Billick said Monday that the Jets' defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Baltimore offense. Billick claimed the tactic led to the three illegal procedure penalties against the Ravens.
"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."
Tackle Adam Terry bolted offside in the first and third quarters. Tight end Quinn Sypniewski jumped in the first quarter.
"That's not an excuse by any stretch of the imagination. But it is illegal," Billick said. "Our guys have to deal with it. I don't know how to help my linemen with that because, you're in the heat of battle and you're calling the snap count, and the guy across from you is also calling a snap count -- which is illegal."

godDAMN. such a heartbreaker when the Ravens stopped them on 4th and 1 and then it didn't count because the fucking sideline had called a timeout.
also that Ravens defender who got, like 175 yards of penalties called on him after the Gaffney TD needs to get ahold of himself.

brady press conf was funny. i didn't watch.. was super tired and finally gave up realizing i couldn't sleep, went online to check the score and si.com had simultaneous headlines 'ravens lead patriots late in 4th' and up on the scoreboard pats 27 - ravens 24, F. i was like.. phew!.. turned on the tv then. wtf @ ravens hail mary caught at the 1?? i want to see that. did the guy get tackled or just bad luck falling out of bounds?
― daria-g, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 07:27 (seventeen years ago)
tackled by about three patriots. it's pretty amazing he caught it
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 07:30 (seventeen years ago)
oh, ok. at least they got themselves downfield and made the tackle. if that one had been luck too i'd start to srsly worry
wish i had recorded teh game, i wonder if my wintv thing can do that? i saw the score like 7-3 baltimore & bmore in the red zone and i was like.. ok.. tired.. must sleep.. it'll prob work out. heard some dude in the building next door yelling "TOUCHDOWN!!!!!" near midnight, figured it had to be a close game so i better go see what's up
― daria-g, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 07:35 (seventeen years ago)

It was the best Monday night game I've seen this season, except maybe the crazy Bills & Cowboys game (was that one on Monday night?).
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 17:51 (seventeen years ago)
eh it was kinda wtf and stressful - wonderfully close but sorta weird
the ravens like the eagels last week were sooo pumped to beat pats - dont think they have to worry abt that phenomenon anymore as theyve got 2 playoff teams and 2 awful teams left.
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 18:00 (seventeen years ago)
I guess I like my MNF games all wtf and stressful, then.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago)
naw it was good - as i may have mentioned before ive just gotten a little too invested in this perfect season
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 18:09 (seventeen years ago)
I've been a Pats hater in the past, but I REALLY want the perfect season this year. Needless to say, I was on the edge of chair several times last night. And then the 4th quarter was a sublime play put on by the universe to give the Pats a win. Mistimed timeouts. Ridiculous penalties. Huge gaps for Brady to run in. It was better than any Michael Bay movie.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago)
theyve got 2 playoff teams and 2 awful teams left
LOL @ LOLPHINS
― am0n, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago)
it was a very good game if you desperately want the Pats to lose, i.e. you are me. and then it turned all heartbreaking. it was stressful.
― horseshoe, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:13 (seventeen years ago)
too bad it's not like hockey and you don't get two points for a win and one point for a tie or whatever. when you play the pats you could get one point for a "moral victory".
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:18 (seventeen years ago)
so what happened? why was it so close? is the pats d looking old and slow like they have the past two years again? injuries? superior execution by loltimore?
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:19 (seventeen years ago)
the Ravens played surprisingly well/both Brady and Moss seemed a little off.
― horseshoe, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:20 (seventeen years ago)
Roosevelt Colvin is injured right?
Well yeah, it wasn't so much that the Pats looked like they were slipping. There was a lot of good defense being played, but there were a few offense miscues with the Pats. Nothing awful, just something off. The Ravens were the first team this year to make the Pats look average for most of a game, as opposed to the Cowboys, Colts and Eagles only doing that for a quarter or two in those games.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:23 (seventeen years ago)
superior execution by loltimore?
McGahee + LOLtimore O-line pushed Pats D around like little kids until 4th quarter, when it seemed like they started getting tired and W.M. got dinged up a bit.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:27 (seventeen years ago)
also, ravens were bringing some wacky blitz packages. i think it's been quite some time since any man has seen tom brady on his back so much.
― j.q higgins, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:30 (seventeen years ago)
It was more a function of McGahee playing like a Terminator last night than it was a sloppy Pats rush D. That dude would have been getting yardage against a 22-man defense.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 20:32 (seventeen years ago)
um okay, but who said Pats rush D was sloppy? I just said they got pushed around.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 21:00 (seventeen years ago)
Only the Ravens could've fallen into a barrel of titties like that and come out sucking their thumb.
― Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

the hand of God must be controlling these games.
I mean seriously how do the Patriots just have this random shit happen at the end of games?
(yes, yes, I know they're great...but man this one hurt!)
I hope the idiot player who got flagged and then threw the flag in the stands gets benched. his team may have had a chance to get in FG range.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 23:44 (seventeen years ago)
his team may have had a chance to get in FG range.
It made no difference whatsoever. I mean, MAYBE they coulda run one back, and it would've helped to start from closer than the 20, but a touchback is a pretty good thing when you only have 50 seconds left.
And speaking of seconds, my favorite part of the whole ordeal was Boller throwing three straight passes right in the middle of the field. Tick, tick, tick...
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 00:01 (seventeen years ago)
err....you don't think starting at the 30 or 40 yard line makes a difference?
granted the kick was INTO the wind but the fact is they may have had a chance at a decent return. 25-30 yards isn't really that far to go, as Brady has proved, in a short timeframe.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 00:04 (seventeen years ago)
should have said kick was with the wind. typo

Terrell Suggs:
So I just two more questions for you. The championship games involve three bird teams. The Eagles, Cardinals, and Ravens. Just comparing mascots, who would win and why.
Oh man I think our mascot would win for the simple fact of his name. You know his name is after Edgar Allen Poe. So you have some history there and anywhere you got history...you got tradition and we got a tradition of whoopin' ass so I think our bird would win. You know, no disrespect to the other two birds, we love 'em, and I think Poe would get 'em.
