Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 15:03 (seventeen years ago)

New Orleans-they have to win a game eventually, right?

yeah but not on the road in seattle at night. that stadium gets LOUD and there's nothing like a night game to get the crowd amped. though i don't know if that necessarily holds true on the west coast.

either way, they'll win sometime but it won't be this week.

WAS/GB and TEN/TB are the tough ones for me, and CAR/ARI a little. car and ari both have horrid QB situations (starters gone for season) but i guess arizona's the better overall team at this point and they're at home. Washington beating GB at home seems like a stretch, and they're missing more starters to boot, but I just got A FEELIN.

cankles, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

OMGWTFLOL CAR just signed Testaverde. Was Jeff George unavail?

rogermexico., Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:41 (seventeen years ago)

no fucking way! who's older, testy or carney?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

Testeverde is older than Elvis when he died.

I know Baltimore's favored by like 8.5 points against St. Louis, but I dunno. The Rams suck, but so does Baltimore?

I'm tempted to pick the Ravens in my survival league, but I have a weird feeling about it.

Patriots are going to wax Dallas. Cowboys had a short week after a late game.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

don't think so, cowboys will be focused and prepared, unlike at buffalo. probably were looking past buffalo to begin with. they'll still lose, but i don't think it will be a blowout.

hstencil, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:58 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know; I think NE is a LOT better than Dallas. that's what's so annoying about this season; both NE and Indy seem like they're playing in a different league than everyone else. boring.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago)

^^ i agree, and the season will be less fun after NE beat Dallas and show that

i suspect the Patriots will win comfortably even if it's not technically a blowout - i.e. the result will never really be in doubt past the 1st quarter. after the Bills game, the 'Boys will be concerned that wily Bill B will have seen too much of how to beat Romo and they'll probably look to change their offensive game to a more careful one that won't suit them.

Bobby's big prediction of the week: 'Boys to start cautiously and ineffectively, get majority of their scores in the 2nd half after the game is basically already put away.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:12 (seventeen years ago)

Imagine if Dallas turns the ball over like they did against Buf. 120-0 easy.

NE doesn't make mistakes and they sicken me.

brownie, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:13 (seventeen years ago)

brownie otm!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:19 (seventeen years ago)

it's fascist, like Kevin Costner says in Bull Durham

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:20 (seventeen years ago)

There are a bunch of games this week that I think are really close to call.

Tampa - This game could end up kind of fugly and I would not be surprised if the Titans win.

Bears - Chicago is at home and as long as they don't turnover the ball I figure they will be OK. It still should be close.

J-ville - Texans are kind of broken and knowing my luck the bad Jaguars will show up this week.

Cinci - If the Bengals D cannot stop KC, they won't stop anyone.

Washington - It is an upset, but I think the Skins are pretty good.

Ravens - Baltimore seems to be less this year, but the Rams are a mess.

Philly - The Jets seem more screwed up than the Eagles.

Cards - This is a pickem game. If the sack machine can stay upright, Carolina might win.

SD - The Chargers seem to be getting it back together.

NE - Can I just hope for a black hole to open and take both teams into the phantom zone?

Seahawks - Seattle stunk last week, but no one is stinking more than the Saints.

Giants - Falcons are going to win again at some point, but maybe the NYG's are decent.

earlnash, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

can LJ break 100 yds vs Cincy? probably not :(

bnw, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

MN @ CHI -- CHI: Griese will spend more time throwing to Viking DBs than to his own receivers, but CHI will probably win with a couple Gould FGs unless Peterson finds a seam two or three times.

MIA @ CLE -- CLE: Miami has been beaten by some terrible teams already, so this is really Cleveland's to lose.

WASH @ GB -- WASH: Redskins DEF is actually even stronger than Chicago's, so if Green Bay wins it'll have to be through the air.

CIN @ KC -- KC: This is more wishful thinking than anything, but if the KC DEF can keep Cincy under control, Croyle to Bowe should pick the Cincy DEF apart.

PHIL @ JETS -- PHI: Simple. Iggles don't stink as badly as Jets stink.

TN @ TB -- TB: This will be a low scorer, though.

HOU @ JAC -- HOU: Because Jags are at home playing and opponent they should defeat, ergo they lose.

STL @ BLT -- BAL: This is just a coin flip, really.

CAR @ AZ -- AZ: This is Arizona's year, dudes! ;)

NE @ DAL -- DAL: Upset pick? Sure.

OK @ SD -- SD: Hey ma! I fixed the offense!

NO @ SEA -- SEA: Like was mentioned above, games in Seattle are hard to win at night. Especially if you don't have wins anywhere else this year.

NYG @ ATL -- NYG: Didn't see any of the Giants game last week, but I'm just assuming the DEF still works like it did against Philly. And Atlanta is no Philly.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 11 October 2007 01:54 (seventeen years ago)

i can see that because i remember those years when the 49ers were head and shoulders above everyone else and it seemed it was a race for second place but the first year the pats won the superbowl they were playing a rams team that everyone said was destined to be remembered as one of the best ever.

i think the dallas game will be a close one but i think the pats will win. better qb and a better line. i can't wait for the indy game. is it at the razor or is it in indiana?

chicago kevin, Thursday, 11 October 2007 01:55 (seventeen years ago)

here are some things to know about the Clev/NE game last weekend:

NE punted 6 times! and the Browns did not pressure Brady at all. Yeah, let the Pats do a 6 minute drive but do not blow coverage like the Browns did. Make them get to the five yard line- do not give up the big play or turnover. The Pats are a machine and will destroy if you do.

The Pats can be beaten deep and with screens and delays if they blitz.

i'm basically repeating every cliche ever but damn

brownie, Thursday, 11 October 2007 02:34 (seventeen years ago)

NE's o-line has been RIDICULOUS this year. I haven't seen a game yet where Brady didn't have enough time to map the human genome back there.

cankles, Thursday, 11 October 2007 03:11 (seventeen years ago)

it's such a waste, cause he clearly can't do that shit. Peyton, on the other hand...

dudes colts/pats reminds me of suns/spurs last year. the rest of the league was just a formality.

Jordan Sargent, Friday, 12 October 2007 04:56 (seventeen years ago)

WASH @ GB -- WASH: Redskins DEF is actually even stronger than Chicago's, so if Green Bay wins it'll have to be through the air.

-washington's secondary looked pretty tough last week against detroit. it was amazing how much pressure the line got by keeping the linebackers and secondary in a pretty tight zone. having a healthy pierson prioleau makes such a huge difference.

j.q higgins, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

Bobby's big prediction of the week: 'Boys to start cautiously and ineffectively, get majority of their scores in the 2nd half after the game is basically already put away.

Not a big prediction. The Cowboys score, like, ALL their points in the second half.

MN @ CHI -- Bears could actually move back into contention for the NFC North. They still have problems in the running game. Benson is a bust. Greise is an up-grade to mediocre. Bears
MIA @ CLE -- The Browns juggernaut rolls on. Cleveland
WASH @ GB -- This will be a good game. Campbell's coming along nicely, but I think Farve will have more fun. Pack
CIN @ KC -- Da Bungles
PHIL @ JETS -- The Jets can't stop anyone. Philly
TN @ TB -- Vince looked really bad last week. Tampa has no healthy runners. Titans
HOU @ JAC -- Jax seems a little more consistent with Garrard at QB. MJD is back. Jax.
STL @ BLT -- The Ravens offense is horrible. McNair didn't practice on Thursday, but will most likely play. It's only a matter of time before he gets injured again behind a ramshackle offensive line and the team is Boller's. St. Louis is vying with KC and NO as the worst the NFL can offer. It's games like this that make me love college football. Bodymore.
CAR @ AZ -- David Carr vs. a re-born Warner. No contest. Though who knows how long before the bad Warner re-appears. The good David Carr never existed. Zona
NE @ DAL -- After last week can anyone still pretend that Dallas is in the same league as NE. NE
OK @ SD -- Oaklnad comes back down to earth. SD
NO @ SEA -- NO is dead to me. Hawks
NYG @ ATL -- Who cares. Giants

TN @ TB -- Vince looked really bad last week. Tampa has no healthy runners. Titans

EXCELLENT. (/burns)

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 13 October 2007 22:28 (seventeen years ago)

"Tampa has no healthy runners."

The Bucs signed one of my favorite Raiders in Zack Crockett this week. All Gruden needs to get is that hairy whiteboy fullback from Stanford whose head bleeds because of his helmet and Tampa is set.

for some reason i think carolina w/ vinny t will beat arizona or at least keep it close enough to cover.

v. weird (tho refreshing) to see tenn vs. tb as the fox game here in the northeast...is weird how the sched. falls as last week i had to go out to a bar to see giants vs. jets b/c it conflicted w/ pats.

johnny crunch, Sunday, 14 October 2007 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

Wow, really? In FL, they're showing Wash vs GB on Fox. We always get the Bucs game, so I have no idea what's going on (but I like it).

they kicked it away from him and he ran across the field and grabbed it at the sideline. replay shows literally 8 guys had a chance at him, he was hit four times.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 14 October 2007 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

it's not enough to kick it away from him now, you need to kick it out of bounds.

horseshoe, peterson is great, hopefully we'll get to see it. though with tavaris jackson at qb i haven't seen the bears linebackers more than three yards off the line of scrimage. seems like they're daring them to throw and the vikings aren't taking the bait.

2. is adrian peterson the best running back in the nfl (i'll answer this: yes)

Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

the only time minnesota has punted to hester was when it was a short field and they skied the punt giving plenty of time for the coverage to get down field. the one time he returned it they tried to punt it out of bounds but it didn't make it, he grabbed it at the sideline and took it back.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

chicago kevin, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

horseshoe, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

something like 67 yds 3 tds shows that he's actually a bonafide reciever now and just a deep threat w/ good games a year. i'm happy for dude.

Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

231 yards and 3 rushing tds. not sure about receiving right now.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 14 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

chicago kevin, Sunday, 14 October 2007 20:01 (seventeen years ago)

hstencil, Sunday, 14 October 2007 20:23 (seventeen years ago)

The Bengals D made KC's O look respectable. KC's D is not bad. I think Cinci is in the downward slide. I also think they should consider dealing off Chad Johnson in the off season. Let him go to the some other screwed up place and see how good he is with another QB. That crap Johnson does is cute when you are winning, but when you are losing you look like a palooka.

That Green Bay and Washington game was pretty fugly. Neither team could really establish much offensively in the second half. I think they are both about the same team really.

earlnash, Sunday, 14 October 2007 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

you think? cincy has only won one game. safe to say they've been sliding for the last four...

jhøshea, Sunday, 14 October 2007 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

"safe to say they've been sliding for the last four..."

More like sliding back from a team that might finish 8-8 to 4-12. Their slide really began in the final part of last season when they went 0-3 to close out. Marvin Lewis has not been able to put a decent defense together in Cincy. KC was able to control the ball and keep Cincy's offense off the field, which leads the Bengals into a one sided passing attack and Palmer was getting lit up. Johnson barking on the sideline about not getting the ball when his QB is getting killed and Ocho Cinco cannot get free from Patrick Surtain is not helping. I'd deal that big ego goof ball off for a good DT any day of the week.

To credit, the Bengals linebackers are mess. They have lost all of their starters this year to injury and lost two last year for good (one to booze and one to a broken neck), so they are playing with the scrubs of the NFL. Lewis can complain about them not playing together as a team, but when you bring in a bunch of malcontents and they decide not to get along, what do you expect?

I think no matter how bad it gets this year, unless Palmer was to start barkin', I think Lewis will be there next year. That being said, the fuse is lit and without some changes it will get to time to blow up this club and start over. I pretty much watch the Bengals every week, good or bad and the way they have played in the last few games sucks.

earlnash, Sunday, 14 October 2007 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

I'd deal that big ego goof ball off for a good DT any day of the week.

ok, that's just crazy. he's one of the best skill players in the league, if you want to build a d that's one thing but you don't castrate your offense in the process.

It is almost like NE is using their 3 wide outs kind of like the Colts did a couple of years ago. What is interesting is that the Colts offense the past year or so is more like NE's old model with power running and ball control passing.

I hope someone can beat the Pats, I know I would not want to see a world where they somehow went unbeaten and won a Super Bowl.

"dallas is kiiiiilllling themselves w/penalties"

They seemed to do that a bunch in the past couple of years when Parcells was coaching.

I'm probably being hard on Ocho Cinco, but the last couple of Bengals games have me pretty honked off.

Speaking of Vinny T., I wonder who is the oldest dude to throw a TD? It has to be either Don Strock or more likely George Blanda.

earlnash, Monday, 15 October 2007 01:19 (seventeen years ago)

I knew Don Strock was old as dirt late in his career, but he was only 38 in his last season. Criminy Vinny Testeverde is an old dude, but Blanda threw a TD in 74 when he was 47!

after morris went down the pats went back to the old charlie weiss offense where they wouldn't run off tackle, they'd throw a wide receiver screen or a four yard hitch. i think it was 2001, the first superbowl win? brown had over 100 receptions and antowain smith had a little over 1,000 yards?

holmgren's bungling of the end of the game tonight was inexcusable. if john madden is sonning you in the sense dept. you might want to reconsider what you're doing w/ your life.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 06:49 (seventeen years ago)

i'd say they have another year left but i don't see any of them getting long term extensions done anymore. hasselbeck probably has the longest shelf life of them, i think he's only 32. he should have four more years in him if he can stay healthy.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 07:05 (seventeen years ago)

hasselbeck's srsly only 32? he seems so much older

this pats team might be the best i've ever seen. i mean, the best football team. ever. they're like the 96 packers up in this piece. ironically.

cankles, Monday, 15 October 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago)

I am withholding judgment until they play Indy + Pittsburgh. (also bc he is old, Cris Collinsworth calling NE the best team he's ever seen was tantamount to saying they're the best team ever. Costas jumped all over him for it, but Costas maybe doesn't know what he's talking about. still, learn how to spell "chris," Cris Collinsworth!)

horseshoe, Monday, 15 October 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

im wondering how indys injury situations gonna play out - like are they really just a bunch of minor situations or are they more nagging or worse than originally thought.

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:03 (seventeen years ago)

As much as I'm loathe to admit it, I think I agree with Collinsworth (and ade) on this. The first season of football I ever actively watched was in 1985 when I was 11 years old, and in 22 years I know I've never seen a more complete and more dominating team.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:04 (seventeen years ago)

Costas jumped all over him for it,

That was kind of surprising.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:05 (seventeen years ago)

costas was just being all OMG ITS ONLY WEEK 6!!! aka his usual tedious self

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago)

I think people just like being mean to Collinsworth because he is a douche. but he's not dumb.

it's pathetic how much it would bother me if the Pats were really as good as people think they are. I need to get a life.

horseshoe, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

bc does this mean they will win the next 4 super bowls or some shit? I don't know if I'm up for that, dudes.

horseshoe, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:25 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not either. ugh.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:26 (seventeen years ago)

hard to keep teams together these days so i dont think you guys have to worry abt prolonged dominance. i think both moss and welker (or maybe stallworth) are on 1 year deals.

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:29 (seventeen years ago)

i do think you guys should sit back and enjoy instead of being such haters. its not like the pats are some lame-ass defense/ball-control team - theyve got moss and theyre fun.

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

dudes, THIS YEAR'S TEAM is a great one. and just because this year's team is good that has nothing to do with next year. this isn't baseball where you can predict with some success future results based on previous output.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

what he said.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

i do think you guys should sit back and enjoy instead of being such haters.

this is good advice, but it seems unlikely to happen!

horseshoe, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

As much as I'm loathe to admit it, I think I agree with Collinsworth (and ade) on this. The first season of football I ever actively watched was in 1985 when I was 11 years old, and in 22 years I know I've never seen a more complete and more dominating team.

really? i mean, miles to go before we sleep and all, but i feel like early johnson cowboys, late walsh niners and late gibbs i skins were this type of team (ie very good defensively, but almost able to score at will).

j.q higgins, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

yeah theyre looking like those teams - which is pretty scary considering teams like that arent supposed to be possible anymore

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:50 (seventeen years ago)

higgy, i was in your camp prior to this past game. but look at the sheer number of points they're putting up, johnson's cowboys or walsh's niners didn't put up these kinds of numbers. they played the third best offensive team in the league, played a shitty game defensively (second lacksluster game in a row for the d) and still won on the road by two touchdowns and if there had been more time on the clock would've won by more.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:54 (seventeen years ago)

and they did that using their 3rd down receiving back and a dude scooped off the practice squad.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:58 (seventeen years ago)

has Belichick seemed really toned-down to y'all in press conferences this season? it's kind of disappointing.

horseshoe, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, they're even more frightening the more I think about it.

They play the Colts in 2 weeks, right? If they win that, I'll go ahead and crown their asses. xp

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago)

I noticed that he wasn't wearing his ragtop for the game last night xp

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

they actually won by 3 tds kev

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

it should be mentioned that 10 of dallas' points cant really be hung on the d

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

i'd just like to point out that the pats are basically doing right now what the warner/faulk/holt/bruce rams did in their prime. just completely bludgeoning people. if they run over indy/pitt, 'best team ever' might be warranted.

Jordan Sargent, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

Also, T.O. saying they're not that great = total roffles.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

has Belichick seemed really toned-down to y'all in press conferences this season?

i don't see how he could be any more toned-down than he has been in the past without vast quantities of seconal, quaaludes, and bourbon. i mean the guy was borderline comatose before.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

yeah but w/those rams teams their d was never considered to be that good

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago)

Johnson barking on the sideline about not getting the ball when his QB is getting killed and Ocho Cinco cannot get free from Patrick Surtain is not helping. I'd deal that big ego goof ball off for a good DT any day of the week.

-- earlnash, Sunday, October 14, 2007 9:06 PM (Yesterday) Bookmark Link

yeah, no. one of the few things you have to give brian billick credit for over the years is that in spite of his (considerable) ego he always made sure to build to the strength of the Ravens, ie. defense. obviously ozzie newsome wouldn't let him throw everything out the window like that even if he wanted to, but he knows where his bread is buttered and takes care of that side of the ball. the bengals need all the help in the world on defense but if you start siphoning off the best players on your *best unit* you will probably just end up with an all-around mediocre team.

chad j is one of the top 15 players in the league. MAYBE one dt is in the top 20.

RONG

It is almost like NE is using their 3 wide outs kind of like the Colts did a couple of years ago. What is interesting is that the Colts offense the past year or so is more like NE's old model with power running and ball control passing.

yeah, the thing is the Colts HAVE to play like that now because everyone (correctly) plays them two deep. they had to have a great short passing game, which is what won them the SB. they'll still make the big plays if they're made available, but basically they are just a super efficient defense-murdering machine rn. in the Dallas game last night I was actually thinking about this re: NE, because they kept going deep at inappropriate times and reminded me of when Peyton would get stuck in that rut where he would try to be a superhero too much. hopefully NE learns that lesson sooner rather than later~~~

or what cankles said!~ ^^^^

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

has Belichick seemed really toned-down to y'all in press conferences this season?

Since the CHEAT CHEAT CHEATERZZZZZ!!!!! thing blew up, yeah. I think he's trying to stay way under the radar, and nuking opponents every week isn't helping him do that.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

sry i just cant abide the comparison - there was something so cheap abt those rams teams

i mean mike martz, kurt warner's wife, kurt warner

jhøshea, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:45 (seventeen years ago)

wait wait wait.... when did belicick seem anything BUT bloodless in press conferences?

the thing about those rams teams is that once the pats exposed how to beat them (jamming the receivers at the line and then HITTING them when they tried to catch it as opposed to playing cover two and trying to keep the recievers in front of the safties) they weren't the same team. there has to be a way to beat this current pats offense but i don't know if/when anyone will find it. randy moss is doing the same things he's been doing for years, donte stallworth has been playing similarly for the past three years while welker and watson haven't changed how they play.

the one thing that really impresses me about this team is the o-line, brady has all day to find a receiver and they're making sammy morris look like an all-pro. hell, even kevin faulk averaged 4 yards per carry after taking over when morris got injured.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

In all, Hester touched the ball 10 times for 353 all-purpose yards.

change the name to the chicago hesters.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

yeah it was kinda shocking to see dallas get any sort of rush yesterday

1-5-5 defense will beat the Pats. The browns played a 1-4-4 against them and held them to 34, just think what 11 defensive players could do in that scheme.

brownie, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago)

1-5-5 defense will beat the Pats.

that's what the jets ran against them. did not work.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago)

2-10-10 will do it

omar little, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:08 (seventeen years ago)

But they're the Jets.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:13 (seventeen years ago)

lessons from Pats/Browns game = Browns win if Belichick doesn't cheat

brownie, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

*cheat = start Brady and Moss and Welker and Watson

brownie, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

what did tennessee and houston do to indy to make the games so close? other than make them travel out of indiana that is? colts next two games could be tough for them.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:39 (seventeen years ago)

Tennessee even blocked an extra point attempted by Indy. The Titans were just hot that day, though not hot enough to beat the Colts.

And maybe this belongs on the Annoying Commercial thread, but while Peyton Manning is tall, he's not the freaking giant he's portrayed as in that Sony commercial where he walks into some people's living room and asks where the chips at.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 15 October 2007 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

I think all football players look like that next to normal people, though. even, like, Doug Flutie, probably.

old ny titans of the afl.

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 21:44 (seventeen years ago)

I completely misread all of that.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 15 October 2007 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

Looking forward to those throwback Panthers jerseys.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 15 October 2007 21:54 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't flip over to Sunday night football until the last couple of minutes and was really surprised to see the Saints were winning. The Seahawks must thank their lucky stars for being in the NFC West, as that is the only way that ratty team will make the playoffs, especially considering that the Cards are down to Tim Rattay at QB and the 49ers have no offense at all.

"what did tennessee and houston do to indy to make the games so close?"

I think they able to make the Colts take field goals instead of TDs enough in the red zone to make it interesting. Other than the year when Manning was throwing crazy amounts of TDs, the Titans seem to play Indy pretty tough. A long time ago before NE became the Colts arch nemesis, it used to be that Jeff Fisher and the Titans had Manning's number.

The Bears need to figure out how to get Hester on the field more often on offense. Chicago need to try and get Hester the ball a time or two each half, just to see if he can make something happen. Even as a threat, he might help their running game a bit, as they will have to have someone zoning on him. Though if the Bears D has weeks like this one, nothing will help.

earlnash, Monday, 15 October 2007 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

The Bears need to figure out how to get Hester on the field more often on offense.

he's in on a fair amount of snaps but it seems like EVERYONE on the defense is acutely aware when he steps on the field. that's why i think the te's will have good #'s while he's out there. i wonder what olson/clark did yesterday...

chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

olson had 5 grabs (tied for team lead) for 63 yards, clark had 3 grabs for 48 yards. clark is second on the team for the year in receptions.
