Minnesota at Green Bay → I'm going with the Vikings again even after screwing the pooch last week. Brett is all about the show, and winning in Green Bay is the showiest kind of show.Seattle at Dallas → Schizo Seabirds can't get it together in Jerryworld. Miles Austin has a bad week, though.Cleveland at Chicago → Chicago is a terrible team at this point, but as terrible as Cleveland? We'll see.Denver at Baltimore → Like others, I'm with the Broncos until they lose. Ravens aren't impossible to beat at home.Houston at Buffalo → Even if Andre Johnson is out or playing hurt, Schaub still has Slaton and Jones.Miami at New York Jets → Miami already beat them once in a close game, and I think it's going to happen again.San Francisco at Indianapolis - Is this the second coming of Alex Smith? Oh wait, the FIRST coming of Alex Smith? The Flying Peytons beat them by two scores.St. Louis at Detroit - This is probably the only time this season I'll feel comfortable picking the Lions to win a game.Oakland at San Diego - San Diego beat the Chiefs 37-7, and the Raiders aren't even the Chiefs.Carolina at Arizona → Carolina gets flattened in the desert. Delhomme is invited to join the Federal Witness Protection Program at the game's conclusion.Jacksonville at Tennessee → Why would Tennessee start winning now?New York Giants at Philadelphia → Not impressed with either club right now, but will take the Iggles at home.Atlanta at New Orleans → I don't know why Atlanta's not clicking like they should, but a close victory over a shitty Chicago team and a big loss to a shitty-ish Dallas team don't instill me with much confidence re: an upset. Saints win.
A miserable 6-7 last week, but still 71-32 on the season.

8-5 last week. it was my first week making picks, so i'm 8-5 on the season, obvs. here we go, week 8:
Minnesota @ Green Bay - Rodgers gets his revenge.Seattle @ Dallas - Would love to see Romo have another one of his famous 5-turnover games here. But Seattle's weak and Cowboys are at home so I go with them.Cleveland @ Chicago - Bears in a squeaker. Not really.Denver @ Baltimore - Kinda like Denver but I think Baltimore can pull it off at home.Houston @ Buffalo - Texans.Miami @ New York Jets - Dolphins again.San Francisco @ Indianapolis - Poor 49ers.St. Louis @ Detroit - Coin toss. Lions = Tails. Rams = Heads. And it's...heads. So Rams.Oakland @ San Diego - This is not even a question. If the Jets could beat Oakland 38-0, SD could hit the 50 mark. Essentially another bye week for the Chargers.Carolina @ Arizona - Redbirds.Jacksonville @ Tennessee - Titans get their first win of the season.New York Giants @ Philadelphia - Eagles will not look as good as they have facing a halfway decent team. Oversized humans.Atlanta @ New Orleans - Saints win.

Eric Mangini and George Kokinis would change everything about the Browns (I think including the nickname) if they could; that's how far gone they think they found this organization.

The only place among the five that I think has even a small chance of getting blown up in-season is Cleveland
This is already happening I think. Trading Edwards and starting two rookies at wide receiver, benching Quinn (and trying to trade him). A trade probably would've happened on defense but there aren't enough players- Mike Furrey has been playing nickelback.
I would put odds that Ratcliffe is going to start towards the end of the season at QB.
so far the browns have 11 draft picks next year.

I remember watching one of the Fox Sports West games of the week featuring Newhall Hart High School vs. Somebody, maybe like ten years ago, and the whole reason FSW chose that game was to showcase Newhall's amazing young quarterback, who played so well his name stuck with me for some reason.

Minnesota @ Green Bay - I got a feeling that the Pack could win, but EVERYBODY is clobbering Aaron Rogers and Minnesota's pass rush is a beast, so the Vikings it is. Seattle @ Dallas - This is the kind of game that Dallas lays an egg, but I don't think it will happen this particular time, so I take the Cowboys. Got to say that Jerry Jones should just let things be, how good would they be if they hadn't shipped of all those picks for guys like Roy Williams who haven't done much?Cleveland @ Chicago - Good lawd the Bears SUUUCCKKED last week. That being said, they probably better not lose to Cleveland. I got a feeling this will probably be closer than expected and probably a weird game. Pretty much the Browns aren't playing Quinn as they don't want to pay him, right? Not that he is really anything over Anderson anyway.Denver @ Baltimore - This is an interesting game. I have picked wrong pretty much every week on the Broncos, so lets keep it going and go with the Ravens coming off a bye. B-more's D has been pretty ordinary in their last couple of games.Houston @ Buffalo - This is the type of game that the Texans need to win if they are really going to make the playoffs. I could see Houston giving this one away, but that 172 yards a game given up on the ground by Buffalo means I have to take the Texans on the road. Miami @ New York Jets - Miami is the best club with a losing record out there as their schedule has been pretty brutal. I'm taking the Dolphins in an upset, as I think the clubs that can really pass give Miami the fits. I think the Jet's D is getting banged up, Miami will be able to run and Sanchez is not ready to come out and put up some real yards and beat them through the air (as Miami does have some decent db's). Miami gets through this and NE next week winning at least 1, their finally schedule eases up and I wouldn't be suprised if they get hot and win 5 out of 7 or so. Problem is that even if things go well they will probably end up 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Still, I think Miami is a decent club.San Francisco @ Indianapolis - SF would need for the Colts to make a whole lot of mistakes to make this a game. If Indy gets up early, I just don't see how the Niners can play to keep up. Colts it is.St. Louis @ Detroit - Someone is going to get a much needed win. Detroit is getting pretty banged up and the Rams actually have a decent RB, so I will take LA (err St. Louis for now) to get the win.Oakland @ San Diego - SD better win. LA. (err Oakland for now) is so sad.Carolina @ Arizona - This is the kind of game that the Cards lay an egg upon. I'm taking Arizona, but I don't feel too secure. If they get that power running going with Wells, they could be quite formidable, but they have got to lay of those fumbles baby. Fitzgerald actually kind of dropped a couple of passes last week! Criminy, that guy usually catches everything if he gets his hands upon it, but he had a couple of flat out drops.Jacksonville @ Tennessee - I got to take the Titans, but I have no good reason to believe it will happen. New York Giants @ Philadelphia - Philly at points looks fantastic and by players seems quite excellent, but for the fourth season in a row, they just seem out of synch at times. They either never run or cannot run a 2 minute drill. They seem to have the talent to become an offensive machine, but not the discipline like Indy or NE seem to have. I'm taking the Giants, but they got to get some sacks and quit doing the stupid stuff like the dumb o-line penalties that have been creeping back into their game.Atlanta @ New Orleans - NO is the team to pick until proven wrong. Atlanta is OK, but they are not all that. I've honestly been more impressed by the Dolphins in the past couple of weeks than the Falcons, which to me kind of looks like Carolina before Delhomme turned into a shell shocked lost QB.
Last week 9-4, for the season 70-33.

Peyton Manning has to be the only QB in the history of football that can have a bad game while still throwing for almost 350 yards with no turnovers.
I didn't watch the game, but it looks like the good Eagles showed up today. That club is screwy. They lose to the Raiders and then they pummel the Giants.

my cat is fine now - he suddenly fell extremely ill, his head was swollen like a little beach ball (!!) and he was falling over but it turned out he had an infection from an injury that we couldn't see thru his fur, and all of the other lumps turned out to be benign tumors. they blood work and biopsies all turned out well after they cleared out his massive infection that was causing a huge fever. now he has on a cone and looks like a little vampire. thank you for asking though! he has a clean bill of health after an awful scare.

If one play could sum up the first half of the season for the Raiders it might have come on the final drive. On second-and-28 with Oakland trailing 24-16, JaMarcus Russell went back to pass and had no open receivers. That was because Louis Murphy and Johnnie Lee Higgins got tangled up with each other and both hit the ground.
