OK see somehow I am involved in an NFL pool thing for mondo money and lolz. The only thing I know about footballz really is I like the COLTS and I also like the STILLERS.

So what I'd like to do here is steal one of ya'll's picks. But whose shall I choose? This is the question.

Tempted to go with dar1a's because then we can watch games together and root for same teams to win.

But I am open to other opinions.

Help me NFLxors I need picks!

I'm thankful the preseason is over, though you can never really tell in the NFL anymore who is any good for a month or so.

TENNESSEE at PITTSBURGH - I figure this one will be kind of ugly. Go with the Steelers at home.
MIAMI at ATLANTA - Who knows...I suppose i'll go TO LEGIT TO QUICK and take the Dirty Birds, but to be honest I'm still not quite sold on Atlanta or Miami.
DENVER at CINCINNATI - I'm going Cincy. If everything falls into place, the Bengals could surprising team. Of course, that is kind of like picking the Indians or Cubs to win.
MINNESOTA at CLEVELAND - I'd think the Vikings. Sports talk radio won't shut up about the game either way, but they might be a bit less if the Viks win.
JACKSONVILLE at INDIANAPOLIS - This has been a rockem sockem hitting game for the past few seasons. I'm going Indy, as if they get up on J-ville by a couple of scores, I just don't see how the Jags can get back in the game. Fred Taylor is not also around to run for 200 yards, which I think he has did twenty times against the Colts.
DETROIT at NEW ORLEANS - I'd think the Saints. I figure NO will probably be fun to watch but kill their fans, as if their D is like last year, no lead is safe. Every team in the NFL is going to be yelled at not to be the guy who first lets the Lions beat them.
DALLAS at TAMPA BAY - Who the heck are the Bucs anymore? I figure Dallas is going to be pretty mediocre, but I'd figure they should win this one on the road.
PHILADELPHIA at CAROLINA - Carolina is OK and totally boring except when Jake D. throws passes to the other squad. I figure they are going to go back. Coming into the year, I figure the Eagles are my favorite to go to the Superbowl in the NFC, so Eagles it is.
KANSAS CITY at BALTIMORE - I can't see B-more having everything fall into place like last year, but KC is pretty much a wreck and at best is going to have it's new QB coming in at less than 100%. That is kind of like blood in the water when you are playing the Ravens. I'll go b-more.
NY JETS at HOUSTON - I'm kind of betting on Sanchez to be another bust. Maybe I'll be wrong, but I figure the dude was playing with the best of the best and yet wasn't as good as Palmer. I'm figuring he is a bit overrated. Houston has a pretty decent D, a couple of good guys on offense and one of these years is actually going to pan out. Not sold on the QB in Houston, but I'll go Texans.
WASHINGTON at NY GIANTS - I could see Wash as one of those clubs that is between 6-10 and 10-6, either way they won't go anywhere. Not sold on the Giants passing attack, but if you just hand it to their backs they should be alright. I figure the Giants should be pretty good, so I'm going New York.
SAN FRANCISCO at ARIZONA - The 49ers played better down the stretch, but I'll go Cards this week. The fact that AZ came close to winning a Superbowl is still weird, but last year was a weird year. It had to be an aberration.
ST LOUIS at SEATTLE - Who knows about the Rams, I have no idea on them other than they have sucked the past two years. It seems they still have some of the same dudes but have a new coach, which so does Seattle. Seahawks are pretty tough to beat up there, but I don't think it has rained in a month or something. I'll go Seattle.
CHICAGO at GREEN BAY - I'm going Bears and I hope they freaking destroy Green Bay. Alphonso Carreker must pay for his sins, the bastard.
BUFFALO at NEW ENGLAND - I could care less on this one, but there is no way I'm taking the Bills on a road game in NE. It will be interesting to see how good NE defense is this year. Vrabel and Seymour came up with tons of huge plays over the years. I'm sure Peyton Manning isn't going to miss either one.
SAN DIEGO at OAKLAND - I won't pick them to beat SD, although SD does find weird ways to lose games. Call me crazy, but I could see Oakland being better than last year. Hear me out, Oaktown's D played decent down the stretch last year and Russell seemed a snack cake better at QB. If they can keep McFadden healthy and out of jail, I could buy a running game. Putting all of that and a weak ass schedule in the AFC West together, I could see the Raiders squeaking in at 9-7. This all might be the booze talking with fond memories of Jim Plunkett and how he won me a $100 bet once. Still... I'm not crazy and will go with the Bolts. Hopefully the Raiders have changed the playbook since Norv Turner was around, that didn't work out so hot the last time.

earlnash, Thursday, 10 September 2009 02:19 (fifteen years ago)

you're not the first person i've seen talking themselves into the raiders, and much love but you guys are all crazy.

well, in fairness to the o-line, ben WAS the one who decided to run 30 yards the wrong direction to "escape" a sack and then get sacked. that was positively farvian. but yeah they are all kinds of mess.

any taking a knee discussion (now moot) is fucking retarded because this is not that westbrook play where he had clear path to the end zone, the defense was swarming and NO nfl player just fucking turtles in that situation

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 September 2009 03:49 (fifteen years ago)

do you know how much shit he would've gotten if he just took a dive there, 4 yards from the end zone? i mean...what are you talking about, dude!

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 September 2009 03:52 (fifteen years ago)

what player is going to take a knee in that situation? come on

westbrook did something similar, except if i recall correctly the iggs were up at the time. taking a knee there would have been retareded if you're not already winning because scoring isn't guaranteed

k3vin k., Friday, 11 September 2009 03:55 (fifteen years ago)

That was a grinder.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 11 September 2009 03:56 (fifteen years ago)

theres middle ground between taking a knee and swinging the ball with one arm. dude was going for the end zone full throttle when hanging onto the ball should have been priority one.

bnw, Friday, 11 September 2009 04:01 (fifteen years ago)

well no one is debating that, if collinsworth had said "man he should have better ball control" we'd be like true, true

everyone kills people (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Friday, 11 September 2009 04:03 (fifteen years ago)

eh it was an excellent individual play on defense. no wr holds the ball with two hands like a running back.

k3v that was my recollection (just thinking about it while brushing teeth)--the eagles had the lead and westbrook had no defenders around him.

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 September 2009 04:04 (fifteen years ago)

in any event i have no idea why the titans decided to play to "ben's" strengths for the entire 2nd half

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 September 2009 04:04 (fifteen years ago)

it was a clock thing with westbrook, not wanting to give the ball back. and yeah, the prevent defense is the most retarded thing ever.

bruschi is on the espn w/postgame commentary. guy is strangely.. extremely soft spoken. seems like an ex-marine or something.

j.q higgins, Friday, 11 September 2009 05:59 (fifteen years ago)

it wasn't nec. a prevent they were just rushing 4 and playing straight zone behind them. they blitzed ineffectively like 2 or 3 times. against a qb who loves to improv and extend the play this was a dumbshit idea that clearly wasn't working.

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 September 2009 11:13 (fifteen years ago)

really, no qb should get that much time, but it also seemed like when guys were getting into the backfield, it wasn't anyone that would actually be able to take roffles down. i mean, it seems like he can shake off defensive backs and a lot of linebackers w/o too much difficulty.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis has dismissed reality TV star Tila Tequila's accusations that San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman choked her and threw her to the ground early Sunday.

Dumanis announced Friday afternoon there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Merriman committed a crime. Tequila had signed a citizen's arrest warrant charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment, both felonies.

"This case is now closed," Dumanis said in a statement.

TD CRIBBS HE IS MY GOD NOW

Mario Brosephs (Pancakes Hackman), Sunday, 13 September 2009 18:20 (fifteen years ago)

omg this is hilarious - i traded my starting QB for another QB and didn't double check the roster. i kind of assumed they'd automatically switch as starters, but that didn't happen and i forgot to look, so somehow JAKE DELHOMME is the qb on my ilnfl team

awesome!

daria, actually (daria-g), Sunday, 13 September 2009 18:36 (fifteen years ago)

the other hilarious part is that i traded away mcnabb to do that. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. now watch eli (who I THOUGHT WAS STARTING FOR MY TEAM BUT IS NOT) take apart the redskins defense irl because all the points WILL NOT COUNT

daria, actually (daria-g), Sunday, 13 September 2009 18:37 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha aw

dorroughmac (k3vin k.), Sunday, 13 September 2009 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

i kind of assumed they'd automatically switch as starters, but that didn't happen and i forgot to look, so somehow JAKE DELHOMME is the qb on my ilnfl team

I kept waiting to see if you were gonna update your roster, because your qb slot was blank up until just before kickoff. So I literally flipped a quarter to decide your qb.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 13 September 2009 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

oh is that what happened? sorry! my yahoo login kept fucking up (google chrome does not like yahoo?) so i gave up & then just forgot. i just assumed it'd throw eli in there but really i don't care, though it would be extra funny if i could get negative points for starting delhomme instead of leaving it blank!

daria, actually (daria-g), Sunday, 13 September 2009 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

Carrot Top Plastic Surgery news is not a new thing his transformation began long before 2007 this most famous American comedian is famous for his red hair, self created humor and now for his muscular body and Plastic surgery.

Carrot Top has become another victim of plastic surgery, his face look extremely smooth because of the result of laser treatments or chemical peels but his past natural appearance cannot be seen after this awful facial plastic surgery.

Dr. Youn his plastic surgeon said “His face looks extremely smooth as well, and may be the result of laser treatments or chemical peels.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia tells that his face is looking more freckles free as compared to freckles that are seen on the remaining body

But most of the critics are totally annoyed of his facial plastic surgery because of odd looking eye brows. They say that he is looks like a female because of the eyebrows angle created by the plastic surgeon. Some of the critics said he is looking like a female body builder and he looks very ugly even after that surgery.

During a conversation Jet H. Ross passed this comment about carrot top, he said “if Carrot Top wants to be made of fun that he has achieved his goal by plastic surgeries, but I think it would rather be make the fun instead of made of fun”.

drama. players don't like zorn, don't have confidence in campbell, zorn doesn't have confidence in campbell, portis hates zorn, snyder and portis are BFF.. at least that's what was going on last year

daria, actually (daria-g), Sunday, 13 September 2009 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

dorroughmac (k3vin k.), Sunday, 13 September 2009 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

gutsy. especially being at that point of having fucked up so much in this game, botching a trick play like that might just be the last straw so that dan the snyder fires zorn at halftime

daria, actually (daria-g), Sunday, 13 September 2009 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

That fake field goal call was obviously coming from a left handed QB. I doubt Tom Coughlin even knows that is possible, considering his idea of advanced offense is running a sweep instead of a draw.

Both ex-Colts with the big odd TD plays today...Hunter Smith and Brandon Stokely.

I watched the Colts/Jags game which is the first day game I can remember with the roof open at Lucas Oil Stadium, it looks terrible on TV. The shadows in that place are worse than a day game was at Texas Stadium.

earlnash, Sunday, 13 September 2009 22:23 (fifteen years ago)

washington look poorly coached. players seems don't seem to know what their assignments are, and their awareness and situational play is poor. campbell makes bad decisions.

The offense gamecalling for the 49ers was pathetic. The only thing that saved them was some nice long conversions by Bruce and Davis, because they were in third and long all day. Wouldn't be too pumped about beating the Cardinals with no Breaston and Boldin dealing with a hamstring problem. Also, the Cardinals had SOOOOO many penalties.

Still, the 49ers defense will knock your block off. Patrick Willis was a monster, as usual.

When they were talking before the game about how Urlacher was the healthiest he'd ever been and was on track to be an unnatural force this season, I secretly thought "uh oh, here comes the injury."

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 September 2009 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated right wrist -- a major blow for a team with high expectations.

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't see how a dislocated wrist could keep a linebacker out for the season. Couldn't he just wear a cast? I guess it would be hard to wrap up tackles one-handed, but that didn't stop Junior Seau in the playoffs when his arm was dangling and useless.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 14 September 2009 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

At the very least, he could challenge opposing players to an honor duel.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 September 2009 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe something where it would've caused permanent damage without quick surgery? I mean, they operated this morning so time must've been a factor.

EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE! (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 September 2009 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

Probably a direct hit over the next several months could undo the surgery?

EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE! (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 September 2009 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

I guess.

I really hate how Brian Urlacher speaks. His cadence (or something) irks me.

schef i think we're just supposed to ignore that in NFL, there are enough random/unfair calls and non-calls on key plays to make many games & probably every single season turn out completely differently. i decided to just accept this and love football anyway.

daria, actually (daria-g), Tuesday, 15 September 2009 04:14 (fifteen years ago)

not when identical plays within an hour of each other are called entirely differently, resulting in turns of fortune in both games, i think it's pretty fair game to call that bullshit. (in both games, it should've been called a catch) that's how rules get changed/clarified.
