ILNFL™ 2010 Fantasy Football League: Now 100% Jamarcus-free!!!

Yeah, I know it's only the 8th of June, and setting up a league three months before kickoff indicates some symptom of addiction or whatever, but here it is! ILNFL™ 2010! I left the settings in their Yahoo defaults for the most part. Reduced waivers time from 2 days to 1 day, changed QB passing tds from 4 to 6 points, added one more player to the bench than we had last year. Other than that, it's pretty basic and non-fucked-with. It's set at 10 teams right now, but I'll be honest...I wouldn't complain if we actually had just 8 people sign up. Better quality draft, better quality season. Think it over or jump on board. It's been set up.

I would, but I was really lazy last year about playing. So I'm gonna sit out -- if it gets close and you need me tho as an 8th, I'll sign up.

Mordy, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 04:28 (fifteen years ago)

It's never too early for fantasy football!! I am in and I got my team all set up and I am ready to go!!

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 10 June 2010 10:41 (fifteen years ago)

Sweet!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 June 2010 12:21 (fifteen years ago)

I'm innerested in joining this year

iatee, Thursday, 10 June 2010 12:23 (fifteen years ago)

I will join to avenge my father!

Brice Pilaf (brownie), Thursday, 10 June 2010 20:41 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, count me in.

MikeJonze, Friday, 11 June 2010 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, five already. Part of me really wants to cap this at 8 instead of 10. Anyone want to talk me out of it?

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

I joined! How does less people make it more fun? Is it because you don't want to be stuck starting some 3rd string RB?

|8 l) u_u (bnw), Friday, 11 June 2010 20:08 (fifteen years ago)

Right.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

It's not fun to field a really weak team, and it's likewise not that much of an accomplishment to beat a really weak team.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

it is if you do it with a really weak team

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

well that's true.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

I skipped '09, but I think I'd like to be in it this year.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 11 June 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

I don't mind an 8 person league, but if that's the case, considering how quickly this one filled up I could imagine there being enough demand for 2?

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

Dang, 9 teams already.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 11 June 2010 20:36 (fifteen years ago)

purely my opinion - league should be big and stupid much like a message board. Worry about limits when it comes to $$$ leagues.

|8 l) u_u (bnw), Friday, 11 June 2010 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

i am in. 8 is too few teams imo. reminds of the small rosters we had 2(?) years ago, where everyone had blue chip players on the bench. 10 is prob the sweet spot. 12 is better than 8.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

I would move to a 2nd small league rather than be in a huge league. Small leagues = good test of bench management ability.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 11 June 2010 21:33 (fifteen years ago)

that's a good point

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

how is it a good test? your team will be more stocked with obvious choices.

|8 l) u_u (bnw), Friday, 11 June 2010 21:35 (fifteen years ago)

right but the more top tier players you have, the more likely you'll have to make a difficult decision

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

(between two good players for one spot)

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:37 (fifteen years ago)

it's not a difficult decision if they're both good, because it hardly matters. it's a difficult decision if they are both average players and you have to look at the matchups carefully.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, because I'll inevitably pick Peyton Manning on a day that fucking Chad Henne throws for 400 yards and 5 scores. xp

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

I mean it's between
"wow I have an awesome team, but who do I choose to play?"
and
"lol oh man my team sucks, how do I scrap together a team from 2nd tier players?"

I guess those are sorta two different types of 'difficult' but the first type is (ime) more fun cause you get an awesome team

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

it doesn't hardly matter, cause your opponent has a relatively better team too. you have to look at the matchups just as much and make the best decision - you're more likely to be picking up points on gameday, but so's the other side

xp

iatee, Friday, 11 June 2010 21:46 (fifteen years ago)

That's our ten!

See y'all in September. :D

gonjasufi smacker (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:34 (fifteen years ago)

small leagues are boring!

gonjasufi smacker (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:36 (fifteen years ago)

I really do want you dudes to play too, I like you guys. But 12 teams and 20 rounds will exhaust the draft pool to the point of the whole season being a wash for a lot of people.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:37 (fifteen years ago)

man i really think 12 is doable

call all destroyer, Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

in the nfl there are 32 starting qbs, 32 starting rbs & 64 starting WRs btw

gonjasufi smacker (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:39 (fifteen years ago)

just have one less bench spot

gonjasufi smacker (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:39 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, I'll put it up to the other 9 folks who've already joined: open it up to 12 teams and one less bench spot? Yea or nay?

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 12 June 2010 01:42 (fifteen years ago)

yea

iatee, Saturday, 12 June 2010 02:09 (fifteen years ago)

As long as 12 is the absolute upper limit, okay.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Saturday, 12 June 2010 02:17 (fifteen years ago)

while i am cool with 12 teams it is a shame that the extra spots have to be wasted on cad and j sarge.

Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 12 June 2010 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

12... 10... however many you want. its ok by me! im just happy to be here, man.

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 12 June 2010 04:32 (fifteen years ago)

Bumped it to 12 teams, reduced it by one bench position.

This is for J0rdan and cad only. If anyone else tries to sneak in, I'll kick you.

NEXT GREAT STEP IN FANTASY FOOTBALL'S EVOLUTION

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 13 June 2010 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

I like the idea of two 8-team leagues.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Sunday, 13 June 2010 23:33 (fifteen years ago)

we need a roll call of the disenfranchised so we know if we have 16. if so i think 2x8 would be cool. sucks to have to turn anyone away.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 14 June 2010 00:38 (fifteen years ago)

Some people with no life during football season (like me) could probably play in both if necessary.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 June 2010 00:48 (fifteen years ago)

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 14 June 2010 09:50 (fifteen years ago)

I've never done this and don't know if I'll have the time, but if you need an extra head to make it to 16 I'll give it a shot. Probably come in 8th, though.

Fetchboy, Monday, 14 June 2010 09:53 (fifteen years ago)

ive got nothin against 2 leagues of 8 but 8 is a v. small league -- i was in 1 last yr, rosters are really an embarrassment of riches iirc

johnny crunch, Monday, 14 June 2010 11:01 (fifteen years ago)

throw in extra starting rb and wr slots to counterbalance.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 14 June 2010 11:07 (fifteen years ago)

It's still easy to lose, though. I was in a 6-team league last year and still went 9-5 because the competition was so strong.

I'm with spirals. That is an abomination.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 June 2010 12:27 (fifteen years ago)

what about two leagues of 10? I'd bet there's at least ~15 people who would play, and (at least) 5 who'd be willing to play both.

iatee, Monday, 14 June 2010 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

I mean we have 13 people NOW and the season is pretty far away

iatee, Monday, 14 June 2010 13:58 (fifteen years ago)

No need to expand beyond what we need until we need it, I think.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Monday, 14 June 2010 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

8 person leagues are no fun.

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 June 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

even 10 is kinda silly. 12-15 is where it's at.

Yeah, we're trying to sort out how we'll split it into two separate leagues.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 June 2010 17:25 (fifteen years ago)

There's got to be about 24 people right? Somebody start a new 12 man league and we'll bump it up to 15/16 as is needed.

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 June 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

We're three fucking months out!

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 June 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

Why do you want such gigantic leagues, forks? Are you just dying to start Jason Campbell?

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 June 2010 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

I am a fan of deep leagues, for what's it's worth. Extra challenging.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Monday, 14 June 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

we need to find out how many people want to play before any other decision can be made. maybe a poll or something?

iatee, Monday, 14 June 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

This is weird. We were scrapping just to get 12 people last year, and now there's almost enough to start two leagues (in JUNE).

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 June 2010 19:12 (fifteen years ago)

same reason Polyphonic says; with an 8 man league, everybody has a great starting lineup and a decent backup. With a 15 man league, you have to take some calculated risks. I hate watching one guy sew up the whole season with a lucky draft.

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Monday, 14 June 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

I hate watching one guy sew up the whole season with a lucky draft.

That's what happens in a big league! I like small leagues, where everybody's got talent, there's more talent available throughout the season, and everyone has to manage it properly all season long.

Obviously if there's this much interest this year (though I'm not convinced that there really is), what we need is an 8 and a 12+, and everybody can be in the type of league they prefer.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Monday, 14 June 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

I say, the more the merrier. Would like all the ILNFL regs to have their own team to increase acrimony during the season.

Brice Pilaf (brownie), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 21:10 (fifteen years ago)

I will enthusiastically join a second league

symsymsym, Sunday, 27 June 2010 23:54 (fifteen years ago)

We should probably decide how to split off sooner or later. If four people wanna leave the one I started and play in a bigger league, my feelings wouldn't be hurt. Our 8-team league will be AWESOME.

i still don't get why the 12 team league got bigger. i thought we were cool w/that but some folks wanted a small league too. GRUMBLE GRUMBLE GRUMBLE. ah, whatevs man, why i really want to know if how the fuck did return yards sneak back in? also, why no can't cuts? also, why no negative DEF score for shipping a ton of points?

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:46 (fifteen years ago)

forks wanted a gigantic league, so I handed over commish duties to him to grow it as he saw fit. i'm still playing in it, but only because i'm an addict.

return yard points are a norm on ilnfl, and have been for 2 or 3 seasons. they're not out of hand anymore like they were the first year, though. tbh i don't remember why there's no can't cuts or negative DEF points...perhaps i was feeling charitable that day.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:21 (fifteen years ago)

return yards are probably good for a large league. WRs get really thin otherwise.

bnw, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:27 (fifteen years ago)

Now the too-small league has one slot left, hooray! Who wants in?

Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 10:52 (fifteen years ago)

Gonna split this into a new thread.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 17 August 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, second league is now set up identical to the first league, except with an 8-team cap.

My totem animal is a hamburger. (WmC), Friday, 20 August 2010 13:31 (fifteen years ago)

woo hoo! draft day is 2 weeks from now. Guess I better start looking at depth charts and shit.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 23 August 2010 14:50 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, who all is in both the league of 14 and the league of 8?

Last night's draft learnt me good. Monday night I will be victorious!

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 September 2010 06:30 (fifteen years ago)

Just one more hour!!!

Johnny Fever, Monday, 6 September 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

draft order in less than 30mins, can't wait

jbn, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 00:04 (fifteen years ago)

I was sitting around playing with the new iPad a few minutes ago and suddenly thought OHSHIT DRAFTDAYDIDIMISSIT OHSHIT

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 00:30 (fifteen years ago)

You got an iPad? I want one.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 00:31 (fifteen years ago)

Hmm...I've never had the #2 spot in a real draft before. I WILL BLOW THIS.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 00:35 (fifteen years ago)

I did -- totally self-indulgent, but what the fuck, we're in the End Times anyway, amirite? xp

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 00:36 (fifteen years ago)

I'm pretty into my team. Good draft, everybody!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 01:50 (fifteen years ago)

i've got this thing wrapped up.

MikeJonze, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 01:51 (fifteen years ago)

with just 8 teams, everyone gets to go home feeling good about themselves. it's like the special olympics.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 01:52 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 01:55 (fifteen years ago)

imo iatee looks like the most formidable opponent on paper.

Here's my team:

QB - Peyton Manning / Ben Rofflesburger / Sam Bradford
WR - Joshua Cribbs / Marques Colston / Chad Ochocinco / Steve Breaston
RB - DeAngelo Williams / Pierre Thomas / Jerome Harrison / Ricky Williams / LaRod Stephens-Howling
TE - Vernon Davis / Vistanthe Shiancoe
K - Lawrence Tynes
DEF - Green Bay
IDP - D.J. Williams / Yeremiah Bell / Rolando McClain

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:17 (fifteen years ago)

Peyton as 1st QB taken was o_O

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:29 (fifteen years ago)

I like him. ALSO, he's been the Yahoo QB points leader the past two years (ahead of Brees and Rogers and Brady).

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:44 (fifteen years ago)

Not hot for WRs, Johnny?

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:46 (fifteen years ago)

My draft was based on fantasy value, not irl value.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:50 (fifteen years ago)

(but also dudes I like watching on tv)

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 02:56 (fifteen years ago)

Just meant that you don't have a clear #1 WR -- Colston is #1 Saints receiver but Brees likes to spread it around, and Ochocinco may be great or may be underwhelming. Nothing as safe as the Williams pick (btw, when did you pick? did you take Manning in the first round?)

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:00 (fifteen years ago)

I took Manning with the #2 pick in the first round, sacrificing my chance at Adrian Peterson. But I wanted him, and I knew I wasn't going to get him at #15.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:08 (fifteen years ago)

You're a huge Colts fan!

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:09 (fifteen years ago)

Cribbs is my #1 wr, btw. We're including return yardage, and he's a beast in that category. But he's ALSO turning into a really legit receiver if the pre-season means anything.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:10 (fifteen years ago)

I'm aware this may all blow up in my face, fwiw. But convention has failed me in the past.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

How many points are you guys counting for return yards? 1 for every 10?

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

1 for every 15.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:12 (fifteen years ago)

Man, idk. lol. I don't see Cribbs as a #1 receiver but good luck. Maybe you know something I don't about Delhomme :P

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

I've never had luck with wr's in fantasy anyway, so I try to draft stronger in other areas.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:15 (fifteen years ago)

I think Fever and I are on the same wavelength here -- maybe the top half dozen WRs from scrimmage have the value of Joe Schmoe WR who is also a return guy.

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:20 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, but legit regular return guys are rare and prone to severe injury and most of them aren't joe schmos, they're wes welkers and joshua cribbs and devin hesters.

Gulab jamun (Gulab Jamun) into the syrup please. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:35 (fifteen years ago)

Johnnie Lee Higgins put up insane numbers for me 2 seasons ago, week in/week out. (I didn't play last year.) Much more valuable than even my #1 drafted WR. Who remembers that 51-point David Harris game?

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:59 (fifteen years ago)

I remember it. MikeJonze beat the snot out of me that week David Harris tacked every player on the field at least twice.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 04:09 (fifteen years ago)

fuck i have no idea how to draft IDPs. Are linebackers the only ones really worth starting?

symsymsym, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 04:11 (fifteen years ago)

There are some corners and safetys and ends who get a fair amount of tackles/forced fumbles/interceptions, but linebackers are the most reliable choice.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 04:12 (fifteen years ago)

It's a risk-reward game -- LBs rack up more tackles and sacks, but a cornerback can either come up with a big zero, or they might get INTs and pick-sixes.

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 04:16 (fifteen years ago)

RE: Josh Cribbs...you may think he's going to be a fantasy monster b/c of the points for return yardage and the fact that he's going to be more integrated into the passing game. But from what I've seen, in cases where explosive return men win a spot in the offensive rotation (and subsequently a pay raise), it usually results in two things: 1) they don't manage to make the transition that successfully b/c of the learning curve, and 2) they see their role in the return game dwindle or completely disappear altogether since coaches & management don't want to risk injury to a player that they have a lot of money tied up in. See Devin Hester.

MikeJonze, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 16:13 (fifteen years ago)

altho cribbs was basically a starter on O last season already. he's definitely a bit of a gamble fantasy-wise for those reasons, but what else have the browns got if they don't keep putting him in at wr and kick returns? he got all their points last year.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 16:22 (fifteen years ago)

I think I should've started Visanthe tonight.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 10 September 2010 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

Donovan Dagnabbit (WmC), Friday, 10 September 2010 03:02 (fifteen years ago)

Ha! I actually tied exactly with someone in a league last year WITH fractional points.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 10 September 2010 03:04 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha, dang.

Picture me ¯\(°_°)/¯ ing (symsymsym), Monday, 13 September 2010 05:17 (fifteen years ago)

what happened on the waiver wire this morning? rex ryan express had multiple pickups processed before my first free agent pickup went through, despite the fact that the player i was shooting for was the 2nd claim to go through for him.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

Are you sure you pressed the button twice to confirm your drop/add? I mean, you know what you're doing, I know, but I've been fucked that way before by forgetting to take the process all the way to fruition. Otherwise, I don't know what to do. Do you take it up with Yahoo or do I?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

no, i definitely did not pull a calvin johnson. i followed through all the way. i had five different acquisitions lined up in order of priority. brandon jackson was my #1. my second choice (brandon tate) went through, but it looks like it was after rex ryan express already made two transactions. that doesn't seem right.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 17:01 (fifteen years ago)

Hmm, the only thing I can think is to not pay attention to the times that are shown that correlate with the waiver pickups. There's probably a Yahoo supercomputer somewhere that sorts it all and then drops players into peoples rosters in lumps instead of neat and orderly. Like, it may LOOK like rrx got all his waiver picks before you got your first, but it probably just looks that way in the list.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

ah, i think you're right. if jackson was actually rex ryan's first choice and he got him w/ his first claim, then everything else would make sense.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 17:14 (fifteen years ago)

rex ryan express here
jackson was my first choice
and at the start of the day I had the #1 waiver priority

on the subject of waivers, after the waiver deadline do undrafted (non/dropped) players still need to go through waivers to be added or are they free agents and can get picked up on a first come first serve basis? I ask because I did a drop/add of meachem for lloyd this morning and it immediately went through before my waivers started

jbn, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

There's a free agency period every week for players who aren't already on rosters or who haven't been dropped into waivers. The "official" waiver period lasts from kickoff on Sunday to Wednesday morning...after that everyone's up for grabs until kickoff the next Sunday (UNLESS a player has been dropped by someone to get a different player, or just dropped altogether...then they have their own waiver period).

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

thanks, that makes it clear.

jbn, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

looks like yahoo also was experiencing some kind of problem in processing waivers this week. there's a message from them at the top of our league page apologizing for the delay. perhaps that's why jbn was able to pick up lloyd before all the other waiver claims went through.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 23:27 (fifteen years ago)

i had won when i went to bed, but now rex ryan picked up a couple points from adjustments to move into the lead...

Picture me ¯\(°_°)/¯ ing (symsymsym), Monday, 20 September 2010 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

frank gore is on tonight so I doubt my lead is gonna hold

jbn, Monday, 20 September 2010 16:47 (fifteen years ago)

here we go again w/ the wacky waivers.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 12:19 (fifteen years ago)

What's wacky?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

when i got on my computer this morning, nobody else's claims were showing. again, rex ryan's express got preferential treatment. five different drop/adds by rex ryan's express were showing, no one else's were.

i don't think it actually affected the order we each got our players, but still...WTF? why can't yahoo show all the transactions in the order they take effect?

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

everyone else's claims didn't show up for over two hours. that's jacked.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

Mike
I didn't put any claims for guys on waivers
all my picks were free agents who were unclaimed during the waiver period
When I checked the available players this morning the players that had waiver claims on them, like knowshon moreno and darren mcfadden, were unavailable to select as free agents.

If I had gotten preferential treatment I would have selected Knowshon Moreno and Darren McFadden instead of my wacky waivers of Hightower and Tolbert
the problem, i guess, is that yahoo doesn't list the waiver selections before the free agent selections

jbn, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

guys, in the big league we discovered that Yahoo sets up the waivers so that the first person gets ALL their picks and then it moves on to the next player. You may be having a similar issue? Or not, I'm not clear what's happening with you.

Muscus ex Craneo Humano (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 22 September 2010 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, like jbn said, I was up early this morning too and I could already see which players had been claimed off waivers even though I didn't know who they'd gone to. All I knew is that I couldn't claim them myself, but could claim any player that had gone directly into free agency.

As for the method Yahoo uses for ordering waivers processing, I don't know. I had though it went through first choices down the list, then second choices down the list, and so on. But if it gives the first person ALL their picks before moving on, that's kind of crappy.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

I get what you guys are saying and it makes sense. But I'm saying...why the hell does Yahoo do that? If it's already reflecting which players are not available to claim b/c waiver claims have been placed on them at that hour in the morning, then why doesn't it just show them in the list of transactions and have them placed on those managers' teams at that point. it's just dumb is all i'm saying. do not like.

MikeJonze, Thursday, 23 September 2010 02:03 (fifteen years ago)
