Billick said Monday that the Jets' defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Baltimore offense. Billick claimed the tactic led to the three illegal procedure penalties against the Ravens.

"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."

Tackle Adam Terry bolted offside in the first and third quarters. Tight end Quinn Sypniewski jumped in the first quarter.

"That's not an excuse by any stretch of the imagination. But it is illegal," Billick said. "Our guys have to deal with it. I don't know how to help my linemen with that because, you're in the heat of battle and you're calling the snap count, and the guy across from you is also calling a snap count -- which is illegal."

I've been a Pats hater in the past, but I REALLY want the perfect season this year. Needless to say, I was on the edge of chair several times last night. And then the 4th quarter was a sublime play put on by the universe to give the Pats a win. Mistimed timeouts. Ridiculous penalties. Huge gaps for Brady to run in. It was better than any Michael Bay movie.

Well yeah, it wasn't so much that the Pats looked like they were slipping. There was a lot of good defense being played, but there were a few offense miscues with the Pats. Nothing awful, just something off. The Ravens were the first team this year to make the Pats look average for most of a game, as opposed to the Cowboys, Colts and Eagles only doing that for a quarter or two in those games.

McGahee + LOLtimore O-line pushed Pats D around like little kids until 4th quarter, when it seemed like they started getting tired and W.M. got dinged up a bit.

also, ravens were bringing some wacky blitz packages. i think it's been quite some time since any man has seen tom brady on his back so much.

It was more a function of McGahee playing like a Terminator last night than it was a sloppy Pats rush D. That dude would have been getting yardage against a 22-man defense.

It made no difference whatsoever. I mean, MAYBE they coulda run one back, and it would've helped to start from closer than the 20, but a touchback is a pretty good thing when you only have 50 seconds left.

granted the kick was INTO the wind but the fact is they may have had a chance at a decent return. 25-30 yards isn't really that far to go, as Brady has proved, in a short timeframe.
