garrard's bookie is indeed thick as well~

Can anyone explain why the Jags didn't try to kick a field goal at the end of the first half? They were on the Pittsburgh thirty with a timeout and ran a play that ended with about two seconds left; don't you call the to and kick? Would've saved a lot of Al Michael's angst.
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 6 January 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)
aids: I went to college under PATYENY MAANGINGO but if I have anything appraoching an ancestral home it is either charleston county GA (home of the baileyz, go indians) or huntsville AL - therefore JAGS, since that gives me the option of actually discussing pro ball with relatives when I am "home" for the "holidays"

great game.
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 6 January 2008 07:55 (seventeen years ago)
madden's seeming epiphany that garrard never was going to pass that 4th down draw was the highlight of the game for me

― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 6 January 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
me either, after yesterday.. bummed about my redskins, but the pitt-jax game was fantastic
i was more worried about that after the first half but jax almost blew it in the second.. why do i keep hearing jags are a tough match against ne?
― daria-g, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)
people think the jags can run the ball on the pats enough to control the clock, keep the ball out of brady's hands, etc etc...i want to believe. jax will still be prob like a 2 td underdog id say
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)
jaguars are still going to lose but i think the steelers w/o parker are custom made to be chewed up by the pats. i think the pats will control the clock against jax. welker and gaffney will probably be the main targets of 5-9 yard passes.
― chicago kevin, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:26 (seventeen years ago)
the jags look suspect against a strong passing offense to be sure, deep or dink and dunk - otoh they have at least one d-tackle who isn't alien to the concept of picking off a laser, the whole leftfield factor seems to work for them (and makes me love their teal sleeper ass even more)
― El Tomboto, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:35 (seventeen years ago)
it looked like they had no trouble putting pressure on rofflesburger so that's why i figure the p-men will go to the short game. it eats the clock and moves the chains.

I liked the Giants game for the fact that the fairweather Buc fans can pack it in again.
I still say if they would actually put together consecutive losing seasons for say, 3 years, their fanbase would start approaching that of the Creamsicle jersey years.
but they never do, they keep alternating good and bad years.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)
that was not a td
dude "tulloch" who made the initial hit on LT went to my hs
it was totally a TD!
― horseshoe, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)
yeah it probably was but i really wanna see philip rivers lose
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)
i think we can just call any not quite young enough wildly inconsistent qb "eli" from now on
― jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)
these two teams should be ashamed of themselves for even existing.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 7 January 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)
i'm gonna go dye my eyelashes, that seems more interesting than this game.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 7 January 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)
im gonna cook up pancakes bacon and some eeeeeeggzah!
― jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:31 (seventeen years ago)
i don't have to watch this game anymore or anything else ever because Ive been blinded by phil simms's SHIRT.
― horseshoe, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:32 (seventeen years ago)
while rivers is a mediocre qb, and douchebag of epic proportions from what i can figure, there was no other possible outcome for this game. to my disappointment.
im not surprised that martyball failed for the nth time in the playoffs last yr, but for him to have lost and norv to have won- thats not justice.
― Hunt3r, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:36 (seventeen years ago)
yah well hes gonna lose in the same round marty did anyway
― jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:37 (seventeen years ago)
I disagree wholeheartedly that he's mediocre.
I think it's Turner's idiotic coaching in the first half of the season.
Look at how good Rivers looked last year in comparison.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 7 January 2008 00:37 (seventeen years ago)
ban bo jackson
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 00:56 (seventeen years ago)
j/k but rivers sucks fat nuts
did you see that pass to chambers??? if he threw it 7 yards further (as any competent qb would have) chambers would have WALTZED into the endzone instead of having to have lt dive into the end zone for a dubious td
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 00:57 (seventeen years ago)
no, i was watching the game where eli sucked donkey balls and would have been blown out if he was playing an nfl team. lucky for him he was playing the buccaneers.
seriously, do you think that was a quality game?
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 02:33 (seventeen years ago)
I seriously don't know what you're talking about, chicago kevin.
Were there moments when, while being hurried, he made sloppy throws? Yea. But if that makes one a bad QB, then there's probably 2 good QBs inthe entire NFL.
He was monumental on the two touchdown drives, made some very nice (and tough) throws, and protected the football. He even made strides in avoiding the sack by stepping up in the pocket.
I know you must have disdain for all things Manning, but as mediocre as he is normally, he wasn't today.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 7 January 2008 03:09 (seventeen years ago)
E. Manning 20 27 185 74.1 6.9 1 8 2 0
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 03:10 (seventeen years ago)
^^^this is a completely solid game
also like david garrard's stats for every game this year
― J0rdan S., Monday, 7 January 2008 03:11 (seventeen years ago)
ya, he was very impressive, and it isn't like he was playing a slouch defense. it was upon him to create the offense for much of the game. the running game opened up a little after he aired it out, too.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 7 January 2008 03:11 (seventeen years ago)
I don't know, guys, I'm pretty pleased with Rivers. I'd rather have him than David Garrard on a long-term basis.
― polyphonic, Monday, 7 January 2008 07:18 (seventeen years ago)
Manning looked good against an extremely daunting offense. I'm not saying he has two chances in hell against Dallas, but give him his due; this was one of the solid games for him.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 7 January 2008 13:05 (seventeen years ago)
you're absolutely right, it was a solid game. i tuned out during the 3rd quarter. my original lol you suck was in reference to a particular throw where the back was wide open about 7 yards away and eli threw a 5 yard pass. immediately after that he caught fire and i went record shopping.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
dude you sound like a complete psychopath whenever you discuss the mannings. "no offense" or anything. did archie manning kill yr dog or something?
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 7 January 2008 18:09 (seventeen years ago)
"none taken". yes, archie killed my dog.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
ck's beloved brady wouldn't be one of them, btw, which makes that more lolilicious.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 7 January 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
dont tell me yr getting yr hopes up abt eli again - he'll hurt you - just like the other times
― jhøshea, Monday, 7 January 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

as good a day as eli may have had i had a better one, i found an original mono pressing of a bo diddley album on chess at a church sale on the south side for 2 bucks.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)
which record, ck?
(and i think guy whimper deserves his own thread)
― j.q higgins, Monday, 7 January 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

my cover is kind of battered (the back especially) but the record is in great shape for a 49 year old piece of vinyl.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)
cool. pre-rectangular guitar diddley!
y'know? the guitar/drums thing is totally played. someone needs to resurrect the guitar/drums/maracas trio!
― j.q higgins, Monday, 7 January 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, there are pictures on the back cover of him with what looks like a precursor to the rectangle, this one almost looks like a cross between a gibson explorer and an inverted flying v or something. it looks like it could and perhaps did double as a weapon.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 7 January 2008 20:32 (seventeen years ago)
Not with a bang, but...
