' ten

hay guys they're kind of a shitty team just fyi~

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:33 (eighteen years ago)

Vince gets time to decide if he wants to run or throw. Brees gets grass in his mouth.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)

Got one more win and a defense that stopped about three fewer touchdowns per game than kind of a shitty team number 2.
LOL NUMBER 2 SEE WHAT I DID THERE

hahaha Belichick on next week's game: "Buffalo presents some unique challenges."

;_;

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

Tirico: If one of two guys caught a punt last week, the Eagles win that game.
Barkley: If I didn't eat so much, I wouldn't be fat!

can we rename the board i love charles barkley

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:53 (eighteen years ago)

also kind of astounding - brees & garcia threw for abt the same number of yards but garcia was 10/16 while brees had something like 44 attempts. isnt grudens offense like based entirely on throwing into the flat??? i just thot that was weird~~

Joey Galloway YAC

What's just as wacky is Brees didn't start completing passes until the second half. All I saw are the stats though, don't know what was going on unless the Aints just kinda figured out that there will be no running game.

rogermexico., Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:54 (eighteen years ago)

haha :( i feel like i should apologize or something. hey you never know with division games!!!!!

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:54 (eighteen years ago)

oh yeah i forgot, joey. okay it all fits now~~

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:55 (eighteen years ago)

no, it was nice of Belichick to say that shit with a straight face. also, I am taking a page out of brownie's book and predicting a Buffalol win.

ahahahaha Barkley is always awesome on MNF. last year he talked about how he never played football because "I'm not dumb" and he didn't want to end up braindead and all the while Theismann's in the booth and Tirico and Kornheiser are trying not to look at him and it's so awkward and amazing.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

Arizona vs Baltimore - Baltimore
Buffalo vs New England - Buffalo (UNIQUE CHALLENGES!!!)

Indianapolis vs Houston - Colts
Miami vs N.Y. Jets - wow it's always a barnburner when these two get together. Jets
Minnesota vs Kansas City - Vikings
San Diego vs Green Bay - Chargers

Buffalo vs New England - NE (UNIQUE CHEATING CHALLENGES AMIRITE)
Detroit vs Philadelphia - Detroit has to lose at least one this year
Indianapolis vs Houston - Colts

Minnesota vs Kansas City - Vikings
San Diego vs Green Bay - Packers. There is nothing wrong with the Charger helmets. It's the pants, stupid.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh - Steelers. ugh. Steelers are notorious for their slow starts. Not this year with a schedule like CLE, BUF, 48ers.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay - TB
Cincinnati vs Seattle - Seahawks.
Cleveland vs Oakland - With Steinbach and Joe Thomas on the left side of the line, with Winslow, Jurevicious and Edwards as receivers and Lewis at running back this team will win and win again.
Jacksonville vs Denver - Denver eeks out another smugfest.
Carolina vs Atlanta - Falcons come together.
N.Y. Giants vs Washington - Giants
Dallas vs Chicago - Bears D wins this game
Tennessee vs New Orleans - Saints

brownie, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

you know, I'm afraid that might be true. they look fucking indestructible. can it just be next season already?

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

yeah that is pretty much as good as a team can play - unless somehow san diego just secretly sux.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

i am on record all over this place as saying i don't think san diego is as good as pplz think they are! this is not to go against the patriots terrific play of the other night but i don't think the pats are THAT much better than they normally are, and in fact we do this every season so i don't know why i'm pointing this out.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

you guys are telling me youve never seen that before? not possible.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

adalius thomas is the better free agent acquisition because he will be harder to shut down. Eventually the pats will play a team that brings some kind of pass rush and that will make it interesting. unfortunately this doesn't look like it will happen until week 8 or 9 at the earliest. Right now they appear to have one of the weakest schedules in the league.

Any quarterback can complete 80% when their O-line is standing around with nothing to do on every passing down.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

are you talking about the brady song? i've seen that like 100x. BUT the bestest one of those is the ron mexico one.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

there is a reason there o-line is standing around: it is because they are so much better than everyone.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

Last night's game would have maybe played out quite differently if the Chargers' RT hadn't gone down in the first three minutes. Their protection was falling apart at the seams. Plus Norv is a moron.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

yeah ok that what i thought xp

jhøshea, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

no way they're surviving @ind, @balt, v. pit undefeated

Jordan Sargent, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

I'm rooting for the redskins to take them apart at this point. Any port in a storm.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

The Chargers lost 3 games last year, and all three of them they should have won. They retained everyone from that team except old Donnie Edwards. Their coaching maybe sucks (so far, so bad), but it is borderline ludicrous to say they aren't a good team.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

well shit I could have sworn the Giants were a good team too but oh hey look at that it's Hubert J. Farnsworth in charge.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

i didn't say they weren't a good team, i said they were an overrated team. you might note there is a vast world of difference between the two statements.

and also yeah tom otm btw.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

some channel like TCM or AMC or some such >250 cable network was showing "Charly" on sunday so I kept flipping to it during commercials because I had already seen the Dr. Who episode that was on and I realized Rex Grossman is Charly. They are all like hey Rex come on work this offense, you're so smart! Then he does it and they're all amazed. Then it's the end of the season and the mouse is dead and Rex is all "wud you put some flowrs on algernon's grave in the bak yard" right before he goes on to commit eleventy-three fumbles in the supra bowel.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

Last night Tom Jackson was the only guy who picked the Redskins and everyone gave him shit for it.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 20:38 (eighteen years ago)

Not to be purposely contrary, but Wes Welker is equally fuckin' scary as Moss. It's the combo of the two, not just Moss, that's fuckin' shit up.

forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, it's kind of funny that donte stallworth is like an afterthought, at least to hear it told on the tv.

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

He's not been as flashy as either Wes or Randy, but he's gonna have a three td game before years end.
Honestly, one of them needs an injury to make the playoffs fair and (though i'm certainly not wishing it on anyone) given NFL play, it's awful likely that's what's gonna happen.

forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

i would still give him shit for it, the redskins are buttsy

some channel like TCM or AMC or some such >250 cable network was showing "Charly" on sunday so I kept flipping to it during commercials because I had already seen the Dr. Who episode that was on and I realized Rex Grossman is Charly. They are all like hey Rex come on work this offense, you're so smart! Then he does it and they're all amazed. Then it's the end of the season and the mouse is dead and Rex is all "wud you put some flowrs on algernon's grave in the bak yard" right before he goes on to commit eleventy-three fumbles in the supra bowel.

it is so agonizing to me that i cant add this to the faq

cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

stallworth's ALWAYS been an afterthought, he's just like a slightly better version of ashley lelie and he's hurt all the time anyway, i wasnt expecting anything special from him this year~

i didnt really think it would happen, i just thought ppl were mentioning the falcons wrt his name cuz it's such an obvious need. they're gonna be pretty disappointed if it's part of their plan to get black fans back into the georgia dome~

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

Not to be purposely contrary, but Wes Welker is equally fuckin' scary as Moss.

But it's Moss who sets up Welker for glory. Welker is there to make 'em pay for doubling Moss (cf. Watson, Benjamin).

Moss is there to make 'em pay for not doubling Moss.

Minnesota vs Kansas City → minnesota. kc is lucky they don't have appalachian state on their schedule or else this year could be real embarrassing.
San Diego vs Green Bay → chargers. favre is due for one of those patented "6 interception throwing off his back foot because he's sick of getting hit" games.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh → pittsburgers.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay → tampa. why the fuck did they name the team after the water?
Cincinnati vs Seattle → seattle
Cleveland vs Oakland → clevo
Jacksonville vs Denver → denver
Carolina vs Atlanta → carolinus
N.Y. Giants vs Washington → i'd like to predict a tie but instead i predict warshngton.
Dallas vs Chicago → dallas. bears offense is beyond fugly at this point.

Monday, Sep. 24
Tennessee vs New Orleans → tennessee

Arizona vs Baltimore - Bodymore
Buffalo vs New England - Pats
Detroit vs Philadelphia - I have no idea here. Philly's offense looks out of sync. Detriot.
Indianapolis vs Houston - Who would have thought this would be a marquee game. A lot closer than people think. Colts.
Miami vs N.Y. Jets - Two bad teams. Ronnie Brown can't do anything behind that awful line and Trent Green is due for another concussion. Jets.
Minnesota vs Kansas City - KC is bad, bad, bad. Minnesota.
San Diego vs Green Bay - I agree people over-rate SD talent. The secondary is average and Brett Farve will have fun. GB. Out there pick of the week. Besides, I like the GB defense.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh - Who is that brown eyed handsome man? Mike Tomlin of course. Pitt.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay - Tampa.
Cincinnati vs Seattle - The Bengals defense looked good because Baltimore's offense is terrible. While Seattle won't get 51 they'll get enough to win. Hawks.
Cleveland vs Oakland - Browns won't score a million points this week. I hate to say it, but Oakland's first win. Sorry brownie....
Jacksonville vs Denver - Jacksonville.
Carolina vs Atlanta - Panthers
N.Y. Giants vs Washington - Skins.
Dallas vs Chicago - Dallas.
Tennessee vs New Orleans - NO

Buffalo vs New England - patriots
Detroit vs Philadelphia - detroit will murder philly
Indianapolis vs Houston - no AJ, no hope for houston
Miami vs N.Y. Jets - jets
Minnesota vs Kansas City - minn
San Diego vs Green Bay - no way LT doesn't bust out and run for 200 yds and 2 scores
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh - pittsburgh
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay - st louis
Cincinnati vs Seattle - seattle will eke one out
Cleveland vs Oakland - no way oakland wins.
Jacksonville vs Denver - denver
Carolina vs Atlanta - carolina
N.Y. Giants vs Washington - wash
Dallas vs Chicago - i hate the cowbois but I think they'll take this one and rex will pee himself
Tennessee vs New Orleans - tenn

i dont know if that many people will get worked up over the browns beating the raiders, sorry.

Jordan Sargent, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:47 (eighteen years ago)

Indy - It should be an interesting game. Texans defense looks like they have some talent.

NE - Buffalo's offense seems to have slipped back from last year.

Miami - One of these weeks I am going to pick the Dolphins to win and it will actually happen. I've got a feeling the Jets are going straight to the dumper, they seem to only get good for one year at a time.

Philly - They are the best 0-2 team. Detroit is on the road, that last win had to be a fluke.

Steelers - The Niners are a decent fugly kind of team and I bet this one will not be pretty. I can't see the Niners scoring too much, but I figure they will hold Pittsburgh down to more field goals than TDs.

Tampa - I figure if I don't pick the Rams they will probably start to play well. Tampa could be decent, as even though they have been pretty sucky, there are a couple of OK players on both sides of the ball, but they were getting old (especially on defense). It is just seeing if the draft/free agent craps game comes up with some stuff that works.

Green Bay - I'm going to have to see SD get some of that spark back. It could be this week or they could just be a middling club.

B-More - The Ravens can win ugly and I have to figure they will make Arizona make some big mistakes.

Minnesota - KC might be playing to win the game, but that doesn't mean it is going to happen. The Viks looked decent this time last year and then went kaplooee.

Cleveland - After last week, I have no idea in hell what is going to happen in this game. I figure Browns over the Raiders 5 to 3. It would be funny as hell if this Anderson guy all the sudden turns into the second coming of Brian Sipe and ND bowl haircut guy turns into a water boy for a couple of seasons then they unload him to some club for two draft picks. Does that Rogers guy from Cal even still suit up in Green Bay?

Cincy - Seattle will probably win the game, but I like and watch the Bengals pretty much every week.

Denver - It is all about the kicking game.

Carolina - The Panthers stunk last week, so they should be good this week. The only thing consistent is their inconsistency. Beyond that they are playing the Falcons, who have a game plan probably made to take on Rutgers.

Washington - I can't stand Snyder, but I like Gibbs and they looked pretty decent all the way around last week. I always liked Washington pretty well back in the 80s, you just didn't feel bad if your team lost to them like the Niners or Cowboys. The Giants are a mess and unless Eli Manning gets some of his bro's mojo and starts throwing bombs batshit crazy, I don't see NY winning.

Dallas - I used to like the Cowboys back when I was a little kid, but Jerry Jones comes off like a scuz bag and no amount of Bum Phillips blood line can fix that wound. I think Dallas should beat the Bears, but personally I hope Chicago freakin' creams them 49 to 3 and Brian Urlacher puts T.O.'s head on a pike on Lake Shore Drive.

Tennesee - The Saints just don't look like they have it together and I think the Titans defense is back.

earlnash, Friday, 21 September 2007 02:42 (eighteen years ago)

i only root against teams~

earlnash, okoye's gone unnoticed so far this year but so far he's been the tommie harris-ish player ppl were expecting. 2 sacks in last week's game. that defense could indeed be pretty nasty in the future.

i hate to say it but i could see tampa being an 8-win team. garcia looks legit. gruden is still a turd of a coach tho and they should shitcan him ASAP.

az's o-line played a lot better last week but the ravens are a pretty tough test for any offense. apparently boller played well last week too but i didnt watch the game. FO projected him to make a big leap forward a couple years ago, maybe this is his moment to shine.

chicago is going to be the first real defense dallas has faced this year, so we'll see how good that O really is.

i can't see how the titans defense can be back since it never existed in the first place! my favorite meme is "oh VY just rode the ten defense last year" which is horseshit cuz it was horrible, and it still is. also, no pacman.

cankles, Friday, 21 September 2007 06:44 (eighteen years ago)

cankles you are the weak link in the browns across America campaign, perhaps you fee threatened that Crennel the student has surpassed Belichick the teacher

brownie, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

Arizona vs Baltimore - it seems so obvious that the Ravens should win this, but i can't see how their offense will score enough to win the game.
Buffalo vs New England - if this Bills team went 0-16 i wouldn't bat an eyelid.
Detroit vs Philadelphia - this will be a high score game. Eagles will make home advantage count.
Indianapolis vs Houston - Houston are getting there, but they aren't ready for the Colts yet, esp without AJ.
Miami vs N.Y. Jets - as unlikely as it sounds, i thought the Jets were OK against Baltimore. i think they'll take this fairly comfortably.
Minnesota vs Kansas City - Vikings look good, Chiefs look terrible.
San Diego vs Green Bay - Packers have to lose some for their inevitable 8-8 finish, so it might as well start here.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh - this will confirm Steelers as contenders and Niners as also-rans.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay - Rams aren't making plays on crunch downs and Bucs are playing well. close one, but TB takes it.
Cincinnati vs Seattle - Another QB might throw this by trying too much after Bengals' last showing, but Hass. is a pretty cautious guy.
Cleveland vs Oakland - the Browns otoh might well try too much. i think Raiders will edge this.
Jacksonville vs Denver - Denver wins, no TDs.
Carolina vs Atlanta - Falcons are so far behind in this game that they'll probably end up winning it. then again, probably not.
N.Y. Giants vs Washington - not a good game for NYG to get their first win. i think they'll go close, but 'Skins will win.
Dallas vs Chicago - Cowboys D will make Rexy look good and Bears rush will get to Romo.
Tennessee vs New Orleans - Saints will outscore Titans for the win.

chicago kevin, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:16 (eighteen years ago)

i'm thinking about jumping ship on my texans pick now since johnson isn't playing. i don't think i will though.

chicago kevin, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

Hey now! This Bills team would be 1-1 less a miracle Denver finish at Orchard Park. All that's really standing between them and glory is an offensive line and a defensive backfield.

rogermexico., Friday, 21 September 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

That said, I'm taking NE in my suicide pool this week ;_;

chicago kevin, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:50 (eighteen years ago)

browns have a rare 4pm game (to be seen by only by mid cali and northeast ohio folk). BUT the 1pm game is Steelers vs 48ers. My Bay area quota is filled.

As an aside a friend bought a 52 inch flat screen and to our astonishment no Cleveland game is scheduled to be broadcast in hi def this season. :/

brownie, Saturday, 22 September 2007 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

this is the time where Snrub comes in with his wit and wisdom and lets CBS have it

:P

brownie, Saturday, 22 September 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

"apparently boller played well last week"

I wonder how much of the Ravens offensive problems for the last few years is that they have had absolutely no deep threat in the passing game. Sometimes throwing a 40 or 50 yard in the air interception is not too much worse than punting.

I forgot about that Okoye guy from Louisville. That dude is a freak, he was freaking starting Division 1 football on the line at LIKE AGE 16. They had a little thing with Kubiak on the NFL Network a couple of days ago talking about that a big reason Houston took Mario Williams over Reggie Bush was because of Peyton Manning being in the division.

earlnash, Saturday, 22 September 2007 02:45 (eighteen years ago)

As good as Houston's defense finally is, without AJ playing this week their offensive potential just got whacked in half.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 22 September 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)

UM, can someone tell me WTF the eagles are wearing??

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

old la rams unis.

nice texans kickoff return for the td.

hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

aaaaand the steelers did the same after giving up a fg to the 49ers.

colts just tied it.

hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

It's still early in the season (and early in the game for that matter), but I think the Texans are finally a legitimate team.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

like the way trent edwards looks (though ive basically always thought losman is a chump)

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i think the texans are gonna be decent, they might give the colts a good run today (tho i don't think they'll win).

phil rivers - 16/17?

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

Ladainian Tomlinson is the worst running back in the NFL! Can we get some rushing yards? Sheesh.

polyphonic, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

i've got sd/gb and philly/detroit. no one in that eagles/lions game is playing any defense.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

phil rivers - 16/17?

the incomplete was one where he threw it three rows deep out the back of the endzone because no one was open. green bay getting exactly zero pressure on rivers.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 18:45 (eighteen years ago)

wow, st. louis really sucks.

hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

why the fuck did ronny brown choose this week to wake from his early season slumber? motherfucker...

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

texans are done.

hstencil, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, they held up there for a bit. defense just looks young and offense is helpless without AJ or Green. chalk it up as a "learning experience"

ryan, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

can dick stockton pls stop jizzing himself over welker's lateral to moss?

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

c'mon belicheck, throw maroney a bone. 83 yards rushing and sammy morris comes in for the 4 yard td run.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

FINALLY! A Coors Light commercial with Denny Green's Cards/Bears post-game meltdown!

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

roy williams has evidently spent halftime marinating his hands in a melted butter/wd-40 mixture.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

gb had fourth and goal from literally two inches away and they run an empty backfield set for an incompletion? really? you don't even want to put a back in the backfield even to give the illusion that you MIGHT pass? ok.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

er, might run. i type like the green bay coaching staff calls a game.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

can dick stockton pls stop jizzing himself over welker's lateral to moss?

dick stockton is doing the eagles game, isn't he?

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

sorry, i think i meant dick oh my! enberg...stockton is actually not bad.

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

fox just won't switch away from that eagles game, every time i switch back to it everyone's just standing around. bring me the goddamn skins/gints game.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

WTF why is Fox punishing LA viewers with Jints/Skins?

rogermexico., Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

Ladainian Tomlinson is the worst running back in the NFL! Can we get some rushing yards? Sheesh.

Him and Larry Johnson and Steven Jackson apparently. Yeesh.

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

was/nyg is the national game so unless you're in the market of a team that's playing on fox you're getting gints/'skins.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

EVERYTHING IS THE WORST!!! (glad the Eagles won, though; ilu Donovan Mcnabb!)

horseshoe, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

horseshoe, i take it you weren't in chicago for dick jauron's tenure as bears head coach? because none of that sounds surprising.

unrelated, dick jauron was one of the top 50 high school athletes ever in massachusetts as selected by the boston globe. i think he was somewhere in the 20s.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

Kevin, I've been watching the Bills at Delilah's this season! it rules; thanks for the heads-up!

I want to like Jauron, but Jesus.

horseshoe, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

i was just gonna ask if you were there! was jim behind the bar (tall dude, usually with a beard, from buffalo)? i was gonna head over there but i'm broke as a joke and didn't get over to myopic to sell some books yesterday.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

yah but he's 80% for the season after three games - that is pretty crazy regardless of who yr playing

jhøshea, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

I think one of the dudes behind the bar is named Tom? he was a Bills fan, but no beard. kind of a big dude? also, I have a crush on skinny tattoed redhead bartender--do you know who he is?

horseshoe, Sunday, 23 September 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

i can't stand buck either but i keep myself entertained by listening for the players he hates. today's player would be plax burress.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

plax, manny ramirez, barry bonds... his voice just drips with contempt when talking about them.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

I was seriously bitter when they hired him. I love Ralph Wilson, but I fear he's fully in his game-has-passed-him-by years. We'll see what happens after they fire Jauron.

Also, I love Marshawn Lynch so much right now I hope they trade him ;_;

gr8080, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

ok aikman + 14 concussions> senile joe gibbs. wtf was that shit.

Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

gibbs was probably ordering mashed peas into campbell's headset tho.

Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

alright, i need TO to score 39 points to tie in my other league. while i was debating maroney, peterson, and henry i had deshaun foster scoring more than any of them on my bench.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

oh, shit! !!!! goddamn

daria-g, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

that was unbelievable why didn't campbell just run it in

daria-g, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

i am just sickened. SICKENED by that blocked kick. derek anderson drives down the field. does everything right. even gets that dump pass ob to jurevicious AND they make the first kick. god damn motherfucking son of a bitch.

browns' defense looked SO FUCKING BAD. third and twenty-three AND we don't blitz AND they do a little screen pass to lamont jordon... and they still get it.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

snrub otm as usual

nice play calling from Wash there at the end wtf

brownie, Sunday, 23 September 2007 23:30 (eighteen years ago)

I think Rudi Johnson must have something wrong, as Cinci did not play him much in the second half. The Bungles special teams blew the game against the Seahawks. Odd enough, the Cincy defense with a bunch of scrub linebackers off the streets seemed to play OK today. They gave up a couple of long pass plays, but they kept Alexander under wraps for most of the game.

The Steelers look pretty strong all the way around.

The Eagles and McNabb dropped the atom bomb on the Lions. I was blown away when I saw the halftime score was like 42 to 7 with three or four minutes before half time.

It kind of sucks that a couple of the early games which looked interesting were not on TV around here. I would have rather saw the Indy/Houston or SD/Packers games than Steelers/49ers.

That Giant/Redskin ending is exactly why you cannot blow your time outs in the second half. You have to have one in the pocket for plays like that one. Moss could have also checked himself out of the game or stayed down after the play, instead of trying to walk it off.

earlnash, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

The Steelers look pretty strong all the way around.

I would like to insert a horndog comment about Mike Tomlin here but am too drunk to think of one.

horseshoe, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

steelers look hardcore, they ran on like a 2 and 18 got 17 yards.

bnw, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

well this shit is boring as fuck i am bored now

jhøshea, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

jhoshea otm the Bears are always so boring to watch.

horseshoe, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

seriously, why is it that the coaching staffs/management of a club are always the last ones to see that a team just isn't going to win with their quarterback? the bears won last year in spite of grossman, not because of him and this year is more of the same. they are WASTING a truly dominant defense by not having a serviceable quarterback. you know you're in trouble when your special teams have a legitimate chance to finish the year with more touchdowns than your offense.

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

My tv doesn't have a SAP feature, or else I'd try it just for fun.

lol otm

there's seriously a rumor out there right now that some of the falcons actually BEAT DEANGELO HALL UP after the game!!!!!!

cankles, Monday, 24 September 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

i am on record all over this place as saying i don't think san diego is as good as pplz think they are! this is not to go against the patriots terrific play of the other night but i don't think the pats are THAT much better than they normally are, and in fact we do this every season so i don't know why i'm pointing this out.

-- the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, September 18, 2007 5:10 PM (6 days ago) Bookmark Link

this is proving to be pretty otm - the pats are probably http://bestmessageboardever.com/uploads/monthly_09_2007/post-1452-1189460592.jpg, and they're definately with indy as far as top two teams in the league, but they've also faced three REALLY REALLY SHITTY defenses in a row. it's clear that they're sweating a little re: how to compete with indy, they're built now for more explosive offense. and it looks great against the dregs of the league, but i want to see them go into pittsburgh or indy and win.

god i have so many boners 4 randy tho~

cankles, Monday, 24 September 2007 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

yah maybe - i like yellow things tho

^^^

anyway ya i agree, eagles throwbacks are ~*TYTE*~ imho. i love these olde tymey bullshits the modern unis are so gross~

cankles, Monday, 24 September 2007 07:45 (eighteen years ago)

yah ally's insight into the chargers is looking profound right now. but destroying bad teams isnt as meaningless as some would have you believe. seems indy and pitt are the other two good teams and the pats play both (and dallas too) - so they will be tested.

jhøshea, Monday, 24 September 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

indy failed to cover 2 of 3 games

jhøshea, Monday, 24 September 2007 12:01 (eighteen years ago)

pats have cincinnati and cleveland before facing dallas.
i don't think i would say san diego's defense is "REALLY REALLY SHITTY". they're fucked on the sidelines but their defense hasn't been any worse than last year. their offense isn't unstoppable like it has been, teams so far haven't had to pass to get back into games and field position has probably been affected too.

i'd much rather go against indy's defense than san diego's. but i'd much rather face san diego's offense & defense than indy's o&d.

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)

Eagles unis were great- i heard they wore those colors back in the 30's in honor of the large Swedish population. I think every week NFL teams should adopt a country and wear their flag colors.

brownie, Monday, 24 September 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

god that pats/clevo game could be the biggest blowout this year

brownie, Monday, 24 September 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

i'm looking forward to the monday night game @ cincy!

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

ok, sour ass grapes but making the kicker kick the game winning field goal twice at the end of a game sucks sour ass grapes. I can't believe that this is even allowed in our great land.

brownie, Monday, 24 September 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

i'm waiting for the time the officials say that the coach didn't call it in time since the clock is not reviewable under current replay rules.

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

they're fucked on the sidelines but their defense hasn't been any worse than last year.

The Chargers allowed the sixth least points in the NFL last year. The defense has definitely been worse than last year.

polyphonic, Monday, 24 September 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

btw, how about the return of kurt warner? eh?

j.q higgins, Monday, 24 September 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Even God can't help the Cards on the road.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

The defense has definitely been worse than last year.

37 yards per game more this year than last. defense is on the field more this year because the offense isn't sustaining drives. so i'm wrong, they are worse but not much worse and certainly not really really shitty.

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

the reaction in St. Louis when Warner blows his nose successfully is scary.

bnw, Monday, 24 September 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

37 yards per game more this year than last.

Who on earth judges a defense based on yards allowed?

polyphonic, Monday, 24 September 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

the nfl.

chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

none of the stats is perfect, but yards allowed is better than points allowed at accounting for e.g. bonehead QBs who turn the ball over on their own 20...

rogermexico., Monday, 24 September 2007 22:40 (eighteen years ago)

i really really like the FO stats when it comes to defense. the SD defense is noticably worse just by looking tho, none of the tenacity of last year's unit, none of the pressure from phillips & merriman to make up for the lackluster secondary. the offense is more likely to get its shit together this year than the defense, i think.

Vince Young looked tough last night. Young's throwing style so laid back, it is like he is flipping a frisbee. If the guy is this good after 16 starts, he could turn into an absolute freak.

Did Vince Young have any nicknames at UT?

earlnash, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

Honestly, the Titans could go 9-7 and could sneak in this year, but they look like a team that's gonna be worse than its record. They really need a solid wideout to start gellin'.
