young lawyer milloy could hit a fucking linebacker.

seymour was on the list for a while but he has been pretty much m.i.a. this last season and a half :/

he's on the physically unable to perform list. obviously no one outside of camp belicheck knows for sure but rumor is he developed a staph infection from knee surgery.

El Tomboto, Monday, 15 October 2007 05:14 (eighteen years ago)

ok so I have to agree with hs
I love adrian peterson
BUT
if childress cannot make a playoff contender out of this team in the next year, he should be hung.

El Tomboto, Monday, 15 October 2007 05:19 (eighteen years ago)

i think they might make the playoffs because the bears sure aren't ;_;

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

when longwell made that kick did you see that childress almost accidentally kissed some dude on the sidelines when they hugged <3

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2007 05:58 (eighteen years ago)

the only answer to this right now is adrian peterson.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:04 (eighteen years ago)

peterson v. devin today was one for the ages. i can't believe i had the fucking rams game here.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

if childress wants to go to the playoffs he better have someone other than tavaris jackson at qb.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:06 (eighteen years ago)

jackson looked alright today i think. like if they can win when running the ball 42 times it really doesn't matter.

it's more troublesome that they gave up 31 pts to the bears.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

jackson looked alright today i think.

i think he had nine pass attempts in the game? bears d is cooked.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

i thought it was hilarious today when they were playing cover 2 when hester was @ wr like any safety could cover hester on a fly route when hester had a 20 yd running head start.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:12 (eighteen years ago)

bears o looks tite(r) right now. at least griese doesn't look like a clown back there.

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

he had that decent pass to williamson. trent dilfer school of not fucking up, but w/ peterson/taylor that might end up working.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

well their wrs were finally making plays after catching the ball.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

think he had nine pass attempts in the game?

i mean completions, 9/23 for 136 yards. take away that 60 yard bomb where archuletta was left in man coverage with no help and it was 22 plays for 76 yards which is grossmanlike in it's inefficiency.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

i thought it was hilarious today when they were playing cover 2 when hester was @ wr like any safety could cover hester on a fly route when hester had a 20 yd running head start.

hester was most effective as a decoy, he was clearing out the safeties and corners leaving olson and clark matched up on linebackers.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)

ok retract my statement about jackson. the fact that hester finally caught a ball is gonna multiply his worth as a decoy like crazy.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

by caught a ball i mean caught a bomb td.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

i'm looking forward to the day they finally try to bring him across the middle on a slant or something, it's gonna scare some defensive coordinator into a coronary.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:21 (eighteen years ago)

it's still gonna take time for him to turn into a real bonafide reciever just like it took dante hall a while. devin couldn't even catch on as a wr at miami even during games against like duke and nc st. i dont think my brain can handle the idea of devin hester being an every down wr just yet.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:46 (eighteen years ago)

i don't ever see him as anything more than what he's doing right now but i think the sight of him running anything other than the go/sland and go routes he's run so far would make some unsuspecting d coordinator swallow his tongue.

i would have gone to bed an hour ago if i hadn't stumbled across memphis belle on one of the spanish channels.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 07:00 (eighteen years ago)

AAAAAAYUUUUUUDDDDAAAAAAA MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 07:01 (eighteen years ago)

I have a special place in my heart for DeSean Jackson (who I grabbed late in the draft and seems like a gem - who might actually help to bring the Iggles to victory this year). But my favorite player this year is McNabb who just looked amazing these last two games. I haven't been this excited about a Philadelphia team since 2004.

still adrian peterson. that first half against the colts was stunning. i was kind of skeptical about him coming into his 2nd season, wondering if he would hit a sophomore dip, but i think the only thing that will stop him being a record-setting halfback is the number and size of the hits he keeps taking.

Sproles' touchdown in the 4th quarter (on a screen pass, right?) = !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It reminded me very much of his touchdown against the Colts in the playoffs. It was just like "hmm, this guy is about 1000x faster than anyone else on the field, and no one can see him."

cankles, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:29 (seventeen years ago)

that's a shame; i've always liked milloy. marshawn lynch had a hit-and-run in the offseason. the woman he hit didn't die, but still. :(

horseshoe, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

yeah :[ w/marshawn you can at least chalk it up a lil bit to youthful stupidity, but a man of lawyer's advanced years has no excuse. in general i dont care about off-field goings on wrt players, but those two subjects - domestic abuse and drunk driving - are really not made into a big enough deal league-wide.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)

wait, was it on frerotte? i am not sympathetic to white men casting aspersions on the masculinity of asian men, even in jest. if it was a black player, though, i don't care bc i am INCONSISTENT.

i am also free to cast aspersions on the masculinity of indian men.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

no it was a white guy but i don't remember which one. he didn't actually say the japanese are not very tough, i inferred it from his crazy machismo.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 22 September 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

i think you probably inferred right.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 September 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

I think my favorite player is Dallas Clark. That guy gets hit harder more often than any player in football. I've seen him get hit going for a pass a half dozen times that are just freakin' painful. Clark has that think like the old Bear Tom Waddle where he doesn't seem to keep common sense from letting him try to catch a pass when he knows he is going to get clobbered. Thing is about Clark he is often getting tagged by a huge ass linebacker instead of your usual safety or CB. Dallas will also make some of the craziest ass catches also like with two fingers and he wears #44 while playing TE. That's all pretty cool.

it's nice to have a team w/ a lot of personality. smoot was drafted a skin and is a fun character. cooley and portis are like two little riggos. santana moss is definitely low key, but is great. sellers is certifiable. kendall might end up being a coach or something...he breaks things down very well.

i like the improved on-field campbell, but he definitely veers in to bull durham-esque canned post-game quotes. i feel like maybe portis, etc. keep him a little loose. i think he's sort of funny in that geico commercial.

He's raffling the ring instead of auctioning it so all fans would have a chance to win it, not just the richest ones. Five tickets cost $10, and can be purchased at netraffle.org. Deadline for purchase is Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.

"After the decision to do the raffle was made,'' Cherry told me Saturday, "I said, 'Wow. I'm actually going to relinquish this ring.' It's not going to be easy. Before that season, I'd played football all my life, but I never won a championship. My high school team won one league game in Berkeley [Calif.]. I went to Cal. I started my career with the Saints, and we never won there.''

He got to the Patriots with the middle-class free-agency class of 2001, and as I reminded Cherry, that first Super Bowl team was a bunch of Je'Rod Cherries. It's fitting he won the ring with a bunch of blue-collar players like him.

Cherry's disappointed with the raffle kitty so far -- it's approaching $75,000 -- but he hopes even if the proceeds aren't what he hopes for, "I may spur someone who hears about this or reads about a person giving up such a prized possession to do something for others.''

what would a redskins fan have to argue about with a giants fan at this point in the season?

What about: who is your favorite player on each team in the NFL? Is there any team for which you can't think of anyone?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 19 October 2009 16:29 (sixteen years ago)

For most teams, I wouldn't be able to think of one. I was just thinking this yesterday, that except for rooting for the Saints and a few other players I really like, football players are just big shambling piles of statistics to me.

I think I remember reading that one of the guys in the Cowboys front seven is a real sweet, smart guy. Can't remember if it's Spears or Ratliff or someone else.

Upon looking at the Cowboys roster, apparently they have Igor Olshansky, who I liked when he was in college, and kind of also liked when he was on the Chargers. He is from the Ukraine!

they have this guy though! but he flaked out on the blog apparently and now tashard choice writes for it, and doesn't write about space aliens. but i like tashard choice too.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 19 October 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

There is nothing that would indicate Nnamdi Asomugha is anything other than a wonderful human being, right? Because I would think the Raiders would thin out pretty quickly after that if it turns out he likes to drive drunk or something. Maybe Lechler, if punters count?

This has also made me discover that the Bucs' TE depth chart involves Kellen Winslow Jr AND Jerramy Stevens. Yikes. They do have a DE named Stylez White, and I liked Aqib Talib back when he was at Kansas.

Asomugha is 100% my favorite Raider. On the field for sure, and then the philanthropic stuff he does off the field, he's so involved and I like guys who take that seriously...he's just a great, great all round guy. He's always pretty engaging in interviews too.

VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 19 October 2009 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

why is he in oakland?

Does the hole come standard or did you have to special order it (forksclovetofu), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:49 (sixteen years ago)

Because they drafted him and then franchised him over and over again.

And then they made him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

Wikipedia says he is color-blind, so maybe Al Davis just likes having another color-blind dude around, and the fact that he is awesome at football is kind of a bonus.
